For three years, Carter Stewart was the perfect boyfriend and fiancé…until a few weeks ago. Late nights, cancelled dates, and strange phone calls began to overshadow our wonderful, happy life together. I let it slide at first—my vision clouded by trust for this man. That is until one message, one lie, and finally, one confession brought everything I thought I knew crashing down around me.
While I’m picking up the pieces of my shattered life, Carter starts popping up all over the place, acting like the man I always thought I knew. I desperately try to hold onto the logic of leaving him, but soon, I learn that everything is not as it seems.
Carter
One random, stormy afternoon, a gorgeous woman and her dog came stumbling into my perfectly ordinary life and made it into something extraordinary. Now all I want is to do more—to be better for Becky Duchamp. Only, in my jumbled attempts to make those improvements, I made stupid choices that hurt her. I wish I could take it all back, but I can’t.
Now I have to live with the consequences and let her go…or I can do everything in my power to win her back. Personally, I’ve never been a fan of consequences.
An extra angsty, sometimes humorous, small town romance about two imperfect people who might just be perfect for each other.
If you wanna swoon over an almost 30 year old clueless mechanic who gets worked over by a barely legal, spoiled hyena everyone else sees coming, but he never does, this is the one for you. Oh and watch the author twist sexual assault into a convenient plot point. 🙄 Full spoilers ahead.
Ok so Carter (H) and Becky (h) meet after her dog wants to go on a walk during a rainstorm. It’s love at first. They start dating, flash forward a few years and they’re engaged, exciting about starting their lives together. Only wait something isn’t right, Carter is working late all the time and he barely has any time for his fiancée anymore.
See one thing you need to know about Carter is he used to be really tall, gangly and awkward. Could never say no and used to get walked all over by everyone. Now he’s filled out and he’s really handsome. And he’s not like those other predatory mechanics ok, he’s always standing up for women. Now he’s a social butterfly but he still can’t say no.
So Becky is starting to get restless. Her last relationship ended badly, he was a drunk and cheat, and she never knew which man she would get. She had to end the relationship and run away to their current, cute little small town. Carter keeps ducking out of there, but she trusts him because he would NEVER, cheat on her. She stops cooking since she’s not like other girls and hates it. Carter lives off fast food because he’s working and always late and having to give this mysterious client a ride.
Anyways, they’re meant to go on a date to dinner and a music festival. Only Carter gets a call from Taylor and she needs a ride. So this is the client he’s been carting all over town. She needs a ride from her doctors appointment. Obviously no one else can do it, so he dumps Becky at home telling her he’ll pick her up in a bit and take her to the show. Except it ends up taking way too long— you know the usual traffic and OW needs her meds and tacos apparently (don’t worry they grabbed Becky a few tacos too). Ok so this was the moment to blow up imo. It’s obvious he’s been ducking out all summer giving this hoe rides. This is a woman she didn’t even KNOW about yet meet. But no Becky is all Carter taught me what a healthy relationship looks like, says nothing, goes on their little date and then lets her man do her when they’re back. And this is somehow so assuring to her she says nothing else. Like ok if it’s so healthy, just ask him?
Naturally she’s starting to get anxious because she hasn’t talked to him, assuming him doing her is some sort of healthy indicator of their relationship but stats to go stir crazy anyways . Because he’s back to the old antics but worse, since he’s glued to his phone even more now. So she decides to get him his favorite take out and surprise him. He barely looks at her and just goes to shower, saying he already ate… NOW she’s suspicious enough to check his phone and sees a message from Tay ;) (formerly Taylor if you remember) thanking him for the ride, asking if he liked dinner, and letting him know what she’s making them for their next dinner. Yeah that’s hella sus, I’d definitely be asking for explanations about this one no matter how trustworthy the man is. Does she? No she goes to read on the couch before getting drunk. Decides to drunkenly confront him first thing in the morning demanding to see his texts with Taylor, only the paragon of complete trust, Carter deleted the last suspicious message. Claims this looks worse than it is. LMFAOO she says NOTHING again. At this point I know I must be reading comedy.
So everything actually blows up when Becky gets called in to work some summer festival thing. Carter obviously isn’t picking up. She’s pissed he’s been MIA the whole summer and school is starting up again. Here, she gets to meet Tay in the flesh and she clearly already knows who Becky is. Scantily clad ass-cheeks peeking through her booty shorts ginger, is sneering at her. And guess who she showed up with? None other than Carter, who’s touching booty shorts Tay and also letting her touch him the whole time. By the way the entirety of this small town is at this even witnessing this garbage in real time. Becky does her usual and says nothing. Later Carter comes home looking super guilty and goes to bed. Then the confrontation ensues in the morning where Taylor demands answers. Carter claims something happened but it means nothing and he doesn’t want her. Tries to give her the run around. But the gist of is that she’s a client getting her car fixed, a rental wasn’t available so she needed rides from the guys at work. She only calls him because shes creeped out by the other guy. Becky is like oh is this a full service escort service lmfao. Carter insists they’re not together and he never slept with her. But the day of this festival thing, she did kiss him suddenly when he dropped her off at home and he pushed her away. Which explains his sudden guilt. Becky finally does something sensible and kicks his ass out. Tells him to go wherever, he certainly knows where her house is and looks like he’s welcome there.
