One and a half stars, reaaly.

Amazon's one-star reviews actually inspired me to download this book. Almost everything they complained about intrigued me. I thought that their complaints about the hero were exaggerations about things I respected and saw as attributes.

Surely, I would find hidden treasure where others had found crap.

Alas, I was mistaken.

As harsh as those reviews were to the (as inexplicably wimpy as they described) hero, there was a lot that they missed.

None that I'd read prepared me for the stilted and unnatural dialogue. I had no reason to expect the glaring lack of research in medicine and law.

I didn't foresee the gauche and naive descriptions of the accoutrements of a exremely weathly person's home. (Perhaps I should have done; it is, after all, a commonly seen foible of many writing in this sub-genre.)

I suppose nothing except my own stubbornness made me disregard other reviewers' assessments about the characters, particularly the lack of context and background for the heroine.

Since I'm not at all familiar with the author, I don't know why I expected so much more from this book than other billionaire books had delivered. Whatever the reason, I did.

And I got it in one area: this book had nowhere near the usual number of SPaG errors as others like it. That earned this one an extra half-star.

I found this the most irritating book a man who let a woman walk all over who decides to take said woman on a 2nd honeymoon to try and save their marriage even though he is in love with someone else and he has just caught her in bed with the gardener.
Think he was a father of said baby when he only slept with her once the day after she had slept with the gardener.
I was disappointed I just wanted to shake then both not my favourite book

It was ok

I'm an avid reader and I enjoy these types a books but this was one was just too much. The hero had no backbone. What kind of man lets some one run over them out right like that because of a sense of duty? And the heroine was lackluster, she didn't have much a backbone either. In my opinion it was ok..... I wouldn't necessarily recommend.

Horrible, don't waste your time or money

To start..The hero was the WEAKEST Billionaire in history. With his money came absolutely NO power. Who would allow their wife to have multiple sexual relations in your face and still consider staying in the marriage because you honored your vows? What did he do to become a Billionaire that worked from home? How old was he? Give me a break. The heroine is a mystery as well. Other than her blue-gray eyes that was mentioned throughout, her Mahogany skin & long hair, that's all you get. The heroine was left at the alter by her first love while in high school.. Really.. All we know of her is she has a house and is in college. A Grandmother was mentioned once but know other friends or family. This book was the worst.. I stuck with it until the end to be fair with my rating but like the hero in this book with his wife... Such a waste of time.

I got this for free for Kindle and it was worth every penny. It was a quick read, with some broad stereotypes: the good man, the evil woman, the take-no-prisoners lawyer, and the perfect other woman.

This story required mega-doses of suspension of disbelief, here's why: 1) How on earth did the husband become a billionaire as a businessman if he's as milquetoast as this book portrayed him? 2) The husband allowed his wife to flip the script on him when she was caught in the act, and he behaved like a battered wife rather than an irate spouse! He constantly caved to her unreasonable demands. 3)He's a billionaire, but he buys assembly-required furniture? Seriously? 4) The agreement included support for mother and child, so why wasn't her lifestyle immediately upgraded instead of remaining the same?

But, it has a HEA ending and was entertaining in a Harlequin Romance kinda way.

Dumbest book I've read. Everything about it was stupid. Not realistic at all. A billionaire putting up with a cheating wife and staying with her. Really!! Dumb like I said. Not sure why I finished.

I wish I could have finished this book but I couldn't get pass the unrealistic conversation and a BILLIONAIRE acting so weak and pathetic while allowing his wife to treat him lesser than human.

WTFREAK!!!

