I received an Advanced Reader Copy of this book. My opinions are my own.
Mortal Love is a dark romantasy that embraces familiar genre elements and executes them with confidence and strong pacing.
The story begins with Delilah, a married woman in her thirties, undergoing brain surgery, only to wake up in the Fae realm of Nevaehun. From the start, the idea of standing between life and death, between one world and another, gives the story emotional weight beyond typical fantasy escapism.
The worldbuilding draws on recognizable romantasy staples such as High Lords, mating bonds, elemental courts and ancient weapons. Instead of trying to reinvent the genre, the author focuses on delivering these elements well. The setting feels immersive, the political tensions are tangible and the stakes steadily build throughout the book.
What truly sets this story apart is Delilah. A 30+ heroine is refreshing in this genre, and she feels grounded, self-aware and often genuinely funny. Her internal commentary adds warmth and lightness to darker moments, making the book highly readable even when the themes become intense.
The romance unfolds alongside political intrigue, and the balance between those two threads is handled beautifully. Power structures and tradition play a significant role in the story, and the narrative explores how those systems affect personal choice and autonomy. Some scenes lean darker and may feel intense for certain readers, but they serve the broader arc of the story.
The twists in the latter half genuinely surprised me, and the final stretch is emotionally satisfying and thematically consistent. By the end, the story feels complete in a way that honors both love and choice.
Not revolutionary within the genre, but a compelling and well-executed romantasy that delivers exactly what it promises. I absolutely devoured this book and loved every letter of it! Can't wait for the next book in this series!
Review of an advanced copy received from the author.
First of all, I am deeply honored that I was given the chance to read this book before its official release. From the moment I read the synopsis, I knew this story would be something special and I am so grateful I got to experience it early.
This book had me from the very first sentence. Completely. Utterly. Captivated. I devoured it in less than 10 hours because putting it down simply wasn’t an option. The writing pulled me under like a tide, and I willingly drowned in it.
Delilah was a compelling and fascinating main character, but let’s talk about the real fire of this story — Titus. Their dynamic? Explosive. Intense. Addictive. This is enemies-to-lovers done right. The tension, the hatred laced with desire, the slow burn simmering beneath every interaction, it was everything I crave in this trope. Titus was magnetic: dark, mysterious, possessive, and impossible not to love. Every scene with him felt charged.
The author’s writing style is undeniably beautiful, lyrical yet sharp, emotional yet powerful. There were so many striking thoughts and quotes woven into the story that made me pause and reread them. The atmosphere, the tension, the emotions, it all blended together in a way that felt immersive and consuming.
That being said, not everything felt perfectly seamless. The concept of the Law of Flesh was intriguing but at times confusing, and I struggled to fully grasp its purpose or logic. In the beginning especially, I found it difficult to understand where the romantic arc was heading, as Delilah seemed drawn to nearly everyone around her. At moments, her reactions to every new Fae (male or female) felt exaggerated, almost like an overly impulsive teenager overwhelmed by hormones rather than calculated desire.
The scene involving Aurelius, Cercies, and Titus also felt somewhat unnecessary, particularly considering what followed shortly after for Cercies. It made me question the narrative purpose of that moment.
And the ending… I’m still sitting with it. Processing it. I’m not entirely sure how I feel, and maybe that’s the point. But what I do know is this: if there is a sequel, I will be first in line. Because despite my questions, despite my confusion in certain moments, this story consumed me and I’m not ready to leave this world behind.
Stars: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ Author: @authork.rose POV: Dual 1st person Gene: Dark Romantacy Triggers: Very Open Door! Graphic violence, gore, & murder, SA, dubcon, captivity, cancer, etc. Read Time: 9-13 hours Expected Publishing Date: 3/18/2026 I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily
❤️ World Building: The world building was creative. Especially the transition from the modern world to the Fae world. The political system is unique as well as how they can test magic in blood. The mythology and the rules and stores with in the book make the world come to life.
❤️ The Characters: Delilah was an amazing MFC, she is strong and not really in a physical way, more of the kind of strength it takes to keep getting back up when everything wants to knock you down. Titus is an arrogant High Lord. Aurelius, & Cercies are his 2nd & 3rd in command. All three are very different from each other, but they have been “brothers” since childhood.
