Canon kept them apart. But we turned them into dragons and gave them a happy ending. Because Canon Sucks.

If you asked Rowan Rangecroft, what the biggest issue in his life was a month ago, he’d tell you his plant horde was looking a bit droopy, and he wished he could gather the courage to tell his dragon dad that maaaybe his master plan for his future wasn’t exactly what he wanted.

If you asked Rowan Rangecroft that same question today, he’d tell you it was a silver-haired beanpole of a person who tied himself to a tree on Rowan’s family business’s property and then BIT HIM when he tried to get him to leave.

Oh, and did he mention that this menace was a dragon but hadn’t realised that fact yet?

Milo is an enigma. He talks too much, he feels too much, and he hides too much. Rowan likes none of it. Except for when he absolutely does.

Additional tags: They’re dragons your honor, Biting as a meet cute, Tetanus shots, anyone? Found family vibes, of the geriatric variety, But also dragon family vibes, Ethel has knitting needles and no patience, Andrew has no last name, we couldn’t be bothered, THEY’RE MATES, MAYBE??, grumpy x annoyance, Milo has 3 jobs 5 cans of energy drink and a gallon of coffee, no he doesn’t have a problem, Milo is a Stanley cup girly-pop, but it’s straight espresso, he still doesn’t have a problem, Rowan is the dragon sensei against his will, Rowan is a fail dragon, Rowan will lose his cool fifteen times a day, please send help.

Dragon AU is a MM fanfiction style novel, based on the Canon short story written by AM Rose for the multi author series Because Canon Sucks. In Canon, Milo and Rowan miss out on their happy ever after, so this series strives to give them one in every other universe.

I’m starting to feel like I say this about most of my reads, but as a true AM fan, I absolutely devoured this one!

I loved Milo and Rowan, and in true AM fashion, the writing is hilarious, packed with giggle-inducing moments, yet surprisingly emotional at times- the perfect balance for me. My grumpy Rowan is secretly SUCH a softie, while my absolutely unhinged Milo kept me entertained from start to finish. I have to admit, I fell in love with both of these characters from the very first chapter! <3

PS: Please read the authors’ notes! They added an extra layer of fun to the story and gave me exactly the fanfic energy I didn’t know I was missing. Highly, highly recommend this one! ✨

Trope highlights:
* Grumpy x grumpyish orange cat (chaos MC)
* Power bottom
* Fated mates
* Banter
* Dislike to lovers
* Insta lust
* Touch them and die

Spice highlights:
* Chest fucking
* Feminisation talk (calls them tits)
* Fully shifted fuck
* Flying fuck
* Coming untouched from nipple play

Genre: urban fantasy romcom
Spice: 2 - 3 peppers
Other person drama: brief and not serious misunderstandings over a friend, a waitress and a brother
Species: dragon shifters
Angst: low

AM Rose are back to their romcom best and I absolutely adore the whole unhinged ride! Buckle up because this is a dragon romance as you've never seen it before, and it is everything!

We have secret softies in the grumpy Rowan, a ruby dragon who is trying to knock down the building that Milo - the "I just need more coffee" flying by the seat of his pants human (or is he?) - lives in with his collection of old people. It's hate at first bite (or is it?). Milo may be a little feral, ok? And that's why we love him.

But as they get to know each other through being continually running into each other - hmmm suspicious - Milo realises there might be more to Rowan than meets the eye and Rowan realises that... well, Milo is a force of nature and Rowan is just along for the ride so he may as well enjoy himself. There is no escape.

I loved the way their story unfolded, how we got to know both characters and see that they're both misunderstood in their own ways and needed a soft place to land. It was so sweet to see them find that with each other. This is definitely opposites attract but they are perfect together.

As always the humour is on point, and I laughed until I wheezed several times. I desperately need stickers of several quotes! The whole thing is just very fun, low angst and feel good. We also have a brilliant cast of secondary characters who really flesh out every scene and I'd love to see some of them get books too. I loved Milo's old people found family so so much.

