She's been named Lexia, 'man's defender', by the one who raised her and died for her, the man she called her father.

She's been named Maura, 'for darkness', by the woman who created her, a mother who sees her as a weapon, and tool for power.

She has battled for her freedom, for the revenge of her father’s death, and then given it all up to save the man she loves.

She's given up her soul, her humanity, and now, there is only one question left. Can she create her own destiny or is she bound to follow the fate set for her before she was born?

Maura?

Lexia?

Only one thing is certain; war is coming.

What can I say about 'Holocaust'??? HOLY COW.... Rachel finished off her "The Deadwood Hunter" series with so much action & angst, dragging me into the story within the first chapter. I highly recommend you grab yourselves a copy of the series, starting at Lexia & devour the magic writen by Rachel.

I'd forgotten to live whilst reading this book, I swear my heart stopped at times. The things Lexia had seen or made to do whilst under the control of the Hunters where bad, sometimes downright scary... especially being that her mother is the leader & creator of them all. Lexia can't live with her choice & so hids behind the facade of Maura, still teathered only slightly to Linc, while Maura is in charge.

I found parts of this book so emotional, it was terrible for me... I could barley see from the tears or breathe through my nose... tissue box was on my lap! This whole series was UNBELIEVABLY AMAZING... now I can't wait for more books from Rachel. Thank you Rachel, even though you made me cry (although I think you like doing that) this was an ending for the series that was unexpected but wonderful all in one.

Stuck between being Lexia and Maura, she has to find a way to come to terms with everything shes done and find a way to free herself from her mother. Everyone is looking to her as a leader to find a way to help everyone free of the hell they are in and she has more people now than ever she must protect.

It started with doing what was necesserary to protect her love and mate Lincoln, now she has so many more who require her protection from Lucy and her evil ways.

Lexia is breaking apart from the inside being Maura allowed her to do what was necesserary to keep those she loved safe, but if she ever goes back to being Lexia she'll have to find a way to deal with the terrible things she has had to do.

Everything comes to a head in this one and we see several POV's as we find out how this story ends. It's not an easy journey and while she has had to be strong for everyone else you see her cracking and it's a journey you don't wanna miss to see how she comes out of everything that has happened to her. Intense and crazy the conclusion to the series still has a few surprises up its sleeve you never see coming!

* I received an early release copy of this book and this is my honest review*

I have followed this series since Rachel first Released Lexia, and if you love Paranormal Romance books with strong characters who strive to overcome their circumstances they find themselves in, where they try to do the right thing for the ones they love.

I am going to write a spoiler free review, where I don't give away the plot too much - so If you haven't read Books 1 Lexiathen go grab it now - its available FREE for the Release week for Holocaust and Book 2 Whispers of DarknessLexia is $0.99c on Amazon.

So Rachel has finally written the final of the Deadwood Hunter Trilogy, and Lexia has to make a decision - She gave up so much for the one she loves, but as winter starts to thaw so does the ice around her heart.

Lexia's journey has been a tough one, she's had to grow up quick after her seemingly normal existence turns into the stuff of a sci-fi movie.

Hidden away from the mother who calls her Maura, she has had to fight the Teams of Hunters under the direction of the mother who heads the secret army of Super soldiers. She puts up a good fight, but then when given no choice has to give it up to save the man she loves - Lincoln.

As the synopsis says

She's given up her soul, her humanity, and now, there is only one question left. Can she create her own destiny or is she bound to follow the fate set for her before she was born?
Maura?
Lexia?
Only one thing is certain; war is coming.

When War is inevitable, the question is how long do you wait to fight back, how many should be sacrificed to ensure that the end game has a fighting chance at an outcome that will be for the Good Side. These are the decisions that Lexia can't deal with so she is hiding behind Maura. Maura doesn't care, she doesn't feel.... But sometimes even hiding doesn't work.

If you are a paranormal fan then this series is for you, Lexia was the Debut Novel for Rachel, and as the series has developed you can see that Rachel's writing style has developed also, she has a great imagination, I have re-read Lexia and WOD and each time I pick up more of story line I will definitely be keeping this in my re-read shelf. The struggle Lexia has with the two sides of her personality is also a good aspect of this book, its good that she struggles with the moral aspects of submitting to be her mothers puppet. There are a few twists, and some more characters introduced. Can the shifter world unite to defeat Lucy Hunter and the army of enhanced humans known as 'Hunters' can Lexia stay buried underneath the psyche of Maura? There's not much in the romance department in this installment due our hero and heroine being apart, but there's certainly lots of romance and action in the end.