❤️ The Story: The story was breathtaking! It was so emotional, which I honestly wasn’t expecting with such a high spice level! I spent so much time crying in this book, lol. But it was also moving and the character development was just phenomenal!
❤️🔥Overall: I mean what can I say, you really should read this book!
🐟 Fish skin for burns Facts Inspired by the book: Skin grafting was already practiced in the Egyptian Empire. This ancient skin graft technique was already taking place in 1500 BC and was documented in an old papyrus role called “Ebert papyrus”. According to the “Sushruta Samhita”, one of the early texts of Ayurveda, skin grafting was also performed by the ancient Hindu more than 3000 years ago. Members of the Koomas Caste used subcutaneous fat and skin from the gluteal region as free skin graft. (http://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/...)
I received an advance copy directly from the author and what an honor it has been!
Mortal Love by K. Rose is a stunning romantasy that completely took me on an emotional ride. I laughed, I cried, and I found myself fully invested in Delilah from the very beginning. She’s a FMC you can’t help but root for — strong, layered, and deeply human even in a fantastical world. And the MMC? I absolutely loved to hate him at first… until I couldn’t get enough of the two of them together. The tension, the push and pull, the slow shift in feelings — it was everything.
K. Rose masterfully blends romance and fantasy in a way that makes both feel equally powerful, and the emotional depth truly sets this story apart. As an ARC reader, I can honestly say this book stayed with me long after I turned the final page.
And I cannot wait for MORE!!!! 10 out of 10 highly recommend!!!
Oh wow.... This book destroyed me in the best way possible, I literally couldn't stop reading, I read this in less than 10 hours, so make sure your schedule is clear! It's almost like a fever dream version of Lord of the Rings meets Court of Ravens, with dragons! The first chapter DEFINITELY sets the stage for the last chapter, and the second chapter sets the stage for the rest of the book. I laughed, I kicked my feet with joy, and I definitely cried. Twice 😅. If I could only read one book for the rest of my life, this is one of the top contenders. Now, please excuse me as I immediately read it again! 1000/10 ⭐, if you enjoy a good fantasy story with some spice, I cannot recommend this book enough. This book is absolutely mind blowing, and I absolutely can't wait for the next one (in a year 😭)
I am not much of a reader. But this book kept me on my toes wanting more! I absolutely loved it! Every emotion you can think of happened. I felt myself gravitating towards some of the characters story lines. Spicy for sure I loved all of it! I hope you continue writing more! ❤️
Such an amazing read! I couldn't wait to turn the page to see what Delilah would encounter next. Delilah is very relatable, your heart wants only the best for her! Every woman wants her powers and her man, Titus! Mortal Love is a must read!! You won't be disappointed!! It'll leave you craving more.
K. Rose writes Mortal Love: Realms of the After in a way that instantly pulled me in. The whole idea of Delilah waking up in a fae world after surgery felt both dreamy and unsettling. I found myself questioning everything along with her, which made the story feel very real and immersive.
What I personally connected with the most was her emotional struggle. She is caught between a new, intense connection and the life she left behind. It did not feel like a typical love triangle to me, it felt deeper, more complicated, and honestly a bit painful in a good way.
The world of Nevaehun is magical but also dark and layered. I liked that the writing kept things easy to follow while still building mystery. Delilah’s growing powers and the tension around her made me want to keep reading without feeling overwhelmed.
This book is definitely on the darker side, and some parts can feel heavy, so it is not for everyone. But for me, it felt emotional, bold, and different. It left me curious and slightly restless, which is exactly what I expect from the start of a series.
I was lucky enough to receive an ARC from the author.
A story about first loves, true love, soul mates, fated mates and what happens when that love gets tested. Delilah is sick and goes into surgery as a last ditch effort to save her life, but wakes up in a fae realm. Confused and trying to figure out why she’s there, we follow her journey and adventures to see if she makes it back to the human realm. She left her human love only to find her fae mate. Turns out there’s a very special connection to this MMC. Romance, enemies to lovers, betrayal, dragons, looming war, power struggle and so much more!
Wow! What a story. Such an emotional rollercoaster in the best way possible. I laughed, I cried, I got angry. Honestly probably my favorite read of 2026 so far. A very interesting plot, twists and the ending truly left me speechless. At times I found myself second guessing the mates. Great world building and character relationships. Lots of spice, but there’s so much more to the book than that. I am very interested to see where this goes! 5 books planned for the series!!