The take on dragons was also so interesting and you can expect half shifted and fully shifted forms, scenting, nesting, FSF and lots of popping claws and wings. Also a crime against dessert which I'm still salty about!

This is also one of AM Rose's spiciest books and I nearly rated it 3 peppers. The spice is great particularly the big spice scene at three quarters through the book. Talk about hot!

Overall this is a wonderful urban fantasy romcom and should appeal to anyone who loves shifter romances, low angst storylines, or opposites attract dislike to lovers. A great intro to AM Rose's writing!

I was lucky enough to beta read and then arc read this wonderful book, and these are my honest opinions given voluntarily.

Well this was just as epic as I hoped it would be. Honestly, I really should make A.M. Rose's backlist a priority on my TBR, because there are far too many their books that I haven't read yet. Is it too late to make a new year's resolution? Or maybe one for the second half of the year? Yeah, let's go with that. A.M. Rose has not disappointed me so far and I doubt they ever will. This was all kinds of amazing and I loved it so much.

First of all, this whole series is an ode to fanfiction and honestly, it's brilliant. With the author notes sprinkled throughout at the start and end of a chapter and just the sheer unhinged fanfiction feel, there was nothing about this concept that didn't speak to me. A.M. Rose kicks the series off with their version of an alternate universe for Rowan and Milo (if you haven't read Canon, you should! It's even free and it's short so there's no excuse not to) and it includes dragons! I love dragons. Who doesn't, right?

A.M. Rose's author notes had me laughing every time, and they were definitely a highlight, but the characters really stole the show. The side characters made me hope to get more of them in the future, just because I don't want to say goodbye to them yet and there are a few whose HEA's I really really need, okay? But obviously Rowan and Milo stole my heart the most. Rowan is grumpy and adorable, Milo is caffeinated chaos, but in an endearing way. These two just... GAH. I'm so glad I'll get different itterations of their story in this series because they're just fantastic, okay?

Dragon AU is fantastic, unhinged, hilarious, brilliant, wonderful, hot, and one of my favorite reads of the year so far. Highly recommend this!

Sidenote: definitely rooting for this new Avengers Squad. Move over, old Avengers! The new and improved squad is coming! Just... you know... give them a minute. It takes them a while to get there. But when they do, you'll be amazed!

〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️

I absolutely adored this book! 😭 Reading the rest of these authors' books has officially become a need after finishing this one 🫶🏻

I completely loved Milo and Rowan! I lost count of how many times I cracked up at their dialogues and absurd situations, which made the book so incredibly entertaining and good😂 I also have to say that the side characters were a massive bonus because they added that perfect touch of humor and the found family dynamic that I love so much haha.

Milo definitely won me over from the very first moment he appeared, and the way Rowan just went along with him (knowing that going against him would get him nowhere) made everything ten times funnier.

Honestly, I wouldn’t mind at all reading more about this world and all those couples that kept being mentioned throughout the book 🤭✨.

Disclosure: I received a complimentary Advance Review Copy (ARC) of Dragon AU by A.M. Rose in exchange for an honest review.

If you’ve ever felt personally victimized by a canon ending that robbed your favorite characters of their happy-ever-after, A.M. Rose have the antidote. Based on the Because Canon Sucks multi-author series,

Dragon AU is an MM fanfiction-style novel that takes Rowan Rangecroft and Milo—two characters who tragically miss their chance at love in the original story—and gives them the chaotic, dragon-filled redemption arc they deserve.

Rowan just wants to manage his plant hoard and figure out how to tell his dad, Rupert, that he isn't exactly thrilled with his life plan. Then Milo—a silver-haired menace fueled by pure espresso and panic—shows up, ties himself to a tree on Rowan's property, and proceeds to bite Rowan when asked to leave. Did I mention Milo is a dragon who hasn't realized it yet? Rowan is a reluctant dragon sensei fighting to keep his cool, while Milo is a disaster-human working three jobs and vibrating with nervous energy.