Becky calls up her sister and gets drunk for the remainder of summer vacation lol. Carter shows up once and she closes the door on his face. School starts up and guess who her new TA is? Well none other than booty shorts Tay. Veronica (principal) asks her if she wants to reassign her to another class, but no. You see where Carter is a paragon of trust, Becky is a paragon of integrity. She’d never do something so crude and unprofessional. Not to mention booty shorts Tay didn’t know her and didn’t owe her any loyalty, so she stays. I’m sorry but this is like the stupidest mentality that I see being pushed on women. I absolutely agree that the guy should get the majority of heat for cheating in relationships but that doesn’t absolve the other women of ALL culpability. Like be so for real and use our brains here for a second. As a human being you DO OWE every person some decency and respect. Knowingly chasing after a man with a fiancée is heinous, and doesn’t absolve you of any wrongdoing because HE reciprocated. And we get a fraction of a chapter in Tay’s POV to confirm she knew he had a fiancée and decided to make him hers for entertainment.
Not to mention Becky decided to remain professional while essentially giving her students a front row seat to this drama. Seeing as Tay from DAY 1, has chocolates and flowers sent to her from “Carter” and openly leaves them on display in Becky’s class room lol. She sneaks in derogatory comments about Becky and her body in front of the students, essentially refuses to do work, and remains disruptive to the point, the students have to put her in her place. Tay is only here because her rich daddy said he won’t give her a job in his company until she “proves” herself. So she had to move to this podunk town and work as a TA (her aunt Jill is also a rude teacher at this school). Moreover, Tay is running her mouth to anyone who will listen that Becky is being vindictive cause she’s a jealous ex. Obviously Becky can’t do anything but document and compile these incidents because she has so much integrity! She starts building herself a good group of friends including other teachers and Trevors wife, Paige (Carters buddy, they’re gonna be a whole story too).
Now Carter remains clueless, he’s in denial it’s over. He’s trying to win his woman back slowly. Sneak into their home and fix up stuff, clean up dog pop in the front yard, and check on her car. He’s staying at his parents house while they’re away on vacation. One of these instances, he gets caught by Becky, who tells him to come in so they can chat. She wants the whole truth, but he’s panicking because he didn’t want to lose her (like buddy you’ve been kicked out and your side piece is telling the whole town you left your fiancée for her).
So he admits that he wants more for them and looked into getting a business loan so he can buy the creepy partner (Paul) out from the auto shop, only he was rejected. He decided to start working harder so they’d have more money and he sat up enough for the buy out. Tay shows up constantly having car problems. He gives her rides because he’s baying paid by his job. They start talking, she opens up first, then he starts opening up too and telling her about his worries. You know the things he should have been telling his fiancée, because she didn’t even know he wanted to buy into the business. His manager gets annoyed and says they won’t be paid anymore for these excursions. So Tay offers to pay him for the rides, even offering double then triple. See this is where I started to scratch my head. She’s this rich, but has constant car problems, why not just buy a new car? She claims to know no one else in town. He noticed she started touching him but he always stopped it lol. Then comes the day of the festival. She tells him she’s going to meet a friend and needs a ride. Then refuses to get out of his car unless he accompanies her because she doesn’t wanna be alone surrounded by strangers. Girl that’s what going out in public is. Anyways after this when he dropped her off, he tried to open her door and she kissed him. He stopped it. Claims nothing else happened before this 🙄. She goes through his phone and sees that he still contacted her and tells him to leave. Says she’ll get in touch about splitting things up.
So life goes on. She goes out and gets drunk with her new gal pals, they all hate Tay. Carter is watching like a creep at the bar because this is the only way he can get a glimpse of her. Drunk Becky is driven home by Paige who has her own man problems. One thing about these grovel novels, no matter how accomplished these MMCs are, they’ll always be clueless in their relationship until some well meaning old lady jumps in and goes wtf are you doing? This is Becky’s co-worker Vicky. Despite their MONTHS of conversation while he played uber over the summer, Carter is unaware that Tay is Becky’s new TA. LMFAO and that she’s been insisting on parading their relationship around everyone at work by sending herself flowers and chocolates in his name. He decides he’s gonna “fix this”. Some drunk texts from Becky come in. Tay shows up in a fresh pair of booty shorts and starts touching Carter again. Her tells her to stop and she keeps making suggestive comments. He runs away.
So Becky stays getting gifts from her man at work. He tells the flower shop to refuse Tay’s orders and they listen apparently. Naturally this pisses bunny boiler off so she texts Becky a picture from the bar of her and Carter that looks very suggestive. Becky forwards it to Carter and he comes running to their house to set things straight. He tells her it wasn’t like that and they’re not together. Then shockingly tells her he’s gonna tell her the WHOLE truth. Lmfao. So this unsubtle hyena, who is completely tactless at work, is somehow a manipulative genius or so Carter claims. Because he claims at the festival, she kept finding excuses to touch him and reason for HIM to touch her. 🙄 yeah ok come on now. He was only doing this because she offered money and he was trying to save up so he could buy into the mechanic business and improve their lives. Apparently he was just deleting “irrelevant” messages.
