Intense

I found it hard to put this book down. Excellent read. This is a new author that has a lot of talent. The characters have been developed so warmly that you get wrapped up in their lives. I found myself chuckling, getting angry, butterflies in the pit of my stomach, even crying at certain parts in the book. That is what good literature should do. I cannot wait to see what happens in part two.

As a needleworker I’m very familiar with Thea Dueck, the creative force behind The Victoria Sampler. She branches out into cozy mysteries with the first book in her Threadneedle Mystery series and she knocks it out of the park. Combining a mysterious disappearance, an unexpected murder, a burgeoning relationship, and of course, some counted thread needlework, Dueck’s excellent writing leads the reader skillfully through a very engaging plot. The characters are fully fleshed out, the dialogue is natural, and there’s no silly “swooning”. Real people in a believable situation.

I enjoyed her descriptions of beautiful British Columbia. No flowery adjectives, just clear and engaging descriptions which made the reader feel like they are there and in the moment.

I’m very much looking forward to her next book!

Cozy is as cozy does

All too often books marketed as "cozy" seem amateurish, with weak plots and cardboard characters. "Embroidered Evidence" features interesting, distinctive characters and a well-crafted storyline. The design and execution by various characters of counted-thread needlework is a satisfying decorative embellishment. All in all, a well-designed piece, perfect read for a rainy afternoon. One niggle: the female protagonist who promises to "stay put" and then promptly darts off on her own is a tired and very annoying plot device.

Well-written awesome book!!!

This book is filled with several twists and turns. All the characters are well described even to the point that I can picture them in my mind's eye. The emotions the main character deals with seem so real.
I am a needleworker and love that Thea Dueck has written such a great book. She is as talented as an author as she is a needlework designer.
Well done, Thea Dueck, Well Done!!!
