Book 2 of a fast-paced new Isekai LitRPG Adventure featuring a rune-based magic system, dungeon delving, an intelligent MC, deep worldbuilding, unforgettable characters, kingdom-building, and so much more.
Perfect for fans of Arcane, Return of the Runebound Professor, and Rune Seeker!
I was totally disappointed with this book. The MC is such an idiot and not in the nice way. He is constantly trying new things right in the middle of a battle. Just because he’s curious. He dropped his shield just to see if he could take a hit. He also plays around with his opponents just to test his ability. I got about 60 percent of the way through when I quit. I was going to quit at about 50 percent when he absorbed the slime and took on slime abilities. I have never liked it when heads can be regenerated. And that’s basically what happened. But it was the mind numbing tedious things that he was doing for the next 10 percent that got me. Whoever wrote the prologue about it being a fast paced book should get a smack in the back of the head. They were not reading this book at all
While it's slower than the first, it's more methodical in its engineering development as well as the characters magical development. This is the first stage of specialization for the MC. I did feel as though it wasn't necessarily pushing the plot forward enough to justify its end point, and it comes in about the same length (technically shorter) as the first, but the side characters have some deeper development. In a 3rd person story with short perspectives, I'd expect them to be a little fuller. There's also a continued issue with repetition of exact textual sentences that I believe a good editor would push back on.
This story is very hard to predict. The storylines branched so many times my head’s spinning. It started with the typical izek into a dying noble who’s a drunken pos. Then our guy invents a new soap. Then he gets a very powerful sponsor that seams to have evil powers. Then he saves the day and becomes part slime. Interesting Read
3.5* not as good as the first book, but I’m still curious for the next one. This whole slime arc wasn’t my thing… and I missed Opie and Wynd.
Book 3 (13.06. on RR): The Tournament is rather boring, even Theodore finds it boring…. Theo is way stronger than everyone else. And where are all the others who were supposed to join the tournament? Roland, his sister und some of his brothers?
Also, there are so many lost storylines by now that I don’t even care anymore.
I’ve just finished book 3. It was okay - 3.5*
Note: the author is taking a break from this story and isn’t sure if he’ll continue in the future. (Royal Road)
So far I am really enjoying this series all the characters and mechanics are all pretty interesting. Nothing I dislike enough to mention looking forward to the next book
I enjoyed reading this book very much and I recommend this book very much to anyone who likes LitRPG and progression types of books with lots of action.
I really love the series, MC is getting better I like the new characters (not like the specific characters) but the fact you hear different povs and just Random peoples opinions or feelings about things. World is getting more interesting, can’t wait for book 3 Audio, it’s been fun to read along the performance of the reader was great but wished he had a partner for the female voices, his are sooo similar unfortunately, male voices he’s got it down. Overall 5 fun to hear Engineering terms and crafts and people’s reactions to his creations. Definitely worth the credits
