Do not ignore the author's warning with this book, but if you can handle them you're in for a ride of your life! There are no heroes or redemption. It immediately starts with a slap in the face with spice and emotional rollercoaster. By the end I wanted to throw the book across the room, because I wanted more right that moment!! Bring on book 2 NOW!!!!

My heart is…I don’t know where my heart is. I think Calia Quinn has it.

This book didn’t just break me.
It unmade me.

I swear I opened Psycho Obsession thinking I was about to read a dark Joker and Harley retelling, and instead I got dragged into a psychological funhouse where every mirror showed me a worse version of myself and I just kept walking deeper.

Calia Quinn is in my top five authors, but at this point she’s not climbing the list…she’s rewriting it in blood. Every book she writes is five stars for me, but this one? This one felt like she reached into my chest, grabbed something vital, and whispered “mine”.

The first half lulled me.
The last 25–30% detonated me.

I didn’t see a single twist coming. Not one. The unraveling felt personal. The spiral felt targeted. The reveal felt like someone snapped a glow stick inside my skull and let the neon leak everywhere. And the ending…that wasn’t an ending. That was a psychological cliff I willingly stepped off.

I finished the book and just sat there.
Silent.
Blinking.
Breathing wrong.

I whisper yelled “What the f#%k did I just read?!” like someone who had just witnessed a crime and wasn’t sure if they were the victim or the accomplice.

Calia Quinn writes like she knows exactly where your fractures are and taps them until they split open. She writes devotion that feels like a curse. She writes obsession that tastes like adrenaline. She writes characters who love like a threat.

And I need sprayed‑edge, foil‑stamped, altar‑worthy special editions of every single one of her books immediately. I want them displayed like relics from a cult I joined willingly.

PSYCHO OBSESSION starts H O T (not in a good-sexy way) out of the starting gate. WOWZERS! Hallow might have been skirting the realm of insanity from the first words of chapter 1, but after Miller and Dr Aris . . . well, and all the other men in her life—every single one—she becomes a shell. A ghost of her brassy self. Then Jex happens—her brother 👀—everything changes. Her world explodes into craziness. Then Ryker happens—another brother 👀—YIPES! The last quarter of the book explodes into absolute chaos.

Just know, the morally black in PSYCHO OBSESSION includes 📌INCEST -or- the impression of incest between the three MCs📌. Incest happens to be the ONLY trigger that triggers me, and it isn’t listed as a trigger on the content warning page or the author’s website. I figure that it is because of—as we discover at the end of the book—the actual ‘nature’ of the individuals may be gray here. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Do I recommend? Absolutely—Calia Quinn is the goddess of morally black and is a hell of a writer 🖤

What Thaaaa... F Did I Just Devour?!😳

Besties... what in the absolute psychotic, nightmare-fueled, rage-filled chaos did I just read?! "Psycho Obsession" is NOT a romance. It isn't dark romance. It's darker than dark. This book grabbed me by the throat in Chapter One and never loosened its grip.😬

Hallow's journey through the asylum was brutal, heartbreaking, and genuinely difficult to read at times. The psychological torture and cruelty she endures hit hard, and Calia Quinn's vivid writing made every moment feel painfully real. One quote that absolutely shattered me was: "I'm not Hallow Maddix anymore. I'm just a heartbeat in a box." 😢 That line stayed with me long after I finished reading.

Then Jex enters the story, and suddenly the chaos explodes into full-scale revenge, violence, and absolute mayhem. The asylum rescue scene had me holding my breath, and the action throughout Parts 3 and 4 felt incredibly cinematic. 😳

Hallow, Jex, and later Ryker are completely unhinged, morally black characters, and that's exactly what makes this story so compelling.

Read the trigger warnings. Seriously.💯

This book is pitch black, brutal, graphic, and utterly relentless. I spent most of the book whispering "WTF" to myself while turning pages faster and faster. Disturbing? Absolutely. Unforgettable? Also absolutely.

The book opens with Hallow in a mental health facility where the doctors are no better than the psychopaths they institutionalize. They have no morals, compassion or care for actually helping them; they're only worried about their own agenda.
 