This book is genuinely, uncontrollably funny. Between the snappy dialogue and the hilarious chapter-end notes, I was crying from laughter. The grumpy x annoyance dynamic is perfection, and the obvious, blinding angst between these two idiots sharing one hardly functional braincell is so intense it’s almost painful. When they finally stop being oblivious and lean into their mate-connection, the intimacy is everything you’d want: laugh-out-loud fun, deeply intimate, and a quintessential forever-love kind of romance.

If you want found-family vibes (of the geriatric and dragon variety), bite-based meet-cutes, and a high-heat romance that will leave you grinning, this is an absolute must-read.

I am not a fanfic reader, so I almost didn't apply to arc read the series, but I am so glad I did! This book was amazing. I couldn't stop laughing at these adorable idiots and they were so achingly sweet that it actually made me cry. Milo is such a ray of light and he's blunt, takes no shit and cares for his people with such a level of devotion that it's inspiring. Rowan is a grumpy, workaholic, people pleaser with a soft heart and an impressive green thumb. I dare anyone to read this story and not fall in love with them, it's impossible! If there was ever a book written just for me, this is it. I loved every minute reading this, the character characters had me laughing and kicking my feet at all the crazy things they said and did. Milo is pure chaos with big ADHD energy. Rowan is big, hot and grumpy but secretly a cinnamon roll. And what’s a meet cute without a little biting? These two keep running into each each other and every time they seem to get a little more unhinged. The “Dragonize me bitch!” seen took me all the way out lol. I swear the humor was top-tier the entire book. I wonder my absolute favorite things was the Rowan’s titties fan club that Milo is the CEO and President of. The spice was “chef’s kiss” perfect. Did I mention how much I love how much? Milo loves Rowan’s this beautiful bosom? The answer is ALOT.
The side characters are also very fun and quite hilarious. I love that Milo’s chosen family is a group of geriatric humans. And we love a supportive family, especially if they’re willing to stab someone with their knitting needles for you. Rowan’s family is a little overbearing, but they mean well. Once these two idiots realize they’re meant to be. Everything comes together and things go much smoother for them. They are such a cute couple and I love that they get a very happy ending. This is one of my favorite books and I will definitely be reading it over and over. It’s super fun and super hot and you don’t want to miss out. I would like to thank the authors for letting me read this early and writing such an amazing book.

This book felt like reading the most unhinged fanfic at 2am and realizing it's somehow become one of your favorite reads. And don't even get me started on the author's notes. Absolutely brilliant. Unhinged sometimes. Made me laugh every single time.

I am genuinely convinced Milo was created in a lab specifically to give Rowan high blood pressure.

This book was chaos from start to finish and I loved every second of it.

The moment Milo BIT Rowan, I knew exactly what kind of ride I was about to be taken on. And somehow it only got more ridiculous from there.

What I loved most was that beneath all the humor, there was so much heart.

Milo spent his entire life taking care of everyone around him. Working multiple jobs. Burning himself out. The way he loved those seniors, fought for them, protected them, and made sure they were okay absolutely wrecked me.

And Rowan. Watching this giant grumpy dragon completely lose control of his carefully organized life because one silver-haired menace tied himself to a tree was just glorious.

The dragon discovery storyline was one of my favorite parts. It was funny as hell, but there was also something really emotional about Milo realizing he never truly knew who he was.

The found family was EVERYTHING.
Ethel is an icon. Nobody can convince me otherwise.