When he went to drop her off, she climbed over him, started grinding on him, and he gets hard. She smiles and kisses him. She’s about to go for his pants and then he pushes her off, makes her leave and drives off. He claims to not even be sure if he kissed her back. He only contacted her after to get the money she owed him. The author basically tells us he was assaulted. Tbh this is another new trend among these grovel wattpad authors and I just find it insulting to women overall. Men absolutely can be assaulted and raped too, it’s traumatizing because they aren’t taken seriously. But for real, you want us to believe that a 6’2 200 pound man, was fully helpless when this ginger anorexic blonde crawled into his lap and started grinding?
Even more insulting Becky immediately starts crying, making excuses, and reminds him “friction turns him on”. She also instantly forgives him. As if he wasn’t emotionally cheating on her all summer, ditching his fiancée for this OW, and giving OW every reason to think she was welcome to crawl into his lap after their date at the festival with the entire town and his fiancée as witness. This was a 3 star read until this point but they was this “assault” was conveniently thrown in here and poorly done to get readers to forgive Carter made me shave off a whole star. It’s just gross and insulting to women in similar situations who are physically overwhelmed by men. Not to mention I wanna see one of these wattpad grovel authors write a story about a woman assaulted and her partner needs to help her move on. But they won’t because most men would shut down in a situation like this and these authors will always justify their partners cheating as a result.
Anyways Becky vows to ruin Tay. Ok babes let’s see it. So they’ve been waiting for the principal to return from her vacation so they can submit all the complaints about Tay. Only Tay beats them to it and convinces Paul (Carters creepy co-worker) to call in and report questionable behavior by his nephews teacher. So the school board puts Becky on immediate leave, pending investigation. Well Billy (Carter’s boss and Paul’s brother) happens to have recording of Tay blowing Paul in exchange for him calling in the complaint. All of Becky’s and Carter’s friends get together to help Becky out. They mobilize everyone to come to the town hall. Turns out a parents mom saw Tay having sex with another teacher in a classroom. This is really bad because that teacher was dating Becky’s other friend/co-worker Sophia.
Eventually they submit all of this to the school board and even Tay’s aunt joins in, Tay gets fired. Carter and Billy donate a bunch of stuff to the fundraiser festival to help Becky’s class afford their field trip. Tay tries to confront them again there and tells Becky she wanted Carter because she’s so mid. Tay gets caught and dragged home by her dad. She doesn’t show up for a hearing and ends up behind bars apparently. Carter and Becky supposedly live happily ever after. He ”patiently” tries to rebuild their relationship. Like he didn’t have a whole consensual emotional affair with a client while he can’t even stand her talking to Billy, because he thinks it might be flirtatious. Oh and of course everyone is going to therapy, the miracle wattpad grovel cure for all forms of cheating! Like that was the real problem here.
As usual this is a shallow grovel novel for the whole purpose of forgiving a weak man who doesn’t deserve it. Especially someone who can’t see an obvious, comically evil OW like Tay. I just can’t. The “sexual assault” plot line after they’ve been essentially consensually dating while blowing off his fiancée for literal months really just made me regret learning to read. Oh yeah all while he also deletes texts but he really didn’t think anything wrong was happening ok everybody?
He emotionally cheats on his fiancé with a client ( and physically if you count letting ow touch him ) but he is easily forgiven because the ow later kisses him and he gets an erection that he didn't want because he didn't push the ow soon enough, and that becomes the focus of the book rather than him initiating an emotional affaire, while disguising it as " trying to make more money for the fmc "
note : the next book the logic of love is also about a cheater who has an emotional affaire with his assistant/ sister's bestfriend, the way he talked about the ow was absolutely disgusting, noticing all her features, when her skirt hikes, when her shirt tugs, when she " lights up a room" , it was much much more disgusting than this book.
He had an EA with a woman. He chose to continue to drive her. She was a bright spot in his day. He started ignoring fmc for this woman, confiding in her, etc but we have a weak excuse that he was doing it for money for the fmc. No. She found ways to "make" him touch her. Nope. Then because she kissed him and he says he didn't want her to, all is immediately forgiven, poor him. Did we just forget the straight up lying, ignoring and gaslighting he did to the fmc? For weeks? When he was doing much more than just driving her around? Then, of course, it's discovered she's getting around all over town. Because it's ALL her fault. No.
This book really lost me after FMC decides MMC was assaulted. Yes, of course men can be assaulted. But this man was having a full out emotional affair. Lying all the time to his woman. Putting the OW first. He allowed what happened with his previous actions. He wasn’t drugged or drinking. OW was nasty, but come on, he made that door WIDE open to her. He isn’t a fucking six year old with zero life experience or agency. Why didn’t he remove her the second she got into his lap? And the FMC is heartbroken for the MMC over his assault now? Like he’s just a big ol’ silly man? I felt like we were talking about somebody with a mental disability who can’t possibly defend himself against nefarious skanks. Ugh. I’m annoyed.
