A spicy, paranormal romantasy in an enchanted small town
Jasmira Groves is a widow, mother, and proud owner of The Honeybee Café in the enchanted town of Everly Hollow. Life is finally steady and she's ready to open her heart again...even though the dating world is a dumpster fire.
Dominik Wilcott has always been there for her. He's tall, dark, and devastatingly handsome. He owns the town flower shop and yes, he's a werewolf. He’s also her closest friend, her daughter’s godfather, and her late husband’s best friend. So no, she's never looked at him as anything more.
At least, not until the Blood Rose Moon rises. His wolf turns possessive. Always watching and... hungry. Suddenly, the way he looks at her, the way he touches her, feels different. The moon pulls at her heart, weaving desire and fate together until pretending becomes impossible.
Does she protect the life she rebuilt or risk everything for a love written in the stars?
Because once the bond begins, there’s no unfeeling it. There's no turning back. And she's not sure friendship will ever be enough again.

Ok.... so this amazing friends to lovers romance has it all! It's set in the magical town of Everly Hollow. This particular couple is Dom- a werewolf and Jas- a human. Their story is one of incredible loss, friendship that supports & withstands the loss, followed by a love that was destined by the goddesses.
The slow burn is excellent..... completely perfect. The yearning..... OH MY GOODNESS! And then the spice..... lord have mercy, I need a cold shower!
You do not have to read this indie authors first book, The Autumn Leaf Bookshop, first to enjoy this one... but they are interconnected- and the first one is just as sweet!
I am honored to be on Kay Michaels ARC team, and I strongly encourage you to snag this magical romance as soon as it releases in April, 2026.
Ahhh, I just finished this one and I’m wrapped up in all the cozy, heart melting feels 🐝💛✨ If you love a soft, magical romance with depth, this one is SUCH a treat.
Here are a few tropes you’ll find inside: 🌙 Young widow 🌙 Single mom 🌙 Friends to lovers 🌙 Werewolf magic 🌙 Cozy small-town vibes
I absolutely adored Dominik and Jasmira 😭💖 Dom is the definition of patient, steady, and quietly devoted. Watching him care for both Jas and Seren just made my heart melt. And Jas… her journey through grief felt so real and tender. I really feel every step of her healing. And listen, this is a sloooooooooow burn 🔥 in the BEST possible way. The kind that builds and builds until you’re completely invested. Their romance unfolds so naturally, with just the perfect touch of spice 🌶️✨
This book was good and even though there was spice in this book i would really recoment this book if you like cozy small town romance with a friends to lovers trope.
This book was about finding love again after loss. It was about finding one self again and to heal.
I liked this book very mush. it was a fast read and i loved the plot. about finding love again after losing a partner. how hard it can be to heal from that and bieng a single mother at the same time. I loved the relationship between Jas and Dom. they go from friends to more but in a healthy way.
After reading the emotional roller coaster of Bonds, I needed something a little lighter. However, this one wasnt as light as I thought. But Omg it was so cute!! Jas and her daughter went through it and I felt so bad for them. Jas especially struggled after Aaryn passed away. Im happy with how the author handled grief and finding new love afterwards. Dominik and Jas weren't pushed into a relationship right away. Their love grew. It was quiet and constant. Each had the chance to get to know the other but also learn how to let go of the past. To come to terms with their own grief. It was a very sweet story and exactly what I needed
Loved, loved, loved the story of Jasmira and Dominik. It was a slow burn for sure (which I think I like) but when we got there, it was fantastic! Jas and her daughter, Seren always had Dom In their lives and when Jas’s husband Aaryn passed away, Dom stepped up to the plate and made sure they were taken care of just like his best friend asked of him before he died. But… there were some feelings…
I don’t want to spoil the book for anyone but I suggest taking this one for a spin. It’s a sweet love story that happens to have some spice and werewolves and other mystical beings in it and YOU may think you aren’t into this kind of book, but you just may be wrong. It’s a great read and you will fall for all the characters, I promise.
I think The Honeybee Cafe could be read as a standalone but if I were you, I highly suggest reading Ms. Michael’s first book of this series, The Autumn Leaf Book Shop. It had this thriller lovin’ girl HOOKED!
Thank you, Kay Michaels for allowing me to read this before Pub Day. You knew I just couldn’t wait!
