Plot: 4/5 • Spice: 3/5 ➡️➡️➡️ Em with Nico and Gabriel save Dante from the Fossa. This eats up the majority of the first 200+ pages. It’s a lot.
Once freed, the gang needs some recovery. They don’t get long. They’re back on the hunt for the basin.
Ember is falling more and more in love with Nico and Gabriel. The guys finally confess their feelings. One to Dante and one to Ember herself. We finally get to witness them all together. 🔥🔥
Since I knew this wasn’t the last, this obviously does end on a cliffy. Setting you up for book three. They’re forging alliances, getting all the pieces together, trying to kept Dante in one piece, and finish off her uncle. Even Luca gets to step up! (that made so happy!)

I've read a lot from this author, and thus far this is my favorite series because Mafia vampires? C'mon, it really can't get any better.
And yet - it does. I'm trying very hard to avoid any spoilers, but everything I have to say about this book is completely hilarious - to me - so here we go.
The FMC likes knives and boots, is intelligent, fierce, and maintains these characteristics through both books.
The leading men (#whychoose) each have a distinct personality, quirks, strengths, and weaknesses. As it's multiple POV, I'm also delighted that each character has a unique voice.
The world building - paranormal set in an existing location - is well done enough that reading is total immersion.
Some why choose books take pages, chapters of moral anguish, which is pleasantly missing here - a reasonable amount of emotions, then everything flips to all parties being on board, and (bow chicka wow wow).
Side characters and villains are also well developed - the latter making me cringe just at their mustache-twirling entrances.
Am I allowed to reference super hero vibes? Because, if so.... Hulk smash!

It's a amazing bookseries. I love them. I hate the cliffhanger in this book series a little less it's not mayor but mayor enough to want to read trough.

This book was everything I needed it to be and so much more! Laura has an uncanny ability to draw you and leave you begging for just one more chapter, and Desired is no exception. I seriously didn’t want it to end and am already dying for book 3.
After the cliffhanger of book 1, I couldn’t wait see how Ember and the guys were going to make it out of the predicament them found themselves in. The stakes are high, emotions are tense, and the threats are bigger than anyone could have imagined.
While I know this was “Dante’s book”, Gabriel and Nico shine just as bright! Seriously, these men are so down bad it hurts, and I loved every moment of it! Dante said it best when he mentioned everyone falls for Ember. These men are so feral for her, and when the “why choose” aspect finally hits, it’s everything I hoped it would be. I was anticipating being made to wait for certain things, and am so happy that I didn’t have to! Give me more of Gabriel’s cunning nature and tender devotion, Nico’s unleashed chaos and fierce protection, and Dante’s unwavering support and unconditional love any day of the week!

What a phenomenal read!! As the second book in the series, it kept me on the edge of my seat. The hits just kept coming, but our beloved characters kept fighting. I don’t think I have a favorite of the MMCs anymore, they are all equally interesting to me. Dante is struggling for control, Nico is fighting his past, and Gabriel is battling to protect everyone. Ember, while not completely abandoning her normal tendencies, is learning to not be so impulsive. I loved getting to see Luca come into his own as well. I can’t wait for book 3!

I can't believe how good this series is (well I can, considering the author).
This is a fantastic continuation of "The D'Immortali Vampire Dynasty" by L.A. McGinnis. I haven't found a book by her that I haven't loved and this is no exception; a fast-paced vampire mafia why choose romance with a sassy female MC who is determined to rescue her husband and get revenge for her father's murder, and the two brothers and their best friend who can't help but all fall in love with her.
Gods, it was true. Everyone did fall in love with my wife
Following on from "DECEIVED " Emberline is in hiding with Gabriel and Nico, and the trio are searching for the location of the Fossa prison which they know Dante has been taken back to. But even once they get there, getting out with her starved husband is not as easy as they'd anticipated.
Back in Venice they're forging alliances and trying to stay ahead of Ember's uncle, while attempting to work out his full plan. But he's always several steps ahead of them and there is more than one plot to uncover while they all struggle with their own issues.
💖 Emberline is worrying about Dante who's trying to push them all away, while also trying not to fall in love with her husband's brother and their best friend
💖 Gabriel knows he's about to step up to be the next Dom, with his father's health failing, wanting to protect everyone, and the dynasty he was born to rule
💖 Nico can be wonderfully light hearted at times, a soldier sworn to protect the dynasty and though he's the best in the assassin Brotherhood he has shadowy past that I can't wait to learn more about
💖 Dante is struggling for control having been taken back to Fossa but he (and his inner demon) would burn the world for Ember
💖It's also great to see more of Luca with him finding a way to help them in his own way.
But working together the males find they can't hide their feelings for Ember and Dante's not pleased to learn of his brother and their best friend's feelings for his wife. Though after she disappears they know they need to work together to save the woman they all love.
“We’ll find her.” Nico checked over his weapons. “There has to be a way to track her, and when we find her, we go and get our girl.”
A growl built in my chest, and Nico just met my glower with one of his own, body braced for whatever violence I decided to unleash.
“She is the heart of us, Dante.” Nico’s shoulders sagged, all the fight draining out of him. “We all care for her, and none of us would ever be the same if we lost her. She means too much to us.”
“To me,” I snapped, sharper than I intended.
Nico stood his ground, holding my stare. “To all of us. I won’t apologize for loving her, or protecting her, or worrying over her. I’m done pretending what I feel is wrong. She matters to all of us.”
A brilliant continuation of The D'Immortali Vampire Dynasty (it just gets better) with action from the start and really well written main characters, tension, desire and chemistry. There are characters you will fall in love with, humor, action, betrayal, deception, corruption, a demon, love, secrets, danger, great character development, banter, fantastic twists, romance and steam. I couldn't put this down and I can't wait for the next in the series.