This book wasn't trying to be profound literature.
It was trying to make you laugh, kick your feet, fall in love with the characters, and leave with a stupid smile on your face.
Mission accomplished. 100%

Also, I am still not over:
"Dragonize me, bitch."
That line deserves an award 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Absolutely freaking loved this! I'm a big fan of AM Rose's already, I think I've read all of their books, and this book perfectly showcases their world building, eclectic character relationships, and comedy value in a romance.
Milo is just a whirlwind of words, movement and crazy ideas, which is how he ends up chained to a tree on the site that Rowan's family want to build. I can't say it's the perfect meet-cute but it is definitely memorable, and both men can't forget each other. It's a fast paced story and so there is no hanging around as we go from enemies to lovers, to Rowan basically being told that he will be helping Milo to learn about himself. I have to say, I think more time is spent with clothes off than on, but they needed it. Their story is so much fun to read but also sweet and hot, a balance that the authors get just right.
Milo's Found family are such rag tag group of elders. I love them all dearly and their individual quirks are just what this story needed. The same could be said for Rowen's family but on a calmer scale!
What a perfect way to kick off the Because Canon Sucks series, it's made me need the others even more. I cannot recommend this enough!
Oh! The author mentions at the beginning about not reading the author notes at the beginning or end of chapters (the story is written in the style of fan fiction) if you don't want to but they definitely bring something more to the reading experience. I felt right there with them as I was making my way through the story.
And a note to A and M, we definitely need those stickers!
I received an ARC and am happily giving a review.

How cute is this book? Very.

Since I read “The Frog Prince“ by A.M. Rose I knew this duo of authors writes monster romance in a hot way. And this story proved to me they manage no matter if half frog half human (the fairytale retelling) or dragon shifters (this book).

Dragon AU is part of a multi author series in the form of fan fiction based on a canon story (that can be read online for free). And I really enjoyed it: creative freedom, all-in style and notes for the reader. Very authentic.

Milo and Rowan meet under specific circumstances: Milo chains himself to a tree on the property Rowan‘s company wants to build something on - but Milo‘s elderly friends would face eviction as a side effect. To show his feelings he bites Rowan … and the chaotic and cute storyline starts: They keep meeting by chance and their sexual tension grows. (And the jealousy. Had to remind myself that that’s probably because of them being dragons or something …)

What makes me like Milo: he cares for his circle and makes sure their needs are met.
What makes me like Rowan: He’s a big dragon who hoards plants and reads to them.
What makes Milo like Rowan: His tits.
What makes Rowan like Milo: He‘s probably confused about it.

❤️ Big compliment to the authors to also mention prevention of STDs, even though they wouldn’t necessarily NEED to in a monster romance about dragons. I think that’s a really good thing in 2026, when numbers of STDs are rising. ❤️

I got an advanced reader copy, thank you to the authors! ; this is my honest opinion.

Content Notes:
one MC grew up in the foster care system (not on page), one side character has dementia, on page sex scenes, feminization (“t!ts“)

This is hands down the best rom-com I've read in a LONG time!!

Dragon AU is a part of the Because Canon Sucks series, a series where a bunch of talented authors came together to write wonderful standalone stories that I cannot wait to read! Dragon AU is technically the second book I've read in this series because I beta read another one BUT! 'Officially' this is the first one.

I haven't read a lot of books by this dynamic duo but whenever I have read their books I've enjoyed them, and y'all this book is in my top 5 for this year. The writing flowed so seamlessly, the humor, the dialogue, the witty and playful author notes plus the recipes they included all just combined together to create this masterpiece!

I am obsessed with how these authors wrote their versions of Rowan and Milo, they are both so vastly different from each other but pair so well together! I also thought the whole concept of Milo not knowing he was a dragon was really cute, and how even though Rowan knows dragon history he had no idea he and Milo were mates until Ruben pointed it out.

All in all this story was fantastic and I really enjoyed reading it! Also, AM Rose, if y'all are seeing this.. Could you please make the world you created in this book into a series, please? I'd love to see this eclectic hoard of characters again AND I'm very curious about what happens between Ray and Ruben.

""“You don’t have to thank me for anything. Thank you for being you, Milo Tobitt.”"

Firstly, I want to thank the authors for giving me an ARC read. With that being said, this review is my own.
Because the vibes of these book are suppose to give the feel of a fan fiction, I am rating them on a bite of a different scale.
With that being said, I really enjoyed this book— It was my first time reading a Dragon book and I discovered quite a few things about myself that I didn’t know I liked 🤭
It’s also a pretty quick read that had me giggling and sometimes cackling because of how amused I was.
It was also very heartwarming what Milo’s hoard turns out to be, which I thought was really sweet.
I also loved the author notes that were given throughout the book as well.

