This was just so much fun to read and had me invested and unable to put down at times. I loved the romance, the suspense, and the laughs throughout the story. Kate and. Luke’s chemistry was off the chart! I loved the surprise of Kate becoming Luke’s PA unknowingly and seeing Luke overthink every interaction and try to figure out if she’s there as a spy 😅 Meanwhile, Kate is just trying to make it through getting fired, her boyfriend cheating on her, finding out her one night stand is her boss, and loving her turtle Speckles. I loved getting to see Luke slowly realize that there’s no way Kate could be a spy coming after him, and loved the suspense and action added that literally had me on the edge of my seat to see what happened next. Overall, it was fun and entertaining!

I received this book as an ARC and thoroughly enjoyed it. Ariel Hendrix delivers a well-crafted rom-com suspense featuring a clever mistaken-identity premise. The writing is engaging and polished, balancing humor with intrigue in a way that keeps the story moving at a steady, compelling pace. The plot is concise yet entertaining, offering consistent moments of both comedy and suspense through to the conclusion. Overall, this was an enjoyable and engaging read that I would readily recommend to fans of romantic suspense with a humorous edge.

I received an ARC of this book and I’m really glad I picked it up. It was such a fun and engaging read that had me hooked pretty quickly. The mix of romance, humor, and a bit of suspense made the story really entertaining, and the mistaken identity trope added a lot of fun and unexpected moments.
The characters were definitely one of the highlights for me. They felt relatable and their interactions were often funny and charming. I especially enjoyed the dynamic between the main characters — their chemistry made it easy to root for them and kept me invested in their story the whole time.

I had the privilege of having this book as an ARC and let me tell you I literally could not put it down! I read this book in less than 24 hours. It’s a billionaire boss, rom com, ex military, mistaken identity, one night stand trope so if any of those are your thing you need to read this book! The characters are so relatable and fun, I especially relate to the FMC because she talks to herself and so do I lol. If you read MJ Hendrix book Big Shot, this is that book rewritten, I have read both and this is such an amazing rewrite, like I said I literally couldn’t put it down. Absolutely no notes! I would also really love to see this be made into a series.

I loved this!!! I received an ARC of this book and it was awesome! Super fun read. I absolutely fell in love with both Kate and Luke! This guy all the right notes for me. Hot billionaire sweet woman trying to take care of her family with danger and mystery and a cute turtle.

The moment I found out about this book I wanted to read it! I picked it up and immediately got into this story. I enjoyed Strictly Confidential so very much!
Kate and Luke's journey pulled me in right in! These two had a one night stand together. They're in for a surprise as Luke is Kate's new boss and Kate becomes Luke's assistant. The thing is though, Luke thinks Kate is a spy. They are about to shake up each other's lives and hearts for sure.
As soon as Luke and Kate met these two had me glued to their story! I so enjoyed how these two met and seeing them be brought back together. From their history, working together, Luke thinking Kate's a spy, things in their lives, and everything between them, I couldn't wait to see how it'd all play out for Kate and Luke!
I adored Kate and how relatable she was! Luke got to my heart! These two and their journey kept me on my toes. Luke and Kate were a breath of fresh air for me! Their chemistry was wonderful and blushworthy. Kate and Luke brought the feels!
Also, I gotta mention the adorable turtle, Speckles!

I could not put this book down!
I completely devoured this book a few years ago when it was originally titled "Big Shot".
It has now been revised and updated, and republished under its bold new title "Strictly Confidential".
(Also, "MJ Hendrix" has changed her pen name, and we can officially call our beloved author "Ariel Hendrix"!)
In this updated version of the book we get so many more details, even more plot twists, and spicy scenes that get cranked all the way to high heat!
This book is not just a romantic comedy.
It has FBI/ special ops action, crazy suspense, epic fight scenes, along with the yearning, the romance, and the comical banter between the main characters. I swoon every time she says "yes sir" to her sexy Navy SEAL billionaire boss. 😜
I wish I could go back in time and reread this book for the very first time again.
Also, I would like to add that the updated version completely fills all plotholes, adds even more action, and gives us multiple new spicy scenes! 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️
(I don't want to give too many spoilers, but I will just say that the desk that is featured on the new cover is VERY important!)
We also get to find out what happens in the end, and everyone gets the ending they deserve.

Started to DNF this book at the 30% mark but then kept going. I feel bad with 2⭐️ because it definitely is more 2.5 but here’s what I had to say when I was thinking about DNFing: I think this was a combo of the characters and plot. I don't love a "spy" mystery but then the enemies became kind of apparent. I was about 30% of the way in and characters popped up and I thought "oh, they're bad guys". And that kills the mood of the book.
That rang true for the rest of the book. We finish the life in danger mystery about 70% of the way in and the rest is…words. I think you could have wrapped up the big mystery in a few pages and not drawn it out. And then ended the book. You almost don’t need to read the end of the book.
These characters are kind of unbelievable, which I know isn’t the point of romance characters but the plot and characters weren’t unbelievable enough, is that makes sense. If you’re going to have a Navy SEAL who is in danger of being killed at any moment and has spies after him all the time, let’s just go balls to the walls with the other characters. Kate is too girl next door.
And then there is sex in all the places: outside of a hut in Tahiti, in an elevator, at an aquarium…all the places!
All in all, read it or don’t. I don’t know that you’ll regret it but you aren’t missing much if you don’t. And just know that if you’re thinking of DNFing, totally understandable.

