For me, Brooklyn Cross delivers another intense, high stakes ride in the California Made Men series with Forbidden Forget Me Not.
It’s an age gap/mafia/forbidden bodyguard romance that leans hard into the “he was never supposed to touch her” trope, and executes it with plenty of heat, tension, and emotional turmoil. 😍
Lani (Kaylanis) is the Mikhailov mafia princess who’s tired of being a pawn in her father’s power games. Her father arranges marriages like business deals, treating love as a weakness and obedience as currency. But that’s not the life for her, so she takes matters into her own hands, and starts a feud!!
Enter Goran, her brother’s best friend and her assigned bodyguard, who’s meant to protect her with his life but never crave her, claim her, or love her. (We all know what happens next 😜) He really did try to be a good bodyguard, until he wasn’t 😂
What starts as a forbidden attraction explodes into a secret marriage that defies every rule in their dangerous world. The fallout? A brewing family feud, circling suitors, tightening control from her ruthless father, and the very real threat that their defiance could get them both killed!
There were high heat scenes, possessive/protective energy, and moments that left me emotionally wrung out. The banter was intense, witty, charged, and fun even amid the danger.
Lani comes across as someone who refuses to be controlled. She actively grabs what she wants rather than waiting passively, which I found refreshing and refreshing.

I really tried to like this, I swear I did.. I thought it was an interesting twist that the FMC was the one to force the marriage b/t herself and the MMC… that’s like unheard of in mafia romances but nonetheless the MMC was completely spineless and I couldn’t stand him

Right from page one Brooklyn Cross brings us one of the most fierce, fiery, sassy, sexy, dominant powerful FMC’s who’s story is pure perfection. Forbidden Forget Me Not is packed with secrets, action, passion, drama, betrayal, and redemption. This book is a bit of a slow burn, which is worth every single moment because once the match match is lit, the spice is explosive. This forbidden romance is intoxicating and provides all the struggles, heart ache, break, and chaos watching Kehlani and Goran navigate their brutal mafia world. Their deep fierce love is all consuming. This emotional fast paced dark romance, will put your heart in a vise and squeezes so hard. The full gambit of emotions felt throughout this one and once you start, you will not be able to put it down. Brooklyn Cross writes the most vicious, ruthless, powerful, violent men as the biggest teddy bears. It’s pure perfection. While you can read this as a standalone, I highly recommend starting with Protective Phlox and Avenging Azalea to get the full reading experience. You will love every moment.

Ahhhh Brooklyn Cross as always wrote another masterpiece, if you enjoy any of her books then you of course should pick up this book and read this book. Book 3 in the series but can be read as a standalone. Lani the FMC is amazing who knows what she wants & made it happen with the man she loves, her bodyguard the MC Goran even if it puts everything they both know & their lives in jeopardy but will their taking thier chances work out in the end or cost them everything. Pick up this amazing story today to find out.

You know I love a good angsty romance, and the Mikhailov family sure can serve it up! Lani is so much deeper of a character than her spoiled daughter exterior shows, and Goran honestly couldn't help but fall so so in love. Their relationship might be doomed, but both would rather have a minute with each other than a lifetime apart. The intricacies of this world are woven together so well and I loved seeing bits and pieces from Lani's family. Getting to know her beyond the surface made this story such a great read.

