King of Jealousy: A Possessive Billionaire Grovel Romance

Rate this book
“You have three months to live.”

When the doctor gives Amara Hawk her death sentence, it hurts less than the truth she has endured for a year.

The husband she had loved all her life never loved her back.

She had worshipped Elias Creed. Prayed for him. Dreamed of becoming his wife.

Her wish had come true. But reality was crueler than she ever imagined. He didn’t even want to touch her.

Everywhere she goes, people whisper—

“She’s just a spoiled princess.”
“A vicious woman who forced a billionaire into marriage.”
“A shameless girl desperate for a ring.”

The day Amara learns she is dying, she calls the man she loves most, her hands trembling.

He hangs up.

That night, she abandons her pride, her dignity, her self-respect—and begs him like a cheap woman to sleep with her.

He recoils from her as if she is poison.

In that moment, overwhelming humiliation spreads through her, breaking something she can never fix.

Soon after, he leaves the country.

She survives the surgeries alone.

She buries her love alone.

So when Elias finally returns, ready to claim his wife,

Amara has only one thing left to give him.

A divorce.

King of Jealousy is book one in the addictive Price of Regret series and can be read as a standalone. Dive into a world where billionaires are dangerously jealous, fiercely territorial, and used to getting everything they want. In this empire of pride and obsession, even the most powerful king must one day kneel.

This mmc made me hate the word “man” He’s one of the most insufferable characters I’ve ever read about... His actions were so ridiculous that they genuinely made me want to crack open his skull just to see how his brain works.. Are men really this emotionally stupid?? or did the author just throw in drama without putting any actual thought into it?

The story itself was a mess, as if the author kept forgetting what she had written a few chapters earlier. Why was the hero treating his wife with complete indifference and acting like he didn’t care about her at all when he had supposedly been in love with her for three years? Why did he give her a divorce so coldly, only to spend the very same day chasing after her, insisting she was still his wife, invading her personal space, and forcing his presence on her over and over again? Every chapter felt like he had a completely different personality, and the author never bothered to explain any of it.

What annoyed me even more was the way the author treated sex as the magical solution to every single marital problem. Was that genuinely her view of relationships, or did she just want an excuse to add more spicy scenes?

The fms wasn't much better. After everything he put her through, why couldn't she move on? Why did she keep allowing him to force his way back into her life? She constantly told him to stay away, yet the moment he touched her all her resolve disappeared!!! She spent the entire book repeating the same things over and over like a broken record☠️ She had no clear stance whatsoever she wanted everything and nothing at the same time.

What made it even worse was how easily she forgave him.. After all the mistakes he made, she went back to him as if nothing had happened !!! In my opinion some of his actions were completely unforgivable, yet the author brushed past everything as though she could erase the damage with the snap of a finger.. He didn’t suffer enough and he never faced consequences that matched the harm he caused.

And don't even get me started on the cheap Bianca drama because it was one of the dumbest plotlines I've read in a long time.

In the end, the only reason I enjoyed this book at all was because it helped pull me out of a reading slump. Unfortunately, that's not enough. The endless illogical behavior, the frustrating characters, and the disastrous ending completely ruined the experience for me. It felt like everyone got away with everything, and nobody was treated the way they deserved. For that reason alone, I don't think this book was worth my time.

Plot: wtf
Characters: wtf
Writing: could improve alot
Spice: did not save the book

The book did not make any sense. It's as if the book was written just to publish something.
I fought hard to finish but had to give upp at 66%.

ridiculous story

Oh for negative stars! Several HUGE problems.
#1. MC does not ever listen to FMC! Ever! She wants sex-no; no explanation. #2. Non consensual sex—EVERY TIME! 3. Coma’s don’t work like that and after being in a coma for years Zoe would have no muscles tone, probably more confusion than lucidity. 4. How do you love someone, care about them so much, but there is no conversation. It’s always his way or the highway. If he didn’t like what she said or did, he would pick her up or they’d have non consensual sex. It was never about her, always about him. 5. Poor Felix! Was he a personal assistant, a chauffeur, a maid, what? 6. His best friends? Really? Why?

