Timed to the 75th anniversary of Disney’s enduring classic Alice in Wonderland, this young adult sequel follows teenaged Alice on a curious new adventure down the rabbit hole, many years after her first visit to Wonderland.
Now eighteen, Alice feels much more comfortable spending her days in Wonderland than in the “real” world. After all, no one in Wonderland will judge you for being strange! But things in Wonderland have seemed off lately, especially when Alice encounters another teen, and then another . . . both of whom also claim to be named Alice.
Before long, card soldiers capture all three Alices, and they are taken to the Queen of Hearts’ castle, where a strange truth is it has been prophesied that a “blue Alice” would one day save Wonderland from terrible peril. Ever since, the White Rabbit has been opening portals to Wonderland for children dressed in blue named Alice. And now, the foretold danger has three terrifying dragons have appeared in Wonderland, from the worlds beyond the doors in Doorknob’s hallway.
The Queen declares that the Alice who can save Wonderland will be named “The Alice” . . . and the others will be cast out, never allowed to return. So Alice sets out on a quest to save the land she loves, meeting new friends and enemies along the way, including a strange boy who she isn’t sure she can trust. Is Alice truly “The Alice,” or is she just a footnote in someone else’s story?
I'm the author of books for adults and children, including Emily Wilde's Encyclopaedia of Faeries, Even the Darkest Stars, Ember and the Ice Dragons, The School Between Winter and Fairyland, and more.
I'm only occasionally on Goodreads, so if you want a more reliable way to get in contact with me, I'd recommend using social media (I'm on Instagram and Facebook) or the contact form on my website.
Review policy: I only review books that I love, which is why you'll only see 4 and 5 star reviews here. Because readers often ask me about my favourite books and authors, I'm aiming to use this page as a place to collect all of my recommendations.
Also, I am NOT the author of More Than a Mom: Living a Full And Balanced Life When Your Child Has Special Needs. I've asked Goodreads to remove it from my page several times but it keeps getting re-added. If you have questions about this title, please direct them to the other Heather Fawcett!
-dark but cozy sequel to the 1951 Disney film -a travelling tea shop -a monstrous love interest (can you guess which monster?) -numerous hedgehog side characters
Heather Fawcett and Alice in Wonderland? I'm gonna eat this up
*i got this from working at a barnes and noble!!!! <33
if you love alice in wonderland like i do, you’d definitely love this book. it’s so magical and captivating, i flew through it. it follows an 18 year old alice, and the white queens prophecy that says there is one “the alice”, and how there are many different alice’s who will want to achieve this title.
it reminded me of the live action alice in wonderland, which i absolutely adore!!
This book captures the whimsy of Wonderland perfectly, but Heather also infuses it with this twisted, dark nature that underlies Wonderland and makes it such a captivating world for me. I loved the characters in this book and think she did such a great job writing the familiar characters we know and love while putting her own spin on them. I had so much fun reading this. Thanks to Penguin Random House/Disney for the bookseller ARC.
Review of an advanced copy of the novel provided to me as a bookseller.

Adored every second of this Wondrous adventure. Perfectly dark, cozy, and whimsical all wrapped up in one that truly feels like a return to Wonderland.
