Weston Ashford was determined to have it all. After a tumultuous upbringing, he'd found a family of his own and his surfing. As a World Junior Champion, his future was finally bright, until his past came for him, and one mistake had him sinking straight toward rock bottom.

Years later, he's fresh-out-the-slammer and stripped of his medal. When one last chance to follow his dream of becoming a professional surfer presents itself, he takes it with both hands—no distractions, no weakness. That is, until he crosses paths with his coach's daughter.

Willow Graham isn't supposed to be here. She had plans, and they didn't include an abrupt move back to her hometown. Her entire life unraveled after a traumatic experience she's still struggling to come to terms with.

Both hellbent on rebuilding their futures and rediscovering who they are, Willow and Weston initially find themselves at odds when their shared spaces cause tension, but as their forced proximity gives way to mutual understanding, they discover a connection deeper than they ever thought possible.

Will their unexpected bond prove strong enough to overcome the tides between them, or will they end in tatters?

About the author

Sarah A. Bailey

12 books930 followers
Sarah fell in love with reading as a child, starting with the Magic Treehouse Series. She quickly learned that books can take her to all the places she always dreamed of going, and allow her to live endless lifetimes in the one that we are given.
Sarah believes that a good, fluffy romance novel can make even the darkest days a little bit brighter. She believes in love stories readers can root for, the kind that will make even the skeptics believe in all that cheesy stuff like soulmates. She longs to produce stories that readers can pick up, and regardless of what’s weighing them down in life, feel a little lighter when they finish.
Sarah was born in California and raised in Southern Oregon, and still considers herself a Pacific Northwest gal at heart; right down to being a coffee snob, collecting hydro flasks, adamantly believing in Sasquatch, and feeling like rain-drenched forests are a form of therapy. Sarah now resides in North Carolina with her husband, Mike, and their dog-baby, Rue. When she’s not writing, she’s likely reading, and if she’s not reading, odds are she’s out searching for a decent cup of coffee, or a rainy pine forest.

SPICE: 🌶️🌶️.5

Westin and Willow. Man these two are soulmates that needed to find each other.

This book hooked me from the very beginning and I absolutely enjoyed how it balanced sensitive topics with two people feeling the joy of falling completely in love with each other without any hesitation.

✨ Coastal Small Town
✨ Surfer Romance
✨ Coach’s Daughter
✨ Hurt/ Comfort
✨ inexperienced MMC

I’m going to say one thing…. Sarah Bailey writes a truly quotable book and I found myself swooning at so many of the lines in this one.

I loved the dynamic between Westin and Willow and the way that Sarah’s worlds collided for this second generation. The book was heavy at times but that was needed to give us the full depth of what falling in love meant to both Weston and Willow.

And their dynamic is what made this so enjoyable. Plus I will always, always eat up a virgin MMC, especially when he’s such an eager to learn cinnamon roll.

Weston was so down bad and I absolutely loved him for it. As Willow says, he was a man written by a woman. I loved him.

I also did this one as an immersive read, and the audio really was done well as brought even more depth and emotion to both of these characters.

This one should definitely be on your TBR

* I received this book as an arc from the author and publisher and all thoughts are my own.

This was a beautiful story and an even more stunning cover!

I did struggle a bit with the chemistry between the main characters; it felt a little too insta-love for my taste. I kept thinking they might have worked better as friends.

Overall, though, it’s an emotional story that wraps up nicely and leaves you with a satisfying conclusion.

2 beautiful souls, healing from their traumas, & a man who WHIMPERS?
I absolutely adored Willow & Weston’s story 🥹

thank you Page & Vine, Sarah A. Bailey & Tantor Audio for the ARC & ALC, all opinions are my own.

my heart was broken for both Willow & Weston 💔
Willlow’s present struggles, & Weston’s past were both heavy, yet they were both able to find peace and joy as they found their safe space with one another, first in friendship, then more 🥹

I loved seeing Leo (his protectiveness of both of them!) & Darby, and so many Pacific Shores characters back again.

