Robert John Unstead is probably the most popular historian in the English-speaking world. His history books for young readers have sold over 6 million copies. He has a remarkable talent for making history exciting and readable. To him, history is colour, romance and adventure, not a dry study of dates and reigns.

While the book is older, the information is well suited to middle school students and anyone wanting a simplified understanding of castles in Great Britain.
