There’s only one girl Milo Markev has his eyes on and it’s Octavia Bellanti, the next heir donna of the Bellanti family. Unfortunately for him, she hates him, nay, she DESPISES HIM…or at least she thinks she does. Everything Octavia believes about Milo and his family has been shaped by a deep and traumatic past history but no amount of hate seems strong enough to stop the pull between them. The attraction is there, dangerous and impossible to ignore and Milo makes one thing very clear from the start: he isn’t going anywhere until Octavia is his.

Can I just take a moment to completely spazz out about this couple? Because I genuinely don’t remember the last time I was this obsessed with a book ship. Their chemistry in this was INSANE. The banter, the push and pull, the way Milo was constantly trying to get under Octavia’s skin while also being completely gone for her…it was everything. Milo is down BAD for Octavia and I loved every second of it. Honestly, the chapters from his POV were such a fun ride because you could see just how deeply he was gone for her from the start. And while it may have been instant love for him, it still felt earned because he had to fight through walls that even he didn’t realize she had built. Both of them carried their own demons and emotional baggage, and watching them slowly tear down those barriers for each other, y’all I was obsessed and couldn’t put the book down.

Octavia is THAT girl. Truly. She steals cars, steals hearts, and does it all with that effortless confidence that makes her impossible not to love. She’s a baddie to the core, but was like a real girl. She’s driven, smart, and genuinely cares about making a difference through the missions she takes on as Death. She has agency, purpose, and this determination that made me admire and fangirl over her from the first page.

And Milo…my man my man my man. Listen, I couldn’t help but drool, it’s not my fault and I own up to it.

“I am her boyfriend,” I say flatly. “I am her future husband. I am her family.”

I already knew I was going to like him from the moment we met him in the first book, back when he seemed like this love struck guy who was completely gone for Octavia, almost like a cinnamon roll stuck in the middle of a mafia world. But getting his full story showed there was so much more to him. Yes, he’s obsessed with her, absolutely head over heels, but he’s also layered, intense, and surprisingly vulnerable in the way he loves.

One thing I did not expect was how funny this book was. The boys constantly bickering with each other had me laughing so much, especially Adriano somehow becoming everyone’s shooting target. Poor guy could not catch a break! And don't even get me started on the cookies scene! Those moments added such a fun dynamic to the story and made the whole Bellanti crew feel even more alive. Also…can we talk about Mamma Bellanti for a second? Because I need to know more about her. Does one of these mafia families have a nice single dad/uncle/brother lying around who can come show her what real love looks like? I am INVESTED in Mama Bellanti’s wellbeing and won’t stop campaigning for her book.

“And that’s what I live for. You.”

The ending was perfect. Truly. But also…SB Lennox, I would not complain about an entire second book just about Milo and Octavia ruling as the heads of the Bellanti family. I would read that immediately, best believe you have my credit card details locked in for that one. This series has me completely hooked and I’m so excited to see where it goes next cause SB has such a talent for writing complex, layered characters who still feel completely themselves the entire time.

I knew I loved Octavia from the moment I read Kiss Me Like You Didn’t Kill Me, and now I’m even more excited for what’s coming next. Adelaide, Piper, and Eleanor’s stories are going to be absolutely wild, I can feel it. Final takeaway: ladies, if a man doesn’t look at you the way Milo looks at Octavia, he is not the one.

This is my first book from S.B Lennox. I recieved this book as an ARC. I am leaving this review with my own thoughts and opinions.

This is the second book of the series but I picked it up just fine without reading the first book (I do plan on reading the first book though). The book was well written with good in dept descriptions on all of the characters and scenes.

If you have triggers, definitely read them before starting this book.

Octavia is death. She rids the world of one predatory child abuser at a time. Really, it’s just training until she can get to the one person who hurt her the most. She’s the heir of the Bellanti family and will take over when her father passes. She’s a force to be reckoned with.

Milo Markev has his heart set on her. He’s obsessed. Will do anything to keep her safe and make her his. He hasn’t had an easy life. His father was abusive in more ways then one and tried to coerce him to be the same. When he wouldn’t give in, he was beaten.

