I wanted to love this, but it just fell flat for me. There really wasn’t any character growth or development. From a plot perspective, the book was just one long side quest through the woods, and it was slow and repetitive.
Rose’s character took a turn, and she was a bit infuriating. At times, her inner monologue just exuded so much arrogance and self importance, and I just got frustrated because her line of thinking didn’t evolve. I was also so disappointed with Kyor. I think this book would have been much better if it had his POV in it. His character lacked depth, and it would’ve been more satisfying to understand him through his own eyes.
There was also no growth in Kyor and Rose’s relationship. They do not trust each other fully, and there was no development to mend their relationship and build trust on a deeper level. They never once had a serious or mature conversation, and their relationship felt shallow. I’m hoping this changes in book 3, but their romance was so immature and just didn’t hit the same for me as the first book.
The side characters were incredible though. I adore Benny, Ruben, and Caz. Their banter was so funny, and they were for sure the highlight of this book. They are true friends and are an incredible example of what healthy friendships should look like.
The plot twist and cliffhanger at the ending was predictable but so good, so I’m hoping I enjoy book 3 more! I think this book just suffered from middle book syndrome.

3.5⭐️ I kept waiting for this book to hit its stride…and unfortunately, it waited until the last chapter to do it. 😅
The entire book felt like one long side quest. I spent hundreds of pages waiting for Rose to finally find help with her magic, and just when I thought, “Okay, NOW we’re getting somewhere!”…the book ended. Talk about making me work for a payoff. Also, can fantasy authors please find plot besides running through the woods and climbing mountains while trying not to die? I swear every other book lately is just people sprinting through forests, dodging death, stopping to camp, then doing it all over again.
And Kay…girl. 🙄 For someone who has had absolutely nothing, she sure became stuck up in a hurry. Every time she showed up, I was hoping she’d surprise me and become likable. She never accepted the assignment.
Now, it wasn’t all bad! The dire wolves absolutely stole the show for me. Give me more giant, loyal murder puppies any day of the week. And, of course, the love triangle between Kyor, Rose, and Ruben kept things entertaining. Nothing spices up a fantasy book quite like two men fighting over the same woman. I was fully invested every time those three shared a scene.
The ending finally gave me the excitement I’d been waiting for all book, but it came way too late. There are some interesting ideas here, and I’ll probably pick up the next book because apparently I enjoy torturing myself with cliffhangers. 😂 I’m just hoping the sequel skips the 300-page cardio workout and gets to the good stuff a little faster.

YESSS I AM OBSESSED WITH THIS SERIES. KEEP IT COMING. It really makes me so sad that all the books aren’t out yet because this would be such a good series to binge. Another book is coming out in October though so I cannot complain much!
This was super fun and action packed. The first book had trials, a slow burn romance, and a lot of twists. This book offers a quest, more lovable characters (+ wolves) and a second chance romance. I did not think it could get better BUT IT DID!!! And I am obsessed with these new additions to the group. Fen has my whole heart.

Okay so apparently I just don't have the ability to NOT love an Aria Ashbrook book?? Channel your inner Benny and GRAB YOU POPCORN IMMEDIATELY. This is an epic quest romantasy with bonded direwolves, a possessive (jealous!) MMC, sibling bonds, and THE funniest found family and banter I've read. I giggled and was simultaneously emotionally damaged.
Rose remains one of my favourite FMCs of all time and this book only cemented that. She is so headstrong and intelligent, and not oblivious! I loved how she never took anything at face value, questioned everything and worked through problems rationally. She's also realistically portrayed in how she heals and recover from the events occurring in Book 1. She is willing to do ANYTHING to save her sister and protect her family. Her selflessness is heart-wrenching.
The writing was so detailed and palpable that I was able to envision the world, the beasts, the movements in the fight (as if I was watching a Netflix film) - seriously, this book needs a screen adaptation.
Romance
The push and pull between Rose and Kyor was a pleasured to read. There was emotional damage, there was realistically portrayed relationships where they communicated.
The Found Family
THE FOUND FAMILY was one of the best parts of the book. Benny and Ruben are both so funny! I loved every single side character — and the diverse cast made the book so well rounded. I was never bored. Every character had depth and was multifaceted. You understand what it means to survive in a world like this, through every single one of them, not just Rose.
The Epic Quest
The stakes got SO much higher in this one. What started as a more contained story has become a full epic quest, with so many beasts along the way. The
The Banter
The side characters are funnier than they have any right to be given the circumstances, and the banter between Rose and Kyor was so fun and entertaining. The love triangle drama was also SO entertaining to read.
Audiobook
Anthony Palmini and Amanda Leigh Cobb delivered the duet narration audiobook beautifully! They did different accents, and voices for each character (honestly, this was a film in my MIND). Immersively reading this is a MUST. It is a 5 star audiobook, so please experiencing this one in audio.