If you’re into fantasy with just the right amount of spice and emotional chaos, Mortal Love absolutely delivers. This book pulled me in fast. The fantasy elements feel rich without being overwhelming, and the romance? Tense, addictive, and so worth the slow burn. The chemistry between the characters builds in a way that keeps you hooked the entire time. The pacing was solid, the tension stayed high, and I never felt bored. It’s one of those books where you keep saying “just one more chapter” and suddenly it’s 2 AM. It gave me ACOTAR vibes and really pulled me in right away. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who likes the fantasy vibes. This was one of the best fantasy books I’ve read since ACOTAR.
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️ *Not something I typically note in reviews but definitely take note of the trigger warnings, this book was intense and may not be for everyone. Tropes: Enemies to lovers, urban fantasy (fae/mortal world crossover), morally gray MMC, touch her and die, prophesy and fate, emotional scars, political intrigue
Memorable Quotes: "I no longer saw her as flesh, but as a vessel of pure, indomitable will, a force of nature wrapped in mortal skin." "Perhaps a female's power was never in brute strength, but in her capacity to love. Because love could make even the most powerful males kneel, burn, and become reckless, and the devotion they'd commit in its name was the deadliest power of all." "I would set the world ablaze for you." "Across dimensions and time, I would find her over and over again."
I am so grateful to the author, K. Rose for reaching out to me about this ARC availability. This is my honest opinion and review. I inhaled this book in two days because it was absolutely incredible from beginning to end, pulling you in and then emotionally devastating you in the most delightful way possible. The pacing throughout was spot on and the story flows effortlessly, maintaining engagement and interest with ease.
FMC Delilah is a married early thirties woman (which sold me initially as sometimes a break from the younger characters is refreshing), who finds herself plunged into the middle of a Fae kingdom after undergoing brain surgery in the mortal realm. It is unclear as to whether this is all a wild fever dream or something more, but as she comes to terms with her new surroundings and reality, we find just how rare and valuable she really is-the security of the kingdom rests heavily upon her shoulders and her ability to uphold a fated prophesy. Delilah's keen awareness of her mortality and fragility add to her strength and resilience, this girl has been through it and still manages to continue showing up with her head held high. Her wit and tenacity, devotion to her friend and husband, as well as her self-awareness and sass make her an extremely likable main character, even during more intense or dark portions of the book.
MMC Titus is a true fire daddy-a powerful and wildly arrogant High Lord who is intense, magnetic and possessive. His relationship with Delilah is initially transactional and one of convenience but it was a joy to see him soften and realize her worth, rather than viewing her as a means to an end. Their firey dynamic (pun intended) drove the story forward but the plot twist in the caves? AMAZING. The tension (both political and personal) and emotion woven throughout the story was beautifully written, and the complexity of the side characters' roles to the plot? Chef's kiss.
No spoilers here but I think my favorite part of the book was the reincarnation concept of moving from one world to the next, rather than a more traditional "wall" or "veil" that separates the moral and Fae worlds. While parts of the typical romantasy genre were pretty standard, like magic, fae, dragons, mate bonds, High Lords and elemental courts, the introduction of this idea and importance to the plot was definitely novel. This book was truly a roller coaster of emotions, I laughed, I gasped, I got angry, I cried, and I cannot WAIT for the rest of the series. Highly recommend!
I devoured this book. Every word. Every page. Until there was nothing left—and even then, it still wasn’t enough. Mortal Love didn’t just break my heart; it shattered it, rearranged the pieces, and left me hollow and desperate for more. When I say this is a must‑read, I mean clear your schedule, grab tissues, and prepare to fully surrender to K. Rose’s mind—because once you begin, there is no easy way out.
Without revealing any spoilers, here’s what you’re walking into:
• A fiercely relatable 32‑year‑old FMC • Morally grey MMC • A seamless collision between the real world and the Fae realm • Dark, intense themes—read the trigger warnings • Unhinged, unapologetic heat • And yes… DRAGONS
The story follows Delilah, a woman with a loving husband who is preparing to undergo a dangerous surgery in the hope of extending her life. But when she wakes up, it’s not in a hospital bed. It’s in another world—one where pain no longer exists, where sickness has vanished, and where her body feels whole for the first time.
