I received an Advanced Reader Copy of this book. My opinions are my own.

Mortal Love is a dark romantasy that embraces familiar genre elements and executes them with confidence and strong pacing.

The story begins with Delilah, a married woman in her thirties, undergoing brain surgery, only to wake up in the Fae realm of Nevaehun. From the start, the idea of standing between life and death, between one world and another, gives the story emotional weight beyond typical fantasy escapism.

The worldbuilding draws on recognizable romantasy staples such as High Lords, mating bonds, elemental courts and ancient weapons. Instead of trying to reinvent the genre, the author focuses on delivering these elements well. The setting feels immersive, the political tensions are tangible and the stakes steadily build throughout the book.

What truly sets this story apart is Delilah. A 30+ heroine is refreshing in this genre, and she feels grounded, self-aware and often genuinely funny. Her internal commentary adds warmth and lightness to darker moments, making the book highly readable even when the themes become intense.

The romance unfolds alongside political intrigue, and the balance between those two threads is handled beautifully. Power structures and tradition play a significant role in the story, and the narrative explores how those systems affect personal choice and autonomy. Some scenes lean darker and may feel intense for certain readers, but they serve the broader arc of the story.

The twists in the latter half genuinely surprised me, and the final stretch is emotionally satisfying and thematically consistent. By the end, the story feels complete in a way that honors both love and choice.

Not revolutionary within the genre, but a compelling and well-executed romantasy that delivers exactly what it promises. I absolutely devoured this book and loved every letter of it! Can't wait for the next book in this series!

Review of an advanced copy received from the author.

First of all, I am deeply honored that I was given the chance to read this book before its official release. From the moment I read the synopsis, I knew this story would be something special and I am so grateful I got to experience it early.

This book had me from the very first sentence. Completely. Utterly. Captivated. I devoured it in less than 10 hours because putting it down simply wasn’t an option. The writing pulled me under like a tide, and I willingly drowned in it.

Delilah was a compelling and fascinating main character, but let’s talk about the real fire of this story — Titus. Their dynamic? Explosive. Intense. Addictive. This is enemies-to-lovers done right. The tension, the hatred laced with desire, the slow burn simmering beneath every interaction, it was everything I crave in this trope. Titus was magnetic: dark, mysterious, possessive, and impossible not to love. Every scene with him felt charged.

The author’s writing style is undeniably beautiful, lyrical yet sharp, emotional yet powerful. There were so many striking thoughts and quotes woven into the story that made me pause and reread them. The atmosphere, the tension, the emotions, it all blended together in a way that felt immersive and consuming.

That being said, not everything felt perfectly seamless. The concept of the Law of Flesh was intriguing but at times confusing, and I struggled to fully grasp its purpose or logic. In the beginning especially, I found it difficult to understand where the romantic arc was heading, as Delilah seemed drawn to nearly everyone around her. At moments, her reactions to every new Fae (male or female) felt exaggerated, almost like an overly impulsive teenager overwhelmed by hormones rather than calculated desire.

The scene involving Aurelius, Cercies, and Titus also felt somewhat unnecessary, particularly considering what followed shortly after for Cercies. It made me question the narrative purpose of that moment.

And the ending… I’m still sitting with it. Processing it. I’m not entirely sure how I feel, and maybe that’s the point. But what I do know is this: if there is a sequel, I will be first in line. Because despite my questions, despite my confusion in certain moments, this story consumed me and I’m not ready to leave this world behind.

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily

❤️ World Building: The world building was creative. Especially the transition from the modern world to the Fae world. The political system is unique as well as how they can test magic in blood. The mythology and the rules and stores with in the book make the world come to life.

❤️ The Characters: Delilah was an amazing MFC, she is strong and not really in a physical way, more of the kind of strength it takes to keep getting back up when everything wants to knock you down. Titus is an arrogant High Lord. Aurelius, & Cercies are his 2nd & 3rd in command. All three are very different from each other, but they have been “brothers” since childhood.

