This book😩 this series😩 ugh!!! 5 stars all around!
Ang had me screaming at my kindle, sobbing, swooning, heart broken… all the emotions. I cannot believe it’s over! She had me second guessing everyone. Even myself!
I could feel the push and pull from the characters. I could feel their heartbreak. Their love. I still cannot believe this series is over.
Thank you Ang for such an amazing journey with the twins & their friends! I cannot wait to see what comes next for you!
I can’t describe what a perfect ending this was to the trilogy. I’ve been obsessed with these books since they first came out and have been waiting for this for so long! The bonds, friendships, love are all just first class. Original plot, edge of your seat read. The last 1/4 of the book! Phew! I definitely cried. The whole series is an absolute 5 star read. Thanks so much for the ARC! I’m sad this journey is over
Welcome back to Mageia War College for the final time. You will definitely want to refresh your memory on books one and two before diving into book three. It is a fantastic conclusion to a well done series!
The Forgotten Realm is not a place one can easily escape, yet Fallon and Rhodes are determined to find a way back to Scarlet and Shayde. Scarlet faces a pivotal choice on whether or not to embrace a prophecy she never wished to be part of. It's been inspiring to witness the transformation of all the characters.
The narrative includes multiple perspectives, giving readers insight into the events unfolding in both realms. All of the characters have quite the journey, both physically and emotionally and twists and turns abound. The relationships are so powerful all around, but sometimes betrayals sneak up on them. The plot moves seamlessly with constant action keeping you engaged.
The characters emotions and feelings may resonate deeply with your own experiences. I found myself connecting with many of their struggles, as Ang skillfully portrays the thoughts and emotions I often encounter while navigating my own anxiety. There are some insightful quotes sprinkled throughout the book, so be sure to pay attention. I have included quite a bit, but be ready for more!
I will truly miss the world that Ang has created. The entire series captivated me, as it delves into powerful themes of internal struggles that resonate with many. She makes me feel seen. Engaging with these stories made me feel less isolated, as her writing allows me to feel understood and acknowledged. You will want to get your hands on her series ASAP, you won't be disappointed!
Thank you Ang for the arc. I am leaving my review voluntarily.
"Because no matter how hard the good parts of me try to break through, the ruined ones always win.”
"We’re all players in fate’s deadly game."
"... keep writing your story."
“One’s weakness isn’t their failure."
“I don’t care what I am. As long as I’m yours.”
I would fight every battle with her—never for her.
“Nothing in life is promised. All we have is now.”
"Where you go, I go.”
“Don’t let how I treated you shape who you are to yourself."
“Because sometimes people don’t want someone to listen or give advice. Sometimes they just want to know someone noticed.”
I am meant for more. And I do not break.
But what if I fail?
'It is the scars within that show the fight in you.'
I control my fate.
“The only true failure is refusing to try again.”
“Whether you think you can or think you can’t, you’re right."
“Your worst enemy in this is yourself, Fallon.”
“Destiny isn’t about what happens to you… it’s about who you become because of it.” I lifted my gaze to them, resolve settling into my chest. “Fate throws you into the fire. Destiny decides whether you burn… or learn how to wield it.”
Some trilogies end well, and others leave a lasting impression. The Light Within is the kind of finale that brings together everything the series has been building toward, delivering an emotional, action-filled conclusion that was both satisfying and unforgettable.
Ang T. Dalton beautifully ties together the threads woven throughout the previous books, raising the stakes one final time while giving every major character the opportunity to shine. The story balances epic battles, heartfelt relationships, and emotional revelations, creating a finale that kept me completely invested until the very last page.
Scarlet's journey has been one of my favourite parts of this trilogy. Watching her evolve from a young woman burdened by fear and uncertainty into someone willing to embrace her strength and destiny has been incredibly rewarding. Her resilience, courage, and determination made every victory feel earned, while the emotional moments reminded me just how much she'd grown throughout the series.