While this is a next gen series, you don’t have to read Pacific Shores to fall in love with this one!
I’ve only read the first two, and I know we see characters from Sarah’s previous series as well - I didn’t feel like I was missing anything, but I do want to go back and read the stories I haven’t read yet 🥰

🎧 loved the audio too, dual narrated by Rachel Leblanc & Connor Brown.

This book was everything I knew it was going to be, emotional in the best and most devastating way.

I truly adored Weston. After everything he’d been through, the way he showed up for Willow and became her safe place just completely melted me. Willow’s trauma was honestly heartbreaking, and watching her navigate that alongside someone who understood pain on such a deep level made their connection feel even more powerful. They weren’t perfect, but they were exactly what each other needed, two people learning how to heal while also becoming a safe haven for one another.

And what can I say about Pacific Shores? That setting gets me every single time. It’s one of those places that feels like a warm hug, even when the story is putting your heart through it.

Emotional, tender, and healing, this one definitely delivered.

This was such a great book and the narration was done so well! It really brought the emotions of this book and made you feel so much!!

This was a beautiful, yet at times heartbreaking story about overcoming trauma and past troubles & finding a way to start again. Weston was such an amazing MMC and while dealing with his own demons he continues to show up for Willow and became a safe place to land.

This book covered some heavy topics, but it was done so well! I felt so deeply for Willow & the things she had to overcome, but the chemistry and relationship between these two just puts you back together and gives the most beautiful story!

Such a great book with lovable characters, found family, and the most beautiful healing journey that made this one I would highly recommend!

Thank you Sarah A Bailey & NetGalley for this early copy!

This book is honestly a bit insulting for any woman who has been sexually assaulted. It felt like a woke agenda was being pushed with the consent trope. Also didn’t appreciate the abortion dialogue either.

Really disappointed with Sarah A Bailey…

I have loved EVERYTHING I have read by Sarah. This was no different. Though it wasn't a full 5 stars, it was a very solid 4.5 stars for me. Weston and Willow were perfection. The pacing of their friendship turned more. The trauma and heaviness of the past that they both carried but weren't yet ready to open up about until each other. The instant connection that they had and both tried to deny (sort of). The tenderness they showed each other. They met at the absolute worst and perfect time. Willow was dealing with a serious betrayal and trauma from her now ex boyfriend. While Wes had just been released from prison where he had been for 2 years of his life. I loved watching Weston grow into the man that he is at the end of this book. He had never been in a relationship. Never really been interested. And since he went to jail at only 17, he never really had the chance. Willow wasn't sure about opening herself up again, but with Wes everything felt different. More natural. She felt a spark with him that she hadn't felt in a while. This man WORSHIPPED the ground she walked on. He was SOOO down bad SO early, and I was 10000% here for it. I loved watching them lower their walls and trust each other to handle their deepest darkest parts. I also VERY much loved that Willow got to open Weston's eyes up to all things spice- that was SOO hot Sarah!! Ultimately though, these two were soulmates. Endgame. They just happened to go through some hard stuff to be ready to find each other.

Willow had plans. She was going to get her degree at Berkley and marry the man she loved. And then everything went down in flames. Parker, her boyfriend, wasn't who she thought he was. He betrayed her in the worst way and then basically gaslighted her about it. Which is how she has found herself home for the summer scrambling to figure out what to do with her life. And then she meets Weston. Her dad's trainee for the summer. He seems like she annoys him for some reason. Willow can't really get a read on him, but they can't stop running into each other due to where he is living (her backyard). And the more she is around him the more she realizes he is misunderstood. He is a little socially awkward but he opens up around her. He makes her want things again. So she does what she can to pull him out of his shell. She includes him in things. Invites him to parties. Hangs around him and to confirm that he feels this thing between them to she kinda dangles a little. And his reaction is everything she wanted. Willow realizes this thing building between them is anything but a fling or a hookup. It is MORE. So they decide to take their time with everything. She opens up more to him than with anyone. He makes her want to be free of her demons. He makes her realize how much she didn't experience with her previous relationship. He treats her like a queen. And what they have is soul deep. But she still hasn't told him everything. She is still scared of what it will mean. But then her past comes back before she can react, and Weston being Weston loves her MORE if that is even possible. So yeah Weston is her man. He is her heart and her soul. Period.