I have the greatest honor to be part of the arc team and getting to read this beautiful story and going along with this journey of the story coming to life. It is truly a heartfelt and a great moment of showing you can still find love again after losing someone so close to your heart. And not me being over here, crying with tears of joy that I had the wonderful opportunity of this amazing author getting to know her and finally again in love with this amazing story This truely a Five stars read!!!!
What a great read. I love that there was a playlist, chapter titles and a pronunciation guide! Those are signed for me that this will be an engaging read, that leaves me wanting more. And this book delivered!
This is the second in the series, I have not read the first ( but will be now, let me tell ya) and I don’t feel as though I missed anything by jumping into this book first. A great rom - com peppered with fantasy and a little spice 🌶️🌶️
Fate has a way of completing a full circle of love, heartbreak and love again. Dom and Jas have an established friendship that Moiraya turned into destined mates. Seren, Jas' daughter, was the icing on the cake for this story.
⭐️ well developed and executed slow burn ⭐️friends to fated mates ⭐️paranormal fantasy werewolf that knots ⭐️possessive MMC that is understanding of the FMC need for time 🌶🌶🌶
I was provided a copy of this book from the author and this is my honest review.
✨Fated mates ✨Found Family ✨Friends to lovers ✨Single mom ⚠️Grief/ loss of spouse
Have you ever wondered what it would be like to live in a community where vampires, faes, werewolves, gnomes, gargoyles and many other types of folklore beings cohabit?🧚♀️ This was so fun to live in such a colorful community through reading ✨
Even though there are many mystical being, this is more of a cozy romance than a fantasy book, so don't dive in expecting an adventurous story! 🩷
Grief was so beautifully written and I loved that we got to experience it through the deceased spouse, best friend and parents. It felt raw and real and healing? ❤️🩹 I'm grateful the author shared her story with us in this unique and beautiful way.
“I’m not crying, you’re crying!” But seriously this book made me bawl like a big ol baby. From the moment I started reading, I immediately fell in love with Jas and Dom.
Jas a widow and single-mother is ready to find love. Dominik, a werewolf and the best friend to Jas’ late husband, unexpectedly finds out he is mated to Jas.
The emotional struggle both feel, is raw and really made me as the reader feel like I was there living those emotions. This book is witty, sweet, spicy, and romantic. An instant 5 star for me!
I absolutely adored this book. The small town of Everly Hollow is fully realised and fleshed out so well, Jas & Dom's story had me hooked, its had me laughing, crying and blushing.
The heartache and guilt of loss was beautifully written, you really feel for these characters and routing for them.
This book is charming and cosy and a sprinkled with a little spice.
A wonderful read, I cant wait to see more of this magical little town
ARC REVIEW I loved loveddddd this book! It was a slow burn, which I usually don’t enjoy, but this one was it for me! It’s in a small town with friends to lovers vibes! It had the perfect amount of Romantasy! Dominik is such a patient, loving man who steps in when he doesn’t have to for Jas and her daughter! I really enjoyed this book!
Omg this was so cute!! I love this little cozy fantasy romance series. 4.25 stars excited for the next one ❤️❤️ was giggling and kicking me feet with this one. 😊😊
I love this series! Love the cozy small town vibes plus the fact that most of the characters are some kind of magical being! Some tough subjects in this one but the author handled it all beautifully and it was a great story! Thanks for the ARC Kay Michaels!
There are books that entertain you for a season… and then there are books that quietly settle into your heart and stay.
The Honeybee Café is one of those.
From the very first pages, I found myself emotional, not because of a dramatic plot point, but because of the honesty woven into the story. Even the author’s note felt personal, like being gently invited into something meaningful. And from that moment on, I was all in.
Set in the enchanted town of Everly Hollow, this story follows Jasmira Groves—a widow, a mother, and the owner of a café that feels as warm and comforting as the story itself. Her life has found a sense of rhythm again, but stepping back into love is an entirely different kind of vulnerability. Not just for her, but for her child as well.
That aspect of the story hit me deeper than I expected.
There is a quiet truth here about what it means to love again after loss and how it’s not about replacing what once was, but allowing something new to exist alongside it. Different. Honest. Earned. And sometimes, a little terrifying.
There’s a line early on that stayed with me, even when my brain wanted to rewrite it slightly. Where the word “love” almost felt like it could be “hope.” And maybe that’s what this story truly explores—the courage to hope again when you’ve already known what it means to lose.