The relationships continue to be a highlight, with the romance, friendships, family bonds, and unwavering loyalty adding depth to every chapter. Even amid the action and danger, the heart of the story remains its characters and the choices they're willing to make for the people they love. Those quieter moments made the larger conflicts feel even more meaningful.
The world-building reaches its full potential in this installment, with long-held mysteries finally revealed and the magical lore coming together in a way that felt both exciting and satisfying. The action sequences are thrilling, the emotional stakes are high, and the ending delivers exactly what I hoped for—a conclusion that honours the journey while offering a sense of hope for the future.
Closing the final page felt bittersweet. Saying goodbye to these characters wasn't easy, but The Light Within gave them an ending worthy of the adventure they'd been through.
"Even the smallest spark can become the light that drives back the deepest darkness."
If you're looking for a completed romantasy trilogy filled with dragons, forbidden magic, unforgettable friendships, emotional character growth, and a finale that truly sticks the landing, The Twisted Thorn series is one I wholeheartedly recommend.
✨ Tropes & Themes 🐉 Dragons & Dragon Bonds ✨ Light vs. Darkness ⚔️ Epic Final Battle 💕 Slow-BBurn Romance 🤝 Found Family 🔮 Ancient Magic & Prophecy 👑 Destiny Fulfilled 💖 Emotional Character Growth 🌟 Hope & Sacrifice 📚 Satisfying Trilogy Finale
I was lucky enough to receive an ARC of The Light Within, the third and final book in Ang T. Dalton’s Twisted Thorn trilogy.
This was another strong four-star read for me and a really satisfying conclusion to the series.
The story picks up with the characters scattered and facing very different battles. Scarlet is dealing with everything she has lost, as well as the darkness and power connected to becoming the Crimson Wraith, while Rhodes and Fallon are trapped in the Forgotten Realm, where the past and its secrets refuse to stay buried.
The world and the stakes feel much bigger in this final instalment. There are collapsing realms, curses, war, dragons and magic that was never really meant to be controlled, but the characters and their relationships remain at the heart of it all.
I especially enjoyed seeing how the characters have developed across the trilogy. They’ve all been changed by their experiences, their relationships and the choices they’ve made, and this book brings those journeys together in a way that feels fitting for the series.
I read this over three days, so it wasn’t quite a book I physically couldn’t put down- although having to go to work was partly responsible for that! It still kept me interested and wanting to know how everything would end.
The final section really raises the stakes and brings the trilogy’s larger conflicts together in a dramatic, action-packed conclusion. There is plenty happening, with the fate of the realms hanging in the balance, but the action still feels connected to the characters and everything they have been fighting for.
A great conclusion to the Twisted Thorn trilogy, with plenty of action, emotion and character development. I’m very glad I followed Scarlet and the others all the way to the end.
Huge thanks to the author for sharing an ARC with me.
First of all I would like to thank the author for gifting me this ARC.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✨ (4.5/5)
The Light Within was everything I wanted from the final book in a trilogy. It didn’t just bring the story to its conclusion, it made every step of the journey to that ending feel worthwhile.
This book is packed with twists, betrayals, redemption arcs, and emotional moments that kept me completely invested. The final battle was especially well done. It wasn’t a rushed “good defeats evil” ending; it was a long, intense, and hard fought conflict that truly felt worthy of everything these characters had been through. Every victory had a cost, and every loss hit exactly where it needed to.
I loved finally learning the truth about the past and seeing how everything connected. Watching Scarlet, Fallon, Rhodes, and Shayde each play their role in fulfilling the prophecy, just not in the way I expected, was incredibly satisfying. The reveals were handled so well, and I appreciated that the story continued to surprise me right until the end.
There were heartbreaking losses that pulled at my emotions, balanced with moments that had me cheering (some for characters that got what they deserved, really enjoyed the chopping off of hands for one particularly evil character) for these characters I’d grown so attached to over the trilogy. The found family, the romance, and the sacrifices all landed beautifully.
Ang T. Dalton’s writing shines throughout, and you can really feel the heart and soul that has gone into this series. Knowing the story was inspired by the author’s own mental health journey adds another layer of depth to both Fallon and Scarlet’s struggles and makes the emotional beats resonate even more.
