When forced into close quarters, these enemies discover the real danger isn’t the clash–it’s the slow, simmering heat they never saw coming.
Reliable and determined, Jay Towlson walked away from professional football at the top of his game–or so the story goes. Now, with a newly discovered daughter and a second shot at the game he loves, Jay’s back. Not as a player, but as head coach of the struggling Sydney Hearts, a team just as desperate as he is for redemption.
Fiery and spirited, Felicity Butler doesn’t do permanence. She’s allergic to roots in the same way she’s allergic to cocky, charming, emotionally unavailable men. A jack-of-all-trades freelancer with a brain that never shuts up, Flick avoids commitment at all costs.
But fate has a sense of humour, and when Jay needs a nanny who won’t run for the hills, Felicity–with her unapologetic protectiveness and a temper like a summer storm–steps up… for the kid, of course. Not for him.
But will the King of Diamonds be able to ground his queen when the line between rivalry and romance becomes impossible to ignore?
Vyk is a lover of cheese, sparkling water and reading - not necessarily in that order. She loves to laugh, surrounded by good food and great company. Mostly, she can be found in the thick of the chaos which comes with raising two children, working and trying to survive the wild ride of life. All of which wouldn't be possible without the coffee and cooking of her amazing husband.
The rest of the time she can be found reading, writing or adding to her never-ending 'to be read' list. She is an Amazon Top 10 Author and is constantly thinking about what she can write next.
Reading the final book in a series is always bittersweet, especially when it’s your favourite one of the series. I’ve read a billion books in my life and I’ve never related so closely to an FMC than what I did with Felicity. I loved her!!!! I loved her flaws and her humour. I loved how she loved Violet without judgment. Their relationship gave me all the feels. Felicity is fiery but also unsure of herself. She’s strong but also vulnerable. I can appreciate that. The sexual tension between her and Jay was swoon worthy. Those particular scenes were delivered in a deliciously, seductive way. If you haven’t started this series yet then get on it!!!
It was such a pleasure to read king of diamonds by Vyk. With her last book she only had her street team arc read it and I have to say this book is hands down the perfect ending to this amazing series.
I absolutely loved this one so much. The banter between Jay and Felicity was so good. Then you have Jay's daughter Violet and she is a sassy fire cracker for her age. I really loved the chemistry between Felicity and Violet and how much Felicity bonded with her. The chemistry between Jay and Felicity was amazing as those two loved to get under each other's skin and it was so good. Loved the subtle moments between them especially when things started getting heated and them sharing a hot passion kiss. They both started to realise they were feeling things they shouldn't but who can deny the chemistry tho. I loved Andy, Jack, Sebastian and Cooper giving Jay a hard time about Felicity and telling him to ease up a bit and also loved that Arna, Marlee, Winter and Evangeline also had Felicity's back too. These characters just made the whole series the best. I love them all so much. This book had me riding my emotions all throughout this one. I truly enjoyed how this final book ended such a great series.
Definitely excited to see what Vyk has installed next and can't wait to read the next book she writes. If I had my way this series would rate a thousand stars and beyond for me. Truly one of my absolute favourite series that I will be sure to be reading again as when you love a book so much it becomes a book that you can read multiple times over. I am absolutely so proud of you Vyk and you absolutely should be proud of writing such a banger of a series.
Another banger by Vyk Peters that is full of her clever wit, hilarious banter and relatable characters. With a FMC who is fierce and loyal, to a golden retriever MMC who is a single dad to a sassy preteen, the book hangover was intense.
Enemies to lovers with a slow burn, some self-care sessions where he gets involved… hands off, and acceptance from his family that she never got from her own, I couldn’t help but see myself in Felicity and just wanted to reach through the page and hug her.
Vyk, congratulations on completing your first series. Your writing is so compelling, whilst also being really easy to read. I love that you clearly do extensive research on every topic you write on, and absolutely adore seeing the characters, from the previous books of the series, feature throughout this story.