Again good story, but Rose (FMC) still drives me nuts with her bipolar actions towards Kyor (MMC). Good grief girl, make up your mind and stick with it!! The whole “He betrayed me, but he’s just soo hawwwtttt” lip licking gets downright disgusting - especially when she is carrying just as many secrets as he is. Plus, this journey felt a bit dragged out. I was really looking forward to her experiences with the Issen and her abilities, but the entire book is just them plodding toward it. That being said, however, there is action and intrigue interspersed. So, the story is still engaging enough to want to continue.

I don't say this lightly... but after reading book two, I can confirm... if you miss the world of Throne of Glass, I might have found something to ease that ache.
The betrayal. The heartbreak. The devastatingly romantic pain. What the hell did l just read?!
Shattered hearts... broken beyond repair... and then there's me... giddy, giggling, sitting at the edge of my seat with popcorn in hand.
Bring on the devastation.
There is an overwhelming, almost euphoric joy that comes from realizing the second book in a series is somehow even better than the first.
You finish book one and think, holy shit... where do we even go from here?
And what I loved about this book is that you already know these characters. You've fallen in love with them. You've built a connection with them... only for an entirely new journey to begin.
The excitement. The discovery. The sheer joy I felt along the way took my breath away.
Books that take place on an epic journey? Inject that directly into my veins. The second they saddled up onto their horses and took off I was hooting and hollering like a crazy person.
This book has magic, royalty, politics, secrets, tension, dire wolves, monsters, death, yearning... did mention secrets? Because they are coming at you from every direction. And the tension isn't just romantic... the tension in the world itself will have you literally screaming at the pages.
The world building is phenomenal. The magic is intricate. The details of this world...how it continues to grow and expand, the people, the history, the lore... I'm honestly speechless.
This book is impossible choice after impossible choice.
It's stubborn characters. It's growth. It's watching people be pushed to their limits and discovering what they're truly capable of.
And then there's the found family.
This is genuinely one of my favorite ensemble casts of all time. My heart is right there alongside these characters. Every time I had to close the book and return to real life, I felt this ache in my chest because I missed my friends.
"Dreams are dangerous things. Not because they may never come true, but because they might. And if they do, you'll look around, knowing you finally have everything you've ever hoped for, and realize it has fixed precisely nothing. I realize now that chasing dreams is the way to an empty life. All you ever really have is the moment you are in."
This is how you write a sequel.