Weston doesn't really have any high expectations from this summer. He can't believe he is going to get to train with THE Leo Graham. But his foster dad was kind of tight lipped on what all that would mean. Weston knows he has to give his all to be able to get a semblance of what he had before he went to prison 2 years ago. Which is why when he meets Leo's daughter, Willow, for the first time, he does everything he can to avoid her. He can't have distractions. Leo has made it clear. Weston knows it, but there is something about her that draws him in like a moth to a flame. Maybe it's the sadness that seems to radiating off of her but is slowly going away. Maybe it's the way she smiles at him and makes his heart beat faster than it ever has. Maybe it's how she accepts him for him without asking about his past and his reasons for what happened. Whatever it is Weston realizes he is truly screwed because he is all in with this girl. He just has to be patient. And slowly but surely their relationship evolves from friends to a hint of more to SO much more. And Weston realizes he has never experienced this stuff because he was waiting for her without even realizing it. She is everything. She makes him feel safe. She makes him want to open up about his past and his decisions and regrets. And though he knows she hasn't opened fully up, he knows nothing she has done will ever change how he feels about her. Because she has owned him since he first saw her.

This was a wonderful intro to the next gen series. I loved being back in Pacific Shores! I loved getting glimpses of all of my fav characters from the OG series as parents/aunts & uncles. I loved meeting all of the siblings and trying to piece who they will all end up with. But most of all I LOVED Weston and Willow. Weston is SUCH a good man. He was just blowing me away with his patience and kindness and just goodness. Watching him unravel at Willow's fingertips was HOT and so satisfying. I highly recommend this book and Pacific Shores as the a whole if you haven't read it. I did listen to the audio on this one and thought that the narrators did a great job! I am getting August and Elena vibes for Asher and Ali- looking forward to them finally realizing they are meant to be in book 2 :)

I’ve been waiting for this spinoff series for so long and I’m pretty disappointed to be honest. I’ve never read a book where the main focal point was the author pushing their political agenda at their readers. I absolutely adored the Pacific Shores series and was so excited to get Willow and Weston’s book but this was just a letdown. Can we just normalize the fact that people can have their views on what they believe without shoving it in other peoples faces?

What also didn’t sit right with me was the comparison the book made regarding sexual assault. It honestly felt disrespectful to women who have actually experienced that trauma in real life. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions and perspectives on sensitive topics, but the way this was portrayed just did not feel appropriate to me at all.

Wow! Thank you NetGalley for the ALC. This was my first Book by Sara and it will not be my last.

This book hooks you from page one. You meet Willow who just had something traumatic happen to her, and decides she needs to go home. While she is healing and her parents helping her. She meets Weston, a suffer boy with a trouble past. Willows dad has offered to get him on the right track.

This story is messy, forbidden, and so so good.

The audiobook is done so well.

I’ve never been so disappointed in a book…I usually LOVE Sarah A. Bailey’s books, but this one was absolutely awful to get through. I kept thinking it would get better and be less “woke” that didn’t happen. The amount of “consent” in this book is so annoying and ridiculous.
At one point someone HUGS her without her consent and she freaks out and everyone is so upset. IT WAS JUST A HUG!!!! He didn’t grab her vagina! I had high hopes for this book and had been waiting for it to come out for a while and it really missed the mark. I just want more Leo and Darby, not whatever bullshit this is!!!

I loved Heathen and Honeysuckle so much so I was pleasantly surprised when I realized this was a second generation book. This follows Leo and Darbys daughter, Willow, who is back in town after having a traumatic experience. Needing the comfort of home and family she decides she is gonna take a semester off from school to help her get her mental health in check. Then we have Weston who is also trying to get his life back in control. He is fresh out of prison and not sure what to do in life. Before his sentence he was on track to become one of the best surfers in the world. So he now has an opportunity to train with Leo and get his dreams back. But this puts him in the path of Willow. This might just be the thing they both need.

