I am a Canadian indie author of dark romance/romantasy. The Edge of Reason is my debut, with Hell Hunter hot on its heels.

I have always been an avid reader. Growing up, many authors have influenced my writing and my favourites span across pretty much all genres from the classics (Jane Austen, Bronte sisters) to epic fantasy (Tolkein) and of course, the start of my foray into the dark and twisted, VC Andrews. I also developed a taste for medical mysteries with Robin Cook and of course Patricia Cornwell and her Kay Scarpetta series.

I am very pleased to have you along for the ride on my literary journey, and it will be interesting to see where we'll visit along the way.

This was a quick, fun, spicy dark romance. It's a perfect book to break up some of the longer or heavier books. Although this is a dark romance, the dark themes in The Edge of Reason don't feel too heavy. There is enough detail provided that the point comes across, but not so much detail that you feel the weight on your chest. I hope that makes sense to more than just me.

My favorite part of this book was the romantic tension. The book begins with an insta-lust moment and Syn does a great job making the reader feel the tension as it builds between Val and Draven. I think the spice was well done and well placed here. This is a very spice forward story, but it is varied and interesting in each of the many scenes.

There were several moments where the plot took a turn that I did not expect which I appreciate. That's all the detail I will provide because I'm not about to spoil anything.

What I was yearning for more of was backstory. We get a taste of each Val, Draven, his family, Tim, etc. But I was craving for a little more background to drive in the personalities for each character and support their actions and decisions.

Overall, anyone who enjoys dark romance, professional followers, spice with kink... Pick up this debut story and give a new indie author a try.

This short read is packed full of so much tension, banter, and spice that you won’t be able to put it down. Valkyrie is a confident, a successful businesswomen and boss. But like so many others, she battles insecurities and anxiety. One morning while enjoying her first of many cups of coffee she sees the most attractive man, Adonis himself, waiting for the elevator. She takes him in…all of him and gets caught looking. Draven oozes confidence and has a presence that steals the oxygen from every room he walks into. That elevator ride is quite possibly one of the steamiest elevator scenes I’ve ever read. Their chemistry is instaneous and undeniable. Draven is relentless in his pursuit of Val, taking every rejection as a challenge. There is also hilarious inner dialogue and witty banter that helps balances out the spice and the heavier emotional moments. It’s not often that in a boss/employee workplace romance the fmc is the boss. This created its own tension because Draven doesn’t hide his feelings or intentions. His obsession crossed boundaries that he saw as more of as a suggestion and questionable tactics to keep an eye on Val. There were times when things felt choppy and felt as if some important things happened off page. The ending also felt a little rushed, could have used a bit more of her healing journey. I am interested to learn more about Draven’s brothers and their business.

Spicy, lusty, quick read! I loved how easy this was to read because I was fully immersed in the instant intense physical attraction of Val and Draven. I love reading about a woman who drools over a man, who is so in tune with what she needs. She’s his boss and the workplace (and elevator) setting made their interactions flirty and sexy. The way he becomes obsessed with her and ends up stalking her stalker made me laugh. The ending came to an intense moment and Tim was a little terrifying. The spicy scenes were hot and made these two just fit together so well as BDSM and consent were major themes. They both took great care to worship the other, and that was the brightest spot amidst this dark romance.

Okay, first things first... can we talk about this cover? It is absolutely gorgeous. The colors are so bold and eye-catching that I was drawn to it immediately. Before I even opened the book, I already knew it was one I wanted sitting on my shelf.

What really kept me invested though was the characters. Valkyrie felt like a real person instead of a perfect fictional heroine. She is successful, confident, and runs her own business, but underneath all that strength is someone carrying insecurities and anxiety. She struggles with confrontation despite being in a position where she has to make difficult decisions, and that made her incredibly relatable to me.

There were definitely moments where I wanted to shake some sense into her, but that is exactly why I liked her. Her flaws felt authentic. She doubts herself, lets her emotions get the better of her sometimes, and carries wounds that continue to affect how she sees herself and the people around her. Those imperfections made her feel human.

Draven was impossible not to love. From the moment he appeared, I completely understood why Valkyrie was struggling to ignore him. He is charming, confident, persistent, and knows exactly what he wants. The chemistry between these two was immediate and intense. Their interactions had me grinning, blushing, and constantly looking forward to their next scene together.

And the spicey scenes were absolutely delicious. There was so much passion, tension, and raw lust between them that it felt completely consuming. The romantic build-up paid off in a way that felt intense and satisfying, and those moments were written with a heat that really matched their dynamic.

I also loved the workplace dynamic. Seeing the female main character in the position of authority while the male main character worked for her felt refreshing. It created a different kind of tension that I do not come across often, and I found myself really enjoying that aspect of the story.