The relationship at the center of this book unfolds slowly, and I appreciated that. Nothing feels rushed. Every interaction carries history, weight, and a sense of familiarity that makes the emotional tension feel real. It’s not just about attraction, it’s about trust, timing, and the complicated nature of shifting something that has always felt safe into something unknown.
And then… there is the atmosphere.
This may be one of the most immersive small-town settings I’ve read in a long time. The Honeybee Café, the Moon Lily Flower Shop, the Sugarplum Bakery—each place feels alive. You can almost smell the coffee, feel the rain in the air, and hear the quiet hum of a town that holds both magic and memory within it.
The magical elements are present, but they never overwhelm the story. Instead, they enhance it. They feel like a natural extension of the world, subtle, symbolic, and beautifully woven in. The description of creatures like the ketahnsi, representing wisdom and transformation, adds another layer to an already emotionally rich narrative.
And while this is a romance, it doesn’t exist in isolation. The friendships, the community, the sense of belonging—they all matter just as much. There’s a strong thread of sisterhood throughout the story that adds depth and balance, reminding us that love comes in many forms.
I also want to mention the spice, and I was pleasantly surprised by how well it was handled. Yes, there is intensity. Yes, there is passion. But it is grounded in emotional connection, not just physical chemistry, which made it feel purposeful rather than overwhelming.
If anything, this book left me wanting more—not because it was lacking, but because the world is so rich and the characters so layered that it feels like there are many more stories waiting to be told. I would happily return to this town again and again.
This story is about healing. About timing. About the quiet bravery it takes to open your heart again.
And most of all… It’s about understanding that love, when it returns, may not look the same—but that doesn’t make it any less meaningful.
The Honeybee Café (Everly Hollow #2) — Kay Michael
This was one of the most beautiful, heartfelt stories I’ve read in a long time
We follow Jas, a widowed mother running the Honeybee Café in the enchanted town of Everly Hollow, and her best friend Dom… and their story absolutely wrecked me (in the best way).
This isn’t just a romance—it’s a story about grief, healing, and learning how to live again after losing someone you loved deeply. Watching Jas navigate heartbreak, raise her daughter, run her café, and still somehow keep going? She’s genuinely such a strong, incredible character. I loved her so much.
And Dom (swoon) A wolf shifter, fiercely protective, endlessly patient, and just so full of love. Their relationship is everything. Best friends who have both lost someone important, slowly finding their way back to each other… the emotional depth of that?? I was gone.
What I really loved is that this story never tries to erase Jas’s late husband. He is still present in their lives in such a meaningful way, and both Jas and Dom honor the love and promises that were made to him. It’s not about replacing that love—it’s about growing around it, carrying it forward, and finding space for something new without letting go of what came before. That was handled so beautifully.
But one of my favorite parts was watching Jas’s daughter grow up with Dom—not just as her mom’s best friend, but slowly trusting him, opening up to him, and seeing him as a father figure. That development was so soft and meaningful and honestly hit just as hard as the romance.
Their journey from grief to something new felt so natural and so earned. The bond between them is already strong, but watching it shift, grow, and become something deeper was just… beautiful. There’s so much care in how their relationship is written.
AND the spice?? 👀🔥 I was NOT prepared. This book took me for an emotional rollercoaster — one chapter I’m giggling and kicking my feet, the next I’m fully heartbroken, and then suddenly we’re in a very steamy scene??
Also… my first knotting experience (Kay… I see you 👀) and I can confirm I fully understand the hype now - I lived for it.
I also loved how this connects to The Autumn Leaf Bookshop without requiring you to have read it first. It’s the same world, with little familiar touches, but this story stands completely on its own.
And the ending… I LOVED how Kay wrapped this up. I felt genuinely complete finishing this book. There are stories that leave you desperate for more (and Kay… you already know I need a book for every single character in Everly Hollow 👀), but this felt like the perfect close to their story.
And Kay Michael?? Truly one of the kindest, most genuine authors I’ve ever had the pleasure of interacting with 🖤 I feel so lucky that her stories were my first reads on both my Kindle and my Kobo—it honestly feels special.
