Conall Morrissey is used to living a life of luxury as the pet to Irish mob boss, Sloan Killough, and Conall will be the first to admit he takes his boss’s presence in his life for granted.

When the war between the Killough Company and the Reyes Cartel lands Sloan in jail, it leaves Sloan’s apprentice, Fionn, and Conall to take control. Conall realizes neither of them are prepared. He never truly imagined a scenario where the Killough Company would be left without Sloan’s leadership. In Sloan’s absence, Conall becomes aware of how much he cares about—maybe even loves—the mob boss. Conall would do anything to be back in Sloan’s arms.

Sloan Killough doesn’t take being attacked lightly. He would kill to get back to his pet. For now, he trusts Conall and Fionn to keep his company together while he finds a way out of his current predicament. The more time he spends apart from Conall, the more time he has to face his feelings. He can’t imagine a life without him.

When his leadership is tested, Conall’s strength is challenged. He plans to make Sloan proud, even if it requires the ultimate sacrifice.

Sloan and Conall are back and I couldn't be happier, it was like coming home. Getting more of these two was everything I wanted and more.

This surprise release was such a joy to see. I figured this would take a long time to come out, just like the 4th one, but not even a year later this one was released.

Getting back into Sloan and Conall's relationship was a treat, and they are definitely still my favorite relationship of this series, definitely the flagship couple.

Since the last book ended with Sloan going to jail, I was really excited to see how these two would deal with it. Since they've been happy since their last book for so many years, you would think their story would be over, but nope! There's still so much to explore, like if Sloan ever actually had to deal with being in jail.

Also, 8 years into their relationship and these two stubborn idiots still haven't said "I love you" to each other, and that certainly changes here. After some wait still to get there.

Also with Sloan in jail, there's some players in the organization who think they can take over while he is, so they have to deal with that problem, of mutiny and betrayal within the organization. It's like they forget who they're dealing with...

If anything, this book just reiterated how in love Sloan and Conall are and I LOVED it. Their chemistry was as good as ever, their fire and passion for each other just as massive as it always has been, and their love stronger than ever. No one messes with their man.

Do they struggle in this? Yeah, but they always come back together. Conall has a hard time with Sloan locked up, but Sloan also has a hard time being locked up. And first and foremost, they miss each other like crazy. They need each other by each other's side. Their love and devotion is at its height here. Plus, they're not normal men so of course there is violence to be had to anyone who gets near what is theirs.

Also Conall becomes mysteriously ill while Sloan is in jail, and that worry is throughout this until Conall gets bad enough they actually have to deal with (don't worry, it's nothing permanent and they're able to treat for him to get better. I had a low level worry, but this is a Romance after all, nothing too bad or permanent happens to him.)

It was cool to see these two tested as well. Like they've been by each other's side for 8 years, never having to separate for more than a few days at a time, and never in a forced way like Sloan in jail, so the time Sloan is in jail is them seeing what it's like without the other for a long time, and it ain't pretty for them.

Also, by the end of this...there's still some dangling storylines so I was happy to see we're getting at least one more book with these two. (I will never tire of getting stories with these two, though, js, but I will live with it if we just get this one more.) Because now they need...to get married! But also, ever since Sloan has gotten out of jail, he's less controlled than he usually is, letting his anger take over more than usual, and he feels the need to be even more dominant than usual too - I wonder why that is and I bet we'll get more into why in the next book, and perhaps Sloan will work through the after affects of what prison did to him.

I also loved how these two fought in this too. Like they have a real fight but they come together afterward so quickly too. They rarely ever really fight for real, so seeing how they handle the rare real fight was actually fun to read. They're never leaving each other again if they can help it after what they go through in this, though, and I loved it. I loved how there were still ways to put these two through it to make them even stronger on the other side of it.

I could keep going about these two and how much I love them, but I'll leave it here for now. I'm so so excited that we don't have to say goodbye permanently to these two yet. The Kingpin is sure to be amazing, and secure these two as the top couple and ones not to be fucked with, ever. (Not that idiots still don't try as evidenced by this book lol)

I'm also excited to see that after their book we're getting Ronan's book. He's been a loyal bodyguard and friend since the beginning and he deserves a love of his own.

So until then 😘

Amazing!