The plot for this book was perfection. I was so excited to read it. I’m like this is different. I like it I like how it started out. It just did not deliver. The only reason I gave it three stars with for the plot and that they got their happy ending. It will definitely be spoilers. I feel like I am about to go on a rant. Firstly, I was going to let it pass about the fact that he was so calm about his wife cheating. She already treated him like crap but the cheating would’ve just been a done deal for me but I’m like OK I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt. But then he has the nerve to take her on a vacation and have sex with her like he did not just catch her in bed with another man did not ask about protection did not check his self for STDs that just baffles me completely. Secondly, the story started being less believable because I feel like he could’ve called the police to get her out the house and even if not that he’s a so-called billionaire, he didn’t have to stay there. He could’ve bought a whole nother house and what really gave me the WTF moment was when he bought marina to that house why would he take her to a house that his ex-wife slept with multiple men in and he’s had most of his depressing days why not buy a new house but you’re a billionaire that makes no sense to me. You take a woman you’re in love with to a house that you just had your ex-wife in who slept with multiple people make it make sense to me please because it doesn’t. Next on the list, I like how they gradually liked each other. You can see it it wasn’t rushed and they both seem really genuine, but what I did not understand is how she came out to tell him that she was in love with him and he ends up kissing her, but right after give her this whole speech about how he’s committed to his wife, why would you kiss her? Why not just say that whole speech instead of kissing her . then marinas ex why was he even in the story, she claims she want to be a mom single mom but you’re letting this man in your house daily. When you know he wants you back you say you want friendship but he’s not respecting it and you’re still letting him come back day after day but oh, you’re in love with another Man at the same time that didn’t make sense to me at all I feel like it would’ve been more plausible if she met a new guy maybe a single dad just just thinking of stuff that she had a connection with versus it being the man who left her at the altar that’s so random for him to come and show up at the time he did, and try to win her back every interaction he had outside of him first coming to the house. I felt awkward reading it. It just felt so strained. So my question is was she just confused because I get that was her first love but if you’re in love with someone else, why are you letting this man continuously Keep kissing you like I don’t understand the most likable character in the story for me was Jacob and I don’t hate the main characters. Like I said, I feel like they were genuine, but their actions just didn’t make sense to me like the story could’ve been written better I hate to say it. and it’s a lot more that I can check on so I can go into details about but those were the main points that I feel like I had to address if this plot was tried again with same characters, but a better story I would read it I really would but this one just did not make the cut in and it could’ve I think that’s really why I’m mad.

1.75 stars. Audiobook reading by Sarah E. Purdum doesn't warrant a superlative degree description; however, her narration of the text is far better than the source. I knew at the on set that the spouse of the male lead, Kevin, who be a flawed villain. I did not expect the protagonists to be as flawed as the author portrayed them. It was difficult relating to Kevin with principles so divergent from behaviors he accepted from his wife...He has an unwavering regard for loyalty, honesty and one's word being binding and he is a masterful businessman earning billions for himself and his business; contracting the unfaithful, manipulative, self-serving and deceitful behavior that he accepts from Ellen, his wife. Granted he loves her and wants to be with her and have his marriage be as successful as his business; but his unhappiness only leads him to complain to a friend even when he learns that his wife is screwing the help and married him under false pretense. He wanted them to have children and she was always determined not to let that happen. Marina, the ebony mahogany skinned blue-grey eyed college student and heroine is as badly flawed as Kevin. She is trying to recover from being left at the altar by her high school sweetheart; but, she wants a baby that she can't afford until Kevins offer of an 18 to 20 year all expense paid venture into motherhood. She readily and eagerly accepts and is artificially inseminated with Kevin's semen; soon after, knowing that married Kevin has no intentions of leaving his wife, she's in love-her ex-beau resurfaces with offers of love and marriage; but she holds fast to her love for Kevin. One of the most unbelievable elements the author threw into the story: a healthy, never pregnant, single 18 year old young woman having a hysterectomy . In the end, the author gets Kevin and Marina together with baby and happily ever after in their future. One

