Throw Me Something : A Mardi Gras Romance

Rate this book
Vayla Harris came to Mobile for a work trip… not for Mardi Gras magic, brass bands, and the kind of chaos that makes your heart skip a beat. But when a float rider locks eyes with her in the crowd and hurls a massive stuffed animal her way, she can’t deny something or someone has caught her attention.

Yoshi Amon Parker noticed her too. And now that fate has thrown them together again, he’s determined to show her the city beyond the parades… late night dinners, secret brunch spots, waterfront picnics, and the history of Mardi Gras she never knew.

What starts as playful flirtation between parades and cabarets quickly becomes something deeper. But Vayla is only in town for a girls’ trip, and Yoshi might be more than she’s ready for.

Will she take a chance on the sparks flying under the beads or let Mardi Gras…and him…slip away?

Vayla Harris came to Mobile for a girls’ trip.
Not for Mardi Gras magic.
Not for memories.
And definitely not for a man.

But Mardi Gras has a way of rewriting plans.

Between the brass bands, moonlit parades, and the electric chaos of beads flying through the air, one unexpected moment changes everything—
A float rider locks eyes with her…
…and throws her something she never saw coming.

Not just the oversized stuffed animal sailing through the night sky.
But attention.
Intention.
Possibility.

Yoshi Amon Parker noticed her.
And now that fate—and a well-aimed throw—has brought them together, he’s determined to show her the real Mobile:

What begins as playful parade flirtation turns into something deeper…
Something softer.
Something real.

But Vayla didn’t come looking for love.
And Yoshi might be exactly the kind of man she’s not afraid to trust—the kind who doesn’t make her shrink, question, or brace for the switch-up.

Now she has to decide:

Will she take a chance and embrace what is happening between her and Yoshi…
Or just let Mardi Gras—and the man who truly sees her—fade like the last float of the season?
💫 The Heart of the Story

This isn’t just about falling in love.
It’s about unlearning survival… and choosing joy.
About being wanted out loud.
About discovering that love doesn’t have to be chaotic to be real.

Sometimes the right person doesn’t chase—
He waits.
He shows.
He stays.

🎺 Final Thoughts:

Throw Me Something captures the exact feeling of catching beads in a crowd — unexpected, exciting, and suddenly personal. It’s festive, heartfelt, and full of the kind of serendipity that makes you wonder if timing really is everything… or if sometimes you just have to take the chance.

Entre les tambours et les lumières… c’est toi que j’ai trouvé.”

Meaning: Between the drums and the lights… you’re who I found. I think fits Vayla and Yoshi perfectly

Came for fun, but left with love.

My anticipation had been building since I saw the promo for this book, and it did not disappoint. I loved that even though I was extremely unfamiliar with the Mardi Gras culture, this book educated me, making it easy to follow. I just love how nothing felt rushed. Everything was organic and so descriptive that I could envision the different settings and dishes. The words truly came together and painted a picture so vividly.

Vayla and her girls went a trip to Mobile Alabama to get the full experience and to unwind, but this trip was more than they could bargain for. Initially, it started as a work trip that grew legs and took off into something more. As apprehensive as Vayla was about going, she knew that a getaway was probably what she needed.

Still healing from her past relationship and all of the emotional wreckage that came from it, romance was the last thing on her mind. She just wanted to get back to herself and just live a little. Unfortunately for her, chance didn't care about her plans and in came Yoshi.

Fate was doing its big one because what are the chances that you run into the same person again during wild and chaotic Mardi Gras? Deciding to be spontaneous and just live a little, she allowed Yoshi not only show her around, but she was also educated on the food, culture, and the origin of Mardi Gras.

Somewhere in between all of their shared time together, feelings were blooming and inescapable bonds were being made. Since the trip was only for the week, all good things had to come to an end. Vayla would be heading back home, and things would fall back into their normal routine.

Will those few days be enough as just being a memory in time, or will they take a chance on love?

You go to Mardi Gras for vibes and leave with a man….

Throw Me Something had me BLUSHING. The tension.. Immediate. The chemistry.. Electric. Yoshi is the kind of man who sees you in a crowd and never looks away and the way he pursues Vayla had me kicking my feet and screaming.

Late nights, stolen moments, and Mardi Gras magic that turns into something real fast. This is your sign to read it if you love insta-connection, soft but confident book baes, and that “this might ruin my life but I want him anyway” energy.

I also loved that we got to read Mardi Gras from a different state (the original city, if you know your history)

This book was an experiences

This was another great read by Nadia Nicole. I love the fact that this book wasn't just entertaining, it was educational. Not in a textbook kinda way but in a entertainment way. For example ill never been to Mardi Gras but after reading this book I feel like I have lol. P.S I'm even planning a trip to go to the same places the characters did because of how well the author described them. This wasn't just another read for me, it was an experience.

Yoshi is the definition of if a man wants you he will come get you (literally). Vayla is the definition of a woman scared to love again. But, a trip to Mobile, Alabama for Mardi Gras and throwing bears from a float have a way of bringing two strangers together. Where both get to calm their nervous systems! Read/Listen to this book if you want to feel calm, seen, & safe! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
