Two deaths. One small town. And a secret that won’t stay buried.
When Sheriff Ray Duke finds a burned-out car on a mountain pass, it looks like an accident.
Days later, a former deputy dies in a “single-vehicle crash,” that looks like bad luck. But the scenes don’t match—and someone made sure the most important evidence disappeared.
As the investigation tightens, Duke’s best deputy, Reagan McCoy, realizes her past has followed her to Blue Sky. A restraining order cuts her off from the man she knows is lying, while a smooth corporate fixer offers answers that arrive a little too fast—and point a little too neatly at the wrong suspect.
One death was messy. One was clean. Both were meant to be quiet.
With state investigators closing in and a killer who knows how to make murder look like procedure, Duke has one chance to expose the truth—before the next “accident” ends it for good.
Just an opinion. Excellent story with believeable characters. Liked how well Biblical truths were weaved into the story. I felt that there was too much repetition of descriptive text - scenes of family, landscapes, etc. I found that I had to reread enough to catch the story line that it made it a bit annoying. The real issue- the mystery regarding Emily has been milked to access. I think you're an awesome writer and don't need to drag that out to write mystery with these same characters and location.
Dead Quiet by Kelly Cross is such a well written suspense novel. The characters are so well developed over the previous 5 books. The way the writer shows the consistent faith of the sheriff shows the way God works through life situations. His faith isn’t in your face but it’s his quiet way of running the sheriffs department in the small town. I definitely recommend these books that are very difficult to put down when it’s time for bed. Thanks for another great read!
This whole series has been a pleasure to read. If you like good, clean reading this a good series. I am waiting for the seventh book to be released in May.
This series just keeps getting better. The characters are interesting. The plotting was well planned. Even this far into the story I cannot put it down.