One thing that surprised me was how much emotional weight this book carried. Beneath the romance is a story that deals with the aftermath of domestic abuse and the lasting scars it leaves behind. Valkyrie's fear, self-doubt, and struggles felt heartbreakingly real at times. The author did a wonderful job showing that surviving abuse is not as simple as walking away. The emotional impact lingers, and watching Valkyrie navigate that reality added so much depth to her character.

Because of that, Draven's role in her life felt even more meaningful. What I appreciated most was that he never overshadowed her strength. Valkyrie is a survivor in her own right. Draven simply became someone who stood beside her, supported her, and showed her what genuine care and respect look like. The contrast between the darkness of her past and the safety she slowly finds made some of the most emotional moments hit even harder.

The writing itself was another highlight for me. Syn Daye has a way of bringing scenes to life so vividly that I could picture everything unfolding in my head like a movie. The emotions felt strong, the dialogue flowed naturally, and I found myself getting completely wrapped up in the story.
Overall, this was such an enjoyable read. It gave me romance, tension, emotional depth, and characters who felt flawed and believable.

Valkyrie and Draven were easy to root for, and their journey kept me invested from beginning to end. I finished the book excited to see what Syn Daye writes next, which is always a good sign when I close that final page.

So I was lucky enough to get on Syn's team for this and have been following and waiting and living for all the teasers and now, finally, I can say without a doubt, this book was fantastic.

It is hot and spicy from page 1 but there is still plot and a strong story running through it.

Valkyrie Carver, Val, owns and runs a marketing company, values her staff like family and cannot live without coffee. Unfortunately, she has a dark past and her demons are still following her but that is where Draven Gates comes in. Val is strong and independent and wants to be there for everyone that means something to her, but she is stubborn and doesn't seem to want to give into Draven which makes their relationship very tense but in that deliciously, dark sexy way that we all love.

Draven Gates, where the fuck can I get me an man like this? He screams red flags but in the most green flag way. He's built like a Greek God, always wearing black, tattooed and pierced and I can already here that deep gravelly voice in my head when he speaks. He's obsessed from the moment they meet but then realises it's much more, he wants to keep her safe, keep her satisfied and just keep her his. A notorious playboy with a reputation for loving them then leaving them but can one woman completely change this man forever?

The way they are trying to be professional but cant keep their hands off each other is everything. The need, the obsession, the heat and desire is just next level and I loved every minute.

I am looking forward to seeing more from the Gates men, as Draven's brothers are featured in the story and I am wondering if we will see more from Aidan, the bodyguard at Club V.

Absolutely loved this book and can't wait to read more from Syn, loved it and would highly recommend.

This was a delightful surprise! The attraction between Val and Draven starts from beginning and never loses its power.

Val is bad ass. She is a force. But so is Draven. And he never relents in his pursuit of Val. He never hides his feelings for her and isn’t afraid who knows. Val is reluctant to take the leap at first but can’t fight it.

Draven is a naturally dominant man but doesn’t try to dominate Val in her world where she’s the alpha. It takes a very secure man to know her power isn’t a threat to his.

Okay, so Draven and his brothers do some surveillance shit that I needed more of. It just felt dropped in where convenient without enough substance. Adding more of that could’ve really upped the storyline.

The smut was good. The attraction was well written. But some things, like the scene at the end, weren’t incorporated well. It alludes to prior BDSM play that wasn’t featured in the book. I want ALL the BDSM scenes! 🫣🤣

The storyline with the ex and the bodyguard at the club needed to be filled in more. How did they know each other? How were they working together? What happened to the bodyguard after he was drug from the scene? I have questions.

Overall, I gave it a 4 because I really liked the characters and loved them together. And the on page smut was good. Even with the areas I felt could be improved the story was engaging and flowed well. I’m interested in the potential connected storylines with the brothers.

This book hooks you from the very first chapter. Val and Draven’s story doesn’t drag on before things get interesting, I t’s intense, steamy, funny, and completely addictive right from the start. Syn does an amazing job showing how deeply these characters influence each other while still fighting the undeniable passion between them that makes them feel truly alive.

Valkyrie Carver is a strong, confident businesswoman, and Draven Gates is her dangerously irresistible new employee, who you can imagine is actually hotter than Hades himself. Their chemistry is electric, and every interaction between them crackles with tension. Draven’s persistence and devotion make him impossible not to love, and honestly, I certainly wouldn’t say no to Draven restraining me.

What I loved most was how emotional and consuming their connection became. Draven would stop at nothing to make Val his, and the lengths he goes to prove that only make the story even more gripping. I genuinely wish there was a second book for these characters because I wasn’t ready to let them go.

