Callie Hart is such a good fucking storyteller. She constructs these characters with such nuance and complexity. She knows how to make things HOT and COMPELLING. I’m drawn in from the jump.

It’s hard to rate these serial books individually because they’re short and can’t stand on their own, but I love the way CH crafts her characters and I’m all in. On to the next chunk— books 3 and 4.

все швидко розвивалось. і в ліжку, і в сюжеті, але не втрапило в мій настрій.

персонажі не імпонували.
слоан занадто істерична, хоча вона лікарка-ординатор і на роботі уся така стримана, з холодним розумом.
зет норм. ні поганий, ні хороший. просто ок, най буде.

але протягом двох книг вони тільки срались і їбались, вибачте 😅
хотілось раніше припинити цю дурку 🌚

I've got 99 problems in my life and if I had Zeth Mayfair they would probably sum up to 199, but i would eagerly bear them all for this man.

Romances where leads have smoking hot sexual chemistry but zero emotional intimacy and slowly... oh so slowly they open up and expose their vulnerabilities without even realising how they reached that point, that's my shit. And it's so satisfying to witness that in a mafia romance.

I'm obsessed with the characters, and the plot was just as intriguing. The dark and dominant part of Zeth was too hot to handle and Sloane matched him perfectly with her defiant yet submissive side.

Trigger warning: knife play, physical abuse, suicidal attempt.

I have heard all about the glorious man, Zeth Mayfair.

And it's taken me years to jump head first into the Blood & Roses series. I'm here now though. I'm in love. I'm never leaving.

Hot damn. I kind of hate him, but his larger-than-life presence, his magnetism, the way he looks at me like he’s already inside me…he slays me.

When her younger sister is kidnapped, Sloane Romera won't stop until she finds Alexis. She's prepared and willing to complete a 'favour' in exchange for information, which will only lead her down a very dark path. But when a loved one disappears, nothing will stop someone from pursuing every avenue, right?

Two years later, Sloane still hasn't found Alexis - she isn't even close to doing so. But one day while working, she does meet an interesting man who feels familiar.

"And who are you supposed to be? My Prince Charming?" He snorts at that. "No, silly girl. I'm the big bad wolf."

Zeth Mayfair is mysterious. Everything he does and says has purpose. We know what he does for a living - he's a gang enforcer. He is, without doubt, the quintessential alpha male, anti-hero that we all want and love.

He's dangerous. Dark. Ruthless. And very domineering, having specific tastes within the bedroom. What he loves is quite dark and not for the faint-hearted. But the mystery doesn't stop there. We don't really learn anything about Zeth other than these few characteristics.

He is probably the most savagely beautiful human being I have ever seen. It's not his looks that freeze my limbs to stone though. It's the way he looks at me, like for this split second I am the sole focus of his entire world.

You can trust me. You gave yourself to me back at my apartment; I’ve never done it before, but I gave myself in return. I may not have wanted to, Sloane, but I didn’t have a choice. That means we belong to each other now.

Fracture begins where Deviant ends.

Zeth Mayfair is so dangerous, deliciously naughty and ruthless.

Sex between Zeth and Sloane becomes hotter with each scene. Plot continues to thicken. And the series gets better. I don't know how Callie Hart does it, but she does. And she does it well!

Despite how cruel and corrupt his ex-employer is, Zeth never wanted to believe that he had something to do with Sloane's sister's disappearance or human trafficking. But when Zeth is sent to complete an assignment, he learns how deep that betrayal runs.

And now he's determined to protect Lacey and Sloane, no matter what. Leaving an unhinged Lacey with Sloane, Zeth leaves to find the answers he needs, as well as searching for Alexis. When two men break into her house with the intention of kidnapping Lacey, Sloane has no choice but to run towards the man she knows will protect her, even though he still terrifies her in many ways.

Just for a second there...it felt like she might be capable of gluing me back together too.