A powerful, emotional, and satisfying conclusion to the Twisted Thorn Trilogy. I’ll definitely be looking forward to whatever Ang T. Dalton writes next.
What an absolutely epic conclusion to an incredible series!!
This book was been emotional, gut-wrenching, heartbreaking, action-packed, and filled with love in every sense of the word.
I sobbed, laughed, giggled, kicked my feet, and I damn near woke up the entire neighborhood cheering when my favorites prevailed despite every single odd stacked against them!
Fallon and Scarlet have been through the unthinkable. Truly, the things thrown at them were devastating, and at times extremely difficult to read. But they survived, thrived, dug themselves out of the darkness, and stepped into the strongest, most powerful versions of themselves.
And Shayde and Rhodes? The perfect matchups for them. Each relationship felt like such a beautiful balance of strength, loyalty, and healing. They didn’t make Fallon and Scarlet powerful (because they already were) — but they helped them see it, claim it, and fully step into it.
There were betrayals that had my jaw on the floor, plot twists that had me spiraling, heartbreak that physically hurt, and moments where I genuinely did NOT know how everyone was going to make it through. But the ending? Absolutely beautiful.
It was full of love, healing, hope, and the kind of payoff that made every tear worth it. The Light Within gave this series the conclusion it deserved, and I am so incredibly grateful I got to experience this world, these characters, and this story. This is one of those series that will stay with me for a very, very long time!!
Massive thank you to Ang T. Dalton for allowing me the pleasure of ARC reading the final installment of what’s come to be one of my all-time favorite romantasy series.

Rating: 4.5 / 5 Stars Recommendation: A absolute must-read!
What a journey this series has been! I have enjoyed every single moment of it—well, almost every moment. The Light Within is one hell of a emotional rollercoaster ride; I was tossed around, broken down, and pulled back up multiple times right alongside the characters.
An Epic, Mind-Blowing Plot
The scope of this story is simply epic. Seeing how all the threads and plot points finally clicked into place was completely mind-blowing. The magic system and the deep dives into past memories really kept the momentum moving forward, constantly uncovering vital pieces of the puzzle. Just when you think you have a handle on things, another discovery drops.
High Stakes & Unapologetic Betrayal
Every single character goes through absolute hell in this book. With Rhodes, Laney, and Farron trapped in another realm, and Shayde and Scarlet taken shortly after, it feels like hit after hit. The battles in between are relentless.
And the betrayal? It literally had me swearing at the top of my lungs. I had my suspicions, but mostly because I desperately didn't want to believe the alternative—and it still knocked the wind out of me because I loved those characters just a little too much.
The Climax
No one could have prepared me for the ending. At one point, I genuinely thought everyone was gone. I don't want to spoil a single detail, but damn... get yourself ready.
Final Thoughts:
Ang T. Dalton delivered a thrilling, heartbreaking, and deeply satisfying installment. If you’ve been following this series, brace yourself—you’re in for an unforgettable ride
Ang T. Dalton has a way with connecting the reader to the characters of her stories.
The Light Within is the final book in the trilogy, and I was on the edge of my seat throughout the whole book. I swear, there were moments I doubted myself, and moments where I cried with the characters because I could feel their pain.
It's the perfect end to a series. I knew certain things would need to happen. Doesn't mean that I didn't cry or freak out when they did. I just felt it all. Scar & Fallon have to be two of my favorite FMCs in existence. I love their duality, I love their differences, I love how they compliment each other. Where one lacks, the other prevails; and vice versa. They are some of the strongest, most defined characters I have read. They both have immense amounts of character development, and that's something that is so important to me in a story.
Her world building, is INSANE. Like, I felt that I was there and could see everything. It felt like I knew the world as well as the characters did. The idea of the Forgotten Realm being a mirror to their world was so cool.
And the twist at the end, that really got me. I never expected that. Although, the end nearly killed me. I swear my heart stopped like three times while I was reading. This book was so hard to put down. The two days I spent not being able to read it were miserable. I just wanted to pick it up and ignore all my real life duties. I have such high praise for this series, and fully believe that if you have not picked up the first two, then you absolutely should.