Me the entire time reading The Edge of Reason: “this is fine 🙂”… meanwhile everything was absolutely NOT fine 😂🫣

This book was chaotic in the best way, emotional tension, questionable decisions, ⚡⚡⚡chemistry, and enough drama to keep the pages turn quickly 👀

What I enjoyed most was how messy and human the characters felt. Nobody always says the right thing, nobody has everything figured out. The push-and-pull dynamic and banter worked really well for them, their chemistry definitely carried the story. There’s a lot of tension, emotional baggage, miscommunication, and yearning woven through the entire book.

I also really liked the balance between heavier emotional moments and the lighter banter throughout the story. While there were plenty of steamy scenes (who am I kidding they were straight up 🔥🔥🔥), I loved the way Syn built our FMC considering her DV past. While she was strong and put together and successful she was also not afraid to be fun and sexy and human in her decisions, and I really loved we got snippets of her recovery.

I would like to add some extra ⭐⭐⭐ on top of the current rating knowing who the inspiration for Draven was...Thanks Syn 😉...that being said, now waiting for each of the Gates brother’s books and Aidan’s novella 😁😂

The book opens with the FMC Val eyeing up her eye candy 🤣 (of to a great start lol). Page 1 of the chapter i was already cackle laughing "when the Greek god, Adonis himself, doth appear in the flesh before me. And what fine flesh he was." 🤣🤣 what is it about Elevators?! Lol I loved that scene tho with Val & Draven.
Syn gets right in there and I'm soooo there for it. Before I knew it I was like 25 pages in and was like eh how I just started 🤣🥵👀. I have to admit that I loved Draven from his first chapter, there's just something hot about a man who knows what he wants and won't stop until he gets it 👀🥵😱

This is a dark romance and I would definitely suggest checking your triggers. Valkyrie is a strong business woman who knows what she wants and not afraid to go after it if need be. Draven is her new employer and hotter than sin.

I was selected to receive a free ARC in return of an honest review. I feel like this book truly had so much potential, but unfortunately fell completely flat. The Dark Romance part of this was good, but also lacking. I feel like this book read more like a rough outline that wasn’t sure which way it wanted to go.

It starts off with what I would assume would lead to a forbidden work place romance. Then pivoted to a stalker romance and some BDSM thrown in at the very end. I wasn’t sure what the overall plot was. We got very little backstory of Val and her ex so didn’t know much about what was going on with that. Draven lives a double life? Not really sure about that part either. He and his brother are part of some security firm, but Draven also has a regular job?

I feel like this book could truly turn into something, but it needs a huge overhaul to get there. So much was missing in some areas, so it just left me confused and wondering what was going on.

Syn! This was an incredible read, hot, intense...impossible to put down, it kept your interest piqued the whole time.

I love the tension right off bat between Val and Draven, and their first interaction... wow. Chefs. Kiss.

From there the tension, the drama, the spice..it just keeps building. Watching them work through both relationship and work dynamic, is incredible. Of course not...everything is exactly smooth, but what's a girl to do when you're running a company and hes hot as sin and says your his?

I dont want to give anything away, but holy hell the twist! Even in utter chaos when all is spiraling Val proves shes a tough as nails FMC and Im here for it.
Thankfully our boy, Draven, he comes in hot and ready, right when it counts.

That ending though......let me tell you.....get yourself a hand fan, you’ll need it and kittens dont forget to breathe.

Whoa, Sally at his dark romance, spicy spice spice, wild ride. I laughed and swooned right along with our FMC. Her inner dialogue is hilarious and the snark and banter she brings to the table is top notch. And the fact that she tries so hard to deny the MMC but also doesn't... it was well done and didn't leave me with my eyes rolling.

Now, let's talk about our sweet dear MMC. "Here I was, minding my own business, practically orgasming over my coffee, when the Greek god, Adonis himself, doth appear in the flesh before me. And what fine flesh he was." Draven, our possessive, slightly unhinged, and "only one night for me, thank you" tall drink of water. Goddess above, I need to know SO much more about our main man. He is so down bad for Val that it is hilarious.

I will say that this book doesn't pull any punches, so if you aren't into graphic scenes, both sexual and violent, then maybe sit this one out. Or don't. Maybe go on a wild ride and join the dark side. It's fun over here.

Ive been sitting here back and forth about how i want to rate this book . So I came to the thought of rating it 4.5 stars.

The book was really captivating and it drew you in from the beginning. It's a book which you can read in one sitting.
We are met with a fiesty FMC Val , and you cant help but admire the women she was strong , feisty , sucessful the perfect FMC. and then we met Draven a possessive, Greek god of a man and They have a forbidden romance with in the workplace which soon turns out dark when vals ex comes into the picture.