I’m gonna say something probably unpopular but this series is only worth the read via audio🙃these 2 narrators are pros for a reason. My personal dream team of Palmini & Cobb + in duet style, make this book a breeze. Otherwise this is just another generic-stretched over too many books-filler fest of almost 600 pages-fun romantasy time. There is not an original thought present & yet I ate this up😂because these narrators make it.
We pick up right where we left off; & it’s with plot twist after plot twist all in the beginning. Rose continues to get on my last nerve yet her character arc just gets better & better. Like, she means well but I can’t help but get (at the drop of a hat too) undertones of that haughtiness as well as childishness from her. But I get it, this girl can’t catch a break yet she’s resilient & manages to find ways for growth.
& don’t get me started on her magic! Like we get it already: she’s the bestest mostest powerful to ever ever ever. but can these authors actually have her powers make a lick of sense instead of just throwing every power that comes to mind at the wall & seeing if it sticks.
The modern language & all the different modern elements continue to be so utterly cringe but contributes to the vibes I guess. (The term “mansplain” is used so enough said)
The side characters all IMO continue to overshadow the FMC greatly by bringing so much vibrancy to her exhausting presence. Benny is still my favorite. I love the sibling dynamic of Rose & Kay so much. Their relationship continues to exemplify the perfect example of what it’s like for the older sister to become the parent. & the way it’s shown what it’s like having to raise this dumb AF teenager is perfection.
I knew as soon as I finished the novella that we’re going into a love triangle but honestly? I love the addition of Ruben. (Benny even says “Oh good another love triangle” I can’t. he’s just awesome😂) & the bromance between Ruben & Kyor is so unexpectedly charming. Kyor is still an alpha male but in the best way. His dynamic with Rose continues to be electric. But I will say, they are both such hypocrites. They both harbor secrets & yet expect better from the other person. Which, come to think of it, is probably how unhealthy relationship dynamics work huh🤔🥲
That cliffhanger? So good! Listen, I have a feeling this series is gonna feel long & drawn out but at least it’s entertaining 🤷♀️

I’m really loving this series! I didn’t love Vows of Blood and Deception as much as I loved Web of Vows and Vengeance, but I’m still 100% invested in Rose and Kyor.. heavy on Kyor 🔥👀

Set directly after the end of the first book, this sequel follows Rose as she continues her journey to master her magic and oh, does it deliver!
Kyor remains my undisputed book boyfriend number one. And yes, he is still complicated. Groomed and abused by a tyrannical father and burdened with secrets he cannot share, to me he is one of the strongest parts of the story. Rose also shows noticeable growth, acknowledging her own selfishness while keeping secrets of her own, yet remaining fiercely protective of her friends and family.
The supporting cast shines as well. Fen, the sarcastic direwolf, instantly became a favourite, and I was delighted to finally get more page time with Elska. As for Kay and Jonas… let’s just say I’ll politely move on. Instead, give me more Ruben, Benny, and Caz…I absolutely love that trio.
This second book is at least on par with the first. I even did my first immersive read, and I was completely blown away. Anthony Palmini can do no wrong in my eyes, and Amanda Leigh Cobb was the perfect partner for this duet narration. Their performances brought the characters and emotions vividly to life.
And then there is that ending. Not as devastating as book one, but a relapse nonetheless. Still recovering from Cliffhanger’s disease!

I have been obsessed with this series. I’m so happy it will be completed this year. THIS is everything that I love about Romantasy. The first book gave us trials, and the second gave us a quest. I LOVE these characters so much. There are so many Romantasy tropes in here, but it works. I have been let down by book twos in series this year, but this one hit.

Okay so the entire book is a trip 😭 It felt boring at times to me. I preferred much more the beginning of the book, where we had the drama and the tension going.
The rest of it was just the trip to the next place where the third book will take place. There was no advance in the MMC and FMC's relationship at all, we get the FMC bonded to a dire wolf who is the mate of the MMC's dire wolf 🥴 and we still don't know what's going on with the prince.
Of course the misunderstanding and betrayal of the first book is solved by throwing a 'magic potion' with 'fake feelings' into it, and it goes away immediately.
It felt kind of disappointing compared to the first book, and more like a filler book. But we'll see what the third one has to offer.