The 2nd book ended on a huge cliffhanger and this picked up right from there!
This was a fun trilogy and a quick read for all the books! This third book was pretty fast paced too, with plenty of action.
I struggled with getting into this book a bit, but that was because it's been a while since I'd read the second book and I just couldn't remember who anybody was! There's so many different smaller characters too and when they showed up, I struggled to remember who they are and why I should care about them, if they lived or died.
So this was a 3.5 for me, but I've rounded up to 4 stars as it's not the author's fault! It was definitely a me thing.
I think what I love the most about this series is the message that we are not defined by our lowest points. Well actually, defined is not the right word - because those low points we hit leave an impact on us. But by the fact we are still here, still living, still thriving - THAT'S what we should take notice of, and not be ashamed of our mental health struggles.
A quote I really loved which I think defines the whole series:
"It's the scars within that show the fight in you."
I also thought this was a great point:
"Because sometimes people don't want someone to listen or give advice. Sometimes they just want to know someone noticed."
If you're a fan of war academies, dragons, elemental magic and a lot of romance, action and some spice - give this trilogy a go!
Thank you so much to the author for the Advance Review Copy! This is my honest review left voluntarily.
I’ve REALLY enjoyed this trilogy. It didn’t drag on or turn into a (thankfully) never ending series. (Like SJM, RY,JLA) I don’t do book reports- just REVIEWS on how much I enjoyed it and if it evoked emotions. .
What i liked: It was a breakout unknown, untutored author who based it upon her own “war with life”.
It (finally) explained how the espresso/coffee machines worked in medieval times.
Spice was Perfect (for me) Not smutty but enough to get you in their moment.
Did I scream at the book? Yes. (Once) (“shoot him with the arrow!” ) my husband looked up and said- “seriously?” Did i cry? No (almost) Did it come to a HEA-Yes Did I lol- I smirked (a LOT).
Yes- I recommend reading this entire series as book one was REALLY confusing with a ton of tropes all over the place but it all finally came together with book 3. That’s if you can make it past book one- Oh! But that damn cliffhanger hung me out to dry.
What I didn’t like:
Way too many tropes- hard to adapt to everything going on all at once. (Could be just my imagination slacking- not the Author’s)
Very confusing at times. (For me- but I figured it out by the end) TG!
And Lakota. He needed to stay somehow. Especially with ALL THAT MAGIC she had. But I get it. He was ready…..

I really enjoyed this book and thought it wrapped up the story beautifully. It tied everything together in a satisfying way while still managing to keep me guessing until the very end. 📖✨
There were some twists throughout the story that genuinely caught me by surprise, which I always appreciate. Of course, there were also a few moments where I could see what was coming, but that didn't take away from my enjoyment. Watching everything unfold was still incredibly satisfying, and I loved seeing how all the pieces came together.
I also want to say a huge thank you to the author and publisher for trusting me with an ARC copy. I'm genuinely so grateful to have been given the opportunity to read this before publication, and I feel incredibly fortunate to have been chosen to experience this story ahead of release. It's a privilege I'll never take for granted.
One of the things that makes this book even more special is knowing the inspiration behind it. I love that this story was born from Ang's mental health journey and admire the way she transformed her experiences into something so powerful and beautiful. Turning pain into art is an incredible thing to do, and I think that makes this story all the more meaningful.
Overall, this was a wonderful conclusion, and I'm so grateful to have been part of its journey before it reaches everyone else. ❤️
It felt so good to be back in Mageia for one last adventure. The stakes in The Light Within were definitely the highest of the series, and there was never a dull moment. With multiple points of view, you really get to experience everything happening across both realms, which kept me completely invested from start to finish.
I loved seeing how much every character had grown throughout the series. They all face impossible choices, betrayals, heartbreak and personal struggles, but their development felt so natural. The relationships, both romantic and platonic, were one of my favourite parts of the book and gave so many emotional moments real weight.
