This one… wasn’t an easy read, but it stays with you.
Jumper Cables is one of those memoirs that feels incredibly raw and unfiltered. It follows the author after a traumatic event that completely reshapes her life and what really hit me is how honest it is about what comes after. Not just the moment but the years of fallout, the messy coping, the self-destruction and trying to figure out how to exist in a version of yourself you don’t even recognize anymore.
The writing felt very real, almost like you’re inside her thoughts at times. It doesn’t try to wrap things up neatly or make healing look pretty, which I actually appreciated. It shows how trauma lingers, how it changes you and how grief isn’t just about losing someone, it can be about losing yourself.
This is definitely a heavier read, so I’d go in prepared for that. But if you like memoirs that don’t hold back and really make you feel something, this one delivers.
