Janice Maynard came to the writing life early! When her third grade short story, “The Princess and the Robbers”, won a red ribbon in a school arts fair, Janice was hooked. She followed up that early success with a more commercial piece in the sixth grade… “Why My Mom Loves To Drink Coke”. No advance for that one, but she won a six-pack of Coke… remember those great little bottles?

In junior high Janice began circulating her work to a wider audience. A dozen or so notebook pages stapled together made the rounds in some particularly boring classes, with the riveting tales carefully hidden behind textbooks.

High school meant the big time… editor of the school newspaper, the Maroon and White. Janice used her insightful editorials to delve into such meaty subjects as “locker room odor” and “why we need two-ply tissue in the student bathrooms”.

College brought lots of writing, but very little of it creative… four years later, Janice stepped into the adult world as a fully certified elementary teacher.

Despite motherhood, full-time employment, and keeping up with an “always into something” husband, Janice never lost her love of writing or the desire to be published. In 1996 she realized her long-time dream when Kensington Publishing bought her first book, Sweetheart. That exciting moment was followed by the sales of two more books in the Precious Gem line.

In the fall of 2002, Janice left the classroom to pursue writing full-time.

2.5 stars!

I liked the premise of a Vegas casino heiress falling pregnant after spending a wild night in Vegas with a mysterious man. I thought it was going to be fun with a bit of angst but the story never really came together for me. Most of it were undeveloped, which was unfortunate. For one, I couldn't connect with Cassidy and Gavin either individually or as a couple. I don't feel invested in their relationship either. Gavin was a bit of a jerk and I don't understand why Cassidy fell in love with him. I did enjoy Janice Maynard's writing style. I wish this story was more developed though.

Okay so let me start of with that this was one of those books that made me so freaking excited to buy and when i read the first page, I loved it.

And then i moved onto the next few pages thinking it's not so bad and then it quickly unraveled to a poorly executed book where the female protagonist sounded like she was 10 most of the times and her loving family was just pure idiotic. Not to be insensitive but the male protagonist's dark past that held him back from completely giving himself to her was laughable. It was unbelievable and I managed to look past it just to see how this can end.

I thought maybe it'll get better. The ending will justify the cause. No. This book did not do it at all. She forgives him too easily and he feels no remorse for leaving her all alone for that time he was too stubborn to admit feelings.

A good read with yet another troubled man. Right before graduation from college he was falsely accused of rape. He took the gal out one time and he was not intimate with her. She ended up being a mental patient that had escaped the mental hospital where she lived and took a friend with her, him posing as her lawyer. She scouted out the guys on campus looking for one from a wealthy family and she found her mark. He spent time in jail etc etc.

But now all these years later he still refuses to trust any woman...ever. He met a gal that he was crazy about and they had one night together. Yep she ended up pregnant but he kept her at a distance and fought tooth and nail not to fall in love with her. He was unnecessarily unkind and uncaring which happened over and over until I wanted to scream. But I tolerated this one better than some of the others in this series and the story had a great ending.

So as it is, Gavin Kavanagh isn’t much into relationships. All that changes when Cassidy Corelli stalks into his life like a breath of fresh air and things heat up pretty fast. One passionate night together and Cassidy ends up carrying her lover’s child. All she can hope for now is a positive response from Gavin when she breaks the baby bombshell to him. Because her livelihood and happiness rests on Gavin’s decision. But Gavin has his own drama going on in his life. An experience in his past keeps him from fully rejoicing in the news that he is to be a father. Eventually Cassidy makes him realize that he can still be happy even if his past has not been so good.

Author Janice Maynard packs an intense and compelling punch to the love at first sight trope in TWINS ON THE WAY. Brilliant writing makes this convincing story a must-read!

Good story. Gavin is in Las Vegas, filling in as a speaker at a convention. When it's over, he's full of energy so he goes on a long walk. He comes across a woman being attacked and rescues her, taking her back to his hotel when she doesn't want to go home.

Cassidy is the daughter of a Las Vegas casino owner. She has worked very hard to show her old fashioned father that she is just as good at the business as her brother is. She hasn't had the time or inclination for any romantic relationships. When an argument with her brother escalates, she is stunned to have a stranger come to her rescue and whisk her away.

Cassidy and Gavin have a case of instant attraction. Gavin is a bit of a loner, having been burned badly by a woman when he was in college, and he is surprised by the strength of his feelings for Cassidy. He is wary of being with her, but the chemistry is hot and he will be gone from Vegas the next day. Cassidy had never felt that way around another man. The feelings are strong enough that she wants Gavin to be her first. Though he seems to be rather cynical, she also senses that he is a good man. Since he's leaving the next day, she also feels that it will be safe to give in for once.