Delilah wakes in the Fae realm. And the Fae realm is not beautiful in a gentle way—it is beautiful like a blade. Ancient. Predatory. Alive. It is ruled by power, secrets, and bargains that always demand more than you’re willing to give. Magic seeps into everything, watching, waiting, binding souls to destinies they never agreed to. Nothing there is free. Nothing is given without consequence. The Fae do not save you—they claim you.
Mortal Love is haunting, feral, and unforgettable. It sinks its claws into your soul and refuses to loosen its grip, leaving you wrecked, aching, and desperate for more long after the final page. This book doesn’t end—it lingers.
As a debut, Mortal Love is nothing short of astonishing. This is a declaration—swoon‑worthy, brutal, and unforgettable—marking K. Rose as an author ready to dethrone the genre’s reigning queens. She builds a hauntingly beautiful universe of interconnected realms, all bound together by one devastating truth: the soul is everything.
Mortal Love by K. Rosé is one of those stories that stays with you long after you finish the last page. Delilah has already lived through more heartbreak than most. After losing her first fiancé, she finds love again, only to be faced with a devastating diagnosis and a final, life-threatening brain surgery. Fully believing she won’t survive, she wakes up somewhere entirely unexpected—not in a hospital, but in a strange world that feels very foreign. What unfolds is a beautifully layered journey between the mortal and Fae realms. The concept that souls transition into another world after death is handled in a way that feels fresh and immersive, with vivid descriptions that make it easy to picture every scene.
At the heart of the story is Delilah’s relationship with the King of Flame—a character who is guarded, intense, and resistant to love for reasons that slowly unfold. Their connection builds in a way that feels both fated and hard-earned. When the truth about his past and his connection to Delilah comes to light, it adds an emotional depth that genuinely hits. The story balances romance, grief, and destiny in a way that feels raw and real. Delilah’s memories of her mortal life contrast beautifully (and painfully) with her new existence, especially as she begins to embrace who she’s becoming. The training, the prophecy, the looming danger—all of it keeps the story moving while still leaving room for emotional moments to land. The ending is heartbreaking and powerful. Just when you think you understand what’s real, you’re pulled back into uncertainty, leaving you with a cliffhanger that makes you need the next book immediately.
Overall, Mortal Love is a dark, emotional romantasy that explores what it means to love, lose, and find your way back to something—or someone—you thought was gone forever. If you enjoy stories with strong emotional stakes, layered characters, and a touch of fate and prophecy, this one is absolutely worth the read.
I received a free copy of this book from K. Rosé in exchange for an honest, voluntary review.
I do not know how to express or even comprehend my feelings after finishing this book. The ending crushed my soul, rebuilt it, and then left it hanging on a ledge. This is one of those books that truly feels like you are going on a journey. It starts in pain, sadness and a sense of hopelessness. Then takes you on a journey of awe and wonderment. Only to snatch that a way and replace it by frustration, loathing, and fear. Then you come back to elation, love, and acceptance. Just to have it snatched away again. This book covers ever single emotion you could possible go through. It almost feels like youre going through the stages of grief. With the fmc. But the ending, the ending brings this full circle while leaving you hanging on a cliff hoping there is another page you can turn to that will continue the story.
I'm giving absolutely nothing away. I will tell you that you will be sucked in and not want to put the book down. I will tell you that this story is dark, wonderous, and hauntingly beautiful. It is a story of fight, survival, and a sheer will to live. It's learning to love through devastation. Learning to heal after trauma. Facing a new world after a rebirth. And learning to say goodbye to a life you have outgrown.
The love story in this book is not one you've experienced before. It's not a why choose, it's not a true Enemies-to-lovers, and it's not gentle either. It's a story of souls finding a way back to each other in the next life after being ripped apart in their previous one. But they face battles, some of their own making and some, from outside influence.
K. Rosè built an amazing world centered around complex realms, a hierarchy of souls, plot twists for days, and an ending that left me speechless. I can't wait to see how she continues the story in book 2.