My favourite microtropes of KoD: Friends who become found family Neurospicy representation Toys as team mates Just add water Peaches and scream She looks after him when he’s sick He’s her boss and she fkn hates him
I have been looking forward to Jay and Flicks book, their relationship in the previous books has always been fiery, so it was inevitable that sparks were going to fly in this book. There were several things I really enjoyed about this book, one of which was the slow burn. It was inevitable that Flick and Jay would get their HEA but it needed serious work to get to that point, and rather than Vyk rushing the story line it took 3/4 of a book for Jay and Flick to even realise that their feelings to each other were not just contempt and I loved that slow burn. Another thing I love about this book and all the books in this series is that many of the main characters are neuro diverse and Vyk has a talent of bringing this into the characters as a gift rather than a disability and I really appreciate that .
I have read all 5 books in 7 days, this series is TOP TIER 😍
An absolutely strong ending with Coach and Felicity in an enemies to lovers, nanny x coach, single daddy mash up 😍
As always throughout this series, the plotline made me kick my feet in glee and the writing style was A+! With just the right amount of spice thrown in there 😏
I rate this series right up there with The Windy City series by Liz Tomforde and Becka Mack's Breathe With Me series !
In book five, Vyk Peters brings us Jay Towlson and Felicity Butler’s story, and it absolutely did not disappoint. I’ve been waiting for their book since the very beginning, and every second of the anticipation was worth it.
King of Diamonds delivers everything I love in a sports romance — a beautifully written slow burn, forced proximity, found family, emotional depth, incredible banter, and chemistry so intense it practically crackles off the page. The hate-to-love dynamic feels completely earned, built through sharp dialogue, stubborn walls, vulnerability, and that slow, irresistible pull toward each other that keeps you hooked from start to finish.
And the yearning? Absolutely unmatched.
Every almost-touch, every loaded glance, every moment where they don’t say what they’re really feeling drags you deeper into the story. It’s the kind of angst that makes your chest ache while simultaneously kicking your feet and giggling when the payoff finally happens. And when it does? The spice is unforgettable. Vyk knows exactly how to build tension and deliver moments that stay with you long after you’ve finished reading.
Jay and Flick completely stole my heart. Their banter is elite — sharp, playful, emotional, and packed with chemistry. Jay as the AFL coach and Flick as Violet’s nanny created the perfect dynamic, balancing swoony moments with emotional vulnerability and genuine character growth. Watching Flick slowly learn to let herself feel safe and loved was honestly beautiful.
Flick’s relationship with her parents adds such a strong emotional layer to the story. Their impact on her fears, self-worth, and instinct to run made her character feel incredibly real and relatable. It gave the romance even more depth because you truly understood what she was fighting internally, not just externally.
And Violet? Absolute perfection. The connection between Flick, Violet, and Jay melted my heart over and over again. This book wasn’t just romantic — it was comforting in the best possible way. The kind of story where you promise yourself “just one more chapter” and suddenly it’s hours later because you physically cannot stop reading.
The water scene? ICONIC.
More than anything, King of Diamonds reminded me why this series has been so special. Vyk Peters created a world and a group of characters that became comfort reads for so many of us, and while I’m devastated to say goodbye to the Kings, this truly felt like the perfect send-off.
“Felicity, let me be your safe space. Stick to me and with me. Let me love you, because if you do, I will follow you.”
That line completely broke me.
Jay became Flick’s safety, her home, her person — and watching that journey unfold was emotional, beautiful, and unforgettable.
If you’re new to sports romance and looking for the perfect series to start with, this is it. And if you’ve been here since book one, prepare to fall in love one last time. I’m really sad this series has come to an end
Tropes: Enemies to lovers Forced proximity Sassy & hilarious tweenager She's grumpy X he's sunshine Hero mmc X fierce fmc Coach x nanny Single dad Sports romance (AFL inspired) Slow burn
Thank you to the wonderful Vyk for the opportunity to read her book King Of Diamonds which is the fifth book in the King Series. Starting this one was emotional for me as I knew this was the end of this fabulous series. But from the moment I opened those pages. I was home. I was hooked and couldn't put it down.
King Of Diamonds follows Felicity and Jay. These two have never seen eye to eye. They are the unlikely duo. But underneath all that dislike something is brewing. It all begins when Jay needs someone to look after his tweenage daughter. Felicity enters after being asked by some friends to consider the opportunity dispite her dislike for Jay. Felicity meets Jay's daughter and instantly hits it Off with her. Here begins our fabulous story.
