This book, detailing the life and times of one of the greatest tabi'een - Uwais Al Qarni i, is the first authoritative compilation of biographical anecdotes. Uwais Al Qarni's i life was characterised by striving along the path of self annihilation to reach the realm of the Divine. Uwais Al Qarni i , without ever having met Nabi Muhammad g in the physical realm, was dearly beloved to Nabi g because of his utmost sincerity and devotion. The deep persona of Uwais Al Qarni i, will always remain a mystery, but his status as one of the foremost Lovers of Allah is, as this book depicts, uncontested. This book is a humble effort to highlight the love and dedication of Uwais Al Qarnii to the path of spiritual enlightenment. The book serves as a point of reflection for us on our own journeys
Terjemahannya begitu baik sekali.
Moga hidup kita sentiasa diberkati.
This book makes me realised that there are many sufis and the tabi'in out there who are cloaked by Allah, hidden from the rest of the world but are of higher ranks than many of us. Alhamdulillah, praise to Allah for such beautifully written book to shed some light on the wali of Allah. A recommended read to anyone who had hard times understanding religious texts as this book uses simple languages instead of hard to decipher normal religious books.
Once upon a time, there was a man who travelled more than a thousand from Yemen to Madinah by feet with clad two tattered pieces of wool in pursuit of meeting Prophet Muhammad SAW.
He knocked on the door of the prophet's house and returned home as if the prophet was not just a few steps away at the adjacent mosque just because that person's promised to his mother that he will straight returned home if the prophet was not at his home. "Please convey my salam to my beloved SAW. Uwais al-Qarni has returned to Yemen, since he does not have permission from his mother to meet him in the mosque."
Despite his fervent enthusiasm and burning desire to meet the prophet, Uwais RA returned home empty-handedly.
That was the man who was honored as the best of the tabi'in (most superior gen after the prophet's companions).
There are lots I wish to share but as someone special by Allah's side, Uwais RA was gifted and lent extra special help from Allah that were mystical. I do believe in them as muslims should but I do not wish to take them out of context. Uwais RA is special in lot of ways more than what we often heard. He truly enjoyed his solitude and Allah's companion more than anything else. Even Umar RA requested for Uwais RA to make dua and give him advices.
His story reassured me that what matters is the state of myself in front of Allah SWT. His opinion of us is superior and as long as we focus on seeking Him, the rest will fall into their places. Hidden from public is a blessing when it pushed you closer to Him.
"Safety is in solitude. True solitude is that there is no room in the heart for thinking of others. Solitude in which the mind is occupied with the thoughts of others is defective."
"Never consider any sin as being minor. If you consider a sin as minor, know that you are considering Allah as being insignificant."
"How else can a person be if he wakes up in the morning with no guarantee of living until the end of the day?"
"When worshipping Him, do not think of anything else but Him!"
"Keep watch over the heart."
Obedient to his mother. Kept his promise to his mother.
Introduction dengan foreword dah panjang, berbelas - belas.
Sayyidina Umar R.A indicated that, without attaining this (fruitful lessons from the life of Uwais Al-Qarni), life has no purpose, ceasing to exist would rather be better if one's life is void of the lessons presented to us via the lifestyle of Uwais Al-Qarni.
Reading this biography makes me ponder upon my responsibilities as a Muslim and as someone who said to love Allah and his Prophet, to submit all my egos and nafsu for Him. Why do I always care for others' judgement and neglect how Allah would view me as His servant? Do people matter to me even more than Him SWT? What should I do to change, to live up to my name?
Therefore, this book is a great help for Muslims to make reflections. Although there are a few concepts that I lack comprehension of and require further explanation, I still believe that this book should be on the shelf of every Muslim.
May Allah ﷻ reward Mawlana Uwais Ahmad Qaderi abundantly for compiling and writing this book. It helps to re-attune the heart towards what truly matters: Allah ﷻ. The Life of Uwais al Qarni رضي الله عنه is indeed something that everyone who wishes to be on the path, need to study sincerely.
This is indeed a very sincere writing that I have ever read throughout my life; changing how one perceive hardship and sickness, and become truly and sincerely content with everything that Allah ﷻ has decreed for us.
inspiring Islamic figure who has strong iman and beautiful akhlaq. I'm sobbing reading some part of this life. A great reminder that didn't get a chance to meet Prophet Muhammad PBUH is not an excuse to put less effort in Deen.
The author of this book was right in claiming that it is the first full account written on Uwais al-Qarni r.a., aimed at current generation.
I did an in-depth reading of this book, since it was needful as part of its translation process—if Allah permits, and may He fulfils it; I hope for an association with this greatest personality among the tabi'in through the translation, as part of my good deeds. Amin.
Since the introduction, the book has moved me so, that I was always on the brink of tears reading about Uwais' poverty and humility, and his love toward the Prophet s.a.w. and his mother.
Upon finishing this book, I revisited many aspects of my faith, and considering how Sayidina 'Umar himself exclaimed that it is better for him not to be born, and instead his mother is barren! after meeting Uwais al-Qarni r.a., I know it is beyond hope for me but to regale in the beauty of his iman. I consider myself lucky enough to know of his existence. May Allah forgive us, and forgive all the believers.