I just finished Realms of the After: Mortal Love by K. Rosé, and honestly, I’m still processing that ending. If you’re tired of the typical "teenage girl saves the world" trope, you’ll love Delilah. Having a heroine in her 30s makes such a huge difference; she feels like a real person with a real past, which makes her internal conflict feel so much heavier and more grounded. The core of this book is a brutal emotional tug-of-war. On one side, you have her husband back in the mortal realm, and on the other, this electric, fated pull toward the High Lord of Flame. The author doesn’t make it an easy choice, either. The chemistry here is top-tier—it’s definitely spicy, but it doesn't sacrifice the actual plot just to get there. The "Law of Flesh" adds a layer of high-stakes fae politics that kept me totally hooked, even when the world-building got a little bit dense at times. The writing style is super punchy and evocative. There were several moments where I literally had to stop and highlight a line because the emotional resonance hit so hard. It’s not a "perfect" book—some of the side characters make impulsive moves that made me want to shake them, and there are a few minor plot holes—but the emotional payoff is 100% there. That cliffhanger, though? It's absolutely criminal and leaves the door wide open for the sequel. I need the next book immediately to see how Delilah handles the fallout of her choice. If you want a dark romantasy that actually respects its characters' maturity while delivering on the steam and drama, definitely give this a read
This story immediately hooked me with its irresistible premise: waking up from life-or-death surgery only to find yourself in a lush fae realm where nothing feels imagined, including the parts of yourself you’ve never dared to explore.
Delilah is such a compelling heroine because her conflict isn’t just external (learning Nevaehun’s rules, navigating fae politics, uncovering hidden magic), it’s deeply internal. She’s torn between loyalty to the life and love she left behind and the intoxicating pull of the one unfolding before her. That emotional tension gives real weight to every romantic and magical development.
The worldbuilding is lush and immersive, full of court intrigue, dragon lore, and simmering power dynamics that keep the stakes high. I especially enjoyed the morally grey characters and the slow unraveling of Delilah’s abilities, it adds a sense of destiny mixed with danger that makes turning the pages effortless.
Romance readers who love fated connections, enemies-to-lovers tension, and complicated relationship dynamics will find plenty to savor here. The story leans into themes of self-discovery, longing, and the courage it takes to claim the version of yourself you truly want to be.
Overall, this is a dreamy, emotionally charged portal fantasy with heat, heart, and intrigue, perfect for readers who enjoy fae romance layered with identity, choice, and the seductive pull of a second chance at life.
This book completely captivated me from the very first page—I’m talking full-on couldn’t-put-it-down energy 😩📖 Delilah’s story hit hard. She starts off battling cancer, going into surgery… only to wake up in the Fae Realm 👀✨ The emotional whiplash alone had me hooked, and it just kept delivering from there. Now let’s talk about Titus… because whew 😤 I did NOT like that man at first. At all. But somehow, K. Rose works her magic and slowly pulls you in. I did end up loving him, but not without constantly questioning if he was really the right choice for Delilah. And honestly? That tension made the story even better 🔥 The twists in this book?? INSANE. Just when you think you know who you’re rooting for… think again. Nothing is as straightforward as it seems, and I was living for every shocking turn. One of my favorite parts was the concept of life and rebirth—the idea that dying in the human world leads to being reborn in the Fae Realm. It added such a unique and fascinating layer to the story 🌙🖤 And the writing? So smooth, so immersive—I absolutely devoured this book. But that ending… 😭💔 I am STILL recovering. Just… wow. Huge thank you to the author for taking me on such an emotional rollercoaster. This one is going to stick with me for a long time.
I really enjoyed Mortal Love by K. Rosé. The story hooked me right from the beginning from learning about Delilah's mortal life to waking up in the Fae realm after experimental brain surgery, and I was immediately pulled into the mystery of whether Nevaehun was real or something else entirely. The worldbuilding felt immersive, with fae politics, dragons, and the intrigue of the royal court creating a setting that kept surprising me. There are so many different directions the story takes—some I expected and some I definitely didn’t—which made it hard to stop reading.
What really stood out to me was how emotional the story felt. It’s one of those books that breaks your heart and then slowly pieces it back together again, over and over. Delilah’s journey of discovering her power, navigating complicated relationships, and figuring out who she wants to be made the story feel intense and personal. Between the morally gray characters, the tension-filled romance, and the emotional twists, this book kept me completely invested. I’m honestly so excited to see where the story goes next because this first installment feels like it’s only the beginning.
