I liked this book. It was a great story but I wish it was fleshed out a little more.
- There was a decent amount of typos. The epilogue says it's Cole but it's Chance. This doesn't bother me too much - The relationship building was non existent. She meets the guys, they pretty much fall for her immediately by looking at her and the next day she's gushing over them, pretty much exclaiming that she knows they love her. I'm big on relationship building and it would've been nice to get more. - The story was good. Scandal 5 years ago. trouble brews. Info gets found out and things get a little dangerous. -The guys were not too different from each other. Cole is a little quieter. Chance is flirty and Luke is big bro, Mr serious.
Even though we got an epilogue, it was 5 months later and we didn't get to see the true results of what the ending was. There wasn't a marriage, there wasn't a kid, there wasn't really anything outside of maybe rebuilding.
I liked the book but felt there could've been more to it.
The blurb drew me in and I really enjoyed some aspects of this book... the mystery from 5 years ago, The Saddle Sisters and I liked the brothers with Melanie, despite there being zero relationship building. They were hot together. What bothered me were the endless errors. The story was confusing when people had the wrong name and that happened a lot. Melanie's role in the whole story was weird. Writer, turned web designer, social media expert and investigator? The whole thing felt clumsy and the end was predictable.

I liked this book, despite it having a good deal of plot issues. Definitely a four star for vibes versus perfect story telling. Which is fine by me. Sometimes I’m just looking for a good time and Pepper Swan delivered. Melanie washes up in the tiny Montana town of Blacktop Ridge after her successful Hollywood career as a TV writer ends due a terrible experience with a powerful man. She ends up meeting the 3 gorgeous Ryder brothers and agrees to help them try to save their floundering ranch. Their Aunt Cricket and her group of wise and worldly friends, the Saddle Sisters, also sweep her into a mystery of who is out to destroy the Ryder ranch. All while Melanie falls fast for all three of the sexy cowboys. This is a good writer who needed a better editor. While I enjoyed the book, its potential to be great was tamped down by repetitive scenes and vague descriptions. The book is saved by the characters. Melanie’s Hollywood “me too” situation will feel familiar to many readers. She is likable and tough in the face of a lousy situation. Each of the Ryder brothers is dealing with their own demons and are equally appealing. I really like how the Why Choose situation was handled. The bothers are open and straight forward about how they don’t mind sharing if more than one is interested and don’t see the point in getting jealous between brothers. What girl in the midst of a life altering crisis would say no to that? However, as a woman in her 50’s (like so many romance readers), I do think Swan may have gone a little overboard with her repeated reframe of how old and grandmotherly the Saddle Sisters are - as if they were 20 years older and not the vibrant women whose hard work and bravery help save the day. Also, the conclusion of the mystery was unfortunately telegraphed from very early on with no real alternative suspects given, leaving the big reveal as a bit of a let down since, who the heck else is going to be? All that being said, Write Me a New Life is a fast and enjoyable read and I will come back to see what happens next in Blacktop Ridge. Thank you to BookSirens and author Pepper Swan for the opportunity to read and review an advanced copy of this book.
This book was by a new to me author and, while I thought it was okay, I wasn’t terribly impressed. Melanie leaves California, where she was forced out of a toxic workplace and blacklisted for speaking out. She heads to Montana and an offer from a woman she worked with once, a rodeo queen who occasionally helps the film industry to make their stories more realistic.
Melanie is introduced to the Ryder brothers, three men trying to make a go of their new riding stables. Not long after agreeing to help them with their marketing, the four begin looking into the problems that plagued the ranch and might send them into bankruptcy.
The writing was fine, and I like the fish out of water trope. I think what made it a three star for me was how quickly the relationships happened. It wasn’t really believable. Now I get that you have to suspend your disbelief when reading a reverse harem, especially when all the men are fantastically handsome and swoon-worthy. But I would have liked more relationship building between Melanie and the guys. It’s hard to identify with a woman that incredible that three men all fall immediately and don’t mind sharing.
I also thought the trope I was looking forward to, Melanie being a newbie in Montana, would have been more interesting. Instead, she fit in right away. Everyone loved her and she picked up everything right away and, well, again, it was a bit too much to believe.
I did find the mystery and suspense added a lot to the book and made it more interesting to read. So while the romance was pretty much insta-love (and the spicy scenes were few and without much kick), the mystery saved the book from being a carbon copy of too many other books these days.