This book is soft, emotional, magical, and full of heart… but also spicy in the best way. If you love cozy fantasy with real emotional weight, beautiful relationships, and a little bit of heat 🔥 this is absolutely one to pick up ✨
Review: The Honeybee Café The Honeybee Café is a warm, emotionally rich story that blends themes of love, loss, and second chances into a comforting, heartfelt read. From the very first pages, the café itself feels like a sanctuary—full of charm, healing energy, and the quiet magic of starting over. At the center of the story is Jasmira, a woman learning how to live again after deep loss. Her journey is written with sensitivity and authenticity, making her struggles and growth feel real and relatable. When Dominic enters her life, their connection unfolds in a way that feels natural rather than rushed—built on shared pain, understanding, and hope. Jasmira’s grief feels so real it almost sits beside you while you read. You don’t just understand her pain—you feel it. The loneliness, the memories, the struggle to even imagine a future after loss… it’s written with such tenderness that it lingers long after you put the book down.
What makes this book stand out is its emotional depth. It doesn’t shy away from grief, but instead shows how healing can come in small, meaningful moments—through community, routine, and unexpected love. The café setting adds an extra layer of comfort, almost becoming a character itself, symbolizing warmth, renewal, and connection. The pacing is gentle, making it a perfect “slow read” for anyone who enjoys character-driven stories. While it may not be packed with dramatic twists, its strength lies in the emotional journey and the sincerity of its characters
And then there’s Dominic. Not a whirlwind romance, not some perfect, unrealistic hero—but someone who carries his own scars. Their connection isn’t loud or instant. It’s fragile. Careful. Built in the quiet spaces where two broken hearts slowly learn how to beat again.
The café itself feels like a refuge—a place where healing happens in small, almost invisible ways. In shared coffee, soft conversations, and the courage to simply show up again. It reminded me that sometimes survival isn’t about big, dramatic moments… it’s about choosing to keep going, one small step at a time.
This story hurt. It healed. It stayed with me.
If you’ve ever loved deeply, lost painfully, or wondered if your heart could ever open again… this book will find you where you are.
Just like Autumn Leaf Book Shop, Kay Michaels has done it again—another completely enchanting read! From the very first page, you feel like you’re walking the streets of Everly Hollow right alongside Jasmira. The way this story comes to life is just beautiful.
At its heart, this is such a heartfelt, sweet love story—but be warned, it will tug on your emotions. You follow Jasmira as she navigates life as a single mom after losing her true love far too soon. Watching her pick up the pieces and start over—raising her daughter in this cozy, charming town surrounded by love, family, and friendship—just pulls you in even more. And her little coffee shop, The Honey Bee Café? Absolutely dreamy.
But what I really loved is that this story isn’t just about loss—it’s about healing, growth, and finding yourself again. Somewhere along the way, Jasmira opens her heart to love again… and finds something truly special. The kind of love most people only experience once—she gets twice. 🥹
And don’t worry—it’s not all sweet and emotional… there’s definitely some spice in there too 😉 She really grows into herself, breaking past her insecurities and learning to fully embrace life again—and yes, she enjoys every bit of it!
I’d personally rate the spice level 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🫑
Trust me—you won’t be able to put this one down once you pick it up!
I had the chance to read The Honeybee Cafe as part of the ARC team, and this was such an easy 5-star read for me. OH MY GODDESS, you can really see how much Kay Michaels writing has grown since the first book. The story felt more emotional and it completely pulled me in from start to finish. Jasmira and Dominik’s relationship was honestly so sweet. Their history made everything hit harder, and I loved how their story balanced grief, healing, and learning how to move forward. Jas’s fear of moving on after losing her husband felt very real, and Dom’s quiet, steady love for her just made my heart melt. This book made me laugh and definitely made me cry too. The romance had all the tropes I love, and the spice was really well done 🌶🌶🌶. If you like emotional fantasy romance, fated mates, and a friends-to-lovers feel, I’d definitely recommend picking this one up.
I received an ARC for Honeybee Cafe the second book in the Everly Hollow series. This is Jasmira and Dominik's story... Jas owns the towns Cafe. She a widow and single mother. Dominic's is the twon Florist. He was Jas's late husband's Beast friend. Dom has been there for Jasmine since they both last her late husband. They were just friends but he was her and her daughters safe place and rock. Until the Rose blood moon. They are mated. They dont know. What to do or how to feel about it but their feeling for each other start to deepen. I truly love them together. Dom is protective and steady. He is a father figure for her daughter and all she has ever known. This was a beautiful story. I cant wait for the next book in the series.