Unbelievable

Minus ZERO stars for most pathetic female lead I’ve read yet. To think, there are people in real life just as bad or worse than this doormat.

Bully MMC, weak FMC

It actually started well, at least keeping me engaged and wondering what was happening but it quickly lost momentum for me after Elias left the country and even more so after the divorce. Weird encounters and a restaurant where Amara is wearing a mask? Elias is obviously jealous but we have no idea why since he ignored Amara the entire year of their marriage. So much to dislike here. If you're in love with your wife but don't intend to be intimate with her for some unknown reason, you could at least be kind rather mean, rude and verbally abusive. He's not there for her life threatening surgery. Does not accompany her to the cemetery for her grandfather's funeral? That's not love. Regardless of whatever is going on he could have chosen to be respectful at a minimum. After the way he treated her, she's still home when he gets back from ignoring her for 3 months? No phone calls, texts nothing that says he cares about her well being, what she's up to, just to hear her voice, nothing, nada. Nope, I'd already be packed and gone leaving the divorce papers waiting on the entry table where instead she's arranging flowers like nothing happened? Her "friend " sets her up with a friend of her ex? What kind of friend would that be that keeps Amara in the orbit of the man that hurt her? He "probably" wont traumatize you, Juliet says? The friend thinks being rich and hot is the only criteria for the man she wants her recently traumitized friend to hook up with???? Juliet is basically railroading Amara into the date. Hasn't Amara already been through enough? Basically this FMC let's everyone bulldoze her. She can't stand up for herself, AT ALL. She follows through with a divorce but then lets him repeatedly, physically carry her back to his house. MMC is a caveman and a bully. If this floats your boat, go for it. Not a drop of romance here. There is little to no meaningful, adult conversation to be had and never when it counts. Every single intimate encounter the MMC bullies his way into the bedroom like that will fix what he broke and she lets him. She repeatedly resists, struggles, trys to leave the bed, actually says "STOP", he does not. She actually begs him to remove a blindfold at one point and he refuses. He persists until she gives in which she always does. She's so sore after first night he has to take her to the hospital! Are you kidding me right now. SA is not romance. I don't understand these reviews. Goodreads users apparently have more self respect with a 3.4 average rating which is GENEROUS! It's all about MMC, what he wants, when he wants and he's going to use s#x instead of words. When the secret to his initial distance is revealed he has the gall to act like he is the wounded party? Nothing about his secret justfies how he treated her and she should have been advised of the issue instead of being a treated like a child. She could and should have been allowed to take a proactive part in her own health, taking steps to heal and get regular progress check ups. NOTHING about this is ok. " The doctor warned that your stress could make your injuries worse." You don't think ignoring her and abondoning her caused her STRESS????!!!!!!!!! Until she was medically cleared, he had the opportunity to offer affection, companionship and protection instead of rejection, abandonment and humiliation. He chose wrong and there is zero excuse. He professes to love her but apparently has no idea how to show that outside the bedroom. Then Amara feels guilty for all of it?? Is a man writing this story? Even after supposedly getting through the "misunderstanding" he still doesn't say he loves her, doesn't apologize until the very end. I guess I kept reading to see if he would finally give her what she needed but it never happened. He puts a ring on her finger but apparently doesn't require a "yes" response before heading back to, you guessed it, the bedroom. Maybe he loves her, he seems remorseful but there is still no respect. She's begs to stop because she's tired, he ignores her. She tries to leave the bed, he forces her to stay. Hopefully she doesn't need to use the restroom because she's not allowed to leave the bed, period. There is no dating, no romance, no affection, no conversation, no respect for her wishes, no proof that her life will be any different and that's the end. Proposal with zero response, she doesn't return his profession of love, just back to bed, the end. Wouldn't he want to hear a "yes", an
"I love you, too", "I forgive you, let's try again"? Nope, he's still not into conversation, him pushing and her giving in is their dynamic. Just, NO.