Melanie turns to a friend from the past when things go sideways in LA. Even though she is the victim, she is the one who pays the price. She takes herself off to the woman who offered her a place if she ever needed it. Maya finds out she has come at the right time; her writing skills are required to help advertise her nephew's ranch.
Luke, Chance, and Cole have run the ranch since their father passed. But it seems like the ranch is cursed. Their father had to deal with a fire in the arena, which the ranch never seemed to recover from, and since then, the men have had an uphill struggle to survive.
Maya has some great ideas she can implement for the ranch, ones that will grab attention in all the different forms of media, which will hopefully bring more work to the ranch.
At the same time, Cricket and her friends Ruthie, Vivi, and Loretta are looking into the fire on the ranch. There is a lot that doesn't add up when re-visiting the incident. Was this arson disguised as an accident? Were hands greased, and people paid to look the other way, stalling and misdirecting the investigation?
The men and women worked together to find answers, but along the way, the professional becomes personal for Maya and the men. Can Maya put her trust in this relationship when her career is threatened again? Will they be happy to share, or will jealousy prove too much? But when the chips are down, friendships and loyalty are tested, and all looks lost, they all pull together to get justice for the Ryder family.

This story had me hooked from the start, give me a mystery with cowboys and I’m all in.
Melanie flees Hollywood after life knocks her flat, heading to Montana to regroup with a friend. Enter Cricket, who takes her under her wing and promptly introduces her to her three dangerously charming nephews.
The Ryder boys are barely holding their ranch together. A devastating fire destroyed their arena years ago, and the loss of their father still lingers over everything. Luke, the oldest, carries the crushing weight of keeping their parents’ legacy alive. He is steady, kind, but guarded. Chance, the former golden rodeo star, hides his pain behind an easy smile and flirtatious charm (and yes, he was absolutely my favorite). Cole, the youngest, is quiet, observant, and fiercely protective, especially when it comes to the people he loves.
When Melanie and the Ryder boys join forces with a group of sharp, no-nonsense older women, the Saddle Sisters, to uncover the truth behind the long-ago arena fire, things quickly spiral. What starts as curiosity turns into a tangled mystery that keeps throwing curveballs their way.
This was a seat-gripping, small-town mystery with strong Nancy Drew vibes, but with a grown-up, cowboy twist. I was completely pulled in. While it could benefit from a light round of editing, it didn’t take away from how much I enjoyed the story.