this book started a little slow in the beginning, but then it was non-stop chaos for the majority of the book. can i breathe for two seconds? i guess that was too much to ask for.
while i enjoyed this book, there are a few things i think could’ve been done differently. there was a lot of info dumping with constantly introducing new magic, creatures, etc. at times i was really wishing we’d slow down because it was hard to keep up. i love good world building, but we gotta slowly introduce things pls!
rose is a good fmc, and i can see where she’s coming from, but for nearly the entire book she was so insistent on being mad at kyor and not trying to understand his reasoning, which made me a little upset for him because that’s my shayla fr. we learn more about his backstory, so i wish she’d been a little more understanding toward him.
the side characters definitely shined in this book. benny and ruben ilysm!!! i definitely think this series needs to turn into multi pov at some point so we can really enjoy all the side romances they’re setting up.
ruben giving everyone hugs (especially kyor) had me giggling. also, benny and his triangle were very much giving the peace sign from za, which was so hilarious.
i now have about twenty new questions, so if they could be answered as soon as possible, that would be great!

I actually preferred this one to the last; it was much more structured, interesting, it had more lore and felt more mature, and the character development was on point. A very fun read. 4.25 stars. ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ✨

4.5 Alright I’m ALL IN. This series started off strong and has just continued to get better and better every chapter!! The cliffhanger makes me so excited to see what’s next without making me enraged that I don’t have the next book in my hands already. I will be not so patiently waiting for the next, hoping the audio comes out at the same time as physical so I can keep listening to the beautiful duet

Finally a second book in the series that didn’t let me down! This series continues to keep its readers entertained and hook from the start. I love how fast moving the book is. It has everything I am looking for in a Romantasy. This series has all the magic I am looking for as well as the ability to make me laugh. I cackled every single time Kyor was called “dog boy” 😂
The found family in this book is just my favorite. Throughout the book I was so invested in the characters and worried I would lose one! This book also has some second chance romance in it with so much tension. 🔥

A lot of yearning and a lot of filler. They spent the entire book traveling. Most of the time it was Kyot and Rose talking about trust and lying to each other. Then it was them walking away from each other. I swear Rose has every freaking type of magic there is. And the ending… it wasn’t even a plot twist. On the frozen lake when her ice power awoken, he called her daughter. So you had to assume that she was someone important. The only shocking part was Fen. That was the best part and I love their back and forth banter. Will I read the next book? Yes, because I want to see how this series ends.

Amanda is the perfect Rose, a strong bad ass who is still stubborn and carrying so much. Anthony brings us the best jealous, smooth and broody dark prince we all love. They truly knocked it out of the park. 10/10!

If you all remember the ending of book 1 like I do (the betrayal I literally GASPED about), I had to know what happened next IMMEDIATELY. Thankfully, Vows of Blood and Deception jumps right in where we left off! Rose tries to find her new “normal” while unraveling secrets left and right about her family.
Without giving too much away: Rose embarks on a journey with her friends, and Kyor tries to help and regain her trust along the way. They encounter various surprises that will have you binging through to find out what happens next! And the ending? Boy, are you all in for a real ride! 😏
Rose and Kyor’s chemistry is HOT! 🔥 The push and pull between them is addicting, and Kyor is so swoonworthy 😍 We even get to see his jealous side really kick in! 🤭
The pacing of the story fluctuated at times, and there were A LOT of revelations that sometimes felt like we were losing the balance a bit. However, it was still enjoyable overall.
I cannot wait for the next book in this series! Literally counting down the days 🧎♀️

Overall, this is a fun time. Definitely has core romantasy vibes and reminds me a lot of Fourth Wing especially toward the end. The pacing never slows down and there is action after action scene that kept my interest. The found family is good, the romance is there enough, the world is expanding, and I enjoyed reading this! We even get to see more dire wolf interaction. Is it the most unique storyline ever? No, but a cutesy vibes read for sure.
There are some things that knock it down from being a four star good time for me. Sometimes the language is formal and then it switches to really informal in the next sentence and it would make sense if it was someone not royal talking to royalty but it’s not, it’s random. For example, a sentence would say “They do not follow” instead of “they aren’t following us” (these are not direct quotes, just examples of types of phrasing) and then the next time that same character switches to the more informal-feeling phrasing. I wish it just kept the informal phrasing the whole way through. I didn’t love that arguments/feelings get brushed past without a conversation to work through it through the whole book. Our main characters talk about how they are adults, so they should be able to have adult conversations. Our main mission this book sets out to achieve has no progress. We’re on a journey to get somewhere the whole time. Some of the character interaction did feel sort of cheesy as well.
For the vibes, this was a great entry level romantasy that is easy to understand and keeps things moving. If you’re looking for a unique plot, this wasn’t really it. Howeverrr, I did enjoy this a lot and it flew by. I will be reading the next book, the ending was getting to the good part so I’m very hopeful!!!

