They were the new world’s only hope. Now their only hope is running from the very people they were created to protect.
Javen and Gara were bred to be the perfect soldiers, protecting New Earth from the scourge from above. As lovers, they were created to resonate in perfect harmony with each other, their lives the stuff of legends. But they proved to be evolution’s darlings, developing beyond anything the scientists had ever dreamed of, their advancement eclipsing that of their creators.
Now their only hope is a planet of their own, where they can live free -- free to construct a new society based on the ideals of justice and honor.
But with dangerous factions at work, a mysterious prophesy, and an old enemy amassing, this stunning melody may ring out with the perfect notes to save the worthy and unworthy alike. Freedom demands an awful price.
Publisher's Note: This Box Set contains the previously published novellas Space Opera and Space Opera: The Second Movement.
Praise for Space Opera
"If you enjoy stories full of action, in the bedroom and out of it, stories also full of interesting characters and an attention-getting plot, you will thoroughly enjoy this book." -- Jacquelyn R. Ward, The Romance Studio
"Space Opera is a multifaceted sci-fi odyssey with very imaginative characters. Stephanie Burke exhibits an ingenious ability that captured my attention to the end." -- Rosemary, Joyfully Reviewed
"Stephanie Burke is a gifted story teller and has always been. I love the way her imagination works, the way these beings draw me into her stories. I love the characters, Javen and Gara, the way their love is so deep. They have been together since one hatched and one taught the other all there was to know before they became lovers. The way she writes the story, you don't want it to end, I know I sure didn't." -- Nicole Harvey, ParaNormalRomance.org
Praise for The Second Movement
"Ms. Burke weaves a seamless tale of unconditional love, friendship, heartbreak and power in this second installment of her Space Opera and I loved getting to meet these men and learning their story. The dialogue is snappy, the sex sizzling and the emotions are so poignant, I sniffled quite a bit!" -- Narcissus, Whipped Cream Reviews
"Just as in the first installment, this book has plenty of fantastic creatures, magical settings, a clear conflict of good vs. evil, and humor. There's also a great big helping of sex, making this a truly entertaining read... Stephanie Burke has once again written a fun and erotic sci-fi/fantasy story that's perfect for a lazy summer afternoon." -- Bella, TwoLips Reviews
"Stephanie Burke delivers yet another extraordinary plot and hilarious dialog which will hold you spellbound. The intimate scenes are breathtaking, and the story leaves you panting for more. I can't wait to see what happens next." 5 Nymphs! -- Chocolate Minx, Literary Nymphs

Javen and Gara are a genetically created couple. Javen in a dragon shapeshifter: his is an old race; they are very strong but also clever, they are driven by intellect. But they are also a cold blood race and need a balance with a warmer race. Gara is a half-feline race: they are smaller in body than the dragon, but they are stronger and more primitive; they are driven by passion and need the cold behaviour of their dragon. Every dragon is paired with their mate when his companion is still a cub, and they rear their mate, they teach them everything, and it is time, they mated with them.
Humans used these couples like warrior and allow them to stay together. But now some scientists has found something strange in Javen and wants to conduct more experiment in him. Javen knows that his mate never allows to nobody to hurt him and together they will find a way to be free, forever.
Not so short but still a little too. This is a fantastic novel, I think one of the best I read lately by Changeling Press. Javen and Gara are a wonderful couple. Javen is so cool! He is older and taller than Gara, and he has also a sober behaviour but with a subtle humor you can discover sometimes in his action. Gara is all fire, all passion. He is younger but his dragon has taught him to be a dominant and he has fully learnt the lesson. But he is also capable of extreme tenderness for his dragon. Fortunately I think this is a first installment of a new series cause I really want to now how Javen and Gara will deal with their new life.
The futuristic novels by Stephanie Burke have always a taste of bitterness and a breeze of hope in them: I also reccomend Shadow Dancer, edit by Loose Id
Many compliments also to Karen Fox for her wonderful cover, even if I imagine Javen a little bit taller
This was a different kind of reading for me. I hadn't been familiar with shunga. I thought the mix of Japanese legends and futuristic aspects was very creative. The protagonists were very tender and loving with each other. The relationship was long-established. I guess rather than the beginning of a romance, this one was "sympathetic creatures vs. man" and "sympathetic creatures vs. the universe" plus the characters being mates.