Update… All right… after thinking about this book way too much, I’m going up to 4 stars. I stand by my review and annoyance, but it WAS well done. I appreciate anyone who can write this genre and annoy me this much. 😂 I’m glad they got their HEA.
Could have been better. I actually did start reading this on watt-pad and if memory serves me right I liked the book. I think it was expanded from watt-pad and some things either didn't make sense or not needed. I couldn't write a book so always Kudo's for those that do.
Spoilers
MMC - Carter comes home late over and over says he is working late. FMC sees a text on phone from a Taylor she finds out is a girl. He says he is only giving her rides around town to make extra money. He has deleted messages. He had been telling the OW things he had not shared with the FMC and getting close to her. He didn't see anything wrong with that.
Then the FMC sees them together at a festival and he lies about it, then she finds out the ow has kissed him. Later on we find out is more than that she was in his lap and apparently grinding and he tells her he did get hard when she did that. The fmc is like "No" that she was assaulting him and he is now forgiven for everything. This is the part I don't find believable. He had the opportunity to push her off before he got hard. So to me the book went down hill after that because she forgave him and then he starts putting it together that the ow was touching him too much.
Then we find out the FMC also hid something from him. Someone he worked with had touched her without her consent when they first started dating and she never told him. They had been together for 3 years at this point I think.
More drama with OW she starts working at school the FMC is at and causes drama trying to get her fired.
MMC has an emotional affair and in my opinion physical FMC does kick the MMC out for a brief time FMC and MMC get back together The OW gets her due.

I read this twice. Once in Wattpad and now in Kindle.
The MMC had an emotional affair with OW/villain. It started with her paying him for a job to drive her around while her car was being fixed. Then there was touches, terms of endearment, her cooking for him and then him opening up to her and lying to his fiance whenever he spends time with her. There was physical contact initiated by OW. She sat on his lap and grinded on him and kissed him and he got aroused by that. But it was being explained away as biology that he really did not want her that way. But his body responded. That he told her numerous times to stop but she did not. Yet he continued spending time “working” for her. My contention with this is that the guy was portrayed as clueless to the OW antics at hooking him in. Suspension of belief here is such a stretch. Like you truly have to have maximum suspension abilities. A guy always knows when a woman is into him. Especially a woman who spends time with him one on one, touches him at every opportunity, calls him endearments and cooks for him. I just do not find the clueless guy trope easily believable. There were some authors able to pull this off but with this plot it was not so convincing especially when his cluelessness is the foundation of the part of him being sexually assaulted by this OW. I get it is possible to experience unwanted arousal. But what I do not get really is the cluelessness that led to this situation. And this may be the first book where I discovered that I do not like the sexually assaulted guy trope based on “I was not expecting the OW to do that”. Especially given how the OW has thrown herself at him. I guess for some readers this MMC being assaulted by OW makes the guy “innocent” and washes away majority of his wrongs against the FMC with the added bonus of painting a truly evil OW. But it did not work that way for me. There was comeuppance for OW so that part was okay. But I wish that was not what made this book okay. I wish it was the main characters themselves evolving and connecting and doing the work.
Relationship in trouble because of emotional cheating that could have been avoided if the MMC was less naive, gullible, insecure and easy to manipulate. The FMC was a bit of a doormat at the beginning especially with the gaslighting from the MMC. But I liked how they got back to the other woman who was a wolf in sheep’s clothing. Good petty revenge and comeuppance ! The editing was bad! In the middle of a chapter, the POV changed without warning! I had to re-read it a few times to make sense of the scene!
I really enjoyed this story and the characters. There were a few bumps like the chaotic first meeting. I would have liked a little more of their backstory first. I would think her sister would have been first to see her with all the school stuff. The OW drama in this was a bit OTT. Just want to point out it is a story about cheating mostly emotionally, he lied, deleted messages and he did it intentionally which was what made me so angry. And spent all his time with OW. He chose her over his fiancée for months. And the whole thing in his car yes it was physically cheating he didn’t do the deed but it was enough and it wasn’t assault or biology it was arousal he could have stopped it anytime before it got that far. Sorry anyone who is as in love with a person as he was for Becky wouldn’t have allowed any of that. I don’t care how nice you are. And if she was just his friend he would have introduced her to his fiancée. was he redeemable an iffy yes but he did have a summer fling with OW even after he knew about his fiancées past relationship with abuse/cheating and he tried to make her feel bad about how he was spending his time.
Whatever way the author try to make this book, I don’t accept it at all. This whole thing is a joke. Is this even a serious book or what? One moment they are breaking up, next moment they are laughing, smiling, joking with friends like nothing happened. What is this behavior? Where is the seriousness? This type of story needs weight, emotion, tension not this clown show.
And Carter that man is a complete joke. I lost count how many times he started talking about how hot Taylor is, how attractive she is, how amazing her body is, how desirable she is. Like seriously, is that all in his brain? No control, no shame, no respect. Just lust and nonsense. This is not a man, this is someone with zero backbone.
He wasn’t even confused cause he knew exactly what he was doing. This was not just emotional, it was physical too. Kissing, being affectionate, crossing every line possible. Don’t even try to make it look small. If Becky didn’t catch him, I am 100% sure he would have gone all the way. So what exactly are we defending here?
