The Colony Carnivale #21

Pyre: The Colony Carnivale

Rate this book
I was on the run so to speak, leaving a horrible marriage and something drew me to The Carnivale. It's dark, sensual and a place I felt safe. Three men claimed me. I thought I knew where I came from, what I ran from, and who I was in bed with. I was wrong. The one thing I knew is my guys would let me set fire to the world if I wanted and dance with me in the ashes.
All I have to say is "step right up" if you dare.

Twenty one down and this one threw me 🤣

Having met Dove, Riven, Saxon and Burke previously along with Charron, Isla and Brandt this encompasses all their lives but with Dove taking the leading role. We learn of her background, how the guys try to protect her from what they are but there are more secrets, lies and betrayal within those canvas walls 🤭

Glittered through this one (IYKYK) because I was invested in knowing about Dove, I certainly didn’t expect it to go the way it did and that made for a great story within a story.

Pyre is book 21 of The Colony Carnivale and HOLY SHIT this twisted little world just keeps getting BETTER!! I swear every time I think I’ve seen it all, another author comes along and proves me completely wrong!! 😂💀

WE GET TO MEET DOVE!! 🥹🖤 And OMG my heart absolutely broke for this woman!! After everything she’s been through, escaping a horrible marriage and finding herself at the Carnivale, you would think she’d finally found somewhere safe. And in her own completely fucked-up way, she has!!

AND HER THREE MEN!! 🥵🔥 Three possessive, devoted men who would literally let her set the entire world on fire and happily dance in the ashes beside her?! EXCUSE ME WHILE I SWOON!! 😍😍 The way they care for her, protect her and want what’s best for her!! I absolutely LOVED their twisted little family!!

But HOLY SHIT THE SECRETS!! 😳

The visions, the lies, the revelations about Dove’s past!! Just when I thought I had everything figured out, NOPE!! Everything gets turned upside down!! And that ENDING?! WHAT THE FUCK?! 🤯😭

I was angry for Dove, heartbroken for her, and desperately wanted to reach into the book and give her a massive hug!! This poor woman has been through enough!! LEAVE HER ALONE!! 😭🖤

And the whole question of whether it’s really captivity if you choose to stay?! Especially when the truth starts coming out?! OMG!! I loved how this story messed with my head!!

Also, can we just appreciate how completely desensitised this series has made me?! 😂 There are bodies, gore, soul-devouring horrors and all kinds of absolutely depraved shit happening, and I’m over here more concerned about Dove’s relationship and the secrets being revealed!! PRIORITIES PEOPLE!! 🤣💀

Dark, twisted, spicy, emotional and packed with secrets I DID NOT SEE COMING!! Cedar Rose absolutely delivered with this one!!

Twenty-one books into The Colony Carnivale and I’m still completely OBSESSED!! The interconnected stories, the disturbing characters, the twisted romances and the absolute insanity of it all!! I CANNOT GET ENOUGH!! 😍🎪🖤

STEP RIGHT UP IF YOU DARE!! 🔥🎪

Because once this Carnivale gets its claws into you, there’s absolutely no escaping!! And honestly?! I DON’T EVEN WANT TO!! 😂🖤💀

Pyre
by Cedar Rose

Incredible ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Book 21 of The Colony Carnnivale erotic horror series. Beware there's triggers galore.

What a brilliant and twisted erotic horror Pyre is by Cedar Rose, a truly outstanding tense thriller.
This is an incredibly addictive read, and I loved it.
In this one we meet Dove, imprisoned by her husband Brian, battered and bruised, when a man turns up and hands him money and grabs Dove, she finds she has been sold, when his grip loosens Dove take her chance to break free and run.
She comes across the Carnivale, it is there three men Burke, Saxons and Riven take her in and vow to protect her and keep her safe, they would to any length to keep her happy, all she has to do is ask.
Two years into her stay at the Carnival, Dove begins to have visions and finds Charron is also having the same visions, seeing her ex Brian, Riven, Isla, and they can't understand what it all means, Dove may have a gift that's being revealed.
Dove is devastated to discover her three men have been hiding things from her and is angry, and her visions lead her to the maze and show the threat and danger she is in from her past life.

"Pyre" by Cedar Rose is a 5-star erotic horror! Dove is back along with her gang of demons, Burke, Saxon, and Riven. We meet Dove two years in the past as she struggles through a relationship and learn what brought her to the Colony Carnivale.

Since there are demons involved, you know there is going to be plenty of blood and death! We get to see what the demons are responsible for besides just cooking their special hot dogs. In fact, I would love to learn more about Frank! The story is told through alternating perspectives, with chapters switching between Dove and one of the three demons. We also see the return of some characters from a previous book. I enjoy books like this that have strong connections to other stories in the series!