But what happens in Vegas doesn't always stay in Vegas. Ten weeks later Cassidy has discovered that she is pregnant. Her father is furious and kicks Cassidy out of their home, leaving her no choice but to go to Gavin for help. He hasn't been able to forget her and is stunned when she shows up on his doorstep, claiming to be pregnant. He doesn't trust her, thinking that he's being used again, but he can't turn her away.

Deep in his heart Gavin knows that Cassidy's babies are his, but his fears hold him back from claiming them. It doesn't stop him from taking excellent care of Cassidy as she battles morning sickness and the hurt inflicted by her father. Cassidy's pride makes it difficult for her to accept Gavin's help, but she does so because of the babies. Getting to know Gavin better also helps change her feelings from simple attraction to love, but she won't confess her love to a man who doesn't trust her.

When her father calls and asks for her help with a problem at the casino, she asks Gavin for his help. He's there for her with the results and when she confronts her father and brother. He's fighting his feelings and his past and nearly loses it all before he finally sees sense. I loved his moment of grovelling at the end, before Cassidy puts him out of his misery. I loved the epilogue and meeting those babies.

Even though he doesn’t want to believe that he could have fathered her baby he knows that the baby is his.

This is the fourth installment in this series and I have to say that I’m happy that Gavin finally got his happily ever after even though I believed that he was going to screw it all up. He had a hard head and didn’t want to listen to his heart but I’m glad that he finally heard it but it seemed it could have been a little too late.

When Cassidy Corelli was saved by Gavin Kavanagh she knew that he was a good guy. She was a little scared in the beginning but she knew that she wanted for him to be her first. There was only one problem it seemed that they were both burning up with passion and they both wanted to each other badly.

When Cassidy shows up at his home almost 10 weeks later he can’t believe that he fell for it again she was a woman with an agenda. He knew it was too good to be true and what happened to him when he was in college is happening all over again. I felt so bad for Cassidy because she was a very nice woman and what her father told her was shocking. Now she is living with him and he is being so nice to her and helping her out. They end up going to get stuff for the baby but his mouth gets him into trouble but not only that a phone call changes everything.

Twins on the Way is the fourth installment in the Kavanaghs of Silver Glen and it was another great read. I love Ms. Maynard’s writing style and how everything just flows so smoothly. The characters were well written and the pace of the story was perfect. The chemistry between Cassidy and Gavin is evident from the beginning but it took him just a little bit longer to put his past behind him and go for the love of his life.

Cassidy sucked me into this story right away. She was raised by her father, always wanting his approval, and praise. Her mother died when she was little. Cassidy was sent to a all girls high school. she didn't have time for boyfriends. she strived to make good grades throughout high school, and college. Her dad pitted Cassidy, and her brother Carols against each other. The two were always competing against one another. Both wanted to work in the family owned casino next to their father. I loved her innocents when she meet Gavin. she had never been attracted to a man before. Gavin brought a wild side out, that she didn't even know she had. The author pinned her innocence perfectly. Gavin and Cassidy had a magical time in Vegas. It was like love at first sight, fate brought the two together.
When Cassidy found out she was pregnant, her old fashioned dad cut off her credit cards, and kicked her out of the home, and the family. my heart ached for her. she had no choice but to go to Gavin and let him know he was going to be a father. Gavin had been hurt by a female before, so he did not believe he was the father. I thought that was silly. He knew she was a virgin just a few short weeks ago. I did like how he took care of her, and helped her through the morning sickness. I could feel the love through his actions, and the way he watched over her.
The suspense of the story was good. The two had to work through some obstacles, before they got to the happy ever after. It took Gavin a little longer to know he was in love. With what happened to him college, I can understand. It would make most people skittish, and skeptical.

If you are searching for a sweet, and short romance, with very little drama, then I would recommend this one.

Twins on the way by Janice Maynard is a wonderful addition to her series, The Kavanaghs of Silver Glen.

Cassidy Corelli has always worked her heart to prove to her father that she can easily have a leading role in his Vegas casino. She throws caution to the wind one night and ends up in the arms of a compelling stranger. When her one night of passion ends up in a pregnancy she is left to deal with it alone after her father deserts her. Cassidy goes in search of the man who is her babies father.

