SPIDER-MAN's buried in unfinished business after his battle with Torment, Venom, and Carnage AND his long absence from Earth. Get his life back together? Later. Damage control at work? Not now. Time-traveling magical threat to all of space and time? Go, Spidey, go!
This one slows things down a bit after the big event. I enjoyed the sequence on the rooftop. Not much else going on in this issue. More prep for what is to come.
I rarely give Spider-man more than two stars. Partly, it's just because the book isn't very good. But, more than the overall quality, there are specific story elements that I absolutely cannot abide.
Norman's redemption arc? Nope.
Peter and Mary Jane continuing to not be married? Nope.
Writers thinking that I read comic books because I want to vicariously experience other people's financial problems? Nope.
And, as happened with this issue, the continued character assassination of Ben Reilly, my all-time favorite spider person? Nope.
I liked how this one tied back into Eight Deaths. Cool way to do that. If I can’t have Pete and MJ together, I honestly don’t mind Pete and Raelith, she’s a fun character. This issue was a good reminder for Pete to get back up and keep going. We all need those from time to time. I also like Kintsugi quite a bit, I hope we get to see more of him.
Why can't we keep the story going on to the next adventure and have these meaningless filler issues? It was acceptable when I used to spend 25 cents on comics, but now we are talking about 4.99!
