The Reincarnated Mastermind: Sundering Fate with Magic Swords Volume 1

Rate this book
Ren thought his reward for being the first to clear the sequel to The Legend of the Seven Heroes would be personal satisfaction. So when he’s rewarded with “special content,” he quickly accepts...only to wake up as a baby in the game’s world. At first hoping he’s been reborn as the hero, Ren instead discovers his new life is that of the story’s shadowy antagonist, the figure suspected to be the mastermind behind the entire trilogy. Good thing Ren is fully intent on living a peaceful life in the countryside—without getting involved with any characters or world-ending plots. But when he crosses paths with the very saint he is meant to kill in canon, Ren realizes fate may be the ultimate final boss.

A fairly standard setup light novel for an isekai in which the main character is reborn as a kid in a world of his current obsession, a typical fantasy JRPG, a few years before said game start. In the game his character is one of the villains, so he decides to stick to his home and helping his family, but his unique powers and fate have other ideas in mind and soon he cannot help but change his path and that of others. Personally I find it a solid read, interesting characters, a main character who needs to work for his victories, cares about those around them and who does not appear to be overpowered, at least for now. The world is typical European-like fantasy setting, system light, but with a system at least for the main character. Character starts as a kid, but it is handled decently well. Curious were things are going and looking forward to the next volume.

My reviews are my own. If you enjoyed this book, I’m glad you did. If not, I respect your opinion, so please respect mine.  This is simply my view, so let's keep it courteous. My review is honest and voluntary.

Really enjoyed it until they introduced the petty female character, whatever her name was. What is the fixation of people in competing with others just to feel they are better? Petty! Will not continue the series.

On to my next adventure, Happy Readings!!!