I was honestly a little emo to visit the characters of Pacific Shores again for the start of this second gen series. It brought back all the love I have for that series, instantly craving a reread.
I would love to spend a day on the boardwalk.

Sarah knows how to write an addicting romance with lots of drama! 👏🏼
I’m so eager for the next book in September!

3/5 star for narration. Unfortunately the male narrator just did not fit Weston’s character for me after having eyeball read the book and seeing character art for him. The voice was so deep and much older than Weston. I also could not find a comfortable speed to fit both narrators.

Thank you NetGalley for this advanced readers copy; I’m so happy to be back in Pacific Shores.
I absolutely LOVED this book. Weston & Willow gave me daddy Leo and Darby vibes, but on their own too. Loved seeing the gang again with some new faces. Weston was pure perfection. I experienced all the emotions- cried, laughed, giddy giggles, swooned, raged. I really enjoyed that Weston was a bad boy but with a good heart, and eyes for only Willow, without the attitude to hurt her. The hook at the beginning of this book was captivating, and had me turning the page. I felt like the overuse of the nickname, “love” & “sugar” wore me out a bit but even so, I was sad once the book ended. I appreciated seeing Leo as a side character in this book, a few interactions had me laughing because I can totally picture the conversation exactly as written. Thank you for the opportunity to read Tattered Tides- releases May 5th.. I’m so excited for book 2 in the Celestia Cove series.

Just finished reading an advanced copy of a book that was just released on May 12th called, Tattered Tides. This is about Willow, she is home from college after a traumatic experience led to her suddenly dropping out. She doesn't know what to do with her life anymore and she's trying to heal from what happened to her when she meets Weston. He is a surfer hoping to go pro and being trained by her father and living in their guesthouse. They are both very guarded, they both have trauma, and they are both trying to get their lives and dreams back on track. They don't hit it off and the tension is high between them, but as they are around each other they begin to open up and before they know it they realize they've finally found someone they feel safe with.
I was not expecting the emotional rollercoaster that was this book, this was my first book by this author and I will be reading more as soon as possible! This had some heavy topics (check trigger warnings) but there was so much beautiful healing, support, friendship, understanding, and love in this book! I loved that Willow and Weston found safety in each other, first as friends then it grew into more, the slow burn was done so well. Their relationship didn't feel rushed and their connection felt genuine. The way they supported and showed up for each other had me in my feels, it was so sweet! They both felt unworthy, but they made each other feel safe, seen, and loved. Their story was beautiful! I absolutely loved the narrators for this, they both did so incredibly well bringing all these characters to life! And I loved Celestia Cove! The beach and boardwalk, it all came to life in my mind so vividly and I didn't want to leave! 🩵📚

Thank you to the author, Page & Vine, and Netgalley for this physical ARC, ALC, and eARC of Tattered Tides, in exchange for an honest review.

I laughed, I cried, I swooned, I was in absolute awe of Sarah’s writing yet again.

Willow is back home in Pacific Shores and grappling with something traumatic that happened. Weston just got out of jail and is staying in her family’s guest house to train with her pro surfer dad, Leo.

There is an immediate spark and connection between Willow and Weston. I loved watching them slowly open up to each other, slowly processing their own individual trauma.

These two were so emotionally mature, taking their time to process things and not rushing each other.

My heart broke for both of them, but especially Weston. He was so hard on himself and afraid he was just like his dad. When he couldn’t have been farther from it. I loved how he remembered and spoke about his mom. I’m so glad he had loving foster parents. It’s so refreshing to see such emotionally mature, supportive, and loving parents as Weston’s foster parents and Darby and Leo.

Willow was so strong. I respected her so much for making the decision that was right for her. Her whole situation tugged on my heartstrings. I better not see one single negative thing about her or her journey!