These two have such a playful chemistry, fantastic banter, A fanstatic f *** it moment, fabulous growth for au characters, fabulous found family vibe, that forced proximity paired with a slow burn, that's steamy and the spice is 🥵 oh and he 💦 in his pants.
I could not get enough of Daddy Jay and Felicity.
If you’re looking for your next enemies to lovers with forced proximity and slow burn. Also let’s not forget AFL inspired check out Vyks newest baby King Of Diamonds.
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Spice: 🌶️🌶️
“Only you could bring me to my knees,” he murmured, voice low and rough as his hands settled on my thighs.
“Think you could stop talking and do something else with that mouth, Coach,”
“Felicity, let me be your safe space. Stick to me and with me. Let me love you, because if you do, I will follow you. We will follow you until you find what it is you’re looking for.”
And the safety was him. The man with the backwards cap, those eyes that had always seen too much, and a smile that even now still took my breath away. My forever home. My love. My safe space and the diamond of my heart.
King Of Diamonds by VYK Peters Book 5 of the, King Series Rating - ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫 4.5/5 Spice - 🌶️🌶️ 2/5
💎 Single Dad X Nanny 💎 Football Coach X Swimmer Instructor 💎 Enemies to Lovers 💎 Slow Burn 💎 Forced Proximity 💎 Found Family
Diamonds is a AFL romance, that makes you feel like part of a close-knit family. With relatable characters, witty banter, and snarky preteen sass, that will keep you thoroughly engaged.
Flick, a black cat, is known for being flighty since nothing has ever fully captured her attention, yet she remains fiercely loyal, compassionate, and feisty.
Jay, a golden retriever, has had his life turned upside down over the past couple of years and requires extra support to manage his home life as a single working parent.
There is a lot of tension and misunderstandings but both put aside their differences for the sake of Vi.
Thoughts - The relationship between Flick and Vi was very impactful. Having Flick around, helped Vi and Jay’s relationship develop naturally. It’s ok to be a butterfly but sometimes it’s okay to stay.
I thoroughly enjoyed everything about Diamonds, but I wish there had been more of a resolution regarding Flick's relationship with her parents and Jay's lingering anger towards his parents.
I would like to say thank you to VYK for this amazing opportunity to be an ARC Reader, for King Of Diamonds. Congratulations on completing your first series as an author - Kings Series. I received this advanced reader copy in exchange for my honest review.🖤🖤

You know those books where it’s like the author has crawled into your psyche and written a story that ticks all your trope boxes? Well, Vyk came very close with King of Diamonds for me.
💎 Single Dad x with the Nanny 🍑 ND representation 💎 Enemies-to-lovers 🍑 Forced proximity 💎 Found family 🍑 Perfect Banter 💎 Black Cat x Golden Retriever
And if that’s not enough of an incentive, she throws in a “fuck it” moment AND a scene where he 💦 in his pants!
The chemistry between Jay and Felicity is 👌🏼 and I loved that the book starts with them being actual enemies and not one-sided lust where they want the person but can’t have them so they treat them with snark and contempt. While the burn is slow, it doesn’t feel like it drags as storyline flows naturally while you become so invested in the characters.
I especially loved that there are multiple neuro-diverse characters that speak about their condition as something to celebrate not something to overcome, while still acknowledging that living with it is exhausting and overwhelming.
I did find myself getting teary at points in the book, but I think I cried the most when I finished and remembered that this is the last book in the series. I’ll absolutely be petitioning for all characters in the Kings universe to appear in future books!
Jay and Felicity are the definition of enemies to lovers. The tension, the banter, the absolute fireworks between these two were practically bursting off the pages in the long-awaited finale to the Kings Series. From their very first interaction, you can feel that push-and-pull energy building, and it pays off in the most satisfying way.
King of Diamonds delivers the slowest of slow burns, layered with respectful neurodivergence representation, humour, spice, and just the right amount of sparkle. I especially loved the depth of Jay and Violet’s father–daughter relationship- the way it evolved felt genuine, heartfelt, and added such a unique emotional layer to the story.