Rachel has really grown with her writing and it shows in this final book. Well I recommend that you buy the books and see for yourself and I look forward to seeing where Ms Raithby's imagination takes us next time seeing where Ms Raithby's imagination takes us next time

Reviewed for Hooked on Books

This is the 3rd book in the series.

Lexia or Maura, Lexia is fighting the battle between her and Maura, she needs Maura to survive through this warped situation, but she also needs to keep Lexia alive to stop the darkness overtaking. She is so torn between right and wrong and can't forgive herself for some of the things she has done. Lexia is now part of her mothers twisted world and she has to do whatever to survive, can she put an end to this once and for all ? Can she lead them all to freedom ? Will we find out who Derrick really is ? Can she and Lincoln ever be together again ?

I loved the first book in the series, the 2nd book had a little something missing, ...this 3rd book WOW ! I loved every minute of it, it was such a hard book to put down, with so much going on and some great twists and turns. I would have liked a little more on Lincoln and Lexia, I grew to love them so much as a couple and their chemistry was lacking throughout this book, however this didn't really affect the book ....I was hooked and drawn in from the start. A great end to the series, I would highly recommend reading these books.

Holy Holocaust! That's an ending!
As with each book in this series, my heart was in my throat and literally pounding with the drama inside this story. Lexia's story is captivating, intriguing, heart-breaking, and deserving of a happily ever after. Now Lexia will tell you that the happy ending is out of reach and she doesn't deserve it, but she deserves so much more.
The shifters are uniting under an alpha wolf pack and Lincoln jumps four feet into the fray. Lexia is slipping. She struggling to keep Maura at bay while using the darkness as a shield until all at once the world goes black. The reader is riveted to their seat, incapable of deciding just what is going to happen. All your favorite characters are there; Caleb, Caden, Lincoln, Alice, Derrick, and some new friends too. You'll have to read them all to discover just whose side you are on and how far you'd be willing to go to save the ones you love.

Lexia/Maura is not only battling the life as a hunter in the compound that her mother chose for her, she is also battling the demons in her mind. While trying to stop her mother from creating more hunters, trying to protect her mate Lincoln, and also her friends that she has made inside the compound. She plays her mothers mind games, but in the end who will win in the battle of the mind games and the war within the compound?

As with the other books in this series, I couldn't put it down! I read late into the night and lost sleep. But it was well worth it!

Heartbreaking and truly amazing!!

A story of a girl not knowing what she is but accepting the burden her mother placed on her. Finding and losing love plus everyone she cares about life miss in her hands. So many choices to make while slowly dying inside. A series worth reading!!!!

Too predictable ends well

The constant running the same theme became too predictable. The main character never learns. The book did end well a reasonable wrap up.

I know I am in the minority but I was very disappointed in this book. Lexia was all over the place. I was hoping by the end of book 2 or early beginning of book 3 she would have outgrown her wining stage and become centered but she was just weak. And poor Lincoln! The way that woman tortured him. The reconciliation was just so easy after all she did to Lincoln. I know they are mated and thus he can't be with anyone. I think it would have been poetic if Lincoln had died. It would have been a self-fulfilled prophecy since she puts all the blame for other's fault on herself unnecessarily. For once she would have been right.

The best ending for this book would have been a tragedy. She, with her daughter and FRIENDS whom she seem to be fine being around even when she was falling apart, and Lincoln at peace away from her in death, while she regretted her decision for the rest of her life for pushing away Lincoln and for not finding strength in his love, because he needed her too.

A perfect conclusion

*Sigh* This is one of the best series I have read. Though the authors writing style took awhile to get used to, the story is so.. incredible that you can overlook the writing style. The emotional perspectives and the character development is something this book should get an award for. I’m not going to say much, since its the last book and most of you reading my review will have had already read the first books. This is a perfect conclusion to the series. Read it.

Final part

This is the third and final part of the trilogy. Lexia goes through almost insurmountable trials and cruelty caused by her biological mother. It looks like she was not going to survive and its a long road to travel. Linc also suffers as much as she does. Secrets are revealed and the full story emerges. Part of Kindle Unlimited.

A perfect ending!

I'm saddened that the series has to end, but it ended perfectly! There is opportunity for at least one more book, but ultimately that is up to the author. I can't wait to read Rachel's other works!