Even though Sloane is confronted with the reality of Zeth, she can't help but be drawn towards the dangerous man. He awakens something within her. Confidence. Strength. And Zeth is also fighting his growing attachment towards this woman he feels possessive and protective of.

I really love this series so damn much.

Zeth is still a mysterious character, but we do learn more about the dangerous man. Underneath his tough exterior he does have compassion. He does care. You can tell by the way he acts around Lacey, his determination to find Alexis and his protectiveness of Sloane.

Sloane is fantastic. She's the best kind of heroine. She has strength, character and confidence. While she's internally terrified of certain events, she still faces each challenge with conviction.

Commento ufficioso: d'accordo, ragazze, questo libro è molto piccolo, quindi c'è solo una cosa da dire. Zeth. Oh mio Dio, Zeth ♥ Fin dalla prima pagina quest'uomo mi ha fatto arricciare le dita dei piedi *-* Due scene di sesso: la prima ti fa contrarre lo stomaco - perché è proprio vero che al buio totale è tutto mooolto più intenso! La seconda è a quella specie di festino/orgia: e lì si suda, girls, ma si suda proprio tanto *O* E quando lui la sbatte contro il muro in ospedale con le mani alla gola??? Aww il mio punto debole xD Super finale con cliffhanger e fingers, se capite cosa intendo... :P

Dovete sapere che ho atteso il cartaceo di questo libro per delle ere, per poi scoprire, non mi ricordo neanche come cacchio ho fatto, che l'autrice aveva deciso di accorpare gli episodi di questa serie per le edizioni cartacee. Quindi che cosa è successo: ho dovuto acquistare il primo volume, che comprende Deviant (già letto e amato) e Fracture.

Vi lascio immaginare la mia profonda irritazione, visto che invece il cartaceo del singolo Deviant era uscito. Oh sì, signori, avete capito bene: ora possiedo due Deviant -_- Vabbè, sorvoliamo...

Parlando di ciò che accade in questo secondo episodio di 141 pagine . . . meh :/
Si parte benissimo con la scena suuuper hot nella cucina di Sloane, dove l'avevamo lasciata insieme a Zeth alla fine del primo episodio. E *rullo di tamburi* c'è il fatidico bacio! Vi ricordate che nella mia recensione ufficiale di Deviant (clicca per leggere) vi avevo specificato che non c'era nemmeno un bacio tra i due? Ebbene, la grande Sloane ha preso l'iniziativa e quel poveretto di Zeth per poco non si metteva a piangere xD ahahahahahahah

Era tutto fichissimo . . .
. . . ma poi si è perso T_T

Ho sentito la mancanza della passione sprigionatasi tra Zeth e Sloane nel primo libro :(

Sono veramente combattuta. Non so se proseguirò con questa serie, devo rifletterci un po' su.

Woah, not at all what I expected.

I think apart from the unrealistic aspects of the novel, it is really easy to get into. Part of me kinda wishes for more of a connection with the characters but I can’t seem to care for them. I’m gonna try to see if I can get into the rest of the story but I’m not too confident.

The spicy scenes are great, I love the taboo darker elements. I’m just super disconnected from the plot and characters.

Book 1 and 2. Zeth surprised me. I thought Sloane would be doing all the chasing because hero is emotionally unavailable and I always hate that trope. But Zeth still knows what he wants and makes that clear from book 1!

Partiamo da una grande verità.
Stefania non è una appassionata di dark romance. Ne legge pochi, pochissimi, e dopo un'attenta selezione, ma se può li evita come la peste. Perchè? Semplicemente non concepisce determinati tipi di violenze psicologiche e fisiche. Lo so, legge thriller spietati, ricchi di sangue e carni maciullate, ma ehi la mente umana è difficile da comprendere, soprattutto la sua. E ne è consapevole, gente!

