The kingdom of Elemyr has never been ruled by one. A representative of the Land. A representative of the Sky. The heir of the reigning Trinity, bearer of the Sea. Three are bound in sacred rite. Three must endure the trials of the elements before they claim the crown. When Vonetta Sage is chosen by the spirit of the Land, she is torn from the only life she has ever known. In her place waits a prince shaped by legacy and a scholar who never wished to leave the quiet of his cloistered home. They are strangers. They are bound. Across the forest, through storm-torn waters, and into the mountains where the air grows thin and merciless, the Trinity must prove what their vow no secrets. No betrayal. No division. But vows spoken before the Gods are one thing. Choosing to live them is another thing entirely. In Elemyr, sovereignty is not inherited by blood. It is forged—between Three.
Caelia Bevanor is the debut author of Sovereign Oathbound, book one of the Sovereigns of Elemyr Duology. Mythic fantasy romance that sings of devotion and heat. Caelia writes stories where love is never simple, and the complications will make you sweat. Covered in tattoos, she is a self-described “alternative girlie” and a proud Millennial. Cece is a mother of five, a photographer by day, and a romance reader and writer by night. She shares her home with her husband and kids, two cats, a dog, and a bearded dragon named Ducky.
This book is the breath of fresh air fantasy has been desperate for. No filler bs that weighs down the story or creates boring lulls where you question if it’s worth continuing to the good parts. It’s easy to read but depth was not sacrificed for it. The writing is BEAUTIFUL, haunting and a little cheeky at some points. Nothing is forced and you aren’t told how you should feel.
What stuck out more than anything for me (besides the ending) is the complexity of all the characters. From the moment you start you can feel that not only do their stories go so much deeper, but the entire world she built through the eyes of the Trinity does as well. I don’t want to give anything away, but I will say this book makes you want to read as fast as possible to get answers.
Netta, Chiron and Wren are all multilayered in the most beautifully painful ways. Their flaws are shown to you just as much as their strengths. They’re REAL, not 12ft perfect, unattainable myths that fit like a picture perfect puzzle. The dialogue is the kind that makes you forget you’re reading a book instead of actually listening to them conversing. The spicy scenes are beautifully done, not too much and not too little. The build up and tension will have you ready to explode before you get them though 🫠
The plot is unique and captivating. Couldn’t recommend this story more & I am foaming at the mouth for #2 - run to preorder it right this second, you won’t regret it.
“I have spent my life seeking wisdom, studying the Gods… this land. I have never felt reverent of them at any altar. It was a scholastic pursuit, a moral one. Yet now I am reverent… of you. An unwilling acolyte at this altar. Ready to confess every sin— ready to commit any sin to keep you. I am broken… by you both.” ° Ahhhhhhhh!! This book y'all. Without giving too much away I love it so much. And it's a debut novel too?! Caelia Bevanor (oh captain my captain) is a wonderful writer. You really feel like you're in the characters minds in this book and you really will feel drawn in to their emotions and their feelings. Their ideas and their thoughts will feel like your own.
So basically the triad is three people chosen to embody the Trinity. Land, Sky, and Sea. A man from the Isle of Man, a woman from the Isle of Woman and a royal prince or princess. They're the Trinity. The ruling elite. This book follows the choosing of the next trinity. Vonetta, Wren, and Chiron. A priestess, a scholar, a prince. And the trials they have to go through to become the rulers of their realm, Elemyr. They go through so much together and really they test if they'll ever become one. This book releases in June. You should really check it out.
Earth, Sky, and Sea must be cohesive, must be one for the land to be rich. Netta is a priestess, duty-bound to her Lady and to her land. She never expected to be part of the Triad, never expected to be anything more than a priestess. Her entire life is shifted when the Lady calls upon her.
From the first 3 paragraphs, I was hooked. Caelia writes her books like she is living each person's story. Netta, a tall and curvy FMC, is compelling. She is not perfect, but she is REAL. Chiron is... the most spectacular book husband I have read in a while, and Wren? Well, Wren will bring out emotions that you don't expect. Every time I said I was going to rest a bit, I found myself continuing to read because of Caelia's writing. Hooked and I will be purchasing a book trophy.
The spice... look it's spicy. I kept asking myself time and time again what would come next, how it could escalate. The Triad made me fall back in love with watching. IYKYK. And look, the husbands do be husbands.
This is Caelia's debut, a book filled with so much heart and soul, it is felt in every single page. And I better be getting the sequel because that cliffhanger... yeah, it's THAT good.