My emotions were all over the place not knowing who to trust, frustrated at half-cocked plans, DISTRAUGHT at the reality my love Dante was facing, STRESSED about how we can learn to share because having some life-altering magic inside you when you’re already possessive and unhinged can have dire consequences, and THEN feeling a smidge hopeless because the villains are really being villain-y and I want to just stomp my foot and *poof* them out of existence 🤣

As they get closer to finding Dante, the more lines blur – friend & lover, ally & enemy – and one wrong move could cost them everything…
You know what, the confidence Emberline has when she’s basically unprepared is equal parts “kudos to you” & “GIRL. Are you for real?” I get it though, my love for Dante would spur me on to say “screw it, let’s go”, because these are DESPERATE times. My heart broke all over again for Dante in this one – being returned to the prison that tried to break him for 50 years, and now is even more determined to cause suffering, and Dante can’t confirm if his wife is alive? 😭 While Dante is in a pit of despair, the only reason Ember is alive is because of Gabriel & Nico and they both have fallen in love with her, but can’t act on those feelings out of loyalty to Dante…and saving Dante? We find out some CRAZY information about Dante’s magic and even in the face of that danger, Nico is out here gaining brownie points because he’s saying what needs to be said about feelings 👀 And when Ember is in danger, all of these men are bringing 🔥 the world energy to the table with ZERO hesitation and just when the spice, SPICES…bam!
Now, I’m left wondering…what am I supposed to do with myself? I mean…I knew I needed to be ready for some plot twists, but never in a million years did I think I’d be saying “better the enemies we know” because those MFs are the WORST. I need book 3 to give me some emotional damage (you know, it gets worse before it gets better) so I can then begin to heal 🤣

Ohhhhh boy this book was fire (literally). Such a great second book in the series. It was packed with action, character development, secrets, betrayals, lies, and why choose spice.
The first half-ish of the book revolved around Dante and The Fossa. It gave more insight into his past and the absolute horrors he went through for years before he was rescued the first time. The "secret" that he was hiding upon his return- I was so here for it. it just made him hotter imo. Unintentionally trying to play on words here.
The relationship between Dante, Nico, Gabriel, & Ember finally peaked and we got to see their love as a "family." The why choose was why choosing and I cannot wait to see how the spice develops next book. I liked that Dante initially had a jealous reaction to their love confessions, but put Emberline first and it wasn't a dragged out conflict throughout the book. "For you Emberline, I will always kneel because my pride is nothing against how much I love you. How much I worship you. How the f**king sun rises and sets for you. I think my life only began the day I saw you."
Ember was a continual bad a** in this book and you can't convince me otherwise. The pit fight and torture scenes made me love her even more. Her fight, spirit, and Italian temper were everything.
The enemies just keep piling up and I'm obsessed with the way you never know who the true allies are. Every time you think you know, you don't. I know I said this in my last review, but it gave me GOT vibes. The game everyone is playing for power, just might be their downfall.
There are so many secrets left and my theories are spiraling. I need to know about Gabriel's mother. Nico's connection to Blackwood and the "spirit realm." Will Giovanni finally die? Because please. Is Valeria going to double cross them? Will Emilia wake from stasis? Will we get more POV from the Ifrit?
I can't wait for Devoted!!