I've seen this authors books on IG and didn't take the bait, but I did with this one and while I did finish it, I needed to see if it got better or more eye rolling frustrating, I realized that this type of story isn't my kind of read. I'm all for angst and drama but this was OTT and not in a good way for me.
Amara could have been a strong character, she had her moments, and I get that she LUUUVVVSSS him, but she should have called the cops on him with how many times he abducted her and forced himself on her.
Elias is just toxic. He's emotionally stunted and his "obsession" is not heartwarming or panty dropping and the author pulled all kinds of crazy out of her rabbit hole to make him a sympathetic character, but it didn't work for me. Because for all the power & influence he apparently has and the people he has at his beck and call, he is simply clueless. He is a HUGE red flag.
I tried. I did. But as much as I love the psychos and all that, this one is just a huge no for me.

This writer should stop writing and reflect for once.
Fmc didn’t wanted to have sex with mmc, but he forced her everytime, for the author info if she is reading this, its called rape
Nonsense story, nonsense writing, nonsense character, nonsense plot, nonsense story development, nonsense book.
Every chapter is same, if you still wanna read this book, just read 1st chapter and last chapter, you will get the whole story without missing any single thing.

That’s all i have to say. Idk what bad karma i did in my life to read this book.

Wow. Horrendous writing, poor character development, actual assault after being told no repeatedly…these are the books that should be considered dangerous. They teach impressionable people that the actions of the characters are acceptable when they are not. It’s not possessive or romantic if the MMC is actually divorced by the FMC, then assaults her…after she repeatedly says no. It’s assault. It’s gross.

Could not finish after the first sex scene at 50%. Everything about this book was a massive disappointment and it should be a crime that it’s being marketed to a younger female (early 20’s) readership. This book made me feel a little better about EL James’s books.

The characters were all unlikable except the FMC - she tried so so hard to get away from the MMC and live on her own terms but the MMC was very much "I can do no wrong, if I do wrong, it's always someone else's fault".

Even when the FMC was in the hospital (statistically speaking, when females are hospitalized, their partners are more likely to leave them) and getting ready to leave, he wouldn't let her because that would mean he had a weakness.

My biggest issue is that the MMC faces no consequences - the FMC, his wife at the time - was in an accident, she kept calling to tell him about this very important issue, and he never picks up because he's dealing with the other FMC. It's not until 90% of the way through we find out why he was dealing with the FMC, and the other FMC never faces consequences. All we know is that she will tell the FMC what actually happened and she takes the blame for the FMC being in the accident. We never find out what happens to the other FMC after that, and the MMC basically steamrolls the FMC into taking him back.

aweful

The story was weak, the reasons for his actions made no sense & the sex was violent, disturbing & uncomfortably graphic. The description of toys being used was unnecessary. No woman should willingly allow herself to be violated like this & return over & over for more. Her protests were laughable. MMC has major anger issues & has no redeemable character. Did not enjoy this book at all

This book is a mindfuck......each main character don't make sense......my thoughts about male lead behaviour throughout the book is either he is a psychopath/ split personality or simple a classic dumb. And don't start with the heroin she just plain doormat... classic plot hole..mainly ow after assaulting main lead just vanishes no consequences.....she would be insulting his wife and he would be just standing there doing nothing.....at one point I get that may be he needs the ow for blood...but for god's sake you r rich you can hire a permanent blood donor other than her who is constantly insulting your wife.....and also what with forcing himself on his ex wife through the whole book........ heroin would be reminding him they were divorced then the next second falling all over him......as I said a total mind fuck........

Reads like a PPC novel

Face palm. I DNF’d the book. This is not for me. FMC is spineless and so desperate. Her actions make cringe. Summary should be “how to be a desperate housewife with no self-respect”. MMC is the typical cold AH who neglects his wife and had the emotional capacity of a brick, but oh wait, he’s been so in love with the FMC this whole time. If you’re into those OTT Asian novels, this is right up your alley.

Just…not good.