The ending took a turn I wasn't expecting, but I really enjoyed it! Although this is the first book I have read by this author, I am sure it won't be my last.

Thanks to Cedar Rose for providing me with the opportunity to read this ARC and share my honest review.

Dove and her "men"

I was excited to read Dove's story. I had no idea how much information she didn't know about the carnival and her men being demons was one if those things.

I loved seeing what brought her to the Colony and how it was just a feeling that led her to her men and the Colony. It's Bern two years since she arrived and she's in for some serious reveals. I couldn't believe some of the things she is just discovering. How in the heck did they keep all if this from her?

I feel like she should have been more mad/upset about all of the revelations but she mostly just rolled with the punches. The end of this one was getting dicey there for a while.

Dove is so sweet even with everything she has endured.

ARC Disclaimer 🖤🎪

Pyre focuses on FMC, Dove, and 3 MMCs. The novella starts with Dove's past giving good backstory on why she ended up at The Colony.

The story delves into her romantic relationship with the 3 MMCs in a reverse harem way. We find out more about many previously mentioned characters and sections of the Carnivale (Jasper, Skittles, Vlad, the zombie maze, etc.).

The storyline moves extremely quickly but there isn't an intense amount of descriptive detail and the romance scenes, personally for me, fell flat. I'm sure this will be someone's favorite novella of the series though!

PYRE

By Cedar Rose

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

“Need some company.”

PYRE a story that brings surprises and thrills.

This is about a girl who escapes her own husband and ends up walking into the Colony Carnivale.

The author has the right buttons pushed writing this story. It is good to have another angle to look at inside the carnivale. The twist and turns of events gives an adrenaline rush.

It just got me curious how Isla becomes Brute's partner.

A good glittery grab and an unputdownable read.

We finally get to meet Dove, a couple years into her Carnivale life. Is it captivity if you choose it? Even after you've figured out you've been lied to? Dove has three men who care for her and want the best for her. She begins getting visions, and they're disturbing for her and her partners. Her background wasn't the best, and truths she never knew were slowly revealed. I mean, like s*** gets really real at the end, and im even made for her on numerous accounts. I do know I should probably be more worried about all the gore and soul devouring going on, but the plot guys, I never miss it. 🤷‍♂️

Pyre - Cedar Rose

I’m so glad I got to see Dove’s book and we get to see more of these characters like Dove and Riven and Saxton. And this book has so many twists and turns that I was not expecting. I never knew where the story was going, and I had such a fun time reading it. The ending was so unbelievable. I hope I get to see these characters again before I leave the carnival.

Colony Carnival — Book #21
✍️ Cedar Rose

💀 Jess’s Skeleton Rating:

💀💀💀💀 — I was NOT prepared for the heartbreak this one delivered. 💔🎪

⚠️ PLEASE READ ALL TRIGGER WARNINGS BEFORE READING! ⚠️
The Colony Carnival has NO limits, so make sure you check those warnings before stepping inside. 🎪💀

💭 My Thoughts

I was SO excited to finally meet Dove and get to dive into her background! 🖤

And from the very first page... I was HOOKED.

Not only do we finally get Dove's story, but we also get to know her three men and learn more about each of their stories too. 👀🖤 I loved getting those extra pieces and understanding how everything came together.

Then Charron and Isla showed up... 🥹

YESSS! I absolutely loved them in Liquified, so seeing familiar characters crossing back into the story made me ridiculously happy. This is exactly why I love the interconnected world of the Colony Carnival.

But then...

THAT ENDING. 💔

Nope.

I WAS NOT PREPARED.

After being so excited to finally get Dove's story, you really had to go and leave me with heartbreak?! 😭

The Carnival clearly decided I was getting a little too comfortable and needed to emotionally destroy me again.

🎪 21 DOWN... 10 TO GO! 💀

We're getting dangerously close to the end now... and I'm not sure I'm ready.

🎪 THE CARNIVAL WON'T LET YOU GO UNTIL THEY SAY YOU CAN. 🎪

So, Pyre finally gives us more of Dove and her three men, Burke, Saxon and Riven! We also get to see some familiar faces again, including Charron and Isla, which I absolutely loved.

Dove has been through some seriously fucked-up shit. She escapes an abusive husband who treats her like she's nothing, and somehow finds her way to the Colony Carnivale. And honestly, despite everything she's been through, there's still something about her that makes her stand out. She's got this light in her, even in a place that's basically built on darkness.