I love this series. I am invested in these characters and the story. And I am going to ask you something, if you don’t already support women’s rights and wrongs, I’m going to ask that maybe you consider starting because the truth is we have to support them all in this book. And the truth is, women’s rights is something that we should all be supporting at all times. Thank you for listening to my small rant.
From the very beginning Lani knew exactly what she wanted, or to be more precise who she wanted in her life, and that was Goran. Her brother’s best-friend, her bodyguard, and the very man who was meant to protect Lani and her family.
Lani’s a mafia princess, nothing more than a pawn for her father to use in his games. She’s been groomed to be everything her father wanted, but he couldn’t control everything. Lani has chosen certain things such as her love of horses and her profession as a professional horse jumper. And now, Lani’s decided to stop being her father’s pawn and she’s grabbing her life back and taking her own fate into her own hands rather than allowing anyone to tell her what to do.
And Forbidden Forget-Me-Not follows Lani trying to fight her father, Lani’s fight to take her control back all with the help of her banter, sharp comments, and her ability to read a situation. (Something her father taught her, and I’m sure he ends up regretting.)
Goran, I just loved him and his loyalty and dedication to Lani and her brother, I found him to be the perfect fit as a bodyguard for the entire family and you can tell that Goran was in love with Lani with every fiber of his very being, even though Goran knew without a shadow of a doubt they could never be together, he’s just a bodyguard and she’s a mafia princess. Goran wants nothing more than to be Lani’s everything, to be her entire world, but no matter what he does he feels like he’s never enough and he’s not worthy of her, he’s not worthy of loving her or worthy of receiving her love, he has nothing to offer her.
Once Lani convinces Goran that none of that matters, once their relationship starts, it’s spicy, it’s passionate, and it’s this complete mess. Both Goran and Lani wanted each other more then words could say but they both held back because they still felt that they couldn’t have each other as they wanted, especially as Goran was still her bodyguard and still felt he had to treat Lani like a job.
Together Lani and Gorn have a lot of issues that they have to work to overcome and if I’m being totally honest, they really needed therapy after all they go through to sort out all their insecurities that are really rather deep rooted. But the one thing that you can never question is how much they love each other, especially when you see how far they are willing to go for the other and what they are willing to do for each other.
In typical Brooklyn Cross fashion this was an amazing read, and I loved this mafia romance with all the tension that comes from within the family itself rather than coming from a rival family (although there is tension from rival families). What I especially loved was watching this mafia princess step up, take her life into her own hands, and become just a bad *ss and lethal as the men around her.
Brooklyn Cross truly is an author that’s worth reading no matter what book she’s written and I’m looking forward to reading what ever she writes next. Hopefully it will be more of this world.
I can honestly say that I couldn’t put this book down and it’s still living rent free in my head. And if you’re a fan of a strong FMC, forbidden romances, and a fiercely loyal MMC then you’re going to want to read Forbidden Forget-Me-Not ASAP!

I can honestly say that I couldn’t put this book down and it’s still living rent free in my head. And if you’re a fan of a strong FMC, forbidden romances, and a fiercely loyal MMC then you’re going to want to read Forbidden Forget-Me-Not ASAP!

THROWBACK THURSDAY but make it Forbidden Forget Me Not era
Because let’s be real… this book didn’t just pull me in like all of Brooklyn’s books do it consumed me entirely!
Before Forbidden Forget Me Not absolutely wrecked me (in the best possible way), Brooklyn had already sunk her claws into my soul with Protective Phlox and Avenging Azalea… and honestly?? I should’ve known I wasn’t going to come out of this book emotionally stable…. BOOK 3?? 🥰🤯🫠
Lani and Goran??? I was gone from page one.
A mafia princess who refuses to be controlled and a bodyguard who was never supposed to love her??? The tension alone had me in a chokehold. And the way their relationship builds the delicious slow burn, that restraint, that we can’t do this but we absolutely will anyway energy??? I ate. it. up.
And then Lani said “fine, I’ll take matters into my own hands” and literally drugged him so she could marry him… forcing a situation where he can’t just walk away and has no choice but to finally fight for them??? I’m sorry but the CHAOS??? The audacity??? The I will choose my own fate no matter what energy??? OBSESSED.