Found family. Forced proximity. Slow burn. Banter. Single dad. This book ticked every one of my buzzwords, and then some. It didn’t just meet expectations… it absolutely delivered.
A huge thank you to Vyk Peters for the opportunity to ARC read King of Diamonds. The Kings series is exactly what Australian romance readers have been waiting for, and this finale was the perfect send-off.
This final piece of the Kings puzzle was worth every minute of the wait.
The tension between Jay & Flick has been building so beautifully in the background of all of the other stories in the series and at last it is their turn to take centre stage.
Sometimes the very person that is everything you have ever needed is right there and is disguised as all the things you dont want!
Their differences balance one another exquisitely without even trying, once they stop fighting the ridiculously obvious attraction that literally everyone else can see.
I love the way that living inside a busy brain was handled. Flicks own experiences making her the perfect person to help Violet find her own ways to navigate her world.
Loved this book so so much and am so grateful to have been one of the lucky ones to read it early! The Kings series will always have a prominent place on my bookshelf!
VYK MF PETERS just as I thought I’d found my favourite couple in the Kings Series, you had to introduce daddy Jay & Flick.
I mean I’ve loved their banter since we were first introduced to them but this book is a solid 5 stars for me!
Felicity “Flick” is a flight risk as her family would say. She feels so deeply and strongly that she nopes out of situations before she can get the feels.
So why is she all of a sudden becoming attached to the kid she’s nannying for Daddy Jay, and as an extension to that, enjoying the man she finds most annoying?
I read this book so fast. I loved everything about it. The growth in the characters was amazing. The connection between Flick & Violet as well as Violet & Jay just melted my heart.
I love happy endings and we all know after reading the other books in this series that this is a great book to end with.
What an epic way to finish the King's series! It's bittersweet 🥹 I highly recommend and think you need to add this series to your TBR!
I am absolutely in love with Felicity and Jay 😍 The tension had been building between these two along the way of the other Kings books and I've been so excited to finally read their story! This book was definitely a 5 star read for me! I vibed with Flick and loved how absolutely annoying Jay was but their chemistry was fire! The banter was perfect! The spice was spicing! I love Forced Proximity, Enemies to Lovers and Found family so this book ticked all the boxes for me! It had me giggling, gasping and in aww! It definitely exceeded my expectations and I can't even believe it because I already knew it was going to be incredible! 😍
I am so grateful to have read this beauty for Vyk early! Thank you dearly 😘
Vyk thank you so much! King of Diamonds was the perfect end to an amazing series.
Jay and Felicity are the absolute amazing enemies to lovers couple. Their banter and quips at each other are epic. I love how Jay pushes her buttons so she will fight back and he knows he will never win. I love watching Jay navigate fatherhood. Violet is a firecracker and the moments between her and Jay are beautiful and loving.
King of Diamonds gave me so much laughter but underneath it all there was so much love, loyalty and family that I made my heart explode with joy.
"Felicity, let me be your safe space. Stick to me and with me. Let me love you, because if you do, I will follow you. We will follow you until you find what it is you're looking for."

I’d like to thank Vyk for the privilege of this ARC and the final book of the Kings series. Which honestly kind of breaks my heart.
I’ve really enjoyed this series. And this book was no exception. Felicity was someone I felt I related to in a lot of ways. The tension was built so well. Maybe a touch too long, but I still thoroughly enjoyed it. Jay was so patient and understanding, both to Flick and Violet and it was so lovely to see his warmth to both of them.
A great ending to what is a brilliant Aussie football romance series.
King of Diamonds is the perfect final instalment of the King series, and what a way to close out a world that so many readers have fallen in love with. Vyk Peters delivers everything you could want in a finale—heart, chemistry, humour, and all the emotion of saying goodbye to characters who feel so real.
Jay and Felicity (aka Autumn) absolutely steal the show. Their banter is next level—sharp, playful, and packed with chemistry that jumps off the page. Every interaction between them is entertaining, and their connection feels effortless and addictive to read.
The AFL coach x nanny dynamic is elite, bringing the perfect mix of tension, charm, and swoon-worthy moments. And yes… we all love a water scene. That scene is unforgettable and added even more spark to a story already overflowing with emotion and heat.