It was cool

The book was good but there were several things I didn't like. Both Kevin and Marina acted like they had no backbone, no common sense, and just plain stupid at times. I'm married and there is no way on God's green earth that I would let my spouse blatantly disrespect me nor even entertain a man who leave me at the altar. Both Ellen and Lamar can kick all the rocks in the entire world. Both of them were trifling. Ellen was a straight hoe and I was shocked she didn't catch anything and I was so sick of Lamar telling her what she was going to after she kept on telling him no. Glad it work out in the end even though it took forever for them to get there. Loved Jacob, he was hilarious. Kevin was nice but I didn't get his logic as stated b4 I get you don't want to go against your vows but Ellen literally broke them all and he was still trying to hold on. I would've been like deuces tramp and I wouldn't have give her nothing. Go ask your baby daddy lol and Marina child to me there was no confusion for her and Lamar, she made the drama for herself. This was ironic since she said she doesn't invite stress and drama in her which is exactly what she did. But Marina and Kevin were good for each other.

where to begin

I felt that the characters lack emotional maturity. I wanted to know what the age at first I thought they were in high school or maybe college, confusing. The first wife didn’t understand her whatsoever she was a narcissist. A husband although he said he took his marriage seriously he did not. I couldn’t comprehend how do you seek a surrogate without for speaking with your partner about it, so that’s how seriously that marriage was in trouble. I was frustrated with the characters. I wish that offer would have given background about the characters upbringing. To get an understanding why they acted the way they did. The husband had support system but the female characters did not. To help them through the emotional trauma. I scored this book a three.

I read it some time ago and what really stuck out was how dedicated this man was to the woman carrying his child. His wife was a conniving shrew and he deserved so much better. We all have a breaking point and his wife seemed like she would be the death of him and he survived the madness and went on to live and enjoy his new family.

Ellen done lost her mind how did everything she did become Kevin fault? I wanted to write myself in the book to smack her she everywhere. I’m so glad that Kevin found love even if it started artificial.

DNF. .5 Stars if possible. And even that is being generous.

This novel is horribly written and the characters have absolutely no depth and are infuriating.

I don't want to say that it's unrealistic because I'm sure there are people out there who hold commitment to that high of a standard, but obviously the marriage in this novel wasn't going to work. I don't know anyone with such low self-respect, that they would endure such a relationship. Ellen is abusive, a spoiled brat, and a conniving bitch. Kevin is a weak, spineless, doofus that encourages her.

Don't even get me started on Marina. Yes I understand that some people can't help how they feel, or sometimes even who they fall in love with. But honestly with a married man? Clearly he wasn't happy, but that doesn't change the fact that he was married. Yes nothing really happened from what I've read so far, but she met him like three times and she was already in love with him parentheses and vice versa parentheses. Yes you want to have a child, yes the love of your life left you standing at the altar heartbroken. But again, on the topic of self-respect…

The characters just weren't thought out.

Question for the author, do you just write to meet deadlines or do you actually write because you enjoy it? Because I don't think I've ever read any of your other novels but either this is your first novel draft and y'all publish the wrong one or you've had five novels due in one month and you didn't have time to think this through.

I like sappy/ trashy romance novels as much as the next guy, however I feel like anyone can be an author with dribble like this. Do you get paid for this?

I'm sorry if I was offensive, and I'm taking this all out on you, but I just don't understand how some of these novels get published. Reading is an expensive hobby. I'd appreciate it if some authors put time and effort in their writing. I realize some authors have quote unquote real jobs in addition to coming up with amazing stories that people, like myself live vicariously through, but there has to be at least some type of standard. As much as I love the site, life isn't Wattpad.

I was highly disappointed because I absolutely adore novels like this.

Oh what a Bitch Kevin's wife is!!!!
A lying conniving BITCH!
Kevin a wealth man is married to the love of his life.
But now they share a home and separate bedrooms.
Kevin confronts her about having children she tells him she had a hysterectomy at 18,
So there was no way she could get pregnant, and beside why would I want a child to mess up. MY perfect body?
She tell him if u want a child so bad, find someone to have it for you!
So Kevin does. This starts the saga of Kevin and marina ,the surrogate mom, and their soon to be born baby.
Kevin's wife finds out about the baby long after its born, she is irate yet still very selfish.
Right about this time I decided although Kevin is an honorable man he is also gullible.
His wife has him believing he is an awful husband , and he seriously starts to believe her.
Meanwhile she is screwing every male in their employ as well as any others she can find.
Kevin with the help of his lawyer has set up video surveillance t brought out the house. The wife is caught with many different men, sometimes two at a time, she is well aware of the cameras, but she could care less. You see she has announced she is pregnant with Kevin's child and it is nothing he can do about it. The pregnancy is confirmed for the time they went on vacation.. It is it Kevin's! Will Kevin and marina get their HEA with their little bundle or will baby make 4????

