You Did Nothing To Deserve This!: Endometriosis Validation

Rate this book
If you live with endometriosis and you are tired of being told to “stay positive”, “push through” and “everyone has bad periods”, this book was written for you.

“You Did Nothing To Deserve This” is a deeply validating, emotionally honest companion for women living with endometriosis. It is not a medical textbook, a diet plan or a list of miracle cures. It is a hand on your shoulder and a voice beside you saying, over and “I believe you. It is that bad. And none of this is your fault.”

Written by a husband who has spent years walking beside his wife through endo, surgery, infertility fears, gaslighting and flare days, this book speaks directly to you in the second person. Every chapter feels like a private conversation with someone who finally gets how heavy this is, without trying to fix you or talk you out of your feelings.

Across 20 short, powerful chapters you will find words for the things you rarely say out

the shame of feeling “weak” or “lazy” when your body collapses

the trauma of not being believed by doctors, family or partners

the guilt of cancelling plans and seeing disappointment on other people’s faces

the fear around motherhood, fertility and a future your body might not allow

the loneliness of being “the strong one” who holds everything together

the anger that nobody talks about, and the jealousy you hate admitting

the heartbreak of sex that hurts and a body you no longer trust

You will read

gaslighting and dismissal, and why what was done to you was not “just bad luck”

why rest is not laziness, but survival

how to stop measuring yourself against healthy people’s lives

how to begin building a life that fits your reality, not the world’s expectations

how to let yourself feel grief, anger and hope without apology

Each chapter is short enough to read in one sitting on a flare day, in a waiting room, in bed at 3 a.m., or when you only have a few minutes of energy. You do not have to read in order. You can open to the chapter title that matches your heart that guilt, anger, motherhood, intimacy, partners, flare days, trusting your body again.

This book will not tell you that pain is a gift or that everything happens for a reason. It will not ask you to be grateful for your suffering or to “manifest” your way out of a disease.

Instead, it

name what has happened to you with honesty

separate who you are from what your body has been through

remind you that your needs and limits are real, not inconveniences

give you sentences you can hold onto when you doubt yourself

help you start unlearning the lie that you somehow caused this

“You Did Nothing To Deserve This” is a book you can keep on your bedside table and return to on the days you feel crazy, weak, guilty or alone. It is there to say what the world should have said to you years

You are not making this up.
You are not a burden.
You are not a failure for needing help.

This book made me feel less alone and puts this chronic illness of Endometriosis into perspective, I cried through the first three chapters as I am currently going through a flare up, and if felt somebody else understood me.
I would recommend to get your family, friends, work colleagues or anyone else close to you to read this so they can understand a small snippet of what you go through on a daily basis.