Becky was absolutely right. He really does act like someone who sells himself. No dignity, no self-respect, nothing. Today Taylor, tomorrow someone else with money who even knows? This type of man cannot be trusted at all.
And the story itself? Total mess. I am halfway and still confused what is even happening. No clear plot, no proper flow, nothing connects. Serious scenes turn into jokes. Even confrontation scenes they are smiling, laughing, saying soft nonsense like “my sweet woman” “my beautiful Carter.” What is this cringe? Who talks like that in serious moments?
I don’t even have the will to finish this book. I already know Becky will take him back, and that just makes everything worse. After all this disrespect, she will still go back? No way. I would never take back someone like this. A man who can sell his dignity so easily, who has no control, no loyalty, he will do it again.
Honestly, this is not even beta. This is below that. Completely spineless, no manhood, no strength, nothing. Just weak behavior from start to finish.
This book had potential but turned into a frustrating, unrealistic, messy story with zero seriousness. I regret even starting it.
Logically Broken hit me harder than I expected, though I should start by saying that redemption stories are my favourite. It’s one of those stories that cracks you open a little, messy, uncomfortable, and completely unforgettable. Becky was everything I love in a heroine. She’s tough in that quiet, grounded way, the kind of woman who knows her worth and doesn’t let anyone shake it. Watching her hold her boundaries, even when her heart’s on the line, made me want to cheer for her every time. She’s not cold or bitter, just done with excuses, and I adored that about her. Carter, I swear, no character has made me feel so many things at once. He’s well-meaning but blind to his own mistakes, the kind of man who messes up because he believes he’s doing the right thing. It’s frustrating and heartbreaking at the same time. But once he sees how badly he’s hurt Becky, he owns it. No shortcuts, no easy reconciliation. He puts in the work, and when the forgiveness finally comes, it means something. The workplace tension added a layer of realism that had me gripping my phone in frustration. The “other woman” dynamic could’ve easily turned melodramatic, but it never did. Instead, it stayed grounded, showing just how manipulative people can be without tipping into cliché. Every reaction, especially Becky’s, felt honest. I also have to give credit for how the story tackled male sexual assault. It’s a topic that’s often overlooked, but here it was treated with empathy and intention. Those scenes had me pausing just to process them, not because they were shocking, but because they felt so painfully human. It gave Carter’s character a depth I didn’t see coming and that grovel? Perfect. It wasn’t a quick apology or a grand gesture, it was slow, rough, full of humility. Becky never wavered from who she was, and Carter had to step up if he wanted a second chance. That kind of emotional balance is rare, and honestly, it made the ending all the more satisfying. If I had to sum up the book in one word, it would be ache. The kind that hurts, heals, and lingers all at once. It’s beautifully written, brutally honest. I highly recommend it.
I first read logically broken on Wattpad then followed the author to Patreon and got an arc read. This author has a great grasp of enough plot to drama to steamy times. Her writing was refreshing and she does my favorite genre angst betrayal grovel.
Rated 4 Spice 🌶️🌶️ Grovel was excellent There is an emotional affair and OW drama (psycho ow drama) Talk of sexual assault and sexual assault on a male. Open door spice No third act break up Betrayal
Let’s start with the characters I loved Becky. She wasn’t whiny or a push over fmc and when Carter was lying and hiding things she called him out no excuses. She didn’t let him excuse his behavior. She stood up to Tay-tay (Ow) and really loved herself there was some wondering if she wasn’t pretty enough (emotional affairs do that.) Carter was in the wrong but he was doing this to protect ow from Paul because Paul was a creep. I do think Becky should have told Carter about the Paul situation sooner but I understand why she didn’t.
Carter: oh Carter you dirty mouth naive man. Carter I feel for. Yes he allowed a friendship with a woman and his hero complex come before his relationship. Yes he was completely oblivious to her buuuut he never corrected the behavior. It was obvious he wasn’t tracking her crazy.
Let’s talk about plot. The story is they’re already in a relationship engaged actually. Carter is a mechanic and his boss is a Perv. He heard he was inappropriate with a customer (later we find out some needed facts) so when 21 year old seemingly naive Taylor walks in and Paul gets creepy Carter plays hero.
This leads to a friendship that blurs many lines.
I loved how the author touched on male sexual assault because it happens. Men’s bodies react to friction just because a physical reaction happens that does not mean that it’s wanted it’s not consenting.
All in all I gave it a 4 star read as for a new author it was actually really well written.

