What Is God, And How Does It Work?: A Call for Honesty about Reality and Religion

Rate this book
This is the book I have always wished someone else would write. But they didn’t, so here we are, asking the tough, awkward questions I lacked the raw, honest courage to ask for so long. At one point in our lives we begin to realize the reason some of the things we have been taught don’t seem to make sense is simply because they DON’T make sense.
We are entering a new age, an age of brutal honesty and reform. Unlike many of our predecessors, religion-based fear and nostalgic social loyalty to inherited doctrines are no longer factors in our exploration and discovery process, and there are no subjects off limits.
Our greatest fear of truth is not that it might lead us to strange, new, unfamiliar places, but that it may lead us to where our hearts kind of always thought it would - to a place so much simpler and effortless. Come with me. Let’s explore our honesty together…

Ken has written a stunning and challenging book.
Let's face it, there are millions of books out there about God, religion and spirituality. There are endless books discussing theology and doctrines, espousing the virtues of a new revelation of the scriptures, or trashing the latest doctrines in favour of time honoured traditions.
This book is none of the above. Ken gets down to the nuts and bolts, the stuff that holds it all together. He ruthlessly examines the very makeup of faith, religion and spirituality in a way that is challenging and yet respectful.
More than anything its a call for absolute honesty and integrity in why and what we believe. If you are looking for a doctrinal thesis, detailed exegesis and biblical analysis, then you won't find it here. But if you are looking for truth with no additives, no colouring or flavours, then this may help you on your journey.
Ken carefully and honestly dismantles our religious assumptions and paradigms. But instead of providing an alternative - yet another religion - he simply inspires and empowers us to find our own journeys with honesty and integrity, uncluttered by the collective assumptions, traditions and dogmas of centuries of religious opinion.
What is God, And How Does It Work? is a life changer. However, it's not for those who don't like asking hard questions. It's not for those who think they have got everything sorted. It's not for people who are comfortable, with no desire to question, search and grow. But if you have ever had that niggling feeling you are missing something in your spiritual journey, especially if you have embraced traditional christianity, then please read this book.

Its possibly one of the most important and relevant, freeing and eye opening books around!