❤️ The Story: The story was breathtaking! It was so emotional, which I honestly wasn’t expecting with such a high spice level! I spent so much time crying in this book, lol. But it was also moving and the character development was just phenomenal!

❤️‍🔥Overall: I mean what can I say, you really should read this book!

🐟 Fish skin for burns Facts Inspired by the book: Skin grafting was already practiced in the Egyptian Empire. This ancient skin graft technique was already taking place in 1500 BC and was documented in an old papyrus role called “Ebert papyrus”. According to the “Sushruta Samhita”, one of the early texts of Ayurveda, skin grafting was also performed by the ancient Hindu more than 3000 years ago. Members of the Koomas Caste used subcutaneous fat and skin from the gluteal region as free skin graft. (http://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/...)

This was definitely an ambitious debut with some really interesting ideas woven throughout the story. The writing itself flowed well for me, and there were moments that genuinely pulled me in, especially when the emotional tension and darker atmosphere really started to shine. I could absolutely see the potential in the world and the concepts the author was trying to explore.

That said, this one ended up being a bit uneven for me overall. At times the storyline felt scattered, and there were scenes that didn’t fully feel connected to the larger plot or character arcs. I also struggled to connect with several of the characters, which made it harder for me to stay emotionally invested in certain parts of the story.

Even with those issues, there were still moments that kept me curious and made me want to keep seeing where things were headed. For a debut, there’s definitely creativity here and I think readers who enjoy darker fantasy romance with chaotic relationships and emotionally messy characters may still find a lot to enjoy in this one.

This book will make you laugh, cry, and feel some steamy heat. Delilah is going with her husband to have an operation for her cancer which she has been battling for years. When she falls asleep on the operating table she wakes up in a Fae world. She comes to learn that there is a prophecy involving a human, if she can help fulfill it the Flame King will send her home.

So many twists in this book. The FMC is hilarious and will have have you cackling through the whole thing.

There are many dark elements to this story so be sure to check your trigger warnings.

A few notable mentions:
✨dark romance
✨portal magic
✨dragons
✨one “horse”

Thank you K. Rosé for the ARC, I really enjoyed reading it.

Oh wow.... This book destroyed me in the best way possible, I literally couldn't stop reading, I read this in less than 10 hours, so make sure your schedule is clear! It's almost like a fever dream version of Lord of the Rings meets Court of Ravens, with dragons! The first chapter DEFINITELY sets the stage for the last chapter, and the second chapter sets the stage for the rest of the book. I laughed, I kicked my feet with joy, and I definitely cried. Twice 😅. If I could only read one book for the rest of my life, this is one of the top contenders. Now, please excuse me as I immediately read it again! 1000/10 ⭐, if you enjoy a good fantasy story with some spice, I cannot recommend this book enough. This book is absolutely mind blowing, and I absolutely can't wait for the next one (in a year 😭)

I received an advance copy directly from the author and what an honor it has been!

Mortal Love by K. Rose is a stunning romantasy that completely took me on an emotional ride. I laughed, I cried, and I found myself fully invested in Delilah from the very beginning. She’s a FMC you can’t help but root for — strong, layered, and deeply human even in a fantastical world. And the MMC? I absolutely loved to hate him at first… until I couldn’t get enough of the two of them together. The tension, the push and pull, the slow shift in feelings — it was everything.

K. Rose masterfully blends romance and fantasy in a way that makes both feel equally powerful, and the emotional depth truly sets this story apart. As an ARC reader, I can honestly say this book stayed with me long after I turned the final page.

And I cannot wait for MORE!!!! 10 out of 10 highly recommend!!!