This book kept me hooked at every corner. The story is intense, unique, and full of suspense which will leave you on the edge of your seat. The twists, secrets and pure insanity of the characters will leave you wanting more. Their lives are chaotic, dangerous, and out of control.

I don't want to give away too much so I'll just say that I can't wait for the second book!

Do not ignore the author’s warnings—this is an exceptionally dark read. Morally black characters, with dark romance threaded through horror and erotica, that push this story into genuinely uncomfortable territory. The trigger warnings aren’t optional—they’re essential. This is easily one of the most intense and disturbing books I’ve read, and it will not work for everyone. Approach with caution.

Told in alternating first-person POV, this story pulls you into the minds of morally black characters. Empathy is absent. Compassion is irrelevant. Boundaries aren’t tested—they’re erased, mocked, and ground into something unrecognizable. The story doesn’t ask for your comfort. It doesn’t pause for your approval. It keeps going, dragging you with it.

There is no promise of a happily ever after. Not in this book.

If you choose to read this, go in prepared. Set aside your expectations. What waits on the other side is chaos and madness.

🤯 I’m not even sure how to write this review. Calia must have sat at her desk and thought, “dark romance? Nah.” And just tossed that right out the window. “Pitch black? Nah.” Threw that away. And decided on something so dark it needs its own genre. This reached way past pitch black dark romance. This was a psychological mind f*ck. Hallow, Jax, and eventually Ryker makes an appearance. The three of them take you on one wildly twisted ride. This story is so warped, so horrific, it crawls into the darkest recess of your mind and laughs promising to never leave. These three had me wrecked. It was freaking wickedly hot and delicious. Brutal and wrong. But I couldn’t help but love every sick and twisted moment of it. My mind will never be the same. No therapy on this planet will fix. But I’m okay with that. 😈

1st off this is Pitch Black. Check those TW/CWs!!

I don’t even know where to start. It immediately starts with a slap in the face with spice and emotional rollercoaster. Then when something starts making sense, nah just kidding here is a corkscrew. Like wow. The explicit scenes are HAWT and gorey. Towards the end it was giving me whiplash but in the best way. If you think you figured it out… no you didn’t.

If the cover makes you think this is gonna be a “Joker” romance.. yeah no. It’s something sooo much more.

Darkness comes in all flavors
Im not even sure where to begin. I mean gurl! At the end I wanted to shake the book to see if id get more. That ending... harsh😫 I thought i had it figured out and was just coasting along in my happy darkness... until i wasn't.
When you break and break... keeping breaking after awhile it loses its fire or gets out of control.
You turn into a monster of someone else's making.
It bled and will return the favor. But who pays? All the faces and parts.
I had a hard time with jex not sure yet if I like him. He warrants more thinking.
I will say that family.... baby. Anyways Brilliant.

Harley Quinn and Joker retellings are a must read, and this one being a pitch black version, made it even more of a must read. When you read a Calia Quinn book, you know it will be dark, and this one was no different. It is dark and will have you asking yourself "WTF am I reading?" for most of it. It goes quite far off the standard Harley x Joker storyline and well into the realm of madness. Also, there is no HEA and it is SPICY. Read with caution and be sure to check the triggers if needed.

Hallow, Jex and Ryker are in for one hell of a ride in this very dark, black read. There is plenty of questionable things happening in explicit detail, obsession, manipulation, boundaries (what are they??) and so much more. If you like the pull of darkness read on, otherwise move along people, nothing to see here...

When I say check the trigger warnings I really mean it. This is not a romance and to be brutally honest, I am all for it. Sometimes a girl just needs something that is completely unhinged and darker than dark. This definitely meets that criteria and had me in a chokehold from the very beginning. If you are up for the chaotic ride that this provides, buckle up and grab a copy today.

The characters were very dark. Plot was intriguing. World building was solidly drawn. All in all a very good read. Recommend.

Hallow is institutionalised her mind fractured from what happens where the drs are worse than their patients but then theres Jax and Ryker, and with the 3 of them, does anyone stand the chance! This story is dark! Twisting, trigger warnings need to be heeded. And that ending well...