Their chemistry is next level. She tries to stay away from him but he doesn’t allow it. He is there all the time. Keeping her safe. Following her. Learning her secrets. Their backgrounds are similar. Then he finds out why they are so alike.

This book has it all. It’s funny, there’s bickering, a lot of back and forth between Milo and Octavia, chemistry, dark and twisty moments, obviously death and even some team work! Can’t wait to see what the next book brings.

ARC read from author

Loved, loved, loved the story of Milo & Octavia.

Milo falls hard & fast giving definite "touch her & die" vibes, but Octavia can take care of herself..for the most part.

I feel like the main story line was written to be intentionally predictable. Both MMC & FMC background storylines are so similar, you know they've met before. The villain is determined early on with only a family name being mentioned...that just so happens to be Milo's name. However, just when you think you have it all figured out... PLOT TWIST! And there's enough of them to keep it interesting.

S.B. Lennox has written the characters very well. You can feel Milo's shattered heart when he thinks she's gone, but then finds out she's not. Cried my way through several chapters.

Although you can read this as a stand alone, I'd recommend reading the 1st book in the series, "Kiss Me Like I Didn't Kill You". Some scenes are more thoroughly explained when you get both stories. Absolutely, read the trigger warnings if you have any. "Kiss Me Like You Didn't Break Me" has some dark topics that may be too much, but I thought it was well written. I cannot wait for the 3rd installment.

Oh what an interesting introduction for Octavia and Milo. I can already tell from the second prologue that I am going to enjoy their story together and just how they push each other.

Octavia is continuously trying to kill Milo and I enjoy how he loves it and outsmarted her each time. Its like foreplay for Milo. They are the perfect partner for each other.

I have enjoyed following these girls and their love stories, as untraditional as they are, and I look forward to seeing the rest of them.

Things to look forward to:

Omg haha the cookie scene where Octavia makes the worst tasting cookies in the world and Milo holds a knife to her second in command and threatens his life if he so much as hints that the cookies are not good. I love Milos devotion to Octavia.

"The psycho finally meets his equal."

"I haven't seen my girl in three hours, twenty four minutes, and thirty four seconds. I am deprived."

This is a spicy, mafia romance where he falls first and falls hard! There were moments of laughing out loud and moments of sadness. Both main characters - Milo and Octavia - suffered major trauma in their lives and both found similar ways of dealing. Octavia constantly tries to kill Milo in the beginning, and it just makes Milo fall harder and faster. I love how deranged (in the best way) and obsessive Milo is and he will absolutely do anything for Octavia. The m&m cookie scene had me cracking up!

This is a story that will stick with you. It is 2nd in a series, and I cannot wait for the rest!

Rating this was a bit tough.

I loved everything about Milo and his down bad obsession for Octavia. I loved Octavia and her stabby tendencies. But the rest of it I didn’t really care for.

The book starts off confusing, perhaps because I didn’t read book one. But it kinda seems like all of these stories are happening simultaneously so that shouldn’t matter.

DROPPED.
The blurb reeled me in but like the first book, I found the writing style and the characters' mentality more suited for NA. Again, it screamed juvenile, written for the BookTok masses and lots of eye-rolling moment.

In other words, very 2-dimensional characters.
And so many CRINGEY dialogues/moments.
Yeah, no thanks.

Romance was too fast paced for me and the MMC was a little too obsessed for my liking 😬

I am all for a soft FMC but what I love more in a book a badass FMC and Octavia had me eating from the palm of her hands. And where was I standing while eating you ask - in Milo Markev’s hands. I need a man this crazy about me. I ate this up in less than 24 hours and that too while caring for a newborn!!

Arc:
Two broken souls, broken by similar experience, find each other on night. He fall first, and sooo hard for her! I really enjoy this book, the dark parts and the more light ones, Octavia and Milo are both crazy, but perfect for each other. Definetly going to read other books by the same author!
