Gilmore continues to impress me with stories that are unlike any other. The last chapter of Lynnie Russel’s story was not what I expected but Gilmore did a wonderful job wrapping up this amazing story.

In this one, Lynnie learns even more about her fae nature and those she puts her faith in. She has to accept her fate which means she must learn to let go of the pain of her past and move forward with her life. Will she be able to do it?

I love coming across stories that incorporate supernatural creatures you don’t hear much about. While I have read many books with fae, the Cu Sidhe isn’t one I’ve encountered before. I find the legend fascinating and I love the way Gilmore used it in these books, expanding on it and making it her own, it is one of the reasons I adore her books.

Another thing I absolutely love about this author’s work is the way the books depict heroines that break the mold. They aren’t your typical female roles-they are often strong willed and not as likely to give in to the fantasy of love. I’m not saying they lack the weaknesses that usually causes problems in that department, but their faults tend to be more realistic. They have natural, human qualities that keep you guessing as to what will happen next. You don’t have those ‘horror movie-what the hell are you doing?’ moments. The actions, regardless of outcome seem logical at the time. When things go wrong, there may be a period of sorrow or self doubt but in the end, they are going to find the strength they need to make things right.

Of course, I have to give this one a 10 because of its originality, unpredictability, and for the author’s ability to write a great story that doesn’t fit the mold.

I love Lynnie, so I'm very sad to see the end of this trilogy. This was a great ending, or new beginning, how ever you want to look at it. The story comes full circle in this book.

Lynnie is with Puck the Puca. She is learning to control her beast. Puck is helping her, he wants her happy and needs her to help later. But he wants her to see places first and travel.

After several years, she finally visits back home. This was her last visit.

After warnings, she goes to Knockma. The true reason for her being Cu Sidhe comes out after she learns the mistakes she has made and a betrayal.

Lynnie made me very proud at the end.

"...my friends call me Lynnie. So far, I've ben pretty happy with that. This is my account of the day my life changed forever. As best I can remember it anyhow. Now, normally someone would start their story from the middle, at the point of action begins. I think this story is better told from the beginning. Not back to the day of my birth, mind you. I will start my story just before I was born, for the second time. The day I became..."

I really wish there is more Lynnie, but there won't be. She is an awesome character, that's for sure.

From the moment I first 'met' Lynnie in Becoming I knew I was going to enjoy her story. There was just something about her that grabbed my attention and wouldn't let go. It seems so long ago now since I first came across her story, and my interest in her story hasn't waned.

In many ways Lynnie is still the girl we met in Becoming, but she has changed so much and not just because she is Cu Sidhe... She has accepted that side of her, and has found a way for both parts of who she is to coexist. This part of Lynnie's story follows her as she comes to terms with who she is, what she has done and what she still needs to do. And Gilmore has done a fabulous job of portraying that.

Lynnie Russell has become the Cu Sidhe. She has learned to exist as vengeance. She has given up everything and everyone to go out into the world to do what she has been created to do. Puck has been her companion, teacher and lover. But Puck is also something else. When Lynnie doesn't heed the warning from Ariel, Puck uses Lynnie to go where is isn't allowed, the land of the fae. Lynnie is finally able to make it back to her world where she decides to visit home. Cu Sidhe is her legacy and she is determined that the next to inherit this "curse" has a teacher she can count on.

Great finish for an awesome series! This author has a way of getting the reader emotionally attached to all of the characters and so quickly. This is the last book of this series, but I hope she does a spin-off. It would be great to see how this story continues from where it left off. I must admit I'm quite sad to see the end of this trilogy and to see what fate has in store for Lynnie.

Just like the previous 2 installments, this is full of emotion as you see how much Lynnie has grown and accepted her fate, yet there is always a small part of her that is still the young girl we met in Becoming, before she became Cu Sidhe.

This will definitely be a trilogy I will pick up again in the future.

RM Gilmore NEVER disappoints! Her control of characters, their relationships and weaving them expertly in her amazing tales provides such fantastic reading.

Lynnie Russell 3: Ascension is set at a great pace, with a well-developed plot and is overall bloody brilliant! While I'm sad to see this series end, I enjoyed every moment of this NA read. The ending, while a bit of a shocker, was perfect.

Another fabulous read.

This series made me cry on more than one occasion. The third and final installment was no exception. The story is such a beautiful testament of love, loss, grief, and how to finally let go and move on. Ascension was a heartfelt and bittersweet end to a wonderful series. Bravo to the author!