**********Contains Spoilers**********

I’m very to AM Rose’s work and I’m looking forward to reading more. I enjoyed this book and thought that it was a good start to the multi-authored Because Canon Sucks Series. This book is based on the short story Canon written by AM Rose for this series. In Canon, Milo and Rowan miss out on their happy ever after, so this series strives to give them one in every other universe. I thoroughly enjoyed reading the authors notes at the start & end of each chapter, they made me smile. I just absolutely adored Rowan & Milo and even though they seemed so different they were absolutely perfect for each other.

Rowan is the best plant daddy ever & Milo and his weird hoard of old people who mean absolutely everything to him, he runs himself basically into the ground to make sure they have a home, money for essentials, healthy and happy. My heart hurt for Milo when he had no idea that he was a dragon but it was great when he finally learnt how to be his true self. I can’t say much more else but this book just made me happy and it was ridiculous in the best possibly way. I’m looking forward to reading Robot AU next, as well as more books by AM Rose in the future. I’d recommend this book, series and author to others.

******I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author. I would still happily review this book even if I purchased it myself. My thoughts and feelings about this book are completely unbiased******

Really like the setup. I didn’t grow up with fanfic (I wasn’t cool enough or the right kind of nerd… or something 🙄) so I appreciate the authors creating - and explaining - that experience for me. I mean, yeah, I’ve found fanfic since then, and follow some authors whose ficbits/commentfic/etc. and AUs bring me great joy, but most actual fanfic is about things I haven’t watched, so…

Anyway. On to the rest of the review.

I loved the original Canon setup (Ethel and the pretzels… Rowan and the tuna wrap… 🤣) and its ending was brutally perfect. And now, I am delighted that this was my jumping-off point into the various AUs.

As for the dragon AU… awwwwww, 🥰☺️😍 Rowan and Milo were both totally adorable. On the surface totally different but complementary marshmallows inside. Poor Rowan is so grumpy and so dang SHY. Adorable! (Yeah, yeah I used that word already but I didn’t like any of the synonym-ish words I could think of to replace it here.…) The notes between chapters were PERFECT… as was the story… and as Milo and Rowan weren’t, other than perfect for each other. 😏 Super fun read and a great story. Grateful for the ARC opportunity so I didn’t have to wait any longer!

Looking forward to the robot AU and all the others!!!

Amazing! Ridiculous in all the best ways! This was an excellent tribute to fanfic (those notes!) while also just being an all around great story. I finished it, went back the next day just to reread the meet-bite (bite-cute?) and accidentally ended up rereading the entire book. And I’m not even sorry about it. Milo was a whirlwind of chaos, fueled by determination, questionable (but hilarious) logic and lots of caffeine. Rowan was much more serious to start, but an absolute darling underneath. And Milo’s hoard was so perfect. This story perfectly balanced silly and sweet and the end result was basically a giggly-snuggly hug in book form.

You don’t need to read the original Canon story to enjoy this book, although it’s cute and quick and worth reading (despite the unsatisfying ending). And I REALLY hope that A.M. Rose continues writing in this world as I so badly want to read Cornelius and Terry’s story! Cornelius was just so cute in the little peaks we got of him. Please give him a story!!!

I received a free copy of this book from the author and am voluntarily leaving a review.

This world AM has set up is SO AWESOME. Make sure you read the Canon story through AM first so that you get the full experience!

This truly gave me the exact feelings I've had while going through my favorite fanfics. It was so incredibly fun, with giant personalities, and it even had AMAZING notes at the end. I loved how I could still see the personalities from the original canon story but how AM still put a new spin to have it truly feeling like a ff AU.