The secrets, danger and political intrigue just kept coming in book two of this dark vampire why choose romance, and I’m entirely addicted to the emotional roller coaster L.A. McGinnis delivers. With new threats coming to light, shifting loyalties and a monster that’s barely contained, Desired was filled with suspense, action and plot twists I did not see coming.
Ember is dedicated and determined to find Dante, and her passion for those she loves drives her bada$$ery, making her a top tier FMC in my book. Nico becomes the most emotionally expressive character when he admits that he’s in love with Ember, and my heart hurt for how much guilt he carried for his actions when he was under the Overseer’s control! Gabriel tries to mask his growing feelings for Ember, and I admire his attempts to try to be honorable and not fall for his brother’s wife even if it proves impossible. Finding out that his controlled external behavior belies a rage he keeps in check added more depth to his character, and I’m looking forward to when he unleashes it.
My poor tortured Dante goes through hell and then some in this book, and with his relationship to the ifrit inside him, this man’s struggles only get worse. Dante admits that everyone who knows Ember falls in love with her—even the ifirt, and I felt jealous for him when he finds out Nico and Gabriel are in love with his wife as well! When the four of them finally come to terms, the spice rises to the next level!
There are more than one villain at play here, but I need justice and want Giovanni ‘unalived’ in the worst possible way now! Ember is dedicated and determined to find Dante, and her passion for those she loves drives her bada$$ery, making her a top tier FMC in my book. Nico becomes the most emotionally expressive character when he admits that he’s in love with Ember, and my heart hurt for how much guilt he carried for his actions when he was under the Overseer’s control! Gabriel tries to mask his growing feelings for Ember, and I admire his attempts to try to be honorable and not fall for his brother’s wife even if it proves impossible. Finding out that his controlled external behavior belies a rage he keeps in check added more depth to his character, and I’m looking forward to when he unleashes it.
My poor tortured Dante goes through hell and then some in this book, and with his relationship to the ifrit inside him, this man’s struggles only get worse. Dante admits that everyone who knows Ember falls in love with her—even the ifirt, and I felt jealous for him when he finds out Nico and Gabriel are in love with his wife as well! When the four of them finally come to terms, the spice rises to the next level!
There are more than one villain at play here, but I need justice and want Giovanni ‘unalived’ in the worst possible way now! What a great continuation to the story of Deceived! The book picks up the story in urgency as a rescue attempt is planned. The emotional turmoil between all the characters couldn't be more pronounced. Then tension is about to snap. Then the entirety of the book continues this way with no room to breathe as secrets, twists, and turns continue to develop. There is the same of amount of romantic yearning, political intrigue, sexual tension, and heartbreak as the first book. The end resolution was the only disappointment for me. Something about it felt forced. I literally said out loud, "How does that make sense?" Not that it didn't make some sense, it just wasn't as satisfying an ending as I had hoped. A little disappointing if I am to be honest. Spoiler, if you want below. Otherwise, I loved the book. I look forward to book 3.
Spoiler: In the end, after gaining the upper hand against their greatest enemy, the group anticipates a last move/effort from said enemy and basically ignores it. It is written off as one of the main characters being overly confident, and so the rest of the group just lets him. Which I thought was out of character for all of them. The exact same situation was repeated earlier in the books and every time it would come up, one of the other characters would have circumvented the decision made by the "idiot" and done something to prevent it or at least complicate the situation. But the exact situation they anticipated happened and not only did they not intervene, they just runaway. It was also just critically unbelievable to me that a vote that requires all parties to participate can go forward when one of them can't speak or put their vote in. It was supremely frustrating...

Oh, my nerves! Once the action kicks in, you'll be holding your breath and biting your nails.
The story picks up exactly where the first book's cliffhanger left us, which means the uncertainty was just as agonizing for the main characters as it was for me.
At the same time, you're desperately waiting for justice to catch up with that absolute jerk. I'm choosing to believe that karma just takes its time.
Then, just when all the pieces start falling into place... BOOM! The story takes a turn that had me yelling, "No! That's not how this was supposed to happen!"
But after all that stress, something unpredictable happens again, leaving me staring at the pages thinking, "What is happening?!" This time, it made me want to jump up and cheer.
Or just when it feels like everything is finally falling into place, The characters uncover new information that first had me thinking, "What?!" and then, "Oh... wow, that actually makes perfect sense."
What an emotional roller coaster.
I loved how the twists were surprising without feeling forced—they completely caught me off guard while fitting seamlessly into the story.
It's a slow burn, but the feelings develop like a fast burn. Now all that's left is for our MMCs to figure out what sharing really means. Our FMC has more than enough love to go around—they just need to catch up!
I'm not sure I'd call the ending a cliffhanger. It's more like an SFN (Safe For Now).
The "war" is far from over—it's really only halfway through, with new developments to consider, more enemies to take down, and potential allies waiting in the wings.
I can't wait to find out what happens next.