Four years ago, I read a book called "Big Shot" by Ariel Hendrix (back when she was published as M. J. Hendrix), and I instantly gave it five stars. It was actually the book that introduced me to Ariel and her incredible work (who remembers her TikTok video? eheheheh).
Now, four years later, "Strictly Confidential" brings that story back, BUT EVEN BETTER. With several changes and improvements, the book has been reworked into a stand-alone, and somehow Ariel managed to make a story I already loved even more amazing. I feel immensely proud of Ariel, not only as a person, but also of her as a writer.
Revisiting this story made me so happy. I genuinely didn’t think it could get any better, but Ariel surprised me once again! With a new title, a gorgeous new cover, and a few adjustments that elevate the whole experience, this book feels fresh while still keeping everything that made me fall in love with it the first time.
If you love rom-coms with a touch of suspense, the perfect amount of spice, and characters that make you want to devour the book in one sitting, you’re going to adore this one.

A romcom where an ex-navy Seal turned billionaire businessman is convinced his newest PA is a spy sent to kill him which leads straight to utter chaos, mixed signals, and danger with a dose of steamy office romps and can’t keep their hands to themselves. It’s fun, with Luke and Kate indulging in a no name one night stand before they find themselves in the awkward position of him being her new boss which immediately trips Luke’s paranoia switch and confuses the heck out of Kate with all his hot and cold, and has just enough of that far fetched zany to keep it light while delivering a really great read about Luke’s last mission, the truth about why his best friend was murdered, and all that delicious alpha protective goodness that makes a heart skip a beat. It holds your attention from start to finish, the steam is delightful, and you genuinely just love both characters. A solid story that’s well worth the read.

and Luke… i loved that he wasn’t like the typical billionaire romance guys. he wasn’t arrogant, he wasn’t cocky, and honestly i just really loved his personality. he was protective of Kate in a way that had me kicking my feet… even though for like half the book he genuinely thought she was a spy on a mission to kill him 😭 watching him slowly open up to her was one of my favorite parts because he’s so closed off from everyone due to his past.

a romantic suspense featuring a billionaire x assistant? Sign me up! I had such a fun time reading this. After a one night stand, Kate is hired as a personal assistant. Turns out her one night stand, is her new boss.
Luke; a ex-navy seal is paranoid yet enamored by Kate, and they fall into a tension filled romance! But he suspects she’s a spy, after him for a mission that went wrong years prior.

This was such a fun rom-com with a touch of suspense! We get a billionaire ex–Navy SEAL who’s completely taken with his new assistant… while also being convinced she might be a Russian spy. So yes, it makes for a wildly entertaining read.
That said, I did feel like a few things were resolved a bit too easily or didn’t fully make sense within the plot, which affected my overall rating. But if you’re looking for a light, engaging story with great chemistry, delicious tension, a “should we / shouldn’t we” dynamic, and a hint of suspense, I’d definitely recommend giving this one a try.

Such a fun read!
This books had me cackling out loud in chapter one. The fun banter and commentary throughout the whole book was amazing and I loved it.
Kate was going through the worst of lows and just trying to shake off her bad luck and Luke ends up thinking she's a spy that's out to kill him. Which is ironic since I'm pretty sure kate can't walk 5 feet without causing some form of chaos 😂
They somehow manage to fall in love amongst all the crazy they get caught up in, while also solving a top secret investigation (ikyky).
The plot twist at the end was SO unexpected and Tin no way knew that was how it was going to end.
l've never read a Rom Com/Suspense but I'm honestly in love with it and need more.

Reading both Kate and the MMC Luke trying to keep professional after the initial hook-up kept me giggling. But it was unbelievably sweet how Luke even though he was suspicious Kate was a spy sent to kill him, he could not keep away from her.
I absolutely loved the ending with the spy reveal which I truly did not see coming. It was definitely different from Ariel’s other books but I would definitely read it again.

Strictly Confidential was such a great read by Ariel Hendrix! It’s a fun fast paced Billionaire Boss Rom-Com which follows Kate who’s recently been fired from her job and Luke her soon to be boss who’s a ex navy seal.
It’s got the perfect amount of suspense and spice for a rom-com and I just had an absolute blast reading it!

So I originally read this as Big Shot and loved it so much. Im happy Ariel went back and gave us the closer since she decided to make this a one off. I love the twist and turns of this book. I love Luke and Kate as much as I did the first time I read this!

Such a cute book! It was a super easy read and i enjoyed the story line. Finished in under 24 hours.

I absolutely loved this book the second time around. Even though it has been 5 years since I read the original version Big Shot and I forgot everything.
Getting to read the updated version like it was brand new to me was great.

kate get fired and she walks in on her boyfriend with her friend. she moves in with her friend and applies for a new job. her friend convinces her to go out and get wild. she’s drunk and a hot guy is looking at her. she has liquor courage. so she walks up to him and it’s over they down the night. next morning she goes home and she has a new job. the day she walks in to her job and guess who’s there to welcome her to the team. yup it’s luke for the night before. he’s a ex navy guys. his last mission was a bust and he lost men to the mission. he thinks she’s a spy to he need her close. too close that he falls for her and doesn’t care if she a spy or not. after all she everything he dreams about.

I wish the author was able to finish the series!! But I understand :( This is my first AH book and I'm so glad I discovered her on Instagram!