So first off I usually love this offer. I’m pretty sure it was Wattpad when I discovered her originally and some of our other stories have been great. There is a very common goal or purpose I think in second chance romance novels, and it’s kind of this let me figure out what the worst thing a guy can do is and still be forgiven. Now that being said, there are a lot of readers out there who literally forgive anything. And those are the kinds that have been betrayed and they want hope that may be if a guy betrays them they’ll change. And that’s fine. I have higher standards and more self-respect than that, but whatever. This is one of those that she tried really hard to fix this situation and there is no fixing it. Whatsoever.
he lied regularly. Here’s the thing once trust is broken. Anybody who says that it can be earned back is lying to themselves. We as humans do learn. That’s what makes us different from our animal counterparts. We learn. He trained her to not trust him. It doesn’t matter if it’s five months or 10 years down the road anytime he gets a message that she doesn’t know what it is. There will be a little seed in the back of her mind, wondering what it is. There is no coming back from this. He did not earn it. He did not deserve it and the fact that Taylor kissed him and he wasn’t even gonna tell her isn’t OK. This relationship needed to be over and she needed to just be with somebody else. I just get tired of authors, thinking that redemption is the formula for writing a great book. Sometimes a new partner is the rights choice.
I originally read this book as it was being written through WattPad and was honored to receive an ARC version of the book to read again before it is released. Stella does an amazing job of creating this community of characters that pulls you in and gives you the feels (even if those feels sometimes tell you to throw something or hypothetically shake some sense into a character). I absolutely want to hang out with them at Joe's or during a Friday Night Music Extravaganza and maybe risk trying to pet Tom Hanks.
Becky is an amazing FMC who knows her worth and will not allow someone to walk all over her. She's fierce and protective but is also compassionate and genuine. I was very fortunate to have a few teachers like her while I was growing up and wish every child could have a "Becky". Carter is such Golden Retriever energy when he's not being TSTL. Was I furious with Carter both times I've read the book? Absolutely!!! Did i want to kick him for how he hurt Becky? Yes!! Was he easy for me to forgive? Also absolutely, but dont take that as saying he didnt have to grovel. The way he goes about showing Becky how loved and appreciated she is, and not just by him, is perfection. Inits original version on WP, there was no spice. In the final version, the spice is hot 🔥 🥵. If every child could use a Becky, every woman could use a Carter.
The OW is vile and manipulative. Another self-entitled rich girl who thinks because her father has power and money that she's somehow important and that her actions have no consequences.

Stella Lynn did an excellent job with her book Logically Broken. I've read this book twice now, first on Wattpad and then as an ARC reader and enjoyed it both times. If you love a good grovel and betrayal novel packed with Other Woman drama, please give this one a shot.
**SPOILERS** * * * * At the beginning of the story Becky and Carter live together and are clearly on the path to permanence when something fundamental shifts in their relationship. Carter stops coming home and spending all his evenings with Becky. He starts working late more and more often. Turns out the late nights are related to driving a new client of the auto shop he works at around when she needs work done on her car. A female client (Taylor). Carter appears to choose Taylor over Becky enough times that Becky finally has enough and kicks him out. Unfortunately for Becky, she is not rid of Taylor yet, it turns out the new woman in town is actually her new teaching assistant which she finds out when the new school year starts up. And Taylor sets about to make her life hell. Can Carter grovel hard enough to win back his one true love and also save her from the threat of losing her career due to Taylor's schemes? Read and find out...
(Yes, obviously I've left a lot of detail out but I don't want to completely spoil it. There are reasons why Carter got into this situation in the first place and I think that the best place to discover those is in the book itself.)
Triggers: Cheating (emotional), Perception of cheating (physical), Major OWD
Tropes: Second chance, Betrayal and Grovel

"Logically Broken" is an emotional powerhouse that tackles one of the toughest themes in romance: the moment the foundation of trust suddenly shatters. Stella Lynn delivers a story that is simultaneously painful, gritty, and incredibly human.
Why is this story so gripping?
The Authenticity of Pain: Becky’s perspective, as her world crumbles due to lies and secrets, is described with incredible vividness. The reader can almost physically feel her internal struggle between logic and her heart.
A Complex Protagonist: Carter is a character you can’t judge in black and white. His "chaotic attempts to be better" lead to catastrophic decisions, making him a flesh-and-blood hero—flawed, yet desperate to fix his mistakes.
Small-Town Atmosphere: The setting adds a layer of coziness that contrasts beautifully with the characters' turbulent emotions. It’s the perfect backdrop for a fight for redemption.
A Touch of Darkness and Wit: The author masterfully balances heavy moments with humor, ensuring the story never feels overwhelming but remains completely addictive.
If you love a second chance trope where the road to forgiveness is rocky and unpredictable, you will fall for Becky and Carter. It’s a story about how perfection doesn't exist, and true love is often the ability to piece back together what we once broke ourselves.
I received an ARC (Advance Review Copy) of this book directly from the author in exchange for an honest review.
This was one of my absolute favorite reads on Wattpad in 2025, so the moment it released on KU I immediately preordered it and dove right back in for a reread.
The author tackles some incredibly heavy themes—most notably betrayal—while working towards a story of redemption. Even with the emotional weight of the story, there are perfectly timed moments of humor that provide relief and will genuinely make you laugh out loud.
Becky is an FMC you fall in love with instantly. She’s a firecracker—strong, self-aware, and absolutely not a doormat! She’s vulnerable in a way that makes you want to wrap her in a hug, but she also knows her worth and refuses to compromise her boundaries, even when it means walking away from the man she loves.