The relationship between Dove and her three guys was something I really enjoyed, and I loved getting to know them better. There's plenty of heat, but there's also that feeling of them wanting to protect her, even when the Carnivale keeps throwing more fucked-up things their way.

Dove starts having disturbing visions, secrets begin coming to light, and suddenly you're questioning what you thought you knew. There are lies, betrayal and twists that I genuinely didn't see coming.

And that ending?! EXCUSE ME?! I went into this wanting to know more about Dove, and I definitely got that, but I was NOT expecting things to go the way they did. The last part had me sitting there trying to process what the hell I'd just read!

Pyre was an absolutely chaotic, deliciously twisted ride through the Colony Carnivale, and I loved every minute of it! The characters, the secrets, the supernatural shenanigans, and the unexpected twists kept me completely invested. Just when I thought I had things figured out, another revelation came along and threw everything straight into the fire. Literally, in some cases.

One of my favorite things about this story was the crossover with characters from the other Colony Carnivale books. Seeing familiar faces, watching their stories intertwine, and discovering how everything connects made the entire world feel so much more alive. I love when a shared universe actually feels shared instead of just having characters make brief appearances. And the supporting cast? Absolute perfection. The humor woven into all the darkness and mayhem had me laughing even when everything was going spectacularly sideways.

This one delivered everything I love about a good dark, twisted read. Secrets, betrayal, unexpected emotional moments, fantastic character connections, and enough chaos to make me question everyone’s sanity. The final stretch was an absolute roller coaster, and I was here for every unhinged second of it. I need more of this beautifully dysfunctional Carnivale!

Step right up, and prepare to be consumed.

I’ve been obsessed with The Colony Carnivale universe from the start, and Pyre might just be my new favorite! Cedar Rose delivers everything I crave in this dark, intoxicating series, lush, dangerous atmosphere, scorching heat, and a heroine who burns brighter than the flames she commands.

Ember’s voice grabbed me from the first line, naive at first, then fierce, unapologetic, and absolutely magnetic. Taken from her ordinary life and plunged into the Carnivale’s shadowy, sensual world, she doesn’t just survive it; she sets it ablaze.

And those three men?👩🏽‍🍳😘. Devoted, fierce, utterly hers, the kind of found family and all consuming love that hits so perfectly. The way they’d let her burn the world down and dance in the ashes with her! Swoon 🫠.

It’s dark, it’s fiery, it’s deliciously addictive, exactly the kind of immersive, high stakes read that keeps you turning pages long past bedtime. If you love dark romance, powerful heroines, and a setting that feels like a character all its own, don’t walk, run to this book.

Just heed Ember’s warning: step right up… if you dare.

Absolutely unputdownable. 🔥🖤

Pyre finally brings out Burke, Saxon, Riven and of course Dove. Readers also get to see Charron and Isla once more. Yet the story focuses more on Dove then all the rest. Dove's life was not an easy one as she was married to a man that kept her as a prisoner and sold her off to a man in a suit. She had no choice but to run away and in her running she found the Carnivale and Delirium. In the tent and in the depths of Carnivale Dove finds love with her men but sadly she also finds betrayal.

To keep her place in the Carnivale she begins to work the Delirium stage working as a fire dancer and fire eater. Soon her skills begin to change to something more. Dove begins to have visions that reveal not all is true and honest and that love can cut deep when it isnt't pure and true. If you enjoy stories with female rage and power with demons that will do anything to protect their mate then read Pyre.

I loved the story and hope to find out more about what happens next. Until next time, happy reading!

Installment 21 of the Colony Carnivale! Cedar Rose did an amazing job with this novel and plot within the series!!

I can’t believe that every author in this series brings an entirely different story to the Carnivale, yet they all fit so well!! We follow some of the characters we’ve met in previous novels, but finally we’re introduced to Dove and her story!

Dove has been dealt an awful life card in her beginnings from a horrible marriage to finding her own messed up life within the Carnivale, and THREE men who would watch her dance happily in the world burning! They show possession but carefully created in care and would do anything to see her happy and succeed!

Their relationship kind of reads in a reverse harem style, and we learn a bit of everyone’s back stories and how they came to fruition. I love this for them all, but that ending was definitely devastating and heartbreaking. I’m hoping to see more of them, even if in little bits, within the Colony and how everything plays out. I recommend definitely reading your trigger warnings and proceed with caution!!

✨ ARC REVIEW ✨

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I am reading this series as a set of ARCs.
They are all part of a shared Carnivale world and do have quite a few trigger warnings, so please check these before you dive in!