More than anything, this book is a reminder of why this series has been so special. The world Vyk Peters created has been such a joy to escape into, and King of Diamonds feels like the perfect send-off.
I’m going to miss these characters terribly, but this final book was everything it needed to be and more.
What a way to finish off this series. We’ve seen bits and pieces of both characters throughout the series, that you wanted more, needed more. Flick and Jay are the goals honestly! Feisty, loveable, pasts that have shaped the adults they’ve become, relatable, comfort reading at its finest and you need to know more, you know the one more chapter you promised yourself but five chapters later you are still reading.
This whole series has been fantastic and while I’ve loved every bit of it, I’m also sad to see it finished. Thankfully I can reread whenever I’d like a comfort read or needing to get out of a book slump, this series would definitely do it.
So I originally rated this book 3 stars but after processing the story and the characters I upped it to 4 stars. How can I not!!??? Vyk is a master in character building then bringing them together in a whirlwind of emotions. I felt everything her characters felt. They can be so relatable. I’m so sad that this series has come to an end. I just want it to go on and on and on.
I can’t believe it’s over!!! The most perfect ending to the most perfect series😍😭 Daddy Jay was the absolute best and the dynamic of him, Felicity and Violet was so so fun and then the group chats😂 We love you Queeny!! Ready for the next world created by Vyk💚💚
Thank you to Vyk for this advanced copy. We have waited a long time for Jay and Felicity to get their story and I forgive you for taking so long. My favourite so far.
Like every other book in this series, Vyk has done it again! What a perfect book to round out this fantastic sports romance series! We've been hanging on since book 1 for their turn 😊.
Found family... slow burn.. Forced Proximity.. Coach x Nanny.. it has it all!
Gripped from the first page with a slow burn that has that angst building to the point where you kick your feet and giggle like a school girl when that moment finally happens,...it's so well written.
If you've never read sports romance and are wanting to find a perfect intro into this genre, this is the series to do it with ❤️❤️.
Thank you Vyk for the Advanced copy. Sad to see the end of this series, but excited to see what you have next in store 💕
Thank you Vyk Peters for bringing the final piece of the puzzle to my hands as an arc read!!
King of Diamonds absolutely nails the hate-to-love trope in a way that feels earned rather than rushed. The tension between the characters builds through sharp dialogue, emotional walls, and just enough vulnerability leaking through to keep you hooked. It’s not instant chemistry—it’s resistance, frustration, and then that slow, inevitable pull toward each other that makes the payoff so satisfying.
The yearning in this book is on another level. You can feel it in every almost-touch, every loaded glance, every moment where they don’t say what they’re thinking. It drags you through the emotional trenches (in the best way), making you root for them even when they’re being stubborn or self-sabotaging.
Flick’s horrible parents add a heavy emotional layer to the story. Their impact isn’t just background noise—it actively shapes Flick’s choices, fears, and sense of self. It gives the romance more depth because you understand what Flick is fighting against internally, not just externally.
One of the standout elements is the new dad perspective. It was something I’d never read before in this context and I loved that protective side we got to see of Jay.
The slow burn in this one is real, and the buildup is absolutely worth it. When it finally tips over, it feels deserved and explosive rather than rushed or gratuitous. So much so that I was sitting at the airport crushing my legs together I was so turned on!!
The neurodivergent representation is another strong point. It feels thoughtful and integrated into the characters.
Finally, a very real reader experience moment: my Kindle literally stopped working right at the first sex scene. Devastating timing.
Overall, a perfect ending to a perfect series. Vyk, I am forever proud of you and will forever be your biggest fan.
Ahh guys, you’re going to love this one, add it to your TBR immediately!
What a wonderful way to finish off the King series. In book five, Vyk brings us the story of Jay Towlson and Felicity Butler, and it absolutely did not disappoint. I’ve been looking forward to this release, and it delivered in every way. It’s a captivating slow burn that really brings the heat when it finally hits. The spice? Memorable. The kind that has you wishing your partner was nearby (I know I was 🙊).
It’s bittersweet finally reading this one, I’m definitely a little sad there are no more Kings to meet. Luckily, there’s always time for a reread.