And Carter… wow. He’s the kind of MMC who will make you furious. You’ll want to throw your book across the room over some of his choices. But what makes this story so compelling is how Stella Lynn manages to take a character who makes you rage at the start and slowly transform him into someone you find yourself not just rooting for, but falling totally in love with. That kind of character redemption arc is incredibly hard to pull off, and she does it beautifully.
If you love a betrayal-to-redemption romance where the characters actually have to do the work to earn their happily ever after—without the easy escape of new love interests—this book is absolutely for you.
Received an ARC and ths is my honest review. Originally read on Wattpad.
FYI, there is the implication of cheating, but no actual cheating so that tag is not used.
Grovel = H (due to breakdown of communication on his part) is shutting down and shutting out the h. H keeps abandoning the h to go to the OW. H forgets things to do with the h (like spending certain days with the h that is a yearly tradition). h has had enough and has been left/forgotten one too many times and leaves the H. H must work very hard to prove to the h that he is not that guy. It is a hard grovel and the h really knows her worth. It was so good.
h sees H with OW = h gets to see the H acting cuddly and sweetly with the OW at a festival (in reality it was the OW being very manipulative and forcing a narrative/visual that was not true)
OW drama = OW is the niece of the admin at the school the h works at. OW mocks the h to her face, makes many insinuations to the h about how much the H wants her, OW creates drama at h's work getting the h suspended, OW makes multiple moves on the H, etc. Comeuppance? Don't want to spoil it...I know!! I normally do...but read the book, it's such a good book.
Loved this book and am reading everything the author still has on Wattpad.

Emotional affair tropes hurt so much to read, and this one hits that angst perfectly. Becky being so broken by the betrayal and Carter being horrified once he realizes what he’s actually done just works for me. Yes, Carter is very beta in his energy. He’s conflict avoidant, lies for the “good of others”, and allowed himself to be put in a situation that hurt his fiancee…but he also puts in the work once he realizes that. He owns up to his mistakes and works to earn back Becky’s trust.
Becky, to her credit, is a strong-willed woman who doesn’t bend in her feelings. Even after finding out Carter was SA’d, she is compassionate and empathetic without letting it be an excuse for all his poor choices prior to that moment. I really loved her character.
The SA plot was handled well, acknowledging that men can be victims too without demonizing women. I do wish there were more repercussions for it, but maybe that’s the reality: too often, there aren’t consequences for SA.
I’m interested in reading more from this author though! This wasn’t perfect. There was some editing that needed to happen to tighten the narrative some, but I did really enjoy the story overall.

I absolutely devoured this book. Could not put it down. In fact I've already reread it several times :-) Becky and Carter had such a cute "meet cute". Carter working as an auto mechanic and Becky just moving into their small town to begin teaching in a new school. I loved them both from the very beginning in the Prologue. (not to say Carter didn't have me wanting to throw my phone at the wall a few tines throughout the book) but by the end you will love him and want to pull him into a great big hug. Becky is probably one of my all time favorites FMC. She's a strong character (definitely not a doormat) and her love for teaching, her students, friends and her community were a few of her amazing qualities. Everyone would want a friend like Becky. Her sense of humor had me laughing throughout the book. Becky had it right, Moron Motors would've been a perfect name for The Shop :-) I loved the side characters and can't wait to catch up with them in future books! I highly recommend grabbing your copy and diving into Becky and Carter's story.
The h and H are engaged. She teaches middle school. He is a mechanic. Lately the h senses some distance between them. He is often working late. Special traditions have been forgotten. Meals are missed. Then she finds a text from "Tay" with a winky emoji about dinner tonight and tomorrow. She confronts him and asks to see his phone. She follows the thread which are mostly texts initiated by "Tay" the OW asking for drives. Her car is in the shop and the owner has arranged for the H to drive her while her car is being repaired. Then the H lies to her. The h sees the H and OW at an outdoor music event but he lies when she asks where he's been. Finally he admits to driving the OW and being kissed. The h throws him out. He quietly continues the maintenance of her car, cleaning the yard of dog poop, and stocking her kitchen with her favourite tea. The OW gets a job in the h's school and pretends to get flowers and chocolate from the H. Then the OW goes after the h's job. There are hints of storylines for secondary characters.
Carter and Becky’s story was great the first time I read it. And then, I read it again, and oh my lord… Carter became more of a dumdum each time!
Becky was a bit of a mess. She was hilarious, a bit OTT, and had such a heart of gold. Now Carter… he was so unapologetically TSTL without a single malicious bone in his body, so while you fault him for his actions, you can’t help but forgive him and root for the HEA.
Stella Lynn hasn’t just created two characters that you want to root for. She’s touched on a pretty tough topic that almost no one goes near. And even knowing it’s coming, it’s still quite confronting.
I really liked the additional characters… knowing that this is book one of the series, you can see who is likely to be in the next one, and it looks like it’s going to hurt.
* Standalone * OW drama * FMC Becky x MMC Carter * Emotional cheating * HEA between original couple * Betrayal and Grovel
This is my first read by this author I had been following this story on wattpad and it did not disappoint. If you liked Siena Sloanes pulled away then this is right up your alley.
I absolutely loved that Becky wasn't a doormat, but also that she didn't jump to conclusions she stopped, thought and double checked. Although Carter didn't physically cheat he did allow the lines to get blurry allowing the OW in.