The Pet by M.D. Gregory is book 5 in the The Killough Company series. I have been dying for this book and was very excited to see its release. It was definitely worth the wait. Sloan is arrested and while in jail Conall and Fionn have to hold everything together. I was on the edge of my seat to see how the men would react to these two being in charge. Would they work together or not? Seeing Sloan and Conall finally admit how they feel (after eight years together) was just perfect and I loved the touch at the end with Conall and the greenhouse (do not want to give too much away). It was also really nice to see Fionn and Conall getting along (which did start in book 4 but we see more of it here). I am dying to see what happens in the next book. There is a reason that this author is one of my favorites. The way this ties into all of the other books in the universe is inspiring. It feels like one big story being told from so many perspectives. I absolutely love it!

I received an ARC from BookSprout and the author for my honest review.

Worth the wait

I was so happy when this was a surprise release as the series is one of my all time favourites. MD put Connall threw the ringer my poor baby ,so get your tissues ready. Even after everything he was going through Connall still brought his sense of humour especially his nickname for Senan.

Oh boy did I love this story! Sloan and Conall are back!
These stubborn men can’t get the ILY words out of their mouths. Wait for it!

Sloan is in prison, and Conall and Fionn have taken over the reins. Some forces want to take over Sloan’s business!

Conall and Sloan have a bad time being apart.
It was wonderful to read all that happens, it’s so worth reading!

The whole time I read this book I kept feeling like I was missing something. Like it kept referring to how the two MMC met but it was never explained, that’s cause it’s book 5 *face palm* so I’m off to read the rest of the series. I think if I had already read the first 4 books and knew the characters this book would have been a full circle, but I enjoyed it anyway. I’ll read the previous and next books.

It may have been some time before we get to read more about Conall and Sloan, but I really enjoyed this book!

It's the fifth book in The Killough Company series, and if you don't want to miss out on anything, you should read those books in order. I might even suggest reading The Irish Roulette by the same author as well.

This book packed a ton of emotions, and I couldn't help but fall even more in love with both main characters. Conall has really grown up from the scared and spoiled young man he was in the first book. He is now a true partner to Sloan, mob boss of the Irish Mafia. Sloan has finally realized his life had been empty before his pet, and is coming to grip with never wanting to let Conall go.

While the police want to put Sloan behinds bars, Conall and Fionn are left in charge. Trying to figure out the best way to deal with unrest, a surprise visit from family members, and more, Conall forgets he also needs to take care of himself. Will Sloan be in time to save his pet? And will they finally admit the depth of their feelings for each other?

If I have to offer a point of critic, I would say the ending could have been more complete. There were almost no reference to the trouble Conall had dealt with and the effects it still might have. The ending of the story also offers up Lor's upcoming book on a silver platter! I'm really looking forward to reading more about him.

HFN, although the main story line is far from over and I expect we will see a lot more of both main characters in future books.

The Pet by M.D. Gregory 5⭐️ 4🌶️

I should start by saying I’ve been waiting a long time for Sloan and Conall to arrive.

I followed the author’s journey in getting this book out and I have to say @M.D. Gregory you should be so proud!

This book was softer than I expected and say that about a book that contains murder, prison stays and serious medical issues says a lot. The love and care that Sloans so overtly shows for Conall is beautiful 🖤

These two so clearly love each other to their bones and considering where they started it’s lovely to see. This book also made me cry twice but maybe I’m just a bad sub over for these two.

The softness is sandwiched between serious mob action and a few twists and turns I didn’t see coming. We also get some great cameos from our most love characters too and meet a few new ones as well 🐾🐾🖤

The newest book is a great addition and I didn’t expect it to snare me the way it has done.

I’m really looking forward to The Kingpin when it follows.

This book was worth the wait!!! It's an amazing follow-up of the Killough Company series, especially if you love Conall and Sloan. I love the continuation of theirs love story - they can't live without each other.

Seeing Sloan stuck in prison while Conall and Fionn try to hold the empire together gave me legit anxiety, but I knew they'd pull through in the end.
It really forces them both to step-up, and it shows how much trust Sloan has in them.
After 8 years together, finally hearing them admit their feelings, say "I love you," and Sloan propose to Conall was chef's kiss and Heartwarming.