Zeth Mayfair ha visto la luce quando ormai ero in ferie e, sapendo dal principio da quanti volumi è composta la serie, ho preferito attendere - temo i cliffhanger come ogni lettrice che si rispetti.
Leggevo ovunque di quanto Zeth fosse magnifico, ma come dicevo sopra non ero ancora del tutto convinta di intraprendere il viaggio, ed è stato quando la CE ha pubblicato Incendio - terzo volume - che, di nuovo invasa di commenti stra positivi, ho capito che il momento era arrivato.
E mi sono insultata da sola per aver rimandato per quattro mesi una lettura magnifica.

Divorati. tre volumi divorati in tre giorni. Avevo gli occhi distrutti, non riuscivo a staccarmi dal kindle e come da programma, arrivata alle battute finali di Incendio, volevo subito il volume successivo.

"C'era una volta un ragazzo che viveva nell'oscurità... e ci si trovava molto bene."

Inizia così Corruzione, con questa citazione, e mai frase è stata più vera.
E poi, basta una notte per modificare un intero percorso.

Sloane Romera è disposta a tutto per ritrovare la sorella scomparsa. Anche a vendere l'anima al diavolo. Anche a rinunciare alla sua purezza per delle risposte.
Non ha previsto, però, Zeth Mayfair e cosa comporterà la notte che la cambierà per sempre.

Passano due anni e per entrambi quella notte è ancora impressa nella mente.
Sloane è diventata un medico, è diventata fredda, insensibile, ma il pensiero di ritrovare Alexis non l'ha mai abbandonata. Come non ha mai dimenticato il profumo, la voce e le sensazioni provate con quell'uomo che è diventato la sua ossessione inspiegabilmente le ha lasciato un buon ricordo.
Zeth, invece, prosegue la sua vita nell'oscurità. Il suo essere spietato non ha fine ed oggi è ancora più spietato.
Un imprevisto li rimetterà sullo stesso percorso e i ricordi si fonderanno con la realtà.

"Il mio stomaco sussulta. Quella… Quella voce. Porca… Mi porto le dita alle labbra, mentre scruto ogni millimetro del suo corpo. «Ci conosciamo?» annaspo. L’angolo della sua bocca si solleva in un ghigno crudele. «No». Vengo sommersa dal sollievo, ma è una sensazione che il mio corpo si rifiuta di accettare. «Avrei giurato di aver riconosciuto la tua voce». «Sono nato qui. Abbiamo tutti la stessa voce, dolcezza». Continua a negare, ma a ogni parola che pronuncia il mio stomaco si contrae sempre di più. Sento quella voce nei miei sogni, la riconoscerei dovunque. Non mi sto sbagliando, non mi sto assolutamente sbagliando. Quest’uomo è… è lui."

Alexis è la sua priorità, e solo Zeth sembra poterla aiutare.
Vedere Zeth nel suo ambiente, scoprire quanto può essere feroce e perversa la sua mente avrebbe dovuto far fuggire lontano Sloane ma, come non ci sono riuscita io, non ha potuto fare altro che cadere di peso nella sua trappola. E nel cadere, sa che il prezzo da pagare sarà altro come sa che tornare indietro non potrà.

Verrete travolte da Blood and Roses e, dopo aver conosciuto la penna di Callie Hart, tutti i dark romance letti più quelli che avete in lista lettura non avranno più lo stesso peso. Questa serie è una calamita, rivolterà il vostro essere e vi condurrà nelle viscere di un mondo corrotto, un mondo illegale, un mondo che per nessun motivo vorreste calpestare. Un mondo di cui vi ho raccontato veramente poco ma farlo significherebbe togliervi più di una imprecazione.
Brivido, adrenalina, paura, eccitazione, sono solo alcune delle mille e una sensazioni che questa lettura vi regalerà. Blood and Roses è un salto nel buio che invece di spaventare rende euforici e ad ogni colpo di scena, ad ogni rivelazione, davanti ai vostri occhi apparirà uno scenario inimmaginabile, folle ed imprevedibile.