Gavin Kavanagh has made multi million deals hand over fist but has never dealt with the likes of Cassidy. He was badly burned before and the marks on his soul are still deep. Gavin wants to trust Cassidy but trust does not come easily for him. Now with twins on the way they both need to evaluate where they go from here.

Cassidy and Gavin both are gun shy where the other is concerned. They both need to let go of the past to enjoy the love they both deserve.

Twins on the way is a wonderful story of instant attraction that can build to a lasting love. The chemistry between these two is off the chart and their relationship is flirty and sexy. This book is a must read and will steal your heart.

I received a copy of this book from NetGalley for an honest review.

I have to say that this book was very enjoyable and I really loved it. The author did a great job and I hated when I reached the end. Who knew that these characters Cassidy Corelli and Gavin Kavanagh would meet each other the way they did and it was an instant connection.

The characters in this book had some things that they had to get over. Cassidy gets over hers before Gavin, he starts second guessing everything. If you had what happened to him in college you would be cautious and second guessing yourself.

This is a hard review to write because I'm afraid I will give something away and I don't want to do that. I will just say that you really just need to read this book to see what's going on. Who knew having twins would bring these two back together.

I will be reading more books by this author and I just want to say that you will be missing a great book if you don't give this book a chance.

Read my complete review at my book blog.

Cassidy Corelli is caught up in a back alley in an argument when a white knight walks by and “saves” her from her attacker, never mind that it was just her brother she was fighting with. Gavin Kavanagh thinks he’s just saved a working girl or another streetwise inhabitant of Las Vegas. Little does he know that in his hotel room is the workaholic daughter of a local casino owner. Cassidy has spent her entire life trying to show her father that she’s smart enough and dedicated enough to run his very prosperous enterprise instead of her brother who her father seems to favor. She just wants one night off. Maybe in the arms of this stranger? It is Las Vegas after all...

"Twins on the Way" by Janice Maynard is a continuation of 'The Kavanaghs of Silver Glen' series. It can be read alone or as part of the series. I recommend the series but if you were to start with this story you'd be able to follow along. It is a quick, easy read, and was thoroughly enjoyable.

Cassidy Corelli is a workaholic virgin who spends a marvelous night with Gavin Kavanagh. Their one completely FULL night of passion came with a consequence. She became pregnant and her father kicked her out. She finds her way to Silver Glen in the mountains of North Carolina. Will they be able to work out not only their feelings for each other, but how two complete strangers can cope as parents while fighting their attraction for each other.

Definitely worth a read.

Cassidy Corelli has truly lived a sheltered life and one that is always spent trying to please her father who owns a casino in Vegas. Gavin Kavanagh has his own business and is in vegas on a business trip. What transpires is a case of instant attraction and a women w burned in the past and wants just a fling which is fine by Cassidy as she wants to run her fathers casino. However what "Happens in Vegas" cant stay in Vegas this time because their time together produced twins. A wonderful story that I couldn't put down.

Twins On The Way by Janice Maynard was a good book. Gavin Kavanagn was in town on business. While out walking he went to rescue Cassidy Corell from a guy who was shaking her. He punched the guy. Took Cassidy back to his hotel room. They were together all night. In the morning he went back home. Cassidy later found out she was pregnant. Her father kicked her out of his casino business until she got married. Cassidy went to Gavins home town. Gavin doesn't believe the baby is his at first. A good read.

Cassidy Corelli, yearns to be her fathers right hand woman in the casino he owns in Vegas. She is a workaholic and a virgin, waiting for that one special guy. One night in an alley while fighting with her brother, someone comes to her rescue, that someone being Gavin Kavanagh. The rescue escalates to one wild night of passion which leads to a pregnancy. Her father disowns her, she's left with only one place to go. The baby daddy in North Carolina, Gavin!
Gavin has been burned before when he was 21. Full of cynicism, he wants a paternity test. Until then, he is determined to keep his hands to himself and stay out of her bed. The pregnancy hasn't been easy, she's sick with morning sickness, the day of the ultrasound arrives and she finds out she is carrying not one but 2 babies. Will Cass stick to her story of the babies being his or will he be burned again? Gavin doesn't believe in love at first sight but something has caused this continued passion. Can he let go of the past in time or will it be too late?

I enjoyed this book by Janice Maynard. We have a flirty, sassy first time girl & a very wary about relationships & women type of guy involved in this sweet, funny & emotional story. Cassidy & Gavin meet in a dark alley in Vegas when he saves her from what he thinks is someone trying to assault her. What happens next is surprising for both, when the sparks fly between them the only thing to do is let them ignite. When the night is done Cassidy & Gavin go their separate ways both thinking this is done. Life throws them a few surprises & love, lust & the past get tangled up & keep them at odds with each other, neither believing that the other could actually have the same feelings. Definitely recommend to read.