It starts out really high humor and a tad ridiculous (which again, so true for so many fanfiction), but at some point it started being so so much more than that (do not worry Milo is still ridiculous and we would not want him ANY other way). It became sweet and steamy and I CRIED (one day I will read an AM book and there will be no tears). I truly adored how this one worked out and loved all the little leads Rose left in to hopefully give us more in the future!

Dragon AU
Rowan is a business man who also is a dragon shifter he’s a business man He’s in his office when he receives a phone call stating someone was chained to a tree on his property . His temper get the best of him and his dragon appears makes a mess in his office to go out to see who was chained to the Tree

Milo is upset about things being destroyed. He’s also in denial about being a dragon as well. He continues to bumped into Rowan and testing his patience. Rowan is the one who confirmed that he was indeed a dragon. Rowan takes Milo under his wings and teaches him. Milo is bratty I love that about him.

Rowan and Milo are in each book across this series of fan fiction books.

Rowan and Milo are so funny the banter between them is top tier. I can’t wait to see what Rowan and Milo have in store.

This is the first book of the because cannon sucks series
I truly enjoyed this book

I read Canon, the free short story behind this series and thought 'what a great idea'. I'll be honest, I've never written or read fan fiction, but this book was exactly what I would expect it to be. It was a little chaotic, it didn't always make sense, but it had loads of heart and a daft, but ultimately great storyline.

Milo was described as chaotic, I suspect he was actually suffering from chronic ADHD, but maybe I'm projecting. Either way, he was a lot of fun to read and I was so able to relate to him. Rowan was hysterically grumpy about everyone and everything, but bless him, he had his reasons. I really enjoyed the twists and turns and the weird author notes in each chapter.

As a published novel it was ok, but as fan fiction, it was brilliant - which I guess is exactly what it's supposed to be. 4.75*

Dragon AU is part of the multi author Because Canon Sucks series. Each book can be read as a standalone but why not enjoy the whole series. This is the story of Rowan a dragon shifter and Milo a human (or is he). This was just a sweet fun story. I loved this version of Rowan and Milo. I couldn't put this book down once I started it. I loved watching these two get together and learn more about each other as they built a relationship. I loved the side characters almost as much as Rowan and Milo. The humor was just as wonderful as you would expect from A. M. Rose. I enjoyed the steam and chemistry between these two. I hope that in the future A. M. Rose gives us some stories about some of the side characters. I would definitely recommend this book as a 5 star read.

I had SO much fun reading Milo and Rowan's story!!

The whole fanfic thing is new to me, I haven't read any before and I can't say I'm in a mad rush to go find more now because I don't really think it's my thing, but this was a really fun story and I really enjoyed the author comments throughout the book.

Milo and Rowan were so funny together. I loved bitey Milo and how chaotic he was, and I loved how sensible Rowan was and how much he blushed around Milo. Their hoards were so cute too and not something I've seen before - I loved Rowan's hoard and the way he took care of it!

I'm looking forward to seeing how other authors give Rowan and Milo an AU HEA though!

*****
I received an ARC of this book from A.M. Rose, and this is my honest review

“There is a tree. There is a guy. There are chains. Guy used chains to attach himself to tree.”

Oh my goodness!!! What a delightful book. This duo of authors is amazing. Such a talented pair that's for sure. I loved everything about this book. I can't wait to read the 10 other stories, written by 10 different authors, that will each give Milo and Rowan the HEA that they didn't get in Canon. Did I mention how clever and sneaky these 2 authors were? They knew exactly what they were doing when they created such a sucky ending to that short story called Canon. What an ingenious way to get authors and readers worked up. Hats off to A. M. Rose.

Read this, you won't be disappointed!!!

This is the first book in the Because Canon Sucks series and it's a great one to start with.

Rowan is a dragon, working for his father's company, being made ready to take over when his father retires. He is trying to tear down a residence in order to build a showcase of other dragons hoards. Milo has chained himself to a tree outside the residence to prevent this.