I read this book as a standalone and I want to confirm that after reading this I WILL be reading the other books because I am invested in these characters and this story. Also please know that if you don't support women's rights and wrongs, then maybe you should start because we have to support them all in this book!!
Lani knew what she wanted, and that was Goran in her life forever. He's her brothers best friend, a bodyguard and someone who's meant to protect her family. She is a mafia princess, a pawn to be used in her fathers game, a professional horse jumper and a woman who is choosing her own fate rather than being told what to do. This book was her trying to fight against her father and take her own control with the help of her banter, sharp comments and ability to read a situation.
Goran was dedicated to Lani and her brother, he was a perfect fit for the guard of the family and he also loved Lani with every fibre of his being even though he knew that they were not meant to be together because he was just a bodyguard and she was the mafia princess. He wants to be everything for her, but he has to grapple with not feeling like he is enough and like he isn't worthy of loving her because he can't offer her anything.
Their relationship was passionate and a complete mess. They wanted each other and not being able to have one another how they wanted was so hard, especially when Goran was her bodyguard and had to treat her like a job. They have a lot of issues to overcome and to be completely honest they definitely need therapy after this to sort their deep rooted insecurities, but you cannot question their love when you see what they're willing to do for each other in this book.
Genuinely such a good read, and it was great to read a mafia romance where a lot of the tension comes from within the family as opposed to from rival families (though that is there). It was also a joy as always to see a mafia princess stepping up and being just as bad ass and lethal as the men. Brooklyn Cross is a great author, and I can't wait to read the other books in this world and more of her backlog in general!

In the beginning of the story you already have an understanding of how strong Lani the FMC is and I love it. She’s not one to back down from a challenge and she takes and does what she wants (literally). She may be a mafia princess but she does not let that hold her back. We go on the journey with her to probably one of the biggest challenges she could face. But with Goran (protective bodyguard), and two of her brothers by her side she is determined to face that challenge. Lani puts herself on the line to protect the one she loves and to prove that just because she was born a mafia princess does not mean she will let traditions tell her what she is suppose to do. And the men that are showing up is getting a front row seat of that strong defiant woman, and I am all for it
Goran is a loyal body guard to Lani older brother. He may be the personal bodyguard but they see each other as friends. His loyalty will always be to his friend and we get to watch how Dimitri (head of the family) try’s give orders and believes that Goran will be just a good little solder and listen to his orders. Luckily Goran our MMC is just as strong willed and stubborn as Lani our FMC. Which makes this story all the more,ore reason to read.
And let not forgot the spice. The spice is spicing. It wasn’t to much but she gave us enough to statisfy the craving of the scenes. She did not leave us hanging. We had some sweat moments as well but we also had our man take charge like we need him to do sometimes.

I really liked this book. I’m a sucker for a good mafia romance. Add in bodyguard, brother’s best friend, age gap, forced proximity and a secret marriage?? Pssssh let’s gooooo.
The Mikhailov family is extremely complex, and trying to get out from under Dimitri’s thumb has proven difficult, if not damn near impossible for all of his children thus far, but they continue to try. He rules with an iron fist, and there is no line he won’t cross. Kaylani always knew her fate was to be married off as an asset, and once her father started threatening to force her into a marriage, she took things into her own hands and married her true love instead... in secret. Goron and Lani have been seeing each other for years at this point, and there is no doubt that they are in love. Goron has risked his life for her time and time again except now the game has changed. Now, he’s protecting her from her own father, and lengths he will go to keep control over his only daughter.
The connection between Goron and Lani is intense. Every moment together is spicy or filled with tension and anticipation for the next time they can be alone. When they got together in the trailer? 🥵🥵 Scorching hot.

Well, this story certainly had my blood pumping – in a good way. It had me laughing, crying and raging with anger continually throughout. I was utterly and totally consumed by this story.
Right from the very start when Goran woke up married to Keylani, I was 100% addicted and needed to know how this was all going to play out.
Keylani is such a spitfire of a woman and I just loved how fierce and defiant she was. She had me constantly cheering her on when she would continually push back at the controlling men in her life.
Goran was everything you could hope for in a husband for Keylani. And together, these two would become such an incredible force to be reckoned with. But holy hell did they ever have a lot of downright devious and cruel hurdles to overcome to get to their happy ending.