Vi parlo di Corruzione e Frattura, i primi due libri che compongono la serie Dark romance “Blood and Roses”, della favolosa Callie Hart. Una serie con cui la Always Publishing inaugura la nuova collana Ever, e, permettetemi di dirlo, un inizio con il botto!

Sin dal primo capoverso, la Hart non ci lascia il tempo di abituarci, non gira intorno alle vicende ma ce le spiattella nude e crude, nere come l’inchiostro con cui sporca il foglio e, con la crudeltà dei suoi personaggi sporcherà anche noi ignari lettori.

Perché? Perché niente vi preparerà davvero a Zeth Mayfair e al suo mondo di odio e perversione.

«Pensi che sia appena uscito da un film horror, non è vero?». «Beh, non si può dire che questa sia una fiaba, no?». «Potrebbe esserlo, se lo permetterai». «Ah, sì? E chi dovresti essere? Il mio principe azzurro?». Ridacchia. «No, sciocchina. Io sono il lupo cattivo».

In Corruzione verrete catapultati nell’incubo di Sloane che nella sua disperata ricerca di informazioni su sua sorella, si ritrova al buio di una stanza d’albergo alla mercé di uno sconosciuto.

Sarà osceno, brutale e sexy da morire e darà inizio a una ossessione reciproca che getterà anche la Sloane “adulta” tra le braccia di Zeth: un predatore che non smetterà mai di seguirne i passi nell’ombra come il più tenebroso degli angeli caduti, garantendoci le vere scintille quando le loro strade si incontreranno di nuovo.

«D’ora in avanti scoperò solo te, dolcezza». «Vuoi dire fino a quando ti annoierai?» «Finché non mi sparano e la situazione è permanente. Finché non farai i tuoi cazzo di bagagli e scapperai via da me. Ma lascia che te lo dica, Sloane. Non disturbarti a scappare. Ti troverò. Resta qui e stai con me. Farò in modo che tu non te ne penta».

Se con Corruzione scaviamo nell’anima di Sloane, Frattura ha l’incommensurabile pregio di mostrarci parte del passato di Zeth. Incontreremo i suoi fantasmi, sbirceremo la sua infanzia e, forse, ci verranno rivelate parte delle sue vere paure; ammesso che ne abbia davvero. Quello che è certo è che sarà dannatamente meraviglioso cercare di scoprirlo e la vostra ossessione per lui crescerà in maniera esponenziale pagina dopo pagina, man mano che il personaggio scoprirà le sue carte, il suo cuore, la sua anima corrotta che forse vuole essere aggiustata anche se ancora non lo sa.

Mentre Sloane – pur essendo molto più in gamba delle amebe a cui siamo abituate – ricalca moltissimo la tipica eroina del romance, Zeth è un personaggio che mi ha affascinata sin da subito per il suo essere davvero, ma DAVVERO, cattivo. Uno dei personaggi più oscuri che io abbia mai incontrato nelle mie letture. È sadico per scelta, crudele per passione e uccide con grande godimento. Ha una sua morale nel non voler assolutamente trafficare in donne ma questo è il massimo grado di sensibilità che gli ho visto mostrare prima di Sloane e Lacey e in buona parte anche dopo di loro.

While the standard review is usually about one book, I decided to change things up a bit and share my thoughts with you on the Blood and Roses series in one review.

I met the two main characters of this series in the first book of the series Deviant. Sloan and Zeth are two characters that still haunt me months after having read the series.

My connection to Sloan was immediate. The intrigue I felt when she enters into the storyline was enhanced once I had a good feel for who she really is. Sloan is a strong, confident and well educated woman. Sloan is a woman who has a secret. She is willing to sacrifice herself in order to obtain her end goal. The question that remains is, is it really a sacrifice when the end result is not what you had banked on for years?

Zeth well where do I start? Zeth encompasses anything and everything that comprises the perfect alpha male. He is mysterious, sensual, dangerous, soft, hard and everything in between. He does not have to speak to command and he knows before you do what you want and how to make sure he delivers it in a way that will bleed into your soul.

