Unable to engage
I personally was unable to find enjoyment in the story. I liked that each chapter introduced a character and that characters family/story in the first few chapters. I was bored fairly quickly. This might interest younger reader. I felt like the authors descriptions of a scene or an experience was overdone. There is some parts of the story I get lost and had to read it again. I liked the family support and beating the odds for the FMC. Some LGBT support was a nice inclusion. Overall a 1 star for me.

Okay, this one took me a while to get into. The beginning was pretty slow for me, and with several storylines happening at once, it took me a LONG time to understand how everything was connected. There were definitely some sections that felt like they took forever to get through.
BUT once the storylines started coming together, I was much more invested. Somewhere around the second half, things finally started clicking, and I found myself enjoying the story a lot more.
There are a LOT of characters, family secrets, magic, supernatural creatures, and lore packed into this book, and it definitely made me work for it. But once everything started coming together, I really got into it.
And that ending? Definitely a cliffhanger. Now I need to know what happens next, so apparently the author did something right.
My biggest complaint is the pacing, but I'm glad I stuck with it and I'm definitely curious about Book 2. I'm just hoping it doesn't make me work quite as hard to figure out what the hell is going on.

Nehara has so much on her shoulders, but she still presses on, especially since she is motivated to make things better for her younger siblings. I enjoyed reading about her and her difficulties.
The other characters also enhance the story, but can also make it feel overwhelming, since one is loaded with so much information in the first three chapters alone. Each chapter is written in the perspective of one of the main characters - Nehara, Taliesin and Tana.

Werewolf shifters, Witch covens, Dragons, Vampires. All of these beings live in one world. I love this book, and I am looking forward to the sequel. It had me in the narrative world within the first chapter. It does jump around a lot, but after a while, it becomes easier, and you remember who everyone is. As a dark fantasy novel, it does very well. I am halfway through the book, and so far, it has no swear words that would make it uncomfortable to read aloud. There is sexual assault spoken of, so the reader should be cautious if this is a trigger for you. I recommend this book for ages 13 and up, not for anyone younger. I will be looking up the author to see if they have a website and more information about this book and the subsequent ones in the series.

I was given the opportunity to read this book by author stack for my honest review.
This book has a lot of potential however, I don't think it's there yet. The book goes all over the place with multiple characters that are not fully developed. The whole time I read the book I really had no idea what I was reading about. Also, there needs to be a lot of editing done. Several misspellings and poor grammar. The ending absolutely did not make me want to read the next book. It just made me glad it was over.

ARC Review
It took me some time to get into to the book. There was a lot going on in the beginning and the pace at first was slow but once I got past that I fell in love with the Characters. The way that they made the book feel like I was there. I absolutely fell in love with Nehara and Meleck. I would most definitely recommend.

This was a very good story. Once I got through the initial story building I couldn’t put it down.
I gave this a 4 star because I did have a hard time with names and keeping everyone straight.
I am excited to read the next book in the series.