Well after so many reads within this Colony Carnivale, i thought that nothing could surprise me now… but… whoa!
I did not see that plot twist coming! 🤯

This read follows Dove and her entrance into the Carnivale. She stumbles into the Carnivale with nowhere to stay after fleeing from an abusive ex.
She stumbles upon 3 of the guys from the Carnivale and she chooses to stay.
She finds that she has a talent for fire breathing and setting things alight, so she chooses that to be her act.

There is a lot to unpack from such a short and twisty read.
I actually really enjoyed this one.
I’m not going to say anymore, at the risk of spoiling the plot 😉

Check your triggers Kittens, as usual this Carnivale is graphic and some readers may find it triggering 💋

This one feeds off one of the favorite in the series and that would be liquefy. Now can you read them as a standalone, yes but the characters are in books and plus the book is amazing so read it.
I love dove! I loved her in the first book and wanted more of her story and look and behold. Here we are with her 3 demons . And I am beyond jelly that she has a unicorns.
She has had a hard life before the carnival and I love that this one gives her backstory and see where she is coming from along with what happens next in her chapter. And the love these 3 men have for her is beautiful, exotic and pure. So come on for the ride and see how pyre and her 3 men live! But don’t eat the hotdogs!
I also have to say that this cover is amazing! Love the added touch of the fire cause she a fire dancer. I wasn’t planning on buy these books for my library but I think this one liquefied needs to be added! One of my favorite ❤️

I wanted more of Dove, Charron, Isla, and the guys and more I got with Pyre and oh my goodness did I devour every single bit of it!! It was soooo good! The twists and turns this took me on was like a roller coaster I didn’t want to get off of! Definitely not what I was expecting in the slightest and the shock of it all at the end had my jaw on the floor, still haven’t been able to pick it up. Dove is the go to fire gal at the Carnivale with her 3 men (most 🥵 demons headed your way here 😉). You get more of her back story and how she happened upon the Carnivale and met her men. Get more of her relationship with Charron and their connection. This was my first Cedar Rose experience and I will absolutely be looking up more of her work because it was just so so good. This was an epic addition to the Carnivale! If you haven’t claimed your ticket yet, what are you doing?!?

Dove and her fiery group introduced in an earlier story, get their own installment here.

Dove escaped an angry husband who controlled her. She's runs away after one brutal night. Her hitchhiking attempts being her to the carnivale. There are meets Riven, Burke, and Saxon. These demons fall for her and do their best to cater to her.
I really liked the poly relationship here, it helped to give that comfort to Dove that she sorely needed. Her visions were an interesting twist to the original plot. To see the story play out slowly and then having my favorite candlemaker Charron come back into this one was just happiness for me. Dove's embrace of all supernatural beings was an easy segue to the latter mysterious half.

I wanted to like this book more than I did. And honestly, the first 3/4 of the book, I was on board. We got a great backstory for Dove, her story that led her to Carnivale, her interactions at the Carnivale, and how despite how horrible everything is, she's still this beacon of light that they don't want to completely taint.

But then the book gets weird. We suddenly gets characters not acting like themselves with no real reason, and then when we do find out the "reason", we're left with more questions because it doesn't really make sense. It felt like we lost the plot for the last quarter of the book and things just needed to be tied up quickly. It just made things feel a little off.

Overall, good story, good installment, and good progression of the f***ed up world that is the Colony Carnivale.

Dove is on the run from her partner, Brian who wants to sell her for cash. After escaping, she finds someone to give her lift out of the city. They pass the Carnivale and she gets out. Drawn to it, she takes a step inside.
She meets Saxon and they go to the Delirium tent together. Then Saxon takes her to his trailer where she meets Riven & Burke.
They want to protect her and keep safe.
The guys have a mind-link and can talk to each other through their minds. They are demons - Burke (fire demon), Riven (chaos demon) & Saxon (hell hound).
Dove starts having visions and it freaks her out. She is known as a seer in the supernatural world.

Enjoyed Dove’s story. The spice is amazing and loved the storyline. A few shocked moments that I didn’t see coming.

We’ve met Dove, Riven, Saxon, and Burke before, but now it’s finally time for their story! And we get to see the backstory of how Dove came to the Carnivale, which gave me a whole new understanding of her.

I love Dove. Maybe that’s crazy, but I do! I hate what she went through in her past, but at the Carnivale, she finally became the woman she was always meant to be. She is the center of them all, and these men? WHEW! They are possessive, obsessed, and would literally set the entire world on fire for her. The way they are about Dove is everything!