What follows is laugh out loud as Milo and Rowan find themselves meeting up all the time, in restaurants, coffee shops, the list goes on. Their antagonistic behaviour doesn't improve until Milo sees a waitress flirting with Rowan and decides that enough is enough.

It's a great tale with laugh out loud moments. As always, another good yarn from the pens of A.M. Rose.

I received an ARC copy of this book. This is also my first read by this author as well as this style of book. Rowen and Milo make an unlikely pair. Rowen is a business man and a dragon shifter. Milo is a man who is working 5 jobs to keep his senior friend housed and cared for. Milo chains himself to a tree to stop Rowens' company from tearing down the building he lives in with his friends. They form an instant dislike for one another. Through several humorous run ins, they develop an attraction to each other. They also realize Milo is also a dragon shifter and what that means for his geriatric friends. This book will have you laughing out loud. Great book. I will definitely be reading more from this amazing author.

First of all I laughed throughtout this whole book and highlighted more sentences than I ever have. Proper out lout laughing in a way that made my partner check if I was ok.

I absolutely need a sticker that says "Dragonize me, bitch." And I plan on using this phrase in everyday life as much as possible.

I very much enjoyed the fanfic style. I completely missed this growing up but it was so fun to read all the notes at the end of the chapters.

This was a cracking read, so funny, but also great connection between the characters. The random awkward possessiveness and jealousy was also so cute and lead to many funny accidental flambéing of things.

Great job and totally recommend for anyone who needs a fun read.

Dragon AU is the first book in the Because Canon Sucks series

Rowan is a dragon who works for his father’s company (almost all of his siblings work there), which handles construction projects. In one of the buildings where they’re going to do construction work, there’s a boy named Milo who lives with a group of elderly men he’s trying to protect from being evicted.

It sounds really serious, but I had a blast reading it. Milo is super funny, by the way—there’s more to him than meets the eye.

It follows the structure of fanfiction, and as a fanfic reader, I think it captures that perfectly.

I can't wait to read the next books in the series.

What do you mean Rowan might be an evil capitalist developer and also a giant dragon?? I canNOT.

Shout out to A.M. Rose for truly channelling the fanfic spirit. The authors' notes had me cackling. I love knowing the authors are screaming right along with me...and I suspect it isn't just for the plot. Unless the plot is Rowan's "voluptuous" chest....In which case, yes, we are all equally invested in the plot. Then they have the audacity to hit me with heat and shifted mating. Believe me when I say I was LOCKED IN.

Thanks so much for the chance to check out an ARC! I'm leaving this review of my own accord.

Milo was struggling to keep himself and a small group of senior citizens alive, and when a dragon led developer wants to break down their home and leave them all homeless, Milo comes in action to try to save them. Both Milo and Rowan are very much misunderstood by those around them, and very clueless as to how to cooperate together to solve their problems. Milo found out some very unexpected things about himself, and his growing relationship with Rowan is particularly feral and fit them well. Milo's found family group is a real highlight.
Thanks for the advance copy, I am happy to leave a voluntary review.

Bloody hell this was brillaint in the weirdest way possible. You have the sweet summer child dragon shifter Rowan being harassed by human Milo. Milo is the epitome of sass who will fo anything and everything for his collection of octagenarians to keep their home safe from the company trying to destroy it. Seriously adored these two clueless men and how it was needed to be spelled out on how they are right for each other and their is a reason they cannot stay out of each other's orbits. A fun way to kick off this joyful Canon universe. Will add read the headers and footnotes so worth it for evenore enjoyment of the experience.

Omg this book was so much fun!

When I read about the Because Canon Sucks series, I thought the premise sounded so unique - 11 authors all taking a missed connection (the “Canon”) and fixing it in 11 different AUs, written in the style of fan fiction.

Dragon AU is the first book in the series, and I loved it! Rowan is the sweetest grump, and absolutely I adored the chaos demon that is Milo (and his hoard haha). The story was both sweet and funny, and I enjoyed every minute item of it!

Really looking forward to more in the series!
