Synjyn Rourke is the Devil You Know (ebook from Dark Shadowy Cabal). He is a pirate convicted of destroying a habitat ring and sentenced to a labor colony. The ship carrying him is attacked because he has value, but he manages to escape, somehow taking on the persona of a Consolidation Captain. But circumstances and help push him to a new place in life. Arthur Mayer tells a fun, exciting space adventure with more promised to come.

fun story!
This is a fast-paced space pirate/battle story that I hope has a sequel soon. Characters were interesting and well-developed; even minor characters had personality. Dialogue is snappy and there are lots of interesting details that let you get a feel for the world the story is set in.

Excellent story
While the premise of identity theft in such a digitized society strains credulity, the author nimbly sidesteps the issue with astonishing adroitness, offering up a semi-plausible evasion that even the main character has difficulty believing, which honestly adds to the overall tension quite nicely!
