About the author

Jeanne Willis was born in St Albans and trained as an advertising copywriter at Watford College. She worked for various agencies creating press adverts and TV, cinema and radio commercials. She is now a full-time writer and has published over 80 books. Her hobbies include gardening, reading (non-fiction), natural history and collecting caterpillars. Jeanne has also worked on scripts for TV, including POLLY POCKET and THE SLOW NORRIS, and a pilot TV series for DR XARGLE. She lives in North London with her husband and two children.

Yes, I know I'm hardly the target demographic, but...Paddington, like William Brown, Jennings and a whole horde of Blytons is an integral part of my childhood, and thankfully, the recent film based on Michael Bond's little Peruvian marmalade guzzler did not disappoint. This, the novelisation of the film is not by Bond, but is a faithful retelling (and based very closely on the screenplay) of the actual film. Naturally it is not short on sweetness, sentiment and jokes and Paddington remains what he always has been, an innocent, child-like creature filled with natural wisdom and charm. Watching the film last week made me fall in love with him in exactly the way I did when I was seven years old, and the purchase of the book has added to my somewhat battered collection of Paddington paperbacks. Great stuff.

Really loved reading this book about Paddington. It felt like I was watching the movie in my head whilst I was reading it. It did have some parts of the movie missing in the book but it didn’t really make any difference at all. I hope they will be another Paddington movie and book. Massive fan of Paddington xxx

If you love the Paddington movie (which I do!) then you'll love this book as it's a very faithful retelling of the movie. All the gang is here plus Millicent (boo), the security guard at the Geographers Guild (who had me in stitches!) and of course Mr Curry. It's made me want a marmalade sandwich now!😋😋😋😋😋

Reading this in preparation in going to see the new film due out on Friday. This is a delightful book. Really easy to read. Adults and children alike will love it. I am sure many adults will enjoy reading it to a child and the child will enjoy listening. Written so well by Jeanne Willis, who is a great author herself. Broken down into short chapters so just right for bedtime.

I think, this book would be good for a reader of any age. It was cute, quick and easy to read. It stayed true to the movie, with all of Paddington's shenanigans and mishaps. A must-read for any Paddington fan.

I think the book is really interesting. It's very exciting and positive.
It tells about a bear Paddington. His house was destroyed by an earthquake. But he keeps a good heart. He knows that there is a traveller in London who can help him and took after him. So, the bear cub decides to go to Great Britain from the Darkest Peru. Luckily he meets the Browns. The Browns is a very good English family. It consists of a father Mr.Brown, a mother Mrs.Brown, a daughter Judy and a son Jonathan. They want to help Paddington find a new home. But nobody knows the traveller's name. They only have his hat. Also a madam named Millicent is hunting the bear. What can the Browns do to save the bear?
So, I advice all children to read the book ))

It's amazing

So good would recommend to everyone to read. If you have already watched the film still read this its different in some ways but that's what makes it more funny. Younger children will love it. I would recommend reading to children if there going to bed but stop at each chapter so they can settle down.
