UGH. A book that should have been good, but fell woefully short. I felt I had been presented with a first draft, prior to an editorial look. So very many problems ... "cringeworthy" is not an overstatement.

Sentence fragments and poorly punctuated paragraphs abound. I quit noting the egregious ones before I was 1/4 through the book.

Way too many logical and descriptive errors ....

Mrs. Henderson visits at 9:15, her regular time, with her yorkie.
And then Mrs. Henderson visits at 11:00, her regular time, with her yorkie. HUH?

Maggie gets to the venue and is cleared for the VIP area before she sets up. Later, she's "cleared for the VIP area" and told to follow the blue signs.

Maggie points out the error in the "B" of her label to the detective, who notes it, but the fact is never mentioned again, and in fact some form of "copy my label" comes across several times. Later, we read “The label appeared to be yours. But the bottle itself was different. Different manufacturer, different specifications. Someone created a fake, a convincing fake, but still a fake.” although the label is what was different in the original description.

Patricia and Vivienne visit the dog show. We get the sense Patricia is a sycophant of Vivienne - a follower. So later, when this "dear friend" comes to dinner and insults Maggie, one wonders where she got that from. Surely she's mystified that Vivienne turns on her; she's mimicking what she's seen.

The descriptions of Preston's accounts is all over the place, and not logical.

Nora's chocolate-peanut butter-banana biscuits become a favorite among dogs. But chocolate is toxic to dogs, and someone serious about dogs and healthy treats would not serve even a small amount to a dog.

Good story

I enjoyed this book because Maggie is the underdog. She is smart and didn't let anybody mess with her.
The way she goes fighting for herself is great.
Will look for more of her books 🤗

Excellent story!

This started out with several problems! But each one had a solution even if they were very hard and dangerous to solve! Just when you think it’s over there is another chapter and then another one! I thoroughly enjoyed reading it! I hope there are more of them!

Good descriptions

The author gave a good description of the character Maggie's dog. You can picture the trees mentioned in the book.

I wondered what happened to Mrs Delancey's setters? There are some words on others but not on their destiny.

I really enjoyed this story. It was eye opening and had more oomph than just a fluffy cozy.
