This needs significant editing, both developmental and basic in-line items. Missing words, wrong words, and duplications are plentiful throughout the book. The characters were flat and formulaic and the dialogue especially scripted (no one says the other person’s name in real conversation to this frequency …) The story was different and I was hooked to discover the resolution, but it ended on a cliffhanger. Thankfully this was only 378 pages or I would have DNF’ed it.

I do think some people will enjoy it, and if so, good for them, but I wouldn’t recommend it widely and I would warn anyone going in to be tolerant of very obviously poor editing.

I got some Divergent x Silver Elite x Hunger Games vibes, but I also felt like this one was unique and different. I really liked the dystopian sci-fi world that the authors brought to life. Minta and Fletcher are both likeable characters. The citizens in this city all have different capabilities. Minta, the FMC, can see auras', and I thought that was cool. There’s also demerits and culling’s that happen in this world and it was interesting to see how all of that played out. The main characters and side characters are fleshed out and they’re all unique and different. Each one plays a role in the story. The twists and turns were great. A few I saw coming, but I was also pleasantly surprised with a few. The tension and slow burn romance between Minta and Fletcher was worth it.
There is a hook at the end of the story, but that just made me anxious for the next installment. I cannot wait to see what happens next.

Perfect for lovers of:
Secrets, so many secrets
Futuristic, tech island
Extraordinary abilities
Enemies to reluctant allies to lovers
Slow-burn romance
Who can I trust?
World-ending stakes

A very special thanks to the author for the gifted copy.

When Eden Falls is what happens when what is arguably Sophie Davis's most popular novel ever, Talented, grows up. Returning to the Dystopian roots that made them famous When Eden Falls has firmly moved away from their early YA beginnings to a full-fledged dystopian novel for adults.

With a brand new compelling set of characters, plot twists galore, and a brand new universe to play in this is the best thing they have put out in a long time possibly ever. In their release announcement to their fans they commented on the number of rewrites and the amount of editing that went into this novel. It shows in the best possible way. For fans of Sophie Davis who have never missed a book, those that drifted away and new future fans discovering them for the first time this is a must read. The only down side is it's left on a cliffhanger and I have no idea how long I'll have to wait for the sequel.

Note for those that don't know Sophie Davis is a pseudonym for two author's which is why I always refer to them in the plural.

"When did you stop hating me?"
"Who says I have?"

(I like this quote better. 🤣)

Okay so, obsessed is an understatement with this book. I love dystopian. And it's been a whole while since I've got my hands on it.

I thought about this book the entire time I wasn't reading it and now that I'm finished it's all I think about.

The atmosphere is there, the character building is fantastic, backstory beautifully woven in so as not to bore you.

Who do you trust? Everyone seems to deceive someone. And once you figure out the secrets..man.

I cannot wait to get my hands on their physical copy and see what goodies it comes with. Thank you The Sophie's for letting me read early - now it's gonna take all I've got to not think about this book until we get the next one. 😘

Talk about whiplash, in a good way. Trying to follow everything while guessing what is really going on is nearly impossible. Which I love a good mental challenge. Dystopian stories are some of my favorites, and as a girl who loved Talented growing up, I was very excited for this one.

The cliffhanger definitely caught me offguard and I am going to impatiently wait for book 2 now. Character development was spot on, the characters had depth, and we got to explore a lot about them. Minta definitely has a lot going on, but I am excited to see her journey continue.

Thank you so much for the chance to ARC read! I loved every second of this book, even if I forgot to hit post on this review for a few days!

Best dystopian I've read in a while

It's been so long since I read a dystopian novel, and I loved Sophie's Talented series years ago, so I was interested to check this one out.
I have to say I really enjoyed this book, it took me a little bit to get into it in the beginning but quickly started to enjoy it. This book has all the components to a good dystopian book, mystery, intrigue, futuristic technology, classism, villains and of course romance.
The storyline itself is not hard to work out, enough clues are given to guess at the small little twists along the way, and the enemies to lovers is easy to spot early on, but well developed.
The cliffhanger ending ... Well that I'm interested to see explained so hopefully it won't be too long until we see the next book.

I just finished When Eden Falls and binge read it in one sitting. It’s one of those books I could not put down and I haven’t done that in a really long time. I love dystopian novels but this one is a new fav!