I do not know how to express or even comprehend my feelings after finishing this book. The ending crushed my soul, rebuilt it, and then left it hanging on a ledge. This is one of those books that truly feels like you are going on a journey. It starts in pain, sadness and a sense of hopelessness. Then takes you on a journey of awe and wonderment. Only to snatch that a way and replace it by frustration, loathing, and fear. Then you come back to elation, love, and acceptance. Just to have it snatched away again. This book covers ever single emotion you could possible go through. It almost feels like youre going through the stages of grief. With the fmc. But the ending, the ending brings this full circle while leaving you hanging on a cliff hoping there is another page you can turn to that will continue the story.

I'm giving absolutely nothing away. I will tell you that you will be sucked in and not want to put the book down. I will tell you that this story is dark, wonderous, and hauntingly beautiful. It is a story of fight, survival, and a sheer will to live. It's learning to love through devastation. Learning to heal after trauma. Facing a new world after a rebirth. And learning to say goodbye to a life you have outgrown.

The love story in this book is not one you've experienced before. It's not a why choose, it's not a true Enemies-to-lovers, and it's not gentle either. It's a story of souls finding a way back to each other in the next life after being ripped apart in their previous one. But they face battles, some of their own making and some, from outside influence.

K. Rosè built an amazing world centered around complex realms, a hierarchy of souls, plot twists for days, and an ending that left me speechless. I can't wait to see how she continues the story in book 2.

K. Rose writes Mortal Love: Realms of the After in a way that instantly pulled me in. The whole idea of Delilah waking up in a fae world after surgery felt both dreamy and unsettling. I found myself questioning everything along with her, which made the story feel very real and immersive.

What I personally connected with the most was her emotional struggle. She is caught between a new, intense connection and the life she left behind. It did not feel like a typical love triangle to me, it felt deeper, more complicated, and honestly a bit painful in a good way.

The world of Nevaehun is magical but also dark and layered. I liked that the writing kept things easy to follow while still building mystery. Delilah’s growing powers and the tension around her made me want to keep reading without feeling overwhelmed.

This book is definitely on the darker side, and some parts can feel heavy, so it is not for everyone. But for me, it felt emotional, bold, and different. It left me curious and slightly restless, which is exactly what I expect from the start of a series.

This book had me hooked from start and kept my interest throughout the whole thing — which is impressive as I get distracted quite easily. This fantasy has it all and made me feel it all. I love a book that can have me laughing and kicking my feet in one chapter and then jaw dropped in horror in another. Or sobbing, ya know either or depending on the day. This story is unique and will stay with me for quite some time. Welcome to the shelf of book that get to live in my brain rent free.

Elements I enjoy & that are present in this book in no particular order:

-Feral Fae Males
-Dragons
-Women with daggers
-Dragon friendships 🤍
-Sassy FMC who isn’t afraid to push back
-One “horse” trope
-Extensive trigger warning page listed at the beginning
-✨Emotional damage✨

I was lucky enough to receive an ARC from the author.

A story about first loves, true love, soul mates, fated mates and what happens when that love gets tested. Delilah is sick and goes into surgery as a last ditch effort to save her life, but wakes up in a fae realm. Confused and trying to figure out why she’s there, we follow her journey and adventures to see if she makes it back to the human realm. She left her human love only to find her fae mate. Turns out there’s a very special connection to this MMC. Romance, enemies to lovers, betrayal, dragons, looming war, power struggle and so much more!

Wow! What a story. Such an emotional rollercoaster in the best way possible. I laughed, I cried, I got angry. Honestly probably my favorite read of 2026 so far. A very interesting plot, twists and the ending truly left me speechless. At times I found myself second guessing the mates. Great world building and character relationships. Lots of spice, but there’s so much more to the book than that. I am very interested to see where this goes! 5 books planned for the series!!

The opening of this book is presented to the reader as the end of a loyal, steadfast, found a home in one another, love story which was sweet yet emotional but the surprise was how this was just the beginning.

The Outlander-vibes of the rest of the opening where our FMC, Delilah, is plopped in an unknown realm was a lot of fun to read and kept up with the vibes with that fast-paced, everyone else knew what was going on but Delilah didn't.