The Blood and Roses series is dark. It is sensuous. It blurs the lines of genres giving us a story of mystery, intrigue, love, erotica, darkness and light. It makes us question our values, morals and ethics. It tempts and teases. It gives us a love story wrapped up in lies and deceit. It showcases the underground and the dark deceptive world that lurks within. It leads us into the lives of gangs, clubs and MC’s. It crosses lines and makes us want desperately for more.

The story which spans over 6 books never disappoints. In fact, each and every book in the series only makes you desperate for more. The continuous flow of the story is memorizing. The characters, and there are many, each add a certain depth adding to an already deep and dramatic storyline. The drama intrigue and mystery lead us down paths that make us gasp in horror. The intensity of the plot lines and the underlying tremors of love are written so beautifully for a story that at times cuts so deep.

You can’t help but become lost in the world that author creates for us in this series. With each page we are dragged deeper, hearing nothing but the author’s words as they explode within your mind.

The writing is precise. The twists and turns are perfectly place within the story and will surprise, delight and shock. The growth of the characters and their self-realization will mystify and the depth of which this story is will resonate within you.

Deviant, part one of Blood & Roses, opens in a hotel as Sloane, our heroine, arrives, against every fiber of her being, to sell herself for a night. Sloane will do anything to find her sister, who’s been kidnapped. So, when the price of information is herself, she doesn’t hesitate in putting her morals on the line. The last thing she expected was to be utterly raptured by the anonymous stranger and his penchant for all things kinky, dirty, and depraved whom she’s tasked to meet in a pitch-black hotel room.

When we jump ahead two years later, Sloane is working as a resident physician when the mysterious and unforgettable stranger walks into her ER. Zeth Mayfair is a criminal who screams violence but he just might be the only person who can help Sloane on her quest to find her sister, so, she agrees to succumb to any and all of his demands.

In book 2, Fracture, we delve more into the criminal underworld as Zeth looks for answers on Sloane’s behalf. He doesn’t want to believe his own boss might not only be involved in the skin trade but he may also be directly connected to Alexis’ kidnapping. The more he digs though the more obvious it becomes to him that much more sinister dealings have been going on in the organization than he’s realized.

For every question that gets answered here, the plot twists, and a million more pop up. This series is proving to be every bit as addicting as expected from Callie. This OG series by her is a bit more green than her newest releases but still delivers complex characters who bring hella delicious spice that leaves you wanting more.

When Callie shared the new cover, which is amazing!, for Deviant, my memory was jagged reminding me I still had to meet Zeth Mayfair! What better chance to correct this. The formatting of this book is as awesome as the cover and I can already picture it in my library.

Back to the story, we are introduced to Zeth and Sloane, Ms Hart surely knows how to draw the attention of the reader with this steamy prequel. She also understands the importance of making acquaintances with some interesting side characters. Consider me intrigued to get more of this world.

The story gets more and more interesting. As we learn more about the characters past the plot takes shape. Zeth is surrounded by an aura of mystery that promises heartache and the soul of a survivor. Sloane is fast becoming an interesting female character. I like her bravery despite the circumstances.

The angst between Sloane and Zeth is well portrayed and their interactions are leaden with and banter, needless to say I can see how impossible it is for Sloane to resist Zeth’s magnetism.

Although I read the 𝔇𝔢𝔞𝔡 𝔐𝔞𝔫'𝔰 ℑ𝔫𝓀 series first I’m still enjoying to find out what happened before. Having already met Rebel and his world didn’t take out the pleasure in learning Zeth’s story. Lacey and Micheal picked my curiosity as much as the two main characters, and I hope to see more of them in the books to come.

The high stars for this book confuses me, maybe because it was free. I cant see how Slone can make such a dumb decision, yet be intelligent enough to be a doctor. The guy Zeth just didn't do it for me at all. I didn't find him appealing or even sexy. Actually, I thought the guy was rather sleazy. He took a poor girls virginity while she worried sick over her missing sister. Decides to help two years later when she's in too deep. What a pig. There are much better books out there with better characters and a more interesting plot. The sex scene alone in the beginning was dreadful. Phones are easily replace able. Not telling your friend where you are, after the guy chokes you?