The storyline felt so unique, and the characters were completely captivating (and sometimes frustrating but in the best possible way). Minta is a strong FMC, sassy, intelligent, and her power is relatable (you’ll understand when you read it!) I’m still swooning over Fletcher and his protectiveness over Minta. He’s swoon-worthy! And occasionally insufferable.

And that cliffhanger? Completely unfair. I need book two immediately!

When Eden Falls by Sophie Davis is an awesome book and such a fun dystopian read. The story pulls you in with a world that seems perfect at first, but the more you learn about Eden, the more you realize something isn’t right. I loved how the mystery slowly unfolds and how the main character starts to question everything she’s been taught.
It really captures the best parts of dystopian stories—secrets, control, rebellion, and that feeling that the truth is just beneath the surface. There’s also some great tension between the characters that makes the story even more engaging. Overall, it’s a really enjoyable book and definitely one I’d recommend if you like dystopian fantasy.

This book was one I didn’t want to put down. I love dystopian stories and this one makes me excited to see what’s next. As Minta and her friends discover the evil and wrongdoing in Eden we get to know each of them and their abilities. The characters are strong even though they may have been put through some very difficult circumstances. Learning what is hidden and how they will fight to have the truth known and what they will do next, is why I didn’t want to stop reading. With the cliffhanger ending I can’t wait for the next book in this series.

I do not think I have been so captivated by a story since I read the Talented Saga which is by far my fave series ever (not just by these Authors). Minta's journey is filled with action, suspense, friendship, twists and a touch of love. The way these Authors write the reader can feel everything Minta is gowing through -questioning her entire existense and who can she trust. This was a very hard book to put down and that cliff hanger ending....Ughghgh such a love/hate relationship with the Authors for leaving us hanging like that. Counting down the days till book 2

First off I'm a huge fan of the authors (two of them make the infamous Sophie Davis)!

This absolutely brought be back to dystopian and the days of Talia from Talented another series by the author.

I love the twists and unexpected scenarios that happens throughout the book... Araminta our fmc is definitely unique with how her powers are and she has to sort her emotions... Fletcher well I questioned his intentions and is he trustworthy the entire book and I still can pick a hard side of yes or no!

Cliffy yes but well worth the read!

If you love books with great plot progression, worldbuilding and character development, then this is the book for you! The world is fleshed out through the eyes of Araminta, the FMC, who impulsively does the right thing and constantly causes herself to lose credits which means she may have to skip some meals or some baths cause everything costs credits here. As the story progresses, many conflicts arise and secrets are revealed throughout. I'm so happy that this world doesn't just end with this book and will hopefully pick up from where we are left off.

Let me preface: I do not like dystopian novels. I have also not read fantasy in a long time. That being said, When Eden Falls drew me in like the Talented Saga did years ago. As soon as I started it, I could not put it down. Great new world, interesting characters, and twists that you could guess at, but never knew exactly how they would play out. This was a dystopian novel I'll probably reread several times.

It's been awhile since I've enjoyed a book as much as this, and I'm anxiously waiting for the sequel.

Well, done, Sophie Davis. Well done.

That ending!

“When Eden Falls” is definitely worth the read. It’s packed full of adventure and has you lost in the feels. I didn’t want to like Fletcher to start but the more he opened up, the more I started to like him. We need to talk about that ending! I need book two stat!!! I need to know what happens to everyone.

I am not one for dystopian or futuristic novels, and this was both but I couldn't put it down. Well done to Davis for writing a thrilling and unique book which normally I would have passed over.

I will say that the cliffhanger was diabolical and I'm looking forward to when the next book comes out so I can see what happens. All the characters had their unique quirks, even the ones you hate, which makes you want to root for them to succeed. Araminta was such an interesting character and I found myself really relating to her. The fact she has to sort her emotions into her specific boxes and lock them down really resonated with me. Her curiosity and sense of the abnormal really made me pay more attention to the odd happenings.

Fletcher was the most interesting character to me and I'm still not sure if it fully trust him at the end of the book or not. I have so many questions about his past and motivations.

While some events and conversations ended up being vague during reading I think this was more for the story progression and creating a sense of anxiety that lined up with Araminta's while reading. There were a couple of twists to the book, some that were surprising and one which was predictable for me.

Overall, if you like the genre of dystopian sci-fi or futuristic worlds, pick this one up but prepare for the cliffhanger at the end. I was unable to give it 5⭐️ due to some odd phrasing, grammar issues and spelling errors.

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