Desired had everything I want in a good read—passion, drama, danger, emotion, and characters that completely pull you into their world. L.A. McGinnis has a way of making you feel like you’re right there in the middle of all the chaos, and I was completely invested from beginning to end.
The chemistry and tension were SO good. There were moments that had me smiling, moments that had my heart racing, and plenty of moments where I was thinking, “There is no way this is happening right now!” Just when I thought I knew where the story was going, something else happened that pulled me even deeper.
What I love most is that the story never feels like it’s just about the romance. There are so many layers—the relationships, loyalties, secrets, danger, and all the complicated emotions that come with loving someone when nothing around you is simple.
I flew through this one because I genuinely needed to know what was going to happen next. By the time I reached the end, I was nowhere near ready to leave these characters or this world.

Wow what a riveting, hefty packed sequal this was. Continuing straight from the cliffhanger end of book one, the search for Dante is on by Emberline, Gabriel and Nico. Though Emberline, considered dead, is supposed to be in hiding, she's off on her nightly excursions to spy on her devious traitorous uncle Giovanni. Don Marcello is dying. The search for the Fossa, the worst of the worst, a nightmarish prison of torture, hell and fights to the death is the focus mostly as this is where Dante was. That part gave me a heartstopping palpitations as they were captured, but Gabriel had a secret back up plan. Loved the part where Emilia used magic to change Emberline to go to her own funeral and break into her father's old study. There's actually too much clues to leave you wanting to get your hands on this book, but the book is well over 400 pages filled with twists, brutality, plenty spice, but I don't like sharing spoilers. The end shares an unlikely ally, but definitely not a trustworthy one as the real end is not in sight by far especially as the freaking Giovanni is still breathing and Emilia is in magical stasis. Nico's shadow magic is intriguing my brainwaves and... and.... and....

Oh, these books have me from the start—the web of intrigue and deceit. Who is playing the long game and why? Who are allies and who are enemies? With an Uncle like Giovanni, Emberline and Luca don't have far to look. Gio is driven by jealousy, wanting what he thinks is his by rights. He will step over anyone who stands in his way and destroy them; loyalty means nothing to him.
Emberline should never be underestimated; she has a head on her shoulders, something the older generation sometimes forgets because a female can't be this intelligent. She has the brain, the mouth, the sass to give as good as she gets, but at the same time, she loves deeply and puts others before herself, sometimes to her detriment.
Dante, Gabriel, and Nico don't stand a chance around her. Emberline pulls them in, and they fall hard and deeply. They will fight to the bitter end to make sure that she is safe.

I absolutely devoured this book and flew through it just as quickly as the first one. The story is packed with action, intrigue, betrayal, and enough twists to keep me turning pages late into the night. The atmosphere of vampire mafia Venice continues to be one of my favorite parts of the series, and I loved seeing the stakes raised as the search for Dante unfolded.
My biggest hang-up was how quickly Dante seemed willing to share his wife. Given everything that had been built up in the first book, I was expecting more tension, conflict, and emotional groundwork before heading in that direction. The progression felt a little too fast for me, and I would have loved more buildup to make those developments feel earned.
That said, the story was still incredibly addictive. The characters are compelling, the romance is steamy, and the plot kept me fully invested from beginning to end. Despite my reservations about that particular aspect, I couldn't put it down and am already eager to see where the series goes next.

DESIRED steps up the action from DECEIVED—which is saying a LOT, because it had tons. I was hooked after book one, now I’m just plain addicted—this series is great. I don’t want to give much away, but I gotta say: Oh, Dante, the mess you go through 🥺 and STILL you find it in you to welcome Nico and Gabriel, who are SO in love with Emberline 🖤 and they are so dang HOT together 🫦 but when danger comes they bring it 💪 On top of all the twists, turns, and unexpected . . . I swear she puts her heros and heroines in such heart-stopping situations that I have to stop reading until I can re-center myself, or whatever. McGinnis has done it again. This is the second installment in the Dimmortali Vampire Dynasty series. I was on the edge of my seat coming into this from the Deceived cliff hanger. This book has so many twists and turns. I truly thought I knew what would happen, just to be proven wrong. The character development for our girl was on fire. Em is truly coming into her own and is so bad ass in this one. She really stands on her own and her decisions. The bond of her with our boys grows steadily. I’ve enjoyed the little snippets we get of each character while also waiting for more. This concept of Vampires and Mafia has me so hooked. McGinnis writing as always impresses me so much. Her attention to detail is always 5 star material. I absolutely can’t wait for the third book to come out. If you haven’t started this series yet I definitely recommend starting.

