Sometimes the hardest love to walk away from… is the one that’s always been waiting.

In The Cowboy’s Brother’s Best Friend by Lana Bloom, Savannah returns to Ridgemont intending to stay just long enough to help her mother recover — a brief pause before heading back to her carefully controlled life in Denver. She’s prepared for familiarity, routine, and a clean emotional distance.

She isn’t prepared for Travis Rhodes.

Her best friend’s older brother has always been the quiet constant in the background — steady, guarded, and devoted to the ranch that defines him. He’s not the man who chases. He’s the man who endures. But the moment Savannah steps back into his world, the restraint between them starts to feel less like maturity… and more like unfinished history.

Their connection builds through small moments: instinctive protection, unspoken understanding, and the kind of tension that comes from years of carefully avoiding what both already know. Travis doesn’t make grand declarations — he shows up, again and again, whether it’s handling a spooked horse or standing firm against threats to the ranch. And slowly, Savannah realizes leaving might be harder than staying.

The romance shines in its quiet intensity. It’s not about sudden passion but about recognition — two people realizing they’ve always mattered more to each other than they allowed themselves to admit.

What you’ll find inside:

Brother’s best friend tension

Small-town ranch atmosphere

Protective, emotionally reserved cowboy

Slow-burn longing finally breaking

Choosing where — and with whom — home truly is

By the end, the story isn’t just about crossing a line… it’s about discovering it was never really there to begin with.

⭐ A heartfelt, cozy western romance perfect for readers who love soft tension, steady devotion, and love that feels inevitable rather than accidental.

The Cowboy's Brother's Best Friend by Lana Bloom is the first title in the Ridgemont Ranch series and it was a good read.
It's a short steamy, small town, cowboy romance ideal for a breaktime read or afternoon curled up on the sofa.
The main characters were engaging with Travis, a grumpy cowboy who carries the weight of his family's ranch and trains horses with quiet seriousness, and Savannah, curvy, younger and the best friend of Travis' younger brother Nash. Savannah has had a crush on Travis for years and left Ridgemont for Denver and her photography career in the hopes that her crush would dim but is returning to care for her mother for several weeks. A quiet few weeks with her mother and catching up with Nash gets off to a bad start as soon as she arrives at the bus station where Travis is there to pick her up. The intensity of Savannah's crush is as strong as ever and the heat between them only grows as they spend more time in each other's company. Travis has been holding himself in check for years regarding Savannah but sparks ignite and their sizzling chemistry only intensifies. He looks at Savannah as though she belongs on the ranch and Savannah thinks it is going to be difficult to leave for Denver when her mother recovers.
The slow burn vibe of the story is well written and the steam and spice all contributed to keep me turning the pages to see how their HEA comes about.

This is a love story that has taken years in the making, call it maturing and growing. Travis and Savannah have known each other since forever, she is his brother's best friend. They have always been attracted to each other in silence, and when she returns to town to care for her mom, they will have their chance at love.

Travis is the steady presence, the glue behind the family, the one who welcomes the weight of home, and the one who cares. Savannah is the observer, the dreamer, the one capturing life as a photographer. She sees him and understands his fears and feelings. He feels her presence, and it helps to carry the weight. Together they are passion and sense. He wants to stay in the farm, and will find home with her in the land he loves.

A great steamy read!.