What I’ve loved most about this series is how it doesn’t just tell a fantasy story, it explores anxiety, and trauma and mental health, self worth and hope in a way that feels incredibly real. So many of the characters’ thoughts and feelings were relatable, and there were several quotes that really stuck with me.
This was a brilliant conclusion to the Mageia trilogy. Action-packed, emotional and full of heart, it wrapped up the story beautifully while reminding us to keep fighting, even when things feel impossible. I’ll genuinely miss this world and these characters. Thank you, Ang, for creating a series I’ll be thinking about for a long time!!
This book finished me. I was exhausted, emotionally drained, excited, in awe... I basically experienced every known emotion to man while reading this. The Final book of the series ended with full circle moments, mysteries solved, prophecies fulfilled.
I really thought there couldn't be any more character development from our main FMC, but I was wrong. There was so much character development that happened in this book from all the characters. There was so much recognition, reflection, & healing. It is incredible watching how far each character has come.
The Light Within was ACTION-PACKED! One thing after another, no time for rest or recovery. This book provided realm & time travel, war with magic, betrayal, dragons, enchanted forged weaponry, & more.
I have been ARC reading this series since book #1. Every book has been a 5 star read for me. This whole series has touched the darker depths of myself & healed them. Each book made me feel like I wasn't alone, others have walked the same path I did & knowing that brings me comfort because we survived. Not only did we survive but we were forged anew, blessed with a second chance at life. Thank you Ang for letting us in & being a light in the world.
I will admit i struggled reading the first few chapters, but through my own fault, as it had been a while since i had read the first twi books, but when i git into it, it all came flooding back…
The detemination they had to break the curse tgat would destroy them and the realms.
This book had it all like the first books, secrets ti be uncovered, lies, deceit, tensions. Not just from the fmc & mmc but their twin siblings.
The book started where the second book ended with the fight to try and get Fallon and Rhodes back after they had vanished into a forgotten realm.
Then the impending war between Aryians and Tyrians.
All because of people wanting power no matter the cost.
So yeah there was a lot of action going on be it preparing for war, breaking a curse and fighting feelings for one another. And a whole lot of sacrifices all in the name of love.
An excellent ending to an amazing trilogy.
OH AND NOT FORGETING LOTS OF DRAGONS
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Book one was incredible, meeting Scar and learning how Rock Bottom couldn’t stop her. Book two was filled with revelations and unexpected relationships. THIS ONE though, this book blew me AWAY. From Scar and Fallon fighting through realms and times, to Rhodes fighting against his fate, and Shayde trying to save everyone, there wasn’t a single moment I wasn’t invested. Scarlet is a fighter, through and through. Her destiny wouldn’t allow for any less. Everyone should be scared of Fallon’s temper, and even worse, her bow and arrows. No one will ever get to Scarlet when Rhodes is by her side, he’s devoted and loyal, protective and fierce. Even if she can protect herself, he’ll be there. And Shayde’s redemption story brought me to tears. My heart stopped multiple times. There’s devastation, loss, sacrifice, love, and betrayal. This story is incredible and I loved the conclusion, minus the one loss! Phenomenal read. Five stars.
Okay, let me tell you, I felt ALL the feelings with this book. I don't think Ang could have wrapped it up into a prettier bow. I found myself on the edge of my seat on several occasions because I knew that nobody was safe, with it being the last book. Ang has a way of writing truly beautiful human connection and I love that going from chapter to chapter, I honestly didn't even have to read the top of the page to know who's perspective we were getting. I feel that that's a truly impressive skill to write from multiple POVs. I love that there is no hesitance to get into the nitty-gritty of human emotions and flaws, while still presenting the opportunity for growth and redemption. I loved this series and I'm sad that it's over! However, I'm going to happily re-read it with my favorite cup of coffee and dream about my Mageia dragons!
Ang, thank you for letting me be a part of your street team all 3 books, it was an amazing experience.
This series is wonderfully written and draws you in from the very beginning. You will feel ALL the emotions, heartbreak, sorrow, anger, joy, excitement, and even fear! You will connect with all the characters, you will question their decisions, you will be heartbroken, and you will ugly cry, BUT you will love these books.