This was an Audiobook, so listening to this was much much worse. If you have two POVs than maybe not have the man speaking the women parts and the woman speak the men parts. You have a man and woman available...use them. The speakers (Slone and her friend) sounds like ditzy teenagers. The voice of Zeth just wasn't hot at all. Which ended up working out, because Zeth simply wasn't hot. I could download the other two audiobooks for this series. I was hoping it would get better. HA! I just don't find it worthy enough to waste anymore of my time.

-Oyster- I love the series! I've read all six books in the blood and roses series and loved the writing style, all the characters, and feel like this series had the perfect amount of drama, steam, dominance and possession, and love and emotion. The main characters Zeth (criminal and used to be hitman ) and Sloan (dr.) were perfect for each other. So sad about Lacey Zeth's sister but I understand the authors exclamation at the end. Very excited to read Michael's (Zeth's right-hand man) book and Rebels series (Sloans sisters husband, was thought of to be a very bad man and a human trafficker but is really a criminal with a soft side for saving women Who were sold into sex trafficking). My only minor complaint about the series was the amount of unanswered questions all the way through till the end.

the idea of the book is there but i couldn't connect or even like zeth as much as I wanted to. I feel like there's not enough emotional drive in this book and more plot based. the books aren't even that long but it took me forever to get through. it's really hard to picture the stakes with julio and charlie like I just don't get it. The book it self is lowkey confusing and vibes change every other second. i loved sloans chapters way more than zeths and was so bored when his chapters came. the smut scenes weren't as entertaining as I wanted them to be. I already bought the other two books so gonna have to get through those when I feel like i can take the story line and slowness of it. I really do wish I liked it since HD Carlton recommended it but let's hope i enjoy the next ones more

I must say I am in love with Callie Hart. I first read about Rebel in the Dead Man's Ink series and figured I would check out the B&R series while I wait for book 3 in the DMI series. WOW, all I can say is WOW! I love Hart's style, the intensity of her character's feelings. Non-stop action and intrigue. Oh and steamy romance scenes as well. I can't do straight romance, so the action, blood and guts that accompany it is all too amazing of a combination. ....................C. Hart has a new fan in me!

As a huge fan of Quicksilver, I thought I’d give this a try! I… was not aware that she also writes spicy mob-type romance. 🤪🙃 the 🌶️ is real in this one. 🔪 type, for those familiar with Lights Out. It was a quick listen while doing chores around the house. There are a few more in the series and I’ll probably listen to them, and won’t be so surprised when there’s some 🌶️ in the first scene of the book 😂

This novella had me on the edge of my seat. It was full of danger, action and lots of steamy moments.

Will Zeth help Sloane? Can he stay one step ahead of the bad guys?

I just can’t get enough of Zeth. I’m diving straight into book three.

I'm not sure what to really say about this book. At some points I want to say that Zeth's character is a bit much and not real and then Sloane's character is more of a challenge, but weak at times. I'be read this authors before. I will continue to read this series further to understand this story.

Beetje moeilijk om 2 boeken ineen een recensie te geven. Het begin is n beetje ver gaand wat Sloane doet voor haar zus. Uiteindelijk heb ik erg genoten van de 2 korte boeken. Boek 1 is meer op de sex gericht en boek 2 meer op de achtergrond van Zeth.
Callie Hart weet de dark sex scenes goed en beeldend te omschrijven 🔥🔥❤️❤️

New narrators for me. Hmm, coulda done without the antisemitic comment. Anaheim is OC, not LA 🙄. Other than my personal feelings and pet peeves, this was a very enjoyable listen, full of hot!! scenes andblatant danger. Characters, especially Lacey, are so interesting and well written.