I enjoyed the The banter between the main characters and the chemistry that they had. The spice in this book was spicy and had some really steamy scenes in. Like who wouldnt want to get spicy in the office at work with the potential of been caught 🥵
The ending was great and had a really nice finish.
The writing in this book was amazing written and its a great read

• The characters. Draven has a lot of fun layers and I love a man obsessed. Val was strong and sure, and unapologetic.
• The overall vibe, I was instantly drawn into the story.
• The spice was SO fun, and the author wrote their tension beautifully.

What I didn't love:
• The story wasn't sure where it wanted to go. The beginning was a stalker romance. Then it pivoted to a workplace romance, and then a BDSM romance right at the very end.
• The story switched between 1st person and 3rd person during several chapters.
• It felt like more of an outline versus a completed story. There was SO much awesome here, but none of it felt fully fleshed out, and more rushed than anything.
• Not to mention the story just kind of....ended.

I love a dark romance with a Dual POV that makes you giggle and kick your feet. On the flip side pulls your heart and makes you feel for what the characters are going through. Which is why i loved this so much! The secrets, the chemistry, the piercings and tattoos on BOTH of them and the tension had me all over the place! I had a lot of love for these characters. Val is the ultimate Girl Boss and I absolutely loved that angle on her! My only gripe(if you wanna call it that) is I wish there was more! I didn't want Val and Drakes story to end!

This book was fire!!! Dual POV is everything, and this book delivered it perfectly. Draven and Val had the kind of tension that keeps you hooked from the start. The chemistry between them was intense, full of spice, banter, and all the emotional push and pull... Yass Queen!

Val’s character growth was one of my favorite parts. She wants to be the kind of girl who isn’t afraid to step into the dark, and Draven is the darkness....
Their dynamic was addictive. Draven brings the danger and edge, while Valkyrie proves she’s far more than just a love interest. She’s rebuilding herself, finding her strength after trauma, and fully stepping into her girl boss era.

That said— this books gets 5 ⭐️ from me for managing the very deft feat of being completely satisfying to both habitual dark romance readers and ocassional, lighter-dark romance readers, at the same time. (That should give you an idea of how skilled Mr. Draven —erm, Ms. Syn— is. 😏)

All the edgy elements were there. But presented in such a way that a vast swath of readers will feel intrigued, and engaged. As a fluffy marshmallow, non-dark reader I was not put off by anything featured. If anything, I wanted more to Val and Draven’s story. So I am looking forward to seeing them pop up in subsequent books in this interconnected series of standalones.

This is my first book from Syn and I am eagerly awaiting the next drop. Right out the gate the connection was built and I was plugged in from page 1! Who hasn't felt instant lust for a stranger that makes you feel slightly uncomfortable and also revel in the almost forbidden secret desire? Just me? Oh...well ya'll ain't lived! Anywho, the ride was on and poppin from jump street and I was riding with my hands in the air! I was rooting for Val to slide into sin and experience her Draven. The shenanigans Draven brought to the table were wild! Loved it! Unhinged @$$! The book did feel more than a little rushed at the end to close the story. I would love to see the backstory for Aiden and hubby along with Draven's brothers. Pretty please Syn! With a headboard tied up top!

This is a bit out of my normal genres, but I had a good feeling about this book and I was not disappointed!

The Edge of Reason is a fast paced, dark, hot and simply incredible read and if this is your thing then you are in the right place here! Go read the trigger warnings before diving into this story though - they are there for a reason ;)

Quite the novel!
This is definitely a dark romance so heed the trigger warnings.

This starts with the heat from the beginning to the end. But don't worry there's plenty of plot.

I love Valkyrie as the FMC. She is strong survivor of traumatic abuse, but she persevered and got the justice that she deserved.

Draven has never considered a relationship and never spent more than one night with a woman until Val. And she makes him rethink the rest of his life. "There is no version of this world where I don’t want you just as you are, where I don’t love you."

The banter. The tension. The heat. This couple has it all!

Syn, I can't wait to see what you come up with next!

The Edge of Reason is a quick, spicy dark romance that keeps the tension high without letting the heavier themes weigh it down. The chemistry between Val and Draven builds fast and sharp, with twists that keep the story moving and the spice hitting just right. I wanted more backstory, but it was short read so u cant fault it. If you like dark romance, kink‑leaning spice you will have a great time with this one.

This is a really good and spicy workplace romance. Val is a confident businesswoman who knows how to carry herself. Draven sees her and immediately wants her to be his next conquest. But she will literally be his next challenge. I love the way she puts him off and tries to resist him. It really makes the chase more fun for him. If you want lots of spice with a nice side of st@lking, this is your next book.

Wow.. talk about the heated initial scene between Val and Draven.. he knew she was different for him and so did she but that didn’t come easy. They had push and pull, drama/trauma to overcome, and a lot of healing to do. It was little fast paced and I would have loved more details and scenes of their growth but only cause I loved them and want more!