I really did enjoy the story but felt there could have been more to the build up of their relationship. Pretty much they fell in love at first whistle.
The story follows Melanie, a run out of Hollywood writer who is leaving behind a narcissist boss who demeaned and changed the narrative to make her the bad guy of his abuse. She finds refuge with Cricket, another movie/show person, not really sure what she does, since it was offered to Melanie on set on day.
Here Cricker thrusts her at her three nephews or have their own issues due to ongoing problems on the their ranch since a fire happened 5 years prior.
The mystery was good and it kept me reading but the fall into bed with each one was pretty quick with no good lead up.
The epiloge was in Chance's POV not Cole's. Not a big deal. There were typos and definitely could tell our author has never spent much time, or if any in Montana. The cattle are Herefords, not Holsteins and the horses are moved in a trailer not carriage. Being a Montanan and around the Western lifestyle some things nagged on me.
It also was stated Cricket was a past rodeo person, but why did she get into movies? Why didn't she just stay back and help her brother with the ranch. There are other questions too but they would be spoilers.
Overall a decent book. Its not super spicy but the scenes are good. Story and plot is there just need some fine tuning on lost or missing parts.
This is a small town, cowboy reverse harem romance with a mystery plot intertwined. Melanie is a writer (screen?) from Hollywood who was verbally belittled and singled out of her career, her home, all because of a popular actor who could do no wrong. She leaves town to start over- start what though she isn’t sure.
The story involves her meeting 3 gorgeous cowboy brothers, and her trying to help them rebrand their riding school. There is a 5 year old mystery involving a fire that ultimately led to things become dire at the ranch, which comes into play with Melanie’s appearance, helping the plot along.
Things that were done well: -Found family -Interesting story arc -Montana backdrop/ranch vibes -Sweet MMCs
Things that weren’t so well done: -Insta love/devotion, insta sex -Some sexual scenes didn’t make sense -Repetition of phrases or ideas when sharing big plot twists -why did Melanie know how to write and also do media, and IT stuff? What was her real role in Hollywood? -the villains were pretty obvious
Overall a fun quick read. Spice could be rated a 3-4 due to multiple on page sexual scenes. Triggers include multiple loving interests involving the same family, reported verbal assault, and arson.
Thank you for the arc Hidden Gems Books and Pepper Swan.
This reverse harem romance is an enjoyable read that really takes the time to show you what the characters want and why. The emotional connections are described in satisfying detail, which makes it easy to relate to them and invest in their relationships. There’s a good balance between outside threats and romantic development. The tension around the relationship dynamic keeps things interesting, while the external conflicts add just enough stakes without overwhelming the romance. Since it’s a full-length novel, there’s solid character development throughout. That said, there were moments where I wished the pacing had been a little faster. It’s not slow exactly, but occasionally it lingers a bit longer than necessary. It’s also worth noting that while there is spice, it’s not over-the-top. The focus leans more toward connection and relationship dynamics than constant steam. Overall, this is a well-rounded reverse harem romance that delivers tension, emotional depth, and an enjoyable reading experience. If you like this type of romance, it’s definitely worth picking up.

You will not want to stop reading about what happens next. Melanie was treated horribly by her last job. Seeking out an old acquaintance and hoping her offer of shelter and a new change of life ends up being so much better than she ever imagined. She has the ability to help them save their struggling ranch if they allow her to try. But someone doesn't want them to succeed. Grief from the past when a fire destroyed the riding ring that caused enough stress to kill their father eats away the ability to keep up the hope that things could get better. When the people who believe that fraud was used against the Ryders start digging into the past, things start happening to hurt the Ryders ranch. Sabotaging and threats lead to arson and possibility of death for the people and animals of the Ryders ranch. You are not going to believe who is partially responsible and why. Very good book!!!

GENRES Cowboys Romance, Small Town Romance, Why Choose Romance, Reverse Harem Romance, Slow Burn, Friends To Lovers, Found Family,
The storyline on this one got me good with Melanie and her cowboys. The mystery side of it overpowered the why choose aspect this small town romance but I loved each of the characters and the nosey saddle sisters. It gives you typical small town romance and if you don’t like your books spicy this is it. I am a spicy scene lover and this one didn’t really give the spice details I would expect in a why choose romance. So if you enjoy reading romance without the dirty details this one is for you. I was power reading to get to the bottom of the fire mystery and really enjoyed the small town vibes.
What’s better than one cowboy? Three, obviously. 🤠
This was such an easy, addictive read, perfect if you love a why choose romance with a little extra bite. The mystery element kept things interesting alongside the spice, and I really enjoyed how the story balanced both. You’ve got a struggling ranch, a past that won’t stay buried, and four characters working through their own emotional baggage while the tension steadily builds.
The Ryder brothers each bring something different, and that dynamic made the relationships feel layered rather than rushed. Add in forced proximity and that slow-burn-to-scorching payoff, and it delivers exactly what you want.
If you love reverse harem with a bit of plot, high heat, and a satisfying HEA...this one is worth adding to your TBR.

