Approximately one-hundred-fifty years ago, the island Solace was created. This was the first of many attempts at free-floating manmade islands to successfully stay afloat in this flooding world. Resting in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, Solace was originally intended to act as a bridge or a checkpoint between the Americas and the East coast of Asia, as well as a universal trade station for all countries. Four years ago, my little brother went to Solace in search for work, after having been cut loose from his job as a translator here in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Missing his projected return date, I was left both busy calming our mother, telling her that Samuel hasn’t come back yet because he found work, or that he called and said he’s doing well and that he loved us, even though he had not; and worried that something dreadful had happened to my little brother. But now, two and a half years past the date he had planned to return, our mother is pleading for me to go find him.