There’s still plenty of drama (betrayals from inside the company, danger, and tension) but underneath it all, their relationship feels stronger than ever. For me, this book nailed the mix between bloody mob chaos and their love story finally getting that commitment.

I can't wait for the next book in the Company!!!!.

In this long awaited book, Fionn is in the hospital after a botched skirmish with the Reyes Cartel. Sloan unites with Conall before ending up in prison so Conall and Fionn must run the Irish Mob temporarily. The separation is killing Sloan and Conall. I love these two and their 8 year relationship where their need for each other is known but neither can bring themselves to tell the other they love them. Masculine pride and stubbornness at their finest is a flaw for both. I loved this book and Meg did a great job of bringing the guys back with a fresh plotline and all the possessive feels they own. One of my fave literary couples! I received a copy of this through BookSprout and this is my voluntary opinion.

I cannot get enough of Conall and Sloan. I am so excited that we get to come back to their world. I loved seeing how the bond between these two grows stronger and their place by each other’s side is cemented. Not only do we get to see the emotional upheaval for both men we also get to see the toll that it takes on the Company. There is a lot of emotion in this story and parts of it are intense. With all that is thrown at Sloan and Conall they will either be the strongest they ever will be or it will destroy them completely. I quickly got lost in this book and cannot wait to return to this world and see what comes next for the Killough Company.

Emotional commitment

Finally, these two are talking about their relationship.
It's been a long time coming and I absolutely devoured every look, every touch, every declaration.
There's the usual mafia background with Sloan in prison and Connor having to take the helm but thankfully he's been around enough to know the daily ins and outs.
He and Fion also seem to be getting along better as well.
This was more of a relationship building story and I absolutely want more of them.

I didn't like that there were characters and references to events from another series that seemed important, and therefore I couldn't quite follow some things. I won't be reading that other series, though, because it features a polyamorous relationship, what I don't like at all. So I'm left with the feeling that I missed out on something, which diminished my reading pleasure. Also, I found the whole thing with the illness somewhat unnecessary; I wanted to see a badass Conall, not hallucinations.

I really enjoyed this story. The world building is amazing in this series and the characters are amazing and so interesting. This is the fifth book in this series and really needs to be read in order. This is such a fantastic and intricate series with all of the characters intertwining with each other. I can’t wait for the other stories.

I have missed having Conall and Sloan front and center! These two are my favorite part of this huge world. Conall always has something to say, and the way it comes out always is spectacular. He balances off of Sloan with perfection. There was still constant danger and violence surrounding them, but Conall never misses a beat. For me these two are the eternal HFN!

Great story

I’ve always loved Conall and his sassy attitude! I adore him and Sloan together and how soft Sloan gets for him. I love this world and this was a great addition to it all. Sweet Lor…I am worried for him. He’s always so quiet but it’s the quiet ones that are either the most fun or the most dangerous…I can’t wait for his story!

Nothing will beat the first book in this series.

As always I don’t think the authors are capable of writing bad books.
Although I’m only ever interested in Conall and Sloan tbh. Im looking forward to their next book. I only gave 4 stars because I think forgiveness was given too fast (trying hard not to spoil anything).

Conall morrissey is always recommended and so is Sloan killough.

So happy to be back in the world of Killough Company and reading about my favorite couple! It has been 8 years since the first book and they are still going strong, though they are currently separated with Sloan in jail and lots of enemies trying to take over. It is full of angst as Conall tries to navigate everything with the help of Fionn.

Can't wait for the next book!

They finally addressed their feelings for each other. It was long overdue. Too bad that it happened right after Sloan got locked up.

Connor taking over in Sloan’s absence was a given since he knew the ins and outs of the business better than anyone.

I liked that the focus was mostly on them and not the mafia aspect of the story.

This book was the best outcome for Sloan and Conall that I could have ever hoped for. It brought so much more than we’ve seen before - Conall’s strength and Sloan’s softness. To hear (finally!) that Sloan loves his pet is absolutely everything. Wonderful story and I adore this series so much!

A highly anticipated book and this does not disappoint.
With Sloan in prison, his pet Conall needs to step up and run things with his nephew Fionn. It’s a good thing that Conall has been around for years now and has a lay of things in his own way.
A story of feelings finally being declared, mafia underworld, violence, danger, twists and turns.
A fantastic addition to this series.