Loved getting to return to Everly Hollow and follow the love story of two other denizens of the lovely town. Jasmira and Dominick were so sweet to get know more about and see their relationship grow. I was impressed with how real their emotions felt, easily finding myself relate to them. Saren and Millie were a delight too, adding a bit of comfort and joy when needed when things got a bit too deep as Jas and Dom processed their feelings. The writing flowed nicely and captured my attention instantly every time I opened the book, often making it hard to put it down. Highly recommend checking this book (and the first one, if you haven't already) out. Can't wait to see if we get more additions to this series!
Honeybee Café by Kay Michaels is a cozy paranormal romantasy that blends small-town charm with a unique magical twist. The story follows a human main character living among a cast of supernatural beings, ogres, fairies, and more which adds a fun, whimsical layer to an already heartwarming setting. The romance is sweet and easy to root for, but the story also carries emotional depth, especially with themes of grief and healing after the loss of a spouse (worth noting the trigger warning). Overall, it’s a comforting, feel-good read with just the right mix of magic, heart, and small-town charm.
If you love a magical, cinnamon-roll paranormal world with a generous dash of spice, this series is your perfect escape.
This second installment in the series is a stunning exploration of grief and unexpected love. We follow a mother who, after losing her soulmate, embarks on a heartfelt journey. In the most surprising of places; within the arms of a trusted friend, she discovers a new love. The author weaves each emotion with care, leaving subtle Easter eggs that hint at the next couple's fate, promising more magic in the series to come. I am ready for the next book in the series.
Kay Michaels has a beautiful ability to immerse readers in a paranormal romantasy world full of comfort, magic, and spice. 🌶️
I especially love Jas and Dom’s slow-burn love story, unfolding after heartbreak. It’s a truly feel-good story, full of warmth and moments that make you smile while rooting for their connection to grow.
I’m also excited to read about the love stories of the other couples in the the Everly Hollows series.
I highly recommend it to anyone who seeks comfort and enjoys magical romantasy vibes.
Kay Michaels has done it again! I LOVED The Honeybee Cafe. It's a wonderful love story with the perfect level of spiciness. A slow burn, but not TOO slow!! The main characters have palpable chemistry that jumps off the page. The writing is beautifully descriptive so that I feel that I am there in Everly Hollow with all of these loveable characters. I will 100% be reading everything Kay writes. This is the second book of hers I've read and it just keeps getting better and better! Well done!
Damn, what a cozy read! The Honey Bee Café had such warm, comforting vibes that made it easy to sink right into the story. I really enjoyed the single mother trope—it added a layer of depth and emotion that made everything feel a bit more real.
The friends-to-lovers dynamic was done so well, and the chemistry? Definitely there. The spice didn’t disappoint either—it hit just the right balance for me.
I do have to admit, I liked the first book a little more, but this one still held its own and was a really enjoyable follow-up.
Such a sweet story! I was really hoping when I was reading Autumn Bookshop that Jas and Dom would be the next couple! It was really interesting reading about this side of widow-hood and how the grief and emotions unfolded. It felt more real since the author went through the experience. I could feel the author’s and the characters’ strength throughout the book and could feel how Jas and Dom genuinely cared about each other from the very beginning. Also. 🌶️❤️💃🏼
I’d like to thank the author for allowing me to arc read this book. My review is my honest thoughts .
I absolutely loved this book, it’s such a cozy book with friends to lovers, found family, fated mates and more. There are some sensitive subjects but the author writes them with such delicacy and empathy. It is a paranormal romance so many different beings within the book. I didn’t realise it was the second book so I’ll be off to read the first one shortly.
Using a unique blend of fantasy and contemporary romance, Michaels effortlessly weaves together themes of discovery, love, and finding oneself again after loss. This story is a delicate piece of the author's heart. From the dedication all the way to the very last paragraph, her feeling bleeds through on every page. If you're into werewolves and heartfelt second-chance romance with just the right amount of spice, this read is for you!
Wow what a great read. I loved how there were supernatural creatures all through the book, definitely slow burn but I love a good slove burn romance read. I have never read anything from this author before and cait wait to read more from this author. I received an ARC Cooy of this book for my honest and true review and can say I would definitely recommend this book.