I was hooked from the beginning! This story delivered on drama, romance, and a baddie FMC! Goran woke up feeling sick, with no recollection of what happened, and with a ring on his finger. Lani, the love of his life, the forbidden mafia princess, the conniving desperate baddie was responsible for his situation. While they love each other, Lani failed to consider the consequences of her actions. Goran is her brothers number one man and often her bodyguard. Her father is deadset on marrying Lani off for political gain. They may be married but no one can know or their lives may be in danger. I absolutely loved Lani! She is intelligent, opinionated, and doesn't back down from anyone. She may technically be a mafia princess but she can hold her own against the men in that world including her father. Goran is a loyal and dedicated soldier. He only lets his guard down with Lani and occasionally Nathaniel. I loved the chemistry and dynamic between Lani and Goran. He knew when to push, protect, or let her lead. And respectively she did the same. I lived for their stolen moments. I absolutely loved this book. This is the third book in the series and it can be read as a standalone alone. But I highly recommend that you read Protective Phlox and Avenging Azalea because they are amazing! I can't wait to see what Brooklyn Cross hits us with next!

Vegas or bust…
Oh how easily I got sucked into Kaylani and Goran’s story. I couldn’t put this down. I was hooked from the first page to the last. I couldn’t wait to gobble every word of their book.
This had a taboo feel to it because of a few reasons. A mischievous mafia princess in love with her brothers best friend, who was head of his security, a soldier in his mafia, secret relationship and sneaking around knowing the consequences if caught.
Kaylani’s character was fun to read because she knew what she wanted, Goran, her father’s demands be damned. We had glimpses of Goran and Kaylani in previous books of this series so their characters were familiar.
I loved Goran and how once he crossed that line with Kaylani, he was all in and if he was killed by her father that the time spent together was worth it. He was more than just her bodyguard and when her life was at risk he would burn the whole world down just to keep her safe. He loved her fiercely but she loved him so much that she just did a little thing, like drugging and dragging him to Vegas for a secret wedding, you know no big deal.
I also loved seeing previous characters from the California Made Men and Wayward Academy series.
Oh how easily I got sucked into Kaylani and Goran’s story. I couldn’t put this down. I was hooked from the first page to the last. I couldn’t wait to gobble every word of their book.
This had a taboo feel to it because of a few reasons. A mischievous mafia princess in love with her brothers best friend, who was head of his security, a soldier in his mafia, secret relationship and sneaking around knowing the consequences if caught.

I was so excited for this book and went into it with high expectations, and I can definitely say it exceeded every single one. I was so completely obsessed.
This was so gripping, an emotional ride filled with tension, danger, and a love that was never supposed to happen.
“I was her bodyguard. I never meant to become her greatest weakness.” That line perfectly captures the heart of this story in my opinion.
Goran and Lani are everything! I loved seeing their dynamic and to see their relationship bloom.
The Mikhailov family dynamic adds so much depth to the story. Lani is a rebellious headstrong FMC that knows what she want's and not only gets it but does it with a flare. She is one of my favorite FMC's. And to find out that Goran & Lani's secret relationship is a not so secret romance actually had me laughing a little.
Also to see the characters from a previous series make an appearance made me so excited to see this from another POV.
This book perfectly balances romance with danger, making every moment feel urgent and emotional. I could not and would not put this book down!