The Light Within is the latest book in the series. It is amazing, and in my opinion, it is the best. It has: Dragons Strong FMCs Sexy MMC (the don't touch her) protective ones Family struggles Battles Spiciness Plot twists you don't see coming
The Light Within will be available on October 13, 2026. I suggest you read the books fairly close together, although Ang is very good to give reminders of what happened before. The Scars Within and The Darkness Within are on KU.
Thank you, Ang, for accepting me to be on your Street Team for this book. It has been a pleasure. I can't wait to see where you go from here.
I love how the author wrapped up this trilogy, I easily devoured this in 24 hours!! We left off with Fallon and Rhodes stuck in the forgotten realm, which gives Damon and Bonnie vibes from The Vampire Diaries. Meanwhile, Scarlet is being faced with a choice, fulfilling the prophecy she was not prepared for. There’s betrayals you don’t see coming, plot twists and turns, war has arrived, the past becomes unburried, realm travel, power that corrupts, and an emotional ending!! I love this series and can’t wait to see what else the author writes.
- Dragons, war, and collapsing realms - A prophecy finally reaching its devastating end - Love powerful enough to break the world - Magic that was never meant to be controlled - Feminine rage unleashed - The rise of the Crimson Wraith
This series was an adventure from the start, but I could not imagine the craziness that would come. If you are looking for a story with dragons, elemental magic (air, water, earth and fire), love, war, history, prophecies and curses, this is it. My brain is now broken from the last 200 pages of this, and this review is probably not the most coherent one.
This was fantastic and I highly recommend this trilogy. What a wonderful story, with high stakes and great storytelling.
This book could have another 100 pages to explore the history more and I would have loved it more, since I think the last bit was a bit rushed and I was not understanding parts of it. But other than that I loved it!
Will definitely pick up Ang’s next project, for sure!
Finishing this trilogy left me with that familiar bittersweet feeling that comes from reaching the end of a story you've completely fallen in love with. On one hand, I was eager to discover how Scarlet, Rhodes, and their world would ultimately fare. On the other, I wasn't ready to say goodbye and found myself wishing for more.
This final installment is an emotional rollercoaster from beginning to end. It delivers love, friendship, heartbreak, and betrayal, all woven together in a way that keeps you deeply invested in every character and every outcome. The author's vivid writing and immersive descriptions make it easy to lose yourself in the story—you don't just read it, you experience it alongside the characters.
What makes this trilogy so special is its consistency. From the very first book to this satisfying conclusion, the story never lost its magic. It captivated me from start to finish, and I have no doubt that I'll be revisiting this world in the future.
An unforgettable ending to a fantastic trilogy, and one I highly recommend.
The Light Within was such an amazing conclusion to the trilogy. Everything came together so well, and the story never slowed down. There was nonstop action, emotional moments, and twists that kept me completely invested until the very last page.
I loved following Scarlet and her twin, Fallon, alongside Rhodes and Shayde. Watching the characters grow, strengthen their relationships, and face impossible challenges together made this finale even more rewarding. And just when I thought I knew what was coming, the betrayals completely caught me off guard.
Overall, this was a fantastic ending to the series. It wrapped up the story in a satisfying way while delivering all the action, emotion, and surprises I could have hoped for.
Wow! I just LOVE this trilogy so much! A story of prophecy and loss? Sign me up! Every character in this series is ultimately faced with what they will do when presented with the choice of duty over morality; if power equals happiness and what it really means to fulfill your potential. Everyone makes big sacrifices in the name of loyalty and love and i ATE IT UP! This series needs to be on everyone’s bookshelf, ebooks and tbr. Plus there’s dragons. Who doesn’t love a snarky dragon? Scarlet is my girl! She’s told she’s the end of everything but she doesn’t take that lying down. This entire series is a blast and it grows in complexity as you get to each book. I absolutely loved it and have already reread it once!