It had no flow whatsoever, their conversations and motivation didn’t feel like real people, Amara is the hugest doormat to ever live, the hero is so unlikable, I could go on…

I hate being totally negative but I can’t think of anything I liked about this book. 😢

I made it through 44% of the book before I had to call it quits.

First, what is great about books is how you get to see into the minds and emotions of the characters. In this book you only get what they say or do. We as the reader don't even know what the character's know unless they say it outloud. Context clues are nowhere to be found. It is really hard to understand why our main characters care about each other at all. Let alone why the frustration on their levels of communication.

Second, Amara needs to get a restraining order and ban Elias from every single one of the businesses she owns/manages. The dude is following her, keeping tabs on her, making big displays that distrupt everyone else's days. Elias attempts to kidnap Amara, he absolutely threatens violence on his secretary, Felix, and he just... ignores her for 15 months and yet is upset that she asks for a divorce? If he's this prone to losing his temper and being threatening- how does anyone still do business with him? Why do other people think he's nice and caring? Why exactly does Amara get painted as a spoiled brat by society? None of those questions are answers.

Third- the inconsistencies in this book especially with things like the fireworks for celebrating Amara's divorce but then Elias claims they're eating lunch. Or when she wears a mask in a restaurant and they have security?? Is that a normal for high end restaurants to have bouncers??? Elias looking sexy when he's squinting from his irritated eye??? What is this nonsense?

I had to stop when Amara showed up for a blind date. Who is forcing Amara to go on a said date? Is she doing it as a favor for her friend? What is going on???

Look, if Elias was actually anything other than handsome and acting deranged, maybe I'd give this book more of a chance. We love a good villain. Hateable characters can still be enjoying to read. Elias is just gross and boring. Amara breathed? He's there and huffing like an enraged bull. How shocking.

Amara at first glance is interesting. Especially with her family circumstances. Her dad calls but we only hear from him once. Why is she managing things? What did she go to college for? Why is her grandfather's death so... emotionless and revolves around her thoughts of Elias? Like, she doesn't seem to actually mourn the loss of her family member or talk with any of her family at the funeral. We're told she had a life before she got married. Did is just stop after she got married? How exactly did she handle all her responsibilities and yet still have time to miss a husband who was never there???

So yeah. 1 star. Not a fun read. Boring prose. Lackluster characters.

Notes for me

Elias - CEO of Aoex Airlines

Amara

Married almost a year. She’s had a crush on him for years and was thrilled to marry him. They haven’t even kissed in that year.

At a VIP club she hears people saying she is a spoiled princess. Elias only married her because her grandfather begged him to. She’s devastated.

He shows up with a woman named Bianca on his arm. She leaves before he sees her.

She finds out she has a mass in her brain. It’s operable but dangerous because of the placement. She’s given 3 months to live. She calls him multiple times. He finally answers coldly. Says he went to the party alone. She doesn’t tell him about the tumor. Calls her best friend Juliette instead.

She is wearing lingerie when he arrives home at 3 am. She asks him to finally be intimate with her. He removes her hands and says they have plenty of time for that. Leaves for the office again

He returns to her obviously been crying all night. Tells him she wants a divorce, confronts him about Bianca, tells him to bring Bianca home and sleep with her. His expression shows panic for a second before it clears. He says no divorce and she can stay here and calm down. He’s leaving for a months long business trip.

She decided to have the surgery with Juliette by her side. Since she may not make it she swallowed her pride and called Elias once a week for four weeks. He never answered. She sends him small daily texts of Instagram he never sees or responds.

She has the surgery with Juliet by her side signing the papers with her maiden name. Sees a news story of Elias in Australia with his long time companion Bianca.

He returns after 3 months and she insists on the divorce. He’s upset but agrees.

There’s a side story of her in a serious accident she doesn’t really remember. Supposedly he wanted to marry her. They weren’t intimate because she had severe internal injuries. They didn’t tell her to save her worry. She took it as he wasn’t interested.

Also he used to be good friends with Maverick but they had a falling out. His sister Zoe was involved in the crash and has been hidden in a coma. Bianca gives her blood but it looks like an affair.