And my god. The dad/daughter dynamic between Leo and Willow is going to make me cry AGAIN. Leo is such a good dad. I loved seeing our Pacific Shores babies all grown up raising kids of their own and running their businesses. 😭

I wish Pacific Shores was a real place because it sounds idyllic. I could go on and on about how much I loved this book. I can’t wait to see what’s next in this series!

Pacific Shores, to me, is a perfect six star series. So naturally, I had high expectations going into Tattered Tides. They were not only met, but exceeded.

Coming back to this world was just what I needed and more. Sarah blends emotion and spice so perfectly.

This was my first time reading a second gen book and I am obsessed. Leo Graham as a dad are you kidding me?? And all the other familiar faces too. I squealed in excitement every single time.

I don't know genuinely how I'm supposed to go on waiting for book two.

I loved Willow and Weston from the get go. The way they found safety and solace in each other after their respective past traumas and trying to navigate every day life was everything to me. Watching them fall in love was pure beauty. And their chemistry was off the charts. I felt it in every part of my heart and soul. These two will stick with me forever, I guarantee it.

If you're a fan of Sarah's books already, then there is not one doubt in my mind you will love this one too.

Read content warnings as they are major themes throughout the entire book.

omg… this one had me in a chokehold 🌊✨

If you love messy emotions, dangerous tension, and that “I shouldn’t want you but I absolutely do” vibe… yeah, this delivers. the characters?? Flawed in the best way. I was constantly like “babes… what are you doing” but also fully rooting for them.

Willow has just gone through some the traumatic, comes home to heal and in walks a surfer boy working with her dad who has a not so good rap….. her father warns him to stay away from her….. yeah right

The romance builds with just enough angst to hurt a little (in a good way), and the stakes kept me locked in the whole time. Definitely one of those books where you tell yourself “one more chapter” and suddenly it’s 2a

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with this ALC. 💕

I was anticipating reading this book, but it just didn’t work for me. There were some moments here and there that I enjoyed, but overall this book was just not what I expected.

It was a bit too long, underdeveloped, and I wasn’t that invested. I was anticipating this book to be over. One of my biggest issues was the romance. It leaned heavily into insta-love, and it was difficult for me to fully connect with Wes and Willow. I wanted more buildup between them, and more emotional depth.

I did really like Wes as a character, and I found his story more compelling. I just wish we had gotten deeper character growth for both him and Willow. Considering everything they had gone through, I especially would have liked to see them healing with therapy, instead of everything being wrapped up too neatly.

There were scenes that felt unnecessary. One chapter in particular focused entirely on spice. I would have preferred more emotional connection over physical scenes.

As for the audiobook, it was a mixed experience for me. The narrator for Wes sounded much older than I imagined for the character, which made it hard to connect to the story. Willow’s narrator had a good narration overall, but I didn’t enjoy how she voiced other characters. This book should have been a duet narration rather than dual narration.

Overall, this wasn’t a terrible book. If you enjoy small-town/coastal town romance and healing through love, and you may enjoy this book more than I did, so don’t be discouraged. this may still be worth picking up.

two broken souls trying to rebuild their lives, drawn together in the most raw, tender way. Their connection felt so real—not rushed, not perfect, just two people learning how to trust and love again.

Daddy Leo 🧎‍♀️ SIRRRR. This is why I love second gen romances honestly. What's better than seeing some of your favorite characters grow up, raise a family, become parents and still be so in love and get to still read about it.

the vibes:
🌊 small town romance
🏄‍♂️ surfer MMC with a past
💔 hurt/comfort
✨ “good girl x bad boy” energy
🫶 healing through love

weston ashford owns my entire heart. the way he loves? the way he shows up?? i’m not okay 😭 and willow’s strength and resilience made me love her even more. they don’t fix each other—they understand each other, and that’s what made this story hit so hard.

Sarah's writing is straight-up poetry. Every line feels intentional, emotional, and immersive. This is the kind of book that lingers long after the last page.