This is absolutely the BEST book I’ve read in a long time!! This one will make the bestseller list I have no doubt watch and see!!This story is not only good but it’s POWERFUL, ALL-ENCOMPASSING and will not let you go, as YOU will NOT want to put it down. Delilah MFC goes through so much and is the strongest person you will come to know. She will have struggles between the past ,present, and future, and believe me she more than deserves the happiness she seeks and wants to hold onto. Delilah finds answers in the most unusual places, including the world of the Fae…There’s sadness, happiness, romance, this book literally has it all, including a story unlike anything you have read before!! Just when you get comfortable, don’t count on it….. this author knows how to surprise you!! I’m not giving away any spoilers so I will simply say , DO NOT PASS UP THIS BOOK!!! HUGE MISTAKE!!! I got the ebook but I’ll be adding the hardcover to my permanent library as well . This book is that good!!! K. Rose , well done!!!! Great spice?? YES…..Cliffhanger?? YES…..Will you be getting book 2 ?? YES…. You will……
Title- Mortal Love: Realms of the After Author- K. Rose Rating- 5/5
Not every fantasy book leaves you feeling this conflicted, but Mortal Love: Realms of the After definitely did that for me. It starts with a situation that already feels tense, and then suddenly shifts into a completely different world that is both beautiful and unsettling. I found myself constantly wondering what was real and what was not, which made the reading experience quite gripping.
The characters, especially Delilah, make choices that are not easy to agree with, but they feel human. The emotions are messy, and the relationships are complicated in a way that is not always comforting. Instead of giving a simple love story, it shows how difficult it can be to choose between desire, loyalty, and identity.
By the end, I was still thinking about the story and where it might go next. It feels like a story that is still unfolding, with much more left to explore. If you are someone who enjoys darker, emotional reads that make you think rather than just entertain, this one might work really well for you.
Delilah has always had a rough life…but dying from cancer? That’s just a freaking cherry on top. Delilah and her husband, Jared, are trying one last risky surgery to save her. When she opens her eyes from surgery she realizes she’s not in the hospital anymore but in a beautiful forest. She thinks well I must have died or this is a verrry vivid dream. When she gets injured- she is saved by two of the most beautiful males she’s ever seen…and they are riding dragons! The males are not mortal but fae…they take her to their king, High Lord Titus. An insufferable, cocky, brutal, painstakingly beautiful male…who needs her help. Is this all just a dream? Or is this her new dangerous reality?
This book was like a gut punch to alll the feels multiple times over and over again. Delilah lost Danny, found Jared- lost him, to find Titus/Danny, to lose him AGAIN to come back to the mortal world and lose Jared all over again by dying! How many heartbreaks are you going to put me through in one book?!
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
I picked up Mortal Love: Realms of the After by K. Rose, and honestly, it felt like stepping into a completely different mood than what I usually read. The story has this dreamy vibe, where nothing feels fully certain. One moment it feels like an escape into a beautiful fantasy world, and the next, it reminds you that something is not quite right.
What I enjoyed most was the atmosphere and the slow pull of the story. Instead of rushing, it lets you sit with Delilah’s confusion, her desires, and the strange world around her. The romance is intense, but more than that, it feels like a journey of her discovering parts of herself she had buried for a long time. It is less about choosing between two people and more about understanding who she is becoming.
By the end, I didn’t feel like I had all the answers, but I think that is the point. It leaves you with a lingering feeling rather than a clear conclusion. It is the kind of book you read when you are in the mood for something emotional, slightly dark, and a little thought-provoking rather than something light and predictable.
This book screams “i’m here for the spice, not the plot!” because truly, there are so many holes in the plot itself. And the spice is sparse. The story has potential, but the writing is choppy and rushed. The jump from Ch2 to Ch3 was jarring. I won’t lie. It didn’t make sense to me… We start out in a low. Sadness. Loss. Trauma. Mortality. Then…👀 Seem to be rapidly going through the romantic entanglements. Fae are by nature sexual beings, but even this feels rushed with no true development.
Also, it irks me when people hold their past intimacies against them. What matters, what is logical, is what happens once the relationship begins… not who came before.
wait, when tf did she get a mate mark?!?! that’s a major writing error… because much later…
she has this “endgame” goal that doesn’t align with her reality. i can’t be more specific without spoilers - but seriously selfish and shortsighted.