Oof, this was bad. Fun in a terrible soap opera you can't stop watching way, but bad. Rounding up to 2 stars because I finished it. The book begins when Amara and Elias have been married for a year. They haven't had sex and I guess that isn't weird to her because she's been in love with him for years. She overhears some "friends" talking shit about her and Elias does nothing. Then she gets hit by a car, goes to the hospital, and finds out she has a brain tumor giving her three months to live. Only wait, there's a surgery that will save her life, but she's scared. So she goes to Elias to beg him to finally consummate their marriage already, but he refuses. She loses it and demands a divorce and he thinks she's throwing a tantrum (there's a lot of people in this book, especially Elias, who accuse her of throwing tantrums and being spoiled, but the book never actually shows us why). Then he leaves for 3 months.

Not going to go in to the rest of the plot, but let's just say that just like in the prior book I read by this author, Jealous Billionaire’s Endless Regret, the plot makes no sense. And just like that book, this one also involves a sus car accident with insane bodily consequences. Oh, and after Ava's surgery, the tumor is barely mentioned again, so I guess that's all fine.

Without going into more of the plot because I'd absolutely be here all day and his review would go on for pages, I can't figure out if this author is AI, or if she is a real person whose first language isn't English and is just super-into OTT drama. The writing isn't great, the plotting is terrible, but the OTT drama and angst can be fun to read every once in a while. I had forgotten I'd read her before when I picked this up and I didn't make the connection until a few chapters in. I'm not sure I would have picked it up if I'd realized it was the same author.

If you are fan of marriage in trouble and grovelling husbands, this might be your book . First 4 chapters are good. You can feel her pain and understand her anger after that you feel something is wrong . Her husband tries to understand her change of heart ,constantly reminding himself " she loves me she always corrects people when they don't call her Mrs.Creed "I want to ask is he too dumb to understand how he many times he ignored her calls or stayed out of the house for months . Furthermore, his explanation of her health situation is laughable.by the way we her grandpa forced him to marry her but by the end of book he confessed his deep love even before her grandpa forced him. Honestly I don't know if he forced him especially both of them are billionaires and no conflict is mentioned . His grovel is weird it is like a kid who throw a tantrum every second instead of an adult who is working tirelessly to reconcile. The other woman drama was a smart move to add something to the book unfortunately it was poorly used in this book . His best friend and his sister i don't know may be they will have each one of them book in this series that is why they are introduced because they seriously they didn't add anything to the book. The writer here has a talent but she needs to plan her book well

What did I just read? Anyone who gave this more than 1 star is either illiterate, crazy or being paid. This may be the west book I’ve ever read. I would suggest it’s AI, but I think AI would write a better book honestly.

I don’t know if the author is punking us, was going through a life crisis and just there some thing together to stay here editor or lost her mind, but this book was horrible at every level. The characters were cartoon caricatures—really unlikable, pathetic ones. The plot was ridiculous, with gaping plot holes and inconsistencies. The ending was so abrupt that I didn’t even realize the story had ended—did the editors or press lose the final chapters of the book?!

If I could give less than one star I would do so. I’m literally speechless that this book was published—by anyone, even self-publishing. I will avoid this author like the plague going forward. This was so bad it defies description.

This story was very unique and some parts actually pissed me off (in a good way). Amara what she wished for when she married the love of her life, Elias. But she felt like he hated her, he was never around and didn't touch her. How Elias acted at the beginning made me want to punch him. I'm glad she wanted out and she was ready to move on. But when she finally finds out why he was treating her poorly, it was really heartbreaking and I felt for him. She was still very confused and didn't know how to react. All the secrets that come out were pretty shocking and just made the story even better. The ending was really good and I'm so excited for the next one!

Hard to decide

I'm not sure where to start. I do think the book needs a good editor. As some other reviews state, there was some things a good editor could have straightened up. Removing some repetitive things would help. Clearing up the plot without trying to figure out the weird jumps. The book has good bones underneath all of that. If you can get past the need for the editing, the book is good. The hurt from Amara feels 💔. Elias is unhinged, which I actually enjoyed. In the end, the book is about a couple who truly love each other, but the mmc doesn't communicate and almost destroys everything. He does not go about winning her back like a normal guy.