From there the story transitions fully out of Outlander vibes and into multiple elements of the romantasy genre.
-But boy did I appreciate the "one dragon" ride into the city ode to Outlander's "one horse"-

Yup. Dragons.

This story delivers a full scope of fantasy elements with separate Elemental Fae courts, High Lords of the Court plus the nobles, Generals and armies, lower class servants and slaves, and animosity amongst all the courts. The political tension is quickly set up and builds through the story.

Plus Dragons!!

The romantic subplot of this story was....a wild ride.
The introduction of why choose felt unnecessary to me with how abruptly the potential ended.
In reality this is a love triangle of the dangerous sort, full of temptation, unrequited feelings, resentment, and jealousy all of which were tied into the "primal" side of Fae so at times it felt it bit overdone.

Thats nothing to say of the major plot twist of this story that was very clever and a major factor of the romantic subplot.

The pacing was good overall, the only time I struggled with the pacing was towards the end of the book, a couple of sub plots for the political tension were told instead of shown and the MMC's mannerisms in speaking towards the end of the story had a drastic change from how he was written in the start of the book to where I felt confused.

The vibes and enjoyment of the story overall was good!! The ending delivered that brutal cliff hanger and after the confirmation I received in that ending I most certainly want to find out where this story goes.

This book completely captivated me from the very first page—I’m talking full-on couldn’t-put-it-down energy 😩📖
Delilah’s story hit hard. She starts off battling cancer, going into surgery… only to wake up in the Fae Realm 👀✨ The emotional whiplash alone had me hooked, and it just kept delivering from there.
Now let’s talk about Titus… because whew 😤 I did NOT like that man at first. At all. But somehow, K. Rose works her magic and slowly pulls you in. I did end up loving him, but not without constantly questioning if he was really the right choice for Delilah. And honestly? That tension made the story even better 🔥
The twists in this book?? INSANE. Just when you think you know who you’re rooting for… think again. Nothing is as straightforward as it seems, and I was living for every shocking turn.
One of my favorite parts was the concept of life and rebirth—the idea that dying in the human world leads to being reborn in the Fae Realm. It added such a unique and fascinating layer to the story 🌙🖤
And the writing? So smooth, so immersive—I absolutely devoured this book.
But that ending… 😭💔 I am STILL recovering. Just… wow.
Huge thank you to the author for taking me on such an emotional rollercoaster. This one is going to stick with me for a long time.

Delilah had me from the start because she feels like a real person thrown into absolute chaos 😭✨ she’s emotional, confused, making messy choices, and just trying to survive while everything around her is spiraling… and I loved that. But let’s be honest… TITUS??? That man is the problem and also the solution. Their dynamic is so chaotic and full of so much tension, like the kind of we probably shouldn’t be near each other but here we are energy that I truly ate up. He’s dark, intense, a little possessive, and every time he was on page I was locked IN.

I will say there were moments where I was like wait… what is happening 😅 the Law of Flesh concept was interesting but a little confusing at times, and the romance felt a bit all over the place in the beginning before it settled. Some scenes also felt a little random like I wasn’t fully sure what their purpose was.

For a debut though?? This was such a strong start. Like truly. I’m already excited to see how this world and these characters grow from here.

AND THAT ENDING??? I am still sitting here processing because what do you mean… like actually what do you mean. I don’t even know how I feel but I know I’m not okay and I know I will absolutely be back for the next book 🫶✨

I don’t think I’ve ever read a book quite like this—one that left me feeling both uplifted and quietly heartbroken at the same time. Is a happy broken heart a thing??

To say this book has everything would hardly be an exaggeration. It weaves together dragons, realms, powerful magic( fire, water, and beyond) …alongside themes of tragedy, trauma, betrayal, and deeply felt love. There are soulmates, fated bonds, fierce friendships, and nonstop action, all layered into a richly imagined world.