I am happy to say the OW gets her due and that the MMC Grovel felt very satisfying.
What an amazing book. Becky and Carter are in a relationship and were extremely happy. That is until Tay turns up. Carter starts spending way to much time with her and is really is TSTL at times. When Becky has enough she ends the relatioship. I went between thinking that Carter was willfully ignorant to thinking he really did not have a clue. He continued to make bad decision after bad decision that ended up having something happen that no one should be subject to. What follows is Carter and Becky trying to find their way back to each other. Carters grovel is heartfelt and his growth is stunning. I was totally onboard with Becky and Carter's happy ever after.
Absolutely loved this book! I received an ARC from the author and I downloaded it at 5:30 this morning and finished it at 8:15 I could not put it down. The FMC inner dialogue was hilarious. The author sets up future books with the secondary characters perfectly because after getting to know them in Logically Broken you need their stories. The MMC was TSTL but by the end of the book you were rooting for him to succeed. The OW drama was on point and she definitely got what she deserved. I don't want to say to much because I don't want to give anything away but definitely go read this book.
Absolutely loved this book! Becky and Carter are both amazing. We start off with amazing chemistry which is disrupted by Carter’s stupidity but everything comes full circle. Becky’s got an absolutely amazing sense of humor and her internal (and external) dialogue is by far my favorite part of the story. Carter is sweet and clueless, leading to some major drama with OW shenanigans but it is amazing to read these 2 characters working through their damage and finding out if the still have a future together.
Becky and Carter were fantastic together! Carter screwed up bad but I don't think he intentionally meant to hurt Becky, he was just trying to make life simpler and it blew up in his face, the usual way things happen when you try to shortcut things. Becky is strong independent and knows her worth, which made me love her from the start. When Carter realizes that he lost the best thing that ever happened to him, he mans up and works on making things right. Honestly everyone needs and deserves a Carter AND Becky in their life. Hands down, GREAT BOOK! Stella you rocked this out and I look forward to any/all your future works.
I think Emotional Affair stories are my favorite trope lately. This one wasn't too shabby. I liked the angsty goodness this story brought up from the Hero's situation. I am seeing all the 1 Star Reviews because the reviewers didn't think the Hero groveled enough. My review is totally the opposite, because I kind of felt bad for the Hero by the end of this story. This heroine was pretty hard on the dude, who didn't really cheat on his woman at all. I loved the OW drama in this story too. Good stuff!
Overall: ⭐️⭐️⭐️½ Couple: Carter & Becky ❋❋❋❋❋❋ Not usually left wondering how I feel about a book, not necessarily a bad thing. I will say I did struggle just a little with the writing style, but was able to still get through it. There was a good storyline and both Carter and Becky had personalities. I just had a hard time believing that a thirty year old man could absolutely have NO clue. The drama was definitely brought, and the secondary characters were great. In the end I guess the ending was believable I just definitely felt different about both of them.
I absolutely adore this book! I loved Becky and Carter! Carter definitely spent a large portion of this book TSTL and that is part of why I was able to so easily forgive him. I never doubted his love for Becky, even as he was making mistake after mistake in their relationship. I truly believe he was naive and didn’t realize until it was too late what Tay Tay was up to. I was definitely not a fan of hers and she was completely unlikable and luckily that is addressed by the end.😈
Becky was so patient until she really couldn’t turn a blind eye any more. What followed was rough and touched on a topic that is very delicate and did it well. I felt bad for Carter and my heart hurt for him when Becky called him an escort after learning the real story. He made a lot of mistakes, but they were not due to attraction to Taylor or wanting her. I genuinely believe that he only loved Becky and only wanted Becky, but got caught up in something he couldn’t get out of in trying to make money to make their lives better. I completely believed in his grovel and the school board scene just made me grin! I seriously could not stop smiling as I read it and I may have teared up a little.
Stella Lynn does an excellent job with delicate topics, which is something I respect immensely. She manages to touch on them and make you feel them in a way that feels real. It makes you really feel for Carter in this case.
I loved the side characters and this book is an excellent start to the series! She builds an entire world where I want to learn more about the other character and their lives and look forward to upcoming books in the series. The world building is solid! Also, I kind of want to buy a peacock, so people can ask me about it all the time. It’s an instant conversation starter! I loved how Becky physically could not NOT ask about Jill about her peacock!🤣
By the end of the end of this book Carter became a favorite of mine. He is just so lovable and sweet! I want to just snuggle him! Love him!!! 😍
I cannot wait to read more on the boys (they don’t deserve men status yet) of The Shop! Stella Lynn has become a must read author of mine and I look forward to reading more of her work! I loved this book and I love her work and I highly recommend it to anyone that loves a good grovel with a HEA!
It’s a story of love, betrayal and hea.Carter and Becky were really good together. They were in love and a perfect couple till Carter really messed up. He prioritized ow and had an emotional affair with her. The realization hit him too late and it cost him love of his life. He worked hard towards redeeming himself and found his way back to Becky OW did get her comeuppance.. I really loved the story and their well deserved hea.