Love & Regrets

Communication is key in every relationship and not just from one person.

Amarah feels invisible, neglected, abandoned and discarded by her husband, Elias. So she asks for a divorce when he leaves for a 4 month business trip, while she has an operation that could leave her dead.

Elias is holding secrets and isolating his wife in the process. He has a bumbling assistant and close friends that don’t push him in the right direction.

If you look below the surface, you see the struggle between wants, needs, and what’s not said or heard. Can they make it back to their true love of each other or is the past and other people going to ruin it all?

Nope. Nope. & Nope.
Why do I do this to myself?

From the start of the book, till the very end - I'm constantly annoyed with Amara. God, don't even get me started on Elias. Amara is right about one thing, Elias is a grown-up man-child. Always throwing tantrums, especially at Felix, the poor assistant.

There's a lot of repetition and the question I ask myself a lot while reading this was "Huh?" Not confuse, but generally just frustrated with Amara who can't seem to decide if she wants to get back to her ex-husband or not.

In short, I knew what I was getting into. And I know how bad this is going to turn out. Yet, I can't stop. So...see you in the next.

Okay

The story is really good, but unfortunately the glaring discrepancies with context takes away from it. I understand that English is not the first language of the author, but there are enough proof readers that there shouldn't be as many mistakes within the context.. Things like "he takes off his clothes and she becomes naked instead." Also he puts her on the couch in the parlor, and suddenly she is in bed but they haven't moved. I am sorry if this seems picky, but this story just doesn't flow smoothly!

Overdone...

The h picking to take care of a friend's sister who was the reason for the FMC accident was overdone. The instant change on the h from being cold to being wanting to be with the weak FMC was not believable. Don't care for the h and the heroine was weak and pathetic. The h was irredeemable in my opinion. Spending 3 months thanking care of another women and being with OW were not even thought of as a big deal. The HE A was not believable in my opinion. Don't care for this ridiculous storyline.

She needs early readers to help her correct her work

The other reviews are pretty much spot on. They go from one thing or place to another and then they’re back again. Continuity is messed up. And she needs to scale back her sex scenes. It was horrible. I couldn’t imagine being with a man in bed doing all that. It was painful. I would have to say that the sex was monotonous. The rest of the book was too wordy, and if they would’ve given any kind of a hint of what was happening and why, it would’ve been easier to reach the end.

This is AI, right? There's no reason so many of the exact same lines are repeated back to back, and the inconsistency in the writing is mind boggling. How many times did she 'try to escape' but he 'instantly stopped her'? Oh, and don't forget my favorite line. "She froze for a half of a second, instantly jumping back." Ma'am. How TF do you freeze AND jump at the same time?

You know the highlight feature on the Kindle? I'm gonna start using it more. Instead of highlighting my favorite lines, I'm going to start highlighting these stupid mistakes.

My heart really hurts for Amara in this story. She really gave her all to Elias and she got rejected over and over. When he finally gained some sense, he was too late and she wanted a divorce. I was so glad she finally found her backbone and knew her worth. But I do love these Creed men and how crazy they get for their woman once they finally get their act together. I like reading a marriage in crisis story and this was an enjoyable one.

Timelines

I had a very difficult time following the timeline and the things that supposedly happened and when they happened. First the grandfather begged him to marry the MFC on his death bed but then they went to his funeral a year later. If the MFC had brain surgery, was there no scare, cut hair, shaved head or new hairstyle for the MMC to notice something happened while he was gone.🤷🏽‍♀️

this book makes absolutely no sense.
there's no way the heroine is running a multi-million/billion dollar empire, and acting the way she does with this loser of an ex-husband.
and he's supposed to be a billionaire, too?
nope. not buying it. neither of these characters are intelligent enough to pull that off.
i think this book works if your frontal lobe is not fully developed.

this book would be perfect for wattpad.
and i really need to stop taking book recs from facebook groups.
