Kylie Brant

The mother of five children, Kylie Brant claims she began writing to save her sanity. Plotting stories became her method of escape from the reality of constant ball games, chauffeuring kids, and refereeing "minor" disagreements between her perfect offspring.

In 1992 she was elated to get a call from Silhouette offering to buy her second novel. Home with laryngitis at the time, she still managed to croak out agreement, and her career was born. A few months later she went on to sell Rancher's Choice, the first manuscript she’d written.

Kylie is married to her high school sweetheart, and they make their home in Iowa. She insists that all her heroes are based on her husband of 23 years because he possesses that most heroic of make qualities — ironing skills. Those abilities come in handy, as she juggles a full time teaching job with writing and a family.

Doing things the easy way has never held much appeal for this multi award-winning author. She graduated with high honors from the University of Northern Iowa. A graduation photo shows her in cap and gown holding her two sons, one aged 16 months and the other three weeks. She went on to obtain a teaching job working with learning-disabled children while completing her master’s degree at night and during summers.

"There was a time in my life when I could imagine myself as a life-long student," she recalls. "I actually toyed with the idea of pursuing a doctorate. But instead, my life took a spin and I ended up writing romances. I’ve never regretted it!" Her family has since been completed by the birth of another son and a set of twins, a boy and a girl.

Kylie’s books are regularly featured on bestseller lists such as Waldenbooks and B. Dalton Bookseller. With over a million copies of books in print, her novels have been distributed in 20 countries and released in seven languages.

Family and friends are the main focus of Kylie’s life. When she isn’t writing or teaching, she enjoys reading and flower gardening. She loves traveling, preferring beach, ocean, and room service.

Dangerous Passions boxed set of 12 (Nina Bruhns)

Having read three of the 12 novels and novellas collected in this boxed set I have to say it is definitely worth the price. This is a great way to read new stories by a few favorite authors and meet some new ones. The books that I read were “Bridger’s Last Stand” by Linda Winstead Jones, “Shadow of the Hawk” by Julie Miller and “Dangerous Curves” by Nina Bruhns - I am looking forward to reading the other nine soon! Within the three love stories that I read there was adventure, attempted murder, high speed road chases, an archaeological dig in a rain forest, and some mystical happenings…not in the SAME story…but that will give you a brief sampling of what this boxed set has in just one fourth of its over 2000 pages. This is a boxed set I would recommend to anyone who likes interesting fast paced love stories with sexy alpha heroes.

11 by Kylie Brant, Oh the sick and twisted things authors can come up with. It’s been a while since I’ve read Kylie but the title of the book grabbed my attention and wouldn’t let go. I knew during the first chapter that the book was going to be a good one and I was not disappointed. An added bonus was seeing Adam Raiker back – who is from her earlier series Mindhunters.

The significance of the number is that is what the bad guy calls the women he kidnaps and “trains” to be the perfect women by torturing and raping them into submission. Mia was the one he called 11 and she was the only one to ever escape him. Its been five years and she has been on the run ever since but when a body of a woman is found, Adam has his suspensions that she is of one of the women who was held captive with Mia and goes to Jude Bishop who gave Mia protection after her escape and eventually fake identities to leave the country with to see if he can locate her so he can question her.

I saw in the dedication at the beginning of the book that the author thanked the person that helped her with location information for Vietnam. Those chapters that were in Da Nang were very captivating and some of the best in the book.

This held your attention from beginning to end. The author pulled no punches in having both the main characters having sick and horrific past. They were two broken people who had to learn to live again but were never going to be normal. I hope this is the start of a new series because this was fantastic and I would love to read more about the other men and women that worked for Jude.

EMBATTLED HEARTS by J.M. Madden, This book was so much more than just a romantic suspense book. The main theme of the series is how war veterans have dealt with physical and emotional injuries. We see many different facets of the vets from the homeless ones that just cant be around people to the severely scared ones that are afraid of what others will say about there looks to the just flat out broken ones. The author does such a great job in her descriptions of them you just cant help but feel there pain through her words.

John Palmer spinal cord was crushed and he is the angriest, foul mouth bear of a man because of this. We find out more about him in this book. He's never known love his whole life. Abandoned at an orphanage by his mother at the age of 5 he just drifted through the system until he was of age to join the Marines. In the Marines he was able to find the brotherhood he had been missing his whole life but when that is suddenly taken away he is only left with his anger. Its been 6 years since the three men got out of Walker Reed and opened the Lost and Found Investigative services. John was just going through the motions of living until they recently hired a new office manager. She had parts of him coming to life he never thought he would feel again. And when its found out she has a stalker he waste no time in appointing himself as her protector.

The story was a perfect blend of seeing where the 3 guys were, about the other vets they had hired to work for them and the mystery/suspense of who was after Shannon Murphy. I thought the emotions and feelings that John went through were a very realistic view of how I think a person in his shoes would feel. That he would never be good enough for Shannon being confined to a wheel chair. The romance was nicely done and the sex scenes were hot. Shannon was the perfect woman for John in both her sweet demeanor and understanding.

DEATHTRAP by Dana Marton, Another great suspense book from Ms Marton. There are so many mysteries throughout this book from who killed a woman today to still searching for a killer of a woman from two years ago to why a recent heart transplant recipient is drawn to a certain house.

The Chief of Police of Broslin, Ethan Bing has been in a fog since the death of his wife two years ago. It has made him question himself as a husband and Chief since he wasn’t able to protect his own wife. When the latest murder has some clues that seem to point to his wife death he begins to wonder if they really do or if it’s just wishful thinking on his part.