I just finished Write Me a New Life by Pepper Swan and I really enjoyed it.
It’s a why choose set in a small town with a city girl starting over, and three cowboy brothers… which sounds like it could be a lot, but it honestly works so well. Each brother has his own personality, and I liked that they all felt distinct and added something different to the story.
What stood out most to me was the emotional depth. It’s not just romance, it’s about healing, starting over, and finding where you belong. The small-town setting and found family elements made it feel even more comforting and real.
There’s definitely chemistry and some spice, but it didn’t overpower the story. It added to the relationships and made everything feel more connected.
If you enjoy why choose romances with heart, strong character dynamics, and a mix of emotion and romance, this one is definitely worth reading.
I wanted to like this one so bad! I received it as an ARC from BookSirens and am so grateful to have had the opportunity. But unfortunately, it just fell flat, predictable, and repetitive for me. The story has a good premise and definitely has potential, the FMC was cool, and I loved the Aunt, but the MMCs kind of blended together aside from the personalities we are told they have when meeting them. They never really grow beyond that. And I had a hard time picturing them in my head while reading. Also, the group scene was kinda awkward.. I don't know if this is the author's first Why choose book but as an avid, almost exclusive, why choose/RH reader.. this one was kinda cringe for me I wouldn't NOT recommend this one, but I fell out of the story around 81%.
Melanie left Hollywood because she stood up for herself and got blacklisted. Deciding to take Cricket’s offer to visit, it leads her to the Wild Heart Ranch. Meeting the three sexy cowboys changes her life. The three brothers Luke, Chance and Cole need all the help they can get to save their ranch. The Hollywood angel is just the person they need. But old secrets and buried past threatens their future. With the help of their aunt, the Saddle sisters and Melanie, the Ruder boys are ready to uncover an old mystery and claim their future. I voluntarily reviewed this book after receiving a free copy.
This book reads very well. There is MMMF relationship with some spice throughout the story but also a great plot line involving arson, sabotage at the ranch and threats to people in the story. This is because other characters want the land. The main characters are supported by 4 older women, collectively known as the Saddle Sisters. All characters are well drawn and have a good presence in the story. There is a HEA and I found this book a very enjoyable read.
This was a sweet rh romance. Melanie is a strong, sweet, smart woman. She leaves Hollywood because standing up for herself there was career ending. Calling on an old Hollywood friend in Montana she starts over meeting 3 cowboy brothers with dark hearts from past trauma. Yummy, very sweet, very steamy. Lots of betrayal, a bit of action. Russel is my favorite character 🐶 but the Ryder brothers weren't bad either.
This book isn't what I thought it would be. When I read " Write Me a New Life", I mistakenly thought it was going to be like the choose your adventure we would read as kids. It wasn't. This book wasn't really my cup of tea but the storyline kept me engaged enough that I kept reading. The storyline was actually decent and there was more storyline than romance.

I'm voluntarily leaving a review after receiving a free copy. I liked how the relationship between Melanie, Luke, Chance and Cole developed into love. They do this amid the danger of sabotage and arson. I liked how the Saddle sisters help them uncover the truth about the old and new fires to find the culprits. The sheriff and others are there at the end to deliver justice.
She is leaving Hollywood o get some space and recover from the issues which haunts her now. She is shocked when three brothers coming calling, she wants one of them and all of them at the same time. She is then pulled into a mystery by the women of the town. See where it will all lead I received an advance copy from hidden gems and a lovely romantic read
I enjoyed this mystery cowboy why choose romance… who doesn’t wash’s read about the hot cowboy brothers??!! I loved the mystery and who dunnit throughout the story .. I liked the characters and the storyline and plot was very interesting to me… the spicy scenes were hot 🥵 overall fun read for anyone who enjoys small town cowboy romance.. found family.. why choose tropes
I loved this, that Melanie got a way from a narcissist man who wanted to burn her down into the arms of 3 cowboys. Also loved her moving into town really helped them in so many ways and the love story and spice, well let's just say so many emotions. Such great writing bringing each character to life. Even loved Russel the dog
Good read with lots of spice, heart aching pasts, betrayals, found love and family and much more. I enjoyed all the side characters in this book that made the story so special and funny and interesting. I loved the way they never gave up in finding out the truth and loved how the story ended