5/5 my God they did it again! We pick up right where we left off, with Rose having won her blessing from Etta and has everything she every wanted, right?....right? RIGHT? Wrong. With Kyor on her Sh*t list and her sister not talking to her because of her own marital drama, Rose is utterly alone, in a giant empty house, after almost getting herself killed in the Retterling to get her sister and her out of the slums and restore honor to her family name. Rose also has a new secret to uncover, and a new kind of magic, one with deadly consequences. Secrets are revealed and Rose learns of a devastating family secret, one that will change her life forever. Desperate for answers and a solution to her current situation, Rose heads to meet with those who she believes can help her sort through this mess. The only issue is that getting there, may just be one of the deadliest trips she could make. But if anyone can make it, it's the chosen one and her crew of loveable hooligans.
During this trip we get to know some of our minor characters from book one, as well as Ruben, Rose's Friends with Benefits, from the Veil of Web and Ruin. We also meet back up with Benny and of course, Kyor's along for the trip because, of course who wouldn't want your ex along for the fun. Honestly 4.25
I was really hesitant to start this series because I’d been seeing it everywhere on my feed, and usually when that happens, I start wondering how much of the hype is real and how much is influencer marketing. But I have to admit: this series was appropriately hyped. And honestly? At this point, I don’t think enough people are still talking about it.
Book one was good. Book two was BETTER!! Which obviously means I’m now expecting book three to completely blow it out of the water.
The pacing in this one was quick. Within the first few chapters, we were moving, and it really didn’t let up from there. I’d say the biggest trope is epic journey, but we also get one bed, one horse, you know, all the classic romantasy goodies.
But where this book really got me was the deception, the secrets, and especially the found family. Found family + epic journey is basically a direct line to my heart, so I really had no chance here and I ate this up.
I also love how approachable the writing and world building are. As new pieces of information are dropped, they’re easy to understand without feeling overly simplified. Even when we start getting deeper into the lore and the bigger picture of the world, it never feels overwhelming. The dots connect really beautifully, and everything feels like it’s building toward something.
Are some of the reveals a little duh? Absolutely 😂 It’s that classic romantasy moment where you’re like, Yes, babe, we figured this out 100 pages ago. But I genuinely didn’t care because I was having such a good time with these characters.
And somehow I already have theories about what’s going to happen in book three, which is saying A LOT because I rarely get invested enough in a series to start theorizing.
I love these characters, I’m completely invested in where this story is going, and I’m seriously impressed with this series.

I am so enthralled by this world and these characters but I'm equally frustrated with how slowly the story is unfolding. I would have loved if it was faster paced. The romance was much better overall in this one but don't expect a burn the world for each other relationship because it isn't there at this point. But this book does have some of the best jealousy scenes I've ever read. So fun!

4.5 ⭐️ These escalation and progression of this story is incredible. A deadly high stakes adventure will always keep me throroughly entertained and wanting more. Found family is always an amazing touch especially on an adventure. I like the new characters we get in the story plus the development of existing characters. There were definitely moments when I was annoyed, happy, sad, giddy, and of course angry. Half a star was deducted because Rose was a tad irritating. If it had to do with Kyor she was annoying me. The "oh I can't be with him but my inner monologue wants to bone hime every time I think about him" was a little much. Other than that I really enjoyed the expansion of the world and different magical abilities.