If you love emotional romances that feel like a quiet storm building in your chest… read this.

✨ “you’re safe with me” energy forever ✨️

Content-wise, I really wish the trigger warning had been clearer. The FMC’s sexual assault, pregnancy, and abortion aren’t just mentioned—they’re essentially the entire plot. I’m not someone who’s easily triggered, but I can absolutely see how this could be distressing for readers who’ve experienced similar trauma without knowing how central it would be.

As for the romance, it was sweet… but not always believable. The MMC speaks in very flowery, poetic language constantly. While it sounds romantic on paper, it didn’t feel realistic to me. I did like them together, though.

Chapter 30 being almost entirely a montage of them having sex in multiple locations was… a lot 😂 I don’t mind spice, but that felt excessive and unnecessary.

The final confrontation was predictable and lacked impact. Overall, not a bad read, but not a standout either.

review of advanced reader copy and advanced listener copy received by NetGalley

Fav quote: ALL OF THEM BECAUSE SARAH IS A MASTER “Like my breath was your source of oxygen and my touch was bringing you to life.”

Tropes: second gen • small coastal town • coach’s daughter • bad boy x good girl • trauma • virgin MMC • surfer mcs • forced prox

Look, I don’t even like lemon bars, but now I want them because THATS how engaging Sarah’s writing is. I literally wouldn’t change a single punctuation mark! I don’t even understand how someone could write so intentionally, so beautifully, tragically, and so healing. One can easily feel so scene by Sarah’s characters! This story in particular had parts that deeeeply resonated with me and I just wanted to hold our FMC Willow and promise her everything will get a little easier!

Finding someone who will carry your baggage with you! 😭😭😭😭 willow and Weston couldn’t come from more opposite sides of the tracks if they tried and they both end up with traumas so deep and scarring that they help the other through. But they also give space for individual growth and it’s tragically beautiful.

Alright, obviously a huge win for this book is the community. PLEASEEEEEEE read Sarah’s backlist first. There are SO MANY loved characters in this book and it’ll make so much more sense and hit so much harder if you know all the characters from their own stories!

The way that Sarah writes the inter conflict that Willow is waging within herself is so valid and accurate and heartbreaking. I can’t even believe we could empathize with Willow so deeply!

This book takes breaking, real-life issues and writes them so in such an impactful and tactful manner! It’s careful bur so biting!

And this book is so bingeable! I can never binge books, but I could, this would be one! So I’ll say for those who can’t binge, this is soooo so easy to pick back up and remember right where you left off! It’s so insanely addictive and the writing is unmatched!

The audiobook is PERFECTION! The narrator choices were spot on and fit the characters perfectly! It was so easy to listen to and so enjoyable! Willow’s narrator might be a new favorite narrator for me!

Do I recommend it? Absolutely!

Thank you so much Sarah Bailey, NetGalley, and Page and Vine for this advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.

I’m going to be totally honest I requested to read an ARC of this book solely because Sarah Bailey was my favorite breakout author I read in 2025. So I had no earthly clue that Tattered Tides would be following the next generation from the Honeysuckle series. As soon as I realized I swear I gobbled this up so fast.

I seriously didn’t think Sarah could top Vice & Violet. But she literally said hold my drink. Tattered Tides is a beautiful and heart wrenching story. The story follows our main characters as they overcome their trauma and their pasts. Both Weston & Willow were in such dark parts of their lives at the beginning of the story. But through this beautiful book we got to watch them become phoenixes rising from the ashes.

Watching Weston & Willow go on this journey of finding them and healing is something I think every reader so discover. But I will say please check trigger warnings especially for SA and assault.

Lastly, i have to mention the found family component of this book is phenomenal. We got to see our favorites from the first series, plus new faces that I’m sure will hopefully get their own books. But I loved every single character and they all added so much depth and support to our lead characters.

Overall, I cannot recommend this book enough and I 100% will be picking this up on release for a trophy copy. Lastly big Thank you Sarah A Bailey & NetGalley for this early copy!