What truly sets it apart, though, is the author’s writing. It’s simply beautiful….immersive to the point where I forgot I was reading at all. The scenes felt vivid and alive, as though I could see, hear, and even smell everything unfolding around me.

I know I can’t fully do this book justice, but I can say without hesitation that it’s one of the best I’ve read. This author has natural talent and I am so excited to say she is now an autobuy for me!

Review as an ARC reader. I picked up Mortal Love thinking it would just be another quick read and yeah...I was not emotionally prepared. This book pulled me in so fast. The big twist with the main characters got me standing up out of bed. This book invoked feelings of grief, deep sadness, compassion and somehow made a situation that is impossibly hard bring on such a level of excitement for what's going to come next. I was able to paint such a vivid image of the realm this story takes place in. It felt new and exciting and dangerous. The character growth throughout the book just made sense, you learn about their backstory in a way that makes you understand their current decision making. The ending crushed my soul, rebuilt it, and then left it hanging on a ledge. This is one of those books that truly feels like you are going on a journey. Can’t wait to read the second book!

If you’re into fantasy with just the right amount of spice and emotional chaos, Mortal Love absolutely delivers. This book pulled me in fast. The fantasy elements feel rich without being overwhelming, and the romance? Tense, addictive, and so worth the slow burn. The chemistry between the characters builds in a way that keeps you hooked the entire time. The pacing was solid, the tension stayed high, and I never felt bored. It’s one of those books where you keep saying “just one more chapter” and suddenly it’s 2 AM. It gave me ACOTAR vibes and really pulled me in right away. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who likes the fantasy vibes. This was one of the best fantasy books I’ve read since ACOTAR.

I loved this story so much, it is beautiful written. I read this book is 2 days and lost a lot of sleep but i can say it was worth it.

This story made me cry, laugh so hard and fall in love. I cant wait for book 2 and enjoy this world further.

If you like romantasy with dragons, steam, love and many twists and turns this book is for you.

I loved how it was written, it was so easy to read and did not feel like a 500+ page book. It is a 18+ read because of the dark themes and the steamy scenes.
I loved the Spice and that it was just enough, it was not overshadowing the plot of the story.

My biggest 5 star reads in a long time so buy and read this... trust me.

Thank you for the ARC copy of this book. I enjoyed this tale of Delilah and Titus. It was a very easy read. Delilah's journey of healing and strengthening was inspiring. The fae realm was everything she needed after her disastrous life in the human world. The world building was well done and descriptive. Titus was a strong and driven MMC but the only thing I struggled with was the Danny reincarnation story line. I think Titus was doing fine without the need for that. The story flowed well. It was descriptive and warming and although it ended on a bit of an unknown. Is there going to be more to this story, I hope so.

If you enjoy having your emotions tugged in every direction then this is definitely a book for you.

FMC Delilah finds herself waking up in a new realm with Fae, and Dragons. A realm that is on the brink of war if Titus, Lord of Flame, can't awake the God Dragon.

Love, passion, revelations and betrayal are in abundance here and it is one hell of a ride.
If you love a dark and brooding MMC with hidden depths you are going to love Titus.

K.Rosé has smashed it with her debut fantasy.

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️
*Not something I typically note in reviews but definitely take note of the trigger warnings, this book was intense and may not be for everyone.
Tropes: Enemies to lovers, urban fantasy (fae/mortal world crossover), morally gray MMC, touch her and die, prophesy and fate, emotional scars, political intrigue

Memorable Quotes:
"I no longer saw her as flesh, but as a vessel of pure, indomitable will, a force of nature wrapped in mortal skin."
"Perhaps a female's power was never in brute strength, but in her capacity to love. Because love could make even the most powerful males kneel, burn, and become reckless, and the devotion they'd commit in its name was the deadliest power of all."
"I would set the world ablaze for you."
"Across dimensions and time, I would find her over and over again."