I liked the interplay between Cassidy Corelli and Gavin Kavanagh and I’m looking forward to reading more about Gavin’s family. My problem is Cassidy’s family. Cassidy’s father is so proud of her and yet when she tells him she is pregnant he goes ballistic, cancels her credit cards and throws her out of their home telling her not to come back until she is engaged or married. Seemed rather drastic.

See more of my reviews on my blog Thoughts At One In The Morning.

My Thoughts:

This story was definitely one of those that had all sorts of ups and downs, and back and forths. Your heart goes out to Cassidy because here she is, pregnant with twins, and her father kicks her out. Then she goes to see Gavin, the father of her babies, only to have him be extremely reluctant to believe they could even be his.

Of course, Gavin isn't the kind of person to just let her go, knowing she was on her own now. It doesn't take long until the passion from their night in Vegas begins heating up, against their better judgment. Then Cassidy gets a phone call from her father asking for someone to check into who's been stealing from him. With Gavin's assistance, they search for an answer, and in the meantime discovering where their lives are going to lead.

Twins on the Way is a sweet and charming novel. I enjoyed seeing how things changed between everyone--between Cassidy and her father, and between Cassidy and Gavin. Janice Maynard knows how to keep things interesting.

My Rating: Very Good

What did I think? 4 Stars

Would I recommend it?
Yes, I would recommend this book, it wasn't the best, but I still really liked the story. I liked Cassidy and Gavin's characters, but I'll admit there were times where I really wanted to slap Gavin for being an idiot.

The characters romance definitely wasn't believable, but I still enjoyed it, and it didn't take away from the story. The characters on the other hand were very realistic.

This book is a great, quick read. Lately I've been mostly into romantic suspense books, so since this is a Harlequin Desire it's definitely a little more heated than I'm used to when it comes to the sex scenes. However, I like that it wasn't overdone and it didn't make me want to cringe.

Overall, I think that this book is worth the read, it's a light, quick and enjoyable way to spend an afternoon!

Thank you Harlequin via Netgalley for providing me with this book in exchange for an honest review!

Received this through winning the Goodreads First Reads giveaway. This doesn't not change my viewpoint of the book; this is an unbiased review.

Had a good story and premise. The chemistry between Cassidy and Gavin was strong and I didn't want to put the book down. I had to know what happened between them.

The problems stem from underdevelopment. We don't learn a lot about the characters and the relationship with the main characters was not fully explored. Also the ending and everything leading up to the end wrapped up a little too quickly, not a lot of conflict occurred. I still like these kinds of stories from Harlequin so I will keep buying and reading them. Good job Janice Maynard! Can't wait to read more of your books and the Harlequin series!

When Cassidy Corelli decides to live on the wild side, she picks Gavin Kavanaugh. The daughter of a casino owner in Las Vegas, Cassidy meets Gavin when he believes she is being treated poorly in an alley. Gavin is in town for a convention as he owns a firm that does cyber security. He is fascinated by Cassidy but has had bad luck with women. When she shows up on his doorstep, pregnant, his lack of trust in women shows. Does Cassidy turn our brooding hero around? Read the book to find out.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and am looking forward to reading more of Janice Maynard's books. She was a new author to me.

I got this book from a Goodreads giveaway and it did not influence my review.

It was a fun book to continue in this series. I always like the pregnancy books, because the romance is usually more real and honest. Cassidy and Gavin were great people and I think she deserved to be treated better by her family, but I liked Gavin and he made the right choices during this story.

This book is part of a series but I don't think it's necessary to read the previous to understand this family, but it's fun to see the another Kavanaghs meeting their match and having a family. The twins were a nice touch to this couple. I really liked their romance and the only problem to me was her family.

D2367 Apr2015 the Kavavaghs of Silver Glen, #4 Cassidy Corelli was to busy with her education and now working in her families casino to have a relationship. Gavin Kavanagh is in Las Vegas to give a speech, after the speech he heads out on the Strip. He comes across a man arguing with a woman and when the man shakes the women he steps in to protect her. She drives them out in the desert, visit her cousin who fake marries them at an Elvis wedding chapel and they go back to his hotel. She spends the night with him and he realizes she was a virgin. Is this a set up? Like the woman who accused him of rape when he was in college... He wants a paternity test!