I NEVER WANTED IT TO END. 💔 I cherish this series so much it honestly holds such a special place in my heart. I feel like went on the journey with all the characters and got to experience their growth with them. My favorite thing about this series is the focus on mental health awareness. Ang T. Dalton does a wonderful job of portraying realistic mental health concerns and the adverse side effects. The Light Within was a beautiful ending to this trilogy. So much happened that it has taken me a few days to even write this review. I am still processing all the emotional damage and plot twists. I really loved how everything tied together with the prophecy and being able to see the different attempts are breaking the curse. I will forever be the biggest Rhodes + Scarlet fan, I was truly tearing up over their journey in this book. I could not have asked for a better ending to the series.
The war is finally in full motion and the action is never ending. Rhodes, Fallon, and Laney are trapped in the Forgotten Realm while Scarlet and Shayde work to get them back. Scarlet is unwavering in her belief that they will return and she faces opposition at Mageia. She starts to finally get answers to all her questions and takes control of the prophecy. I loved how all the characters developed throughout this book and I would say more, but I don’t want to spoil it! This final book is filled with action, adventure, and more! If you were hoping for some good dragon war action you will be very happy!!
If you still haven’t started this series, then START NOW. You will not be disappointed.
I was hooked immediately. The multiple POVs were great. It kept me on little cliffhangers until it would switch back.
I had figured it out who the betrayer was, but it wasn't obvious. I couldn't figure out why they did it until it was explained.
The villain in the end, I had no idea who it was or where they came from. 😅 Maybe I missed something along the way?
Lakota! 🥹 Can't say anymore on that.
There were so many great character arcs in this series and especially this book! Fallon was my favorite. Especially her scene at the end with Lakota. Freaking badass. 🔥
I'm sad this series is over. But I can't wait to see what Ang writes next.
The way this book tied up the series was amazing. The series overall was 5 stars for me! Ang really knows how to develop complex characters who you either love or love to hate.
The Betrayal in this book was devastating and my sweet sweet Lakota, you never disappoint. I swear I love Rhodes more and more with each book. Shayde's description of his experience in chapter 35..chefs kiss you guys! I can't go without giving Scarlet some love as well. She's a great FMC who has more determination than most. "I am meant for more. And I do not break." That quote sums her up perfectly.
Another great book by Ang!! Definitely a must read series! Thanks for the ARC!
The action, the mystery and that ending was just incredible. This third installment really ties the entire series together and we really get to see who the characters are and what they value. The bond between dragon and rider is sacred but knowing that some may disappear and having to accept that is such a huge hurdle. Rhodes and Scarlett must work with Fallon and Shayde before it’s too late and finally tie the crystal together and save magic. It was incredible, this was a ride and absolutely heartbreaking at the same time but a satisfying ending. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
This was a satisfying end to a beautifully written trilogy. I was unable to put it down always being left with needing to know more. The plot was constantly moving and the banter between the characters kept me wanting more. Shayde and Rhodes are so swoon worthy. Their dedication to their loved ones is unmatched. I loved how the author navigated this love triangle with all the twists and turns throughout the series. The mental health representation in it was done very delicately and appropriately. The emotions both high and low were easily found throughout the story. I’m sad to say goodbye to these characters and will think of them often.
Whelp, it's been a journey with this series for real. Read my previous review for more on book 1 and 2. While I found the writing a lot better in book 3, I think I still struggled. I wanted to like this series so much more than I did which is why I kept going back. There was so many things I did enjoy like the multiple POVs, I do like the characters and the overall story. I think there may have just been a couple of plot holes or things that I wished there was more time explaining? Still overall a decent series so totally get why everyone is loving it!
Thank you to BookSirens for the arc! All opinions are my own.
The Light Within sounds like a truly satisfying finale. What stands out most is that it doesn’t just aim for spectacle it gives Fallon a conclusion that feels emotionally honest, with the romance, trauma, and final battles all landing the way they should. I also love that the supporting cast still matters this late in the series. When a final book can make you worry about who survives, while still giving the characters real emotional closure, that’s usually a sign the series has been building toward something meaningful all along.
