Another fantastic installment in Cale's adventures! The battle at the Empire was pure tension, especially during the confrontation with the White Star. The reveal surrounding the White Star's identity completely exceeded my expectations 😬
Also, if I'm not mistaken, this was the longest Cale has been knocked out so far 😅
The Sound of the Wind test was so heartbreaking 😭
I sincerely hope the future doesn't end up like that 🥲
Overall, the storytelling remains top tier. Between the high stakes conflict and meeting yet another unhinged character, this volume was an absolute thrill to read!
Also, if I'm not mistaken, this was the longest Cale has been knocked out so far 😅

In the heat of the Empire, Cale Henituse is out for blood — specifically, Prince Adin’s. A battle ensues, secrets are revealed…and White Star finally appears. While Cale feels a sense of familiarity, White Star finds a kindred spirit. That connection only raises more questions and intensifies the battle.
After the battle, the dragon Erhaven begins to show his flagging state, so Cale and co. leave in search of the Mercenary King, who supposedly has a power that can heal any ailment. But it turns out obtaining the panacea requires a trial, and it’s one Cale has to go through alone.
I just love this series. It’s so over the top, especially during battles, then it feels almost understated when things quiet down. I still don’t understand people’s reactions to Cale, but their devotion to him is fantastic, and in this volume, we get to see past the protagonist’s stoic facade and glimpse the depth of his love for his found family. I also really want to learn more about White Star and see some characters from the earlier novels, who were mentioned in this book and are clearly going to make a reappearance.
This ninth installment was an interesting mix of story progression and filler, but it was fast-paced the whole time, the characters are amazing, and I want to keep reading.

This story keeps me super entertained
I can't really for the next book. This story is one of the best I've read recently. The fights and gore the story is developing are great. I highly recommend this series. I'm also getting the audiobooks.

vol 8 ended on webnovel ch 321 and im currently on ch 389.. its been like three big arcs i think im done w vol 9 contents. anyway actual peak greatness holy molyyyy