No! I never wanted it to end! This series just keeps getting better and more fantastic! Nico, Gabriel and Emberline are desperately searching for Dante before it’s too late. Evil Giovanni thinks he’s in control now but they do have a few aces up their sleeves. Nico and Gabriel are both falling for Ember and she’s just trying not to fall apart. The secrets and betrayals get deeper, romance blooms but time is running out. Alliances fail, new ones are made and our group is constantly caught on their back foot. Death is stalking them all and it doesn’t like being denied. Will they be able to gain any advantage or will they all end up dead or worse? That’s what Gio hopes but they’re all pretty stubborn and determined to find their way back to each other and defeat the evil stalking all the dynasties.

Desired is another action packed installment from L.A. McGinnis! Dante, Gabriel, and Nico are all absolute BA hotties. Honestly, I don’t blame Emberline for the confusion! I’m glad we get to see inside the Fossa, but how heartbreaking to relive! Dante’s inner thoughts are so sad, but his trust in both his brother and best friend really shines through and makes their bond even more compelling.
I loved seeing Luca step into a bigger role, and his confession was incredibly sweet. And can we all agree that more women should be running the vampire mafia? The evidence is overwhelming. As for Giovanni… for someone working on a 600-year plan, he may be the worst mastermind in history.
Full of action, romance, humor, and characters I can’t get enough of, Desired kept me hooked from beginning to end! I voluntarily reviewed this after receiving a free copy.

This entry in this series took you straight back into the action and never let up! I really enjoyed getting to know both Em's other admirers more in this book especially Nico, he would totally be my choice out of them. The world and what each character can do with their magic is building so much more and I would love other books in this world as now I'm learning more about it and the different families I think side stories would work really well. The steam was just right and I loved that we get to hear what Dante especially is thinking, the book works well as a multi point of view and this provides real balance of emotions. The revealing of secrets gradually has been masterful, leaving me intrigued and wanting to learn more. I wanted to start book 3 the second I was finished, it's a shame I have to wait.

This is the second book of the D'Immortali Vampire Dynasty series. The first book knocked me over. This one just held me down and said watch this.
From the first page I was pulled in and it never let me go. The characters are flawless. The banter genius. The spice, just right and only gets better.
I love these characters, the four of them fit together and flow together so well. When you think Emberline is the best, she really is, then Dante walks in and you know you couldnt have one without the other. Then Gabriel and Nico stroll in and wow they bring a whole new dynamic that throws it all out there.
These books are worth the read and very enjoyable. I cant wait for the next one.

Received this ARC and now I must wait until September for the next book? Thoroughly enjoyed this book and am loving this series. It was nice to have everyone’s true feelings come out. Reverse harem with some spice. All while fighting their enemies and trying to stay a step ahead. I found myself also laughing at the banter. Glad Luca finally got involved and proved he isn’t just her younger brother. I’m interested to see how they get off the island and if they truly just made a deal with the devil in Rocco”s daughter. We know she can’t be trusted ! vampires, mafia,’reverse harem, all whille trying to save their dynasty and exploring their evolving relationship. LOVE this series - thank you for the ARC

Really enjoying the new series from L.A. McGinnis and was excited to read book 2 after the cliff-hanger ending of book 1.
Although I am committed and drawn to reading the series to the end, this book didn't totally capture my attention and create an addictive need to discover what happens next. First time I have to admit that I found myself skimming text to pass by some details (torture and fighting in The Fossa at the beginning with Dante as POV), but then after the first third of the book was back into reading every detail, soaking up the characters, world, scheming, twists and turns, intrigue and unfolding of narrative.
Excited and anxiously await book 3 to see what adventures the family of four faces.

This book did not disappoint with the twist and turns, violence, killings, betrayal, lies, secrets, vampires, love, sorrow, heartache, and so much more emotions with a little drink to wash it all with the anger to shine through. Giovanni has taken over the Empire he married his neice off to Dante, Giovanni organized his neice's to be killed she knew to much and Dante was sent underground where he has to fight monsters to stay alive. Nico and a couple of people went to rescue him, if they get caught they will be killed so they will have to try to stay alive.