Sophie Curtis was born with heart problems which left her having to live a very sheltered life until she got a heart transplant two years ago. Afterwards she decides she wants to live which ends up with her landing in Broslin and buying a house after some force led her there. She’s always been fascinated with a house that is just down the street from hers which turns out to be Ethan Bing.

There are lots of things that go on throughout the book and you wonder where they are going and how they are going to be related. The author did a great job of making you think its one thing and surprising you with the truth. I highly recommend this book for those that like there suspense with a dash of paranormal.

IMPOSTER by Karen Fenech, This was a good fast paced suspense that kept you in the dark on who the bad guy was until the author chose to reveal it. Eve Collins life hasn’t gone the way she expected it to. After losing her child in an accident then her marriage imploding she also lost her job with the LAPD as a forensic specialist. She is now a chemist that makes perfumes along with her partner, Richard. What she doesn’t realize is that Richard has created a deadly chemical weapon and is selling it to the highest bidder. When he dies, while driving them to a conference, Eve’s life takes a big change when she is accused by the CIA of being his accomplice. She is taken into custody by a CIA Operative named John Burke. John is pretty rude for the first half of the book thinking Eve is a traitor and terrorist and doesn’t believe a word she says when she tries to tell him she’s innocent. But after attempts are made on her life he realizes she has been set up and the two of them have to work together to figure out whom the real partner was.

A lot of suspense

Fantastic box set a little of everything. Navy Seals, Spys, Transporters, Bodyguards, psychopath and strong women. Had this box set for a while, once I started reading it I could not stop. A couple of the books were a little slower than I liked but all in all the box set was pretty good.

11 by Kylie Brant:
This was a fast paced and very suspenseful fill ride that had me at the edge of my seat and not wanting to put the book down!
I was sucked in from the very first chapter and extremely intrigued by the story. Its dark and twisted and would make for a great movie.
I really liked Mia. She's very strong and brave for being traumatized and kidnapped. No one believed her story so she had to take measures into her own hands and protect herself. I could understand her hesitance to trust anyone. I really liked seeing the budding relationship and trust with Jude.
Jude. I adore him. People always look at him warily because of his scars. I've always thought scars told great stories. That he's a survivor. I love how protective he becomes of Mia. Even when she's not really his client. He's a very strong and brave alpha man.
This was a great romantic suspense read. I definitely plan on grabbing the rest of Kylie Brant's books. She has a way with writing that makes you want to keep reading right til the very end.

SEAL's Embrace by Elle James:
Woo this was a very hot and fast read. I adored Caesar. He's a big flirt and a bit of a ladies man but when he wants a woman he doesn't take no for an answer.
I love him and Erin. He really cares for her and wont let her go. I like that he's willing to fight to be with her.
Erin had been burned in the past and is afraid that she'll be just another notch for Caesar. But she cant help but want him and be jealous over him. The two of them are really cute and extremely sexy together.
I definitely plan on grabbing the rest in this series. Elle James sucked me into this one and I didn't want it to end.

This is my five star review on the following stories, I have read them before just not in this set.

EMBATTLED HEARTS by J.M. Madden:

John Palmer who is a Marine Gunnery Sgt. who was hurt was in was in the Marines. He is a Marine through and through.
ONCE A MARINE ALWAYS A MARINE. He is a partner in the Lost and Found Investigation Security services. Shannon is their administration assistant, she is very friendly and out going and John well is grumpy however Shannon starts having threats, John being a Marine and someone who has feelings for her steps up to the plate to protect her. You see a really romantic love story, with a romantic suspense mixed in. Ms. Madden writing shows you even if you are wounded in combat, you are just the same person inside. You will love this story, all the bodyguards are from the military yes they have been wounded in combat but that doesn't stop them, from protecting who they care and they are just so sexy... As a Wife of a Marine Veteran, I highly recommend this book, and all books from Ms. Madden.

IMPOSTER by Karen Fenech: This is a good story it hooks you from the beginning to the end. There is danger, suspense, hot and sexy love scenes all rolled into one..... I really enjoyed this book........

FLASH FIRE by Elle Kennedy: Navy SEAL "Cash" is willing to risk his life for his country. However he doesn't want his girlfriend risking her life by going overseas in a combat zone she is going there for a story. He is not happy, there is Hot and steamy sex scenes in this book. There is action and this book will keep you on your toes and make you want to get it all in once sitting. Get it today!

I read In too Deep by Opal Carew and really enjoyed it! The story was short, but packed quite a punch with it's mystery, angst and of course the sex.

Angel betrayed Frank in the worst way four years ago. She has been under cover in the mob for ten years and is so close to her target she can taste it. Not letting anything or anyone stand in her way, Frank was a casualty of Angel's obsession.

Frank is also in the FBI working undercover to catch the same mob boss as Angel, however he doesn't realize that just yet. The minute he sees Angel in the boss's office, everything from four years ago comes flooding back. What she did to him was unforgivable, however his heart doesn't agree.

Now that they have to partner up, Frank suggests the impossible to Angel, they get married. Only for show. He thinks the act would be more believable if they got married and hey, if it becomes real all the better. So starts their relationship of lies in the name of finally bringing Carlo the mob boss down.

These two start to have a hard time figuring out what feelings are real and what are pretend after a while as the line gets really blurry. While working on that, Frank and Angel actually have to try and get what they need to put Carlo behind bars without turning on each other first. To say there is a lack of trust on Frank's side is putting it mildly.

This novella was a great read and was a well rounded story with Opal Carew hitting all of the bases.

Great stories

I love a good character base. Military, police, and government agents tend to add an element of excitement and unexpected adventures. Two of these stories i had previously read and the last was a sequel to another great book. I loved this set.