This book really pulled me in, especially because of the mystery surrounding what was actually happening to Delilah. From the start, I found myself constantly wondering what was real — was she alive, dreaming, or somehow caught between worlds? That uncertainty made the story very compelling for me.
The beginning of the book was particularly strong. It immediately captured my attention and made me want to keep reading to figure out what was really going on. I love stories where you don’t immediately understand everything, and this one kept that sense of intrigue for a long time.
I also enjoyed the idea of Delilah being caught between two worlds — her human life and the strange new realm she finds herself in. It creates an emotional conflict that adds depth to the story.
Overall, I found it to be a captivating read with a very strong opening and an interesting premise. For me, it’s a clear 4-star book, and I’m curious to see where the story will go next.
This book! This book is an amazing story with a lot of ups and downs, making you say just one more chapter. I thoroughly enjoyed this book from start to finish. The ending is OMG!!! The way the author explains everything in such detail really immersed me and really put me there in the story. I honestly really thought the detail and world building were very well written. The spicy scenes were a lot of fun and not overly done. They left little to the imagination but were still very tasteful. There are not very many books that captivate me and grab my attention like this did. It had me smiling, laughing, and, as a man, I am not proud to admit, but yes, even crying. This book really pulls on the heart. I loved this book and I will be recommending this book to everyone. I can’t wait to see where this story goes. I’m fully invested in this series.
- Romantasy - Why choose - Homework assignment - Dark romance - Enemies to lovers
This is not your typical romance book. It was a very interesting take on the afterlife. I didn't exactly know at first the direction this was going to take and I did shed a few tears in the beginning.
Where normally when beings pass from one realm to another, they don't remember their other steps in their journeys, but that's not the case for Delilah. She awakens from surgery to find herself in a realm that is full of magic and dragons. All she wants is to return home to her husband....
She makes a deal with Titus, the High Lord of the realm, to retrieve an item in exchange for passage back home. But is that possible now? She also finds out she is the mate of Titus....and maybe a few others...
This was a very original and action packed story. And the homework assignment? IYKYK
I was lucky enough to be a beta reader for this book. As an avid reader of the fantasy and romantasy genres, trust me when I tell you I could NOT put this down. I was talking to anyone who would listen about it. This book feels familiar (with elements like dragons and magic) while being COMPLETELY unique. It was unlike anything I have read before. This book had me gasping, giggling, and at times sobbing. K. Rosé cultivates a beautiful story and had me hanging on to every word. Plus, I think we can all agree a book is more appealing when the FMC isn’t some 18 year old, but rather someone a little older that we feel like we can relate to. The ending of this book has me absolutely FERAL for more. I cannot wait for the next one.
Mortal love I received an advanced reader copy of this book. My opinions are my own. The imagery and world building is very vivid and easy to imagine as you read. The main character has gone through a lot and is very relatable and real and raw. Dragons- naturally cool but this book gives them so much personality. Overall, this book pulls at your emotions and has very robust well written characters. I enjoyed this book from start to finish and it captured my attention.
My only complaint was that some of the scenes like the intimate scene between the 3 males and Delilah seemed unnecessary. Also, some of the dialogue was at times a little unrealistic and felt forced.
I will however say I will come back for future books and look forward to continuing the story.
I’m a little stuck with this one. For the plot and overall story idea, it’s easily a four-plus-star read. I’m genuinely interested in the next book and curious to see where the author takes things.
Where I struggled a bit was with the writing. At times it felt a little juvenile. Some word choices were very modern, while others felt quite archaic. A mixed style can work, but there were moments when it pulled me out of the story.
This goes without saying—please check the content warnings, as there are some triggering topics. It’s a dark romantasy with a strong FMC lead, and I genuinely loved her character. I wasn’t the biggest fan of the MMC, though—I’m Team Jared all the way.
Still, it has an engaging plot and a unique story premise.
ARC Reader Confessional – Realms of the After: Mortal Love by K. Rosé
Realms of the After: Mortal Love explores the idea that love doesn’t always stop where life does. The story blends romance and supernatural elements to create a world where connection stretches beyond the boundaries of the mortal realm.
What stood out most to me was the emotional thread running through the book. There’s a sense of longing and devotion that carries the story forward and keeps you invested in the characters and their journey.
With its paranormal backdrop and focus on enduring love, this was an engaging read that offers a slightly haunting, heartfelt take on romance.