I am so grateful to the author, K. Rose for reaching out to me about this ARC availability. This is my honest opinion and review. I inhaled this book in two days because it was absolutely incredible from beginning to end, pulling you in and then emotionally devastating you in the most delightful way possible. The pacing throughout was spot on and the story flows effortlessly, maintaining engagement and interest with ease.

FMC Delilah is a married early thirties woman (which sold me initially as sometimes a break from the younger characters is refreshing), who finds herself plunged into the middle of a Fae kingdom after undergoing brain surgery in the mortal realm. It is unclear as to whether this is all a wild fever dream or something more, but as she comes to terms with her new surroundings and reality, we find just how rare and valuable she really is-the security of the kingdom rests heavily upon her shoulders and her ability to uphold a fated prophesy. Delilah's keen awareness of her mortality and fragility add to her strength and resilience, this girl has been through it and still manages to continue showing up with her head held high. Her wit and tenacity, devotion to her friend and husband, as well as her self-awareness and sass make her an extremely likable main character, even during more intense or dark portions of the book.

MMC Titus is a true fire daddy-a powerful and wildly arrogant High Lord who is intense, magnetic and possessive. His relationship with Delilah is initially transactional and one of convenience but it was a joy to see him soften and realize her worth, rather than viewing her as a means to an end. Their firey dynamic (pun intended) drove the story forward but the plot twist in the caves? AMAZING. The tension (both political and personal) and emotion woven throughout the story was beautifully written, and the complexity of the side characters' roles to the plot? Chef's kiss.

No spoilers here but I think my favorite part of the book was the reincarnation concept of moving from one world to the next, rather than a more traditional "wall" or "veil" that separates the moral and Fae worlds. While parts of the typical romantasy genre were pretty standard, like magic, fae, dragons, mate bonds, High Lords and elemental courts, the introduction of this idea and importance to the plot was definitely novel. This book was truly a roller coaster of emotions, I laughed, I gasped, I got angry, I cried, and I cannot WAIT for the rest of the series. Highly recommend!

I received this ARC from author K. Rose.

My Review:

I devoured this book. Every word. Every page. Until there was nothing left—and even then, it still wasn’t enough. Mortal Love didn’t just break my heart; it shattered it, rearranged the pieces, and left me hollow and desperate for more. When I say this is a must‑read, I mean clear your schedule, grab tissues, and prepare to fully surrender to K. Rose’s mind—because once you begin, there is no easy way out.

Without revealing any spoilers, here’s what you’re walking into:

• A fiercely relatable 32‑year‑old FMC
• Morally grey MMC
• A seamless collision between the real world and the Fae realm
• Dark, intense themes—read the trigger warnings
• Unhinged, unapologetic heat
• And yes… DRAGONS

The story follows Delilah, a woman with a loving husband who is preparing to undergo a dangerous surgery in the hope of extending her life. But when she wakes up, it’s not in a hospital bed. It’s in another world—one where pain no longer exists, where sickness has vanished, and where her body feels whole for the first time.

Delilah wakes in the Fae realm. And the Fae realm is not beautiful in a gentle way—it is beautiful like a blade. Ancient. Predatory. Alive. It is ruled by power, secrets, and bargains that always demand more than you’re willing to give. Magic seeps into everything, watching, waiting, binding souls to destinies they never agreed to. Nothing there is free. Nothing is given without consequence. The Fae do not save you—they claim you.

Mortal Love is haunting, feral, and unforgettable. It sinks its claws into your soul and refuses to loosen its grip, leaving you wrecked, aching, and desperate for more long after the final page.
This book doesn’t end—it lingers.

As a debut, Mortal Love is nothing short of astonishing. This is a declaration—swoon‑worthy, brutal, and unforgettable—marking K. Rose as an author ready to dethrone the genre’s reigning queens. She builds a hauntingly beautiful universe of interconnected realms, all bound together by one devastating truth: the soul is everything.