But let’s not forget, this is the Colony Carnivale, and nothing is ever simple here. We get secrets, lies, gore, blood, and all the twisted chaos we’ve come to expect. It’s dark, depraved, and absolutely unhinged, and I wouldn’t expect anything less!

I loved finally getting Dove’s story and seeing how everything came together.

I really like Dove and her demon's when we met them in Liquified. So I was over the moon to find out that this was her story.

After Dove stumbled into the carnival after what she had gone through with her husband I thought she was going to get a nice story since Riven, Saxon and Burke all doted on her but nothing is ever that simple at the carnival.

I have to say that Burke is was least favourite, I just didn't trust him. The fact that he wants to keep Dove in the dark just didn't sit right with me. Riven and Saxon I loved equally as I got the impression early on that they wanted to tell her and would do anything for her.

I will admit that even with the Dove and Charron's shared vision I didn't see the twist coming.

I loved that we find out how Skittle became part of the story and Vlad's love for her.

“Maybe I should call the cops. Or a priest. Although, considering the people who live here, I’m not sure either would help.”

This one might have blown my mind the MOST! Cause THAT ending!!! 🫪🤬 I LOVED this book! Dove has finally escaped her previous life and finds herself hitch hiking straight to the Carnivale! Running into a man sexier than sin almost immediately, Saxon convinces her she’s safe there with his other two roommates Burke and Riven. Boy is their dynamic one for the books! 🤭 I love the love and how these boys make her feel safe and chosen! That PLOT TWIST tho, literally took me by complete SURPRISE 😮 Jaw dropped, like whatttt!!!! This shared world is mind blowing! 🤯

Another amazing installment of The Colony Carnivale!! I swear every author brings something completely different to this series, yet somehow it all fits together so well!!

This time we follow Dove, who has been dealt one awful life card after another, until she finds herself at the Carnivale with THREE possessive demons, Saxon, Riven, and Burke, who would do absolutely anything to see her happy!! 😩❤️

I loved getting to know more about their backstories and watching their relationship come together! Dove’s visions added an interesting twist, and getting Charron back in this one was definitely a bonus!!

But that ending?! 😭💔 Absolutely devastating!! I’m really hoping we get to see more of them throughout the Colony because I’m not ready to let them go

What a deliciously dark and captivating read! The Carnivale is filled with mystery, danger, secrets, and plenty of heat. Watching a woman escape a horrible marriage only to find herself claimed by three fiercely protective men made this story even more intriguing.

I loved the twists, the sizzling chemistry, and the way nothing was quite what it seemed. The devotion these men have for their woman is everything! They wouldn't just burn the world down for her; they'd happily dance beside her in the ashes.

This story has the perfect combination of dark romance, suspense, passion, and unexpected revelations. Once you enter The Carnivale, there's no turning back.

Step right up... if you dare! 🎪🔥

🚨CHECK THE TRIGGERS🚨 Now that you've been warned, let's go on. First off, the biggest and most disrespectful fuck you to Brian and Burke! 🖕🏼 More importantly, Burke how tf could you do that to Dove?! 🤬 He rightfully can fuck all the way off after what he did, damn cuntasaurus. Riven and Saxon's lying was annoying, but I see their point. Dove, sweet Dove, she already had Brian, a controlling, abusive asshole as a husband and she deserved better. I'm glad she found Riven and Saxon! Their lies, while shitty behavior, were pretty tame compared to what Burke did to her. The loss that she and Charron suffered was sad 😭. This one was a crazy ride! Off to the next! Thank you @cedar_rose_author for the privilage to be part of your ARC team!

Pyre, #21 in The Colony Carnivale series, was another great read! I was so excited to finally read about Dove and her three guys, and her story was absolutely crazy—in the best way. It had me hooked from the beginning, and I never quite knew where the story was going to take me.

I also love how, with each book, we continue to learn more about the other characters and get little glimpses into the ever-growing world of the Carnivale. There’s always another layer to uncover, another story waiting to be told, and I’m completely invested.

So… what’s next in store for me as I continue to wander deeper into the Carnivale? I guess there’s only one way to find out!

Welcome in! Welcome in!

Here's our fireball 🔥 I absolutely loved Dove and the guys. Saxon, Riven and Burke. We meet them at the beginning and some secrets are hidden til we learn somethings as we go through this story.
It was such a gripping story. I fell in love with it. Charron, a man after my heart in this one too 😩❤️
My favorite quote for this book has to be right at the beginning. "Something told me to stop. What did? I have no fucking clue but here I am, at a carnival in the middle of nowhere." And I giggled so much at that because the image in my head for this one 🤣