Great read!!! I could not put this down. I loved Goran and Lani’s story, their chemistry was off the charts and their HEA was definitely hard won. It was action packed with twists and turns I don’t see coming, it was spicy and had me going through so many emotions.
The angst nearly did me in….. I just couldn’t wait until they could be together out in the open… they just had so much in the way of that. They were such a great team working together (for the most part) to achieve the future they wanted.
No cheating, no OWD, there was OMD, no actual breakup but leaving to protect the other with a HEA

Brooklyn, you impress the heck out of me yet again. I absolutely love this book from start to finish. It took me a little longer, but it was so worth finishing this particular book. There’s something about your writing that just captures my attention from the very first sentence.
This spectacular book was a high pace mafia romance that had intrigue, suspense, OMG moments, all the spice that my heart loves,
twist and turns that I was not expecting at all but loved every second of it. The book is about Kaylani and Goran who has a very interesting in the beginning and I put the biggest grin on my face because Kaylani is a woman who knows what she wants and will go after it no matter what.
This book made me hot and bothered, put the biggest grin on my face, made me beyond furious with certain people in this book, knock some sense into a certain person, and at times I was on pins and needles because I didn’t know what was gonna happen next. So if you like the things, I just said, then this book is for you. You won’t be disappointed because this book is truly a whirlwind that you will absolutely love.

Lani is the feisty Mafia princess with a romantic heart. She wants to live her life the way she wants, regardless of the consequences.
I especially loved Atlas and Lani's relationship.
Even though we get a HEA there are still a few loose plot lines floating around that I'm hoping are going to be resolved in later books.
Usually with a story by the amazing Brooklyn Cross, I expect some very unhinged spice. This was pleasantly surprisingly sweet. Definitely still spicy, just on the sweeter side.
This one is a standalone, but it has some great references to the kings of wayward academy books. Which has now been bumped waaay up my list of series to read this year. It's book three in the California Made Men series, you do not have to read these in order, though there are minor spoilers for the first two books.

Lani knew what she wanted and she took action to remove the barriers. She’s a fierce leading lady and Goran is her protector no matter the cost. Watching them evolve and make decisions with the others interests in mind, even if it hurt themselves, was stressful and emotional.
If you want a sorta messy, passionate, electric, semi-dark mafia romance, then look no further! But please do yourself a favor and go back to the beginning where you can meet Nathaniel in college, and then meet the Mikhailovs through Ren, before getting to the California Made Men series.
I was waiting for Kaylani’s book since we met her in Wayward, and I love that we got a little look at the other side of when Ren met her family for the first time.

Lani is an absolute queen and just love that she knows what she wants and goes after it. She is definitely a Mikhailov and Nathaniel's sister. She is the princess of the family and her father is trying to force her to do something to "help" the family.
Goran has been Nathaniel's bodyguard for a long time and also his best friend. He feels guilty for his feelings for Lani because feels betraying Nathaniel and also feels he's not good enough.
Oh my goodness, so much happens in this and the beginning had me giggling. My emotions went all over the place and also fall in love with characters from past books more. I just love these two and hoping for a book on the other brother that has you wondering where his loyalty really lies.

I adore Kaylani. She knows exactly what she wants and goes after it without fear of the consequences. You can’t help but feel for her, especially because the one thing she wants is the one thing she shouldn’t or can’t have as the princess of the Mikhailov empire.
And then there’s Goran. He loves Kaylani with all his heart and would do anything for her, but he also knows their love is impossible. He’s constantly torn between wanting to give Lani everything she desires and knowing that what she wants goes against the world they live in.
These two completely have my heart. They never give up on each other, and in the end, their happily ever after felt so well deserved.

Welp, I read this book out of order. So I WILL be going back to read books 1 and 2 as this can be read as a standalone but I'm wholeheartedly invested now.
Lani and Goran seem to be starcrossed lovers. She's the mafia princess and he's the bodyguard and her brother's best friend. So fate isn't on their side. But they're both pining after each other. Lani is determined to form her own path in life and not be controlled by her family. Goran was something else. It's been a long time since I've read a book where the male character was insecure and unsure of himself. It was refreshing. And while Lani is a bada$$ and can hold her own, she's still a princess. I loved their relationship. The book is angsty, action packed and a real page turner. I highly recommend (although maybe after reading books 1 and 2 first).