The Billionaire's Love Child, an ARC review: It was a really good read; however, I really wish Kevin was more Alpha male. The wife had more balls than he did for lack of a better word. I really wish the writer would have done more research and made the lawyer (Jacob) a bit more smarter than he was portrayed. The way this played out Kevin could have walked away and Ellen would have gotten nothing which is what she deserved. First of all, the following were applicable to the married and subsequent divorce in Kevin's favor: 1) alienation of affection; 2) fraud and 3) adultery just to name a few. The character Kevin was too noble.

Marina, I just do not know what to say about her. First of all, her ex-leaves her at the altar: 1) I would have sent whatever letter or postcard back to him shredded in pieces, like he left my heart and 2) I would not even entertained any kind of relationship with him. He was to close to forcing himself on her in my opinion.

Overall, Kevin and Marina gave each other something that they needed.

This is my first book by this author.

This is Kevin and Marina's story. I know the circumstances may not seem realistic but I have seen loads of reality shows as well as real life Hollywood stars whose lives have been lived like this.

The scene where Kevin allows his wife to get up to her antics, he allowed this so he could collect evidence against her which he used to eventually stop her from the emotional hell she was putting him through. So although distasteful it helped him get want he wanted in the end and he was always true and honourable. I did not see him as weak man. I saw him as man who was tricked into marriage and he wanted to the honourable thing all around until the scales were pulled off his eyes and then he worked steady go get out of that situation.

There were some twists and turns in story that did make me want to scream. However, I did enjoy the story.

Very lame dialogue. All in all poorly written and rather comical. I felt like the Marina lacked personality and was treated as a doormatt. Just because one is kind does not mean you need to submit to all kinds of treatment.
Kevin was also a whimp! To be thus treated by such a wicked witch! I was really wondering how could he not have seen the true colour of his crazy wife?! Such a golddigger it made me wanna strangle her. And I think it was a bit too thick to have her sleep around with anything that moves... Not very convincing..
Lamar was such a lame guy! I felt he was not real at all whining and beggin in suck an annoying manner.
As for the ending... Very rushed and somehow over all...
Definetly not the greatest book to read, but if you want sth light reading the I guess this would be it...

C. J. Howard.... well done

What a read! I don't want to give any spoilers away. When you talk about this book you always find yourself rooting for the under dog. Kevin was a billionaire who was married to witch. The things she did... ( boy !!! To be honest I believe Lamar and Kevin's wife should met. She had issues big time. Lying to her husband and making him believe things. I never wanted to put this book down. I wanted to know the ending. I am happy for this full novel. No cliffhangers! You may enjoy as I have. It is worth your time. ENJOY!!!

Don't do it!

The author continues to write the same thing over and over. Not only that, she kept mixing up information, like she forgot what she wrote previously while writing the book.

The Billionaire is weak and a fool. The wife is more Alpha than he is. His reasoning for life and his decisions is beyond ridiculous. The heroine is in love with the hero but still allows her ex to get close to having sex with her when the book is close to being finished...uhm really??

0.5 Stars!

.5 because I thought the hero was a nice Beta hero in the beginning...NOT!

So to say that a lot was going on in this story is an understatement. Kevin is a rare breed of your worm means something. I liked that about him......however that can be seen as weak with no backbone.......but truth it takes a strong man to be able to make his words mean something. Man that Ellen was a piece of work. This was a good story and I am glad that Kevin had his best friend who clearly had his back. Yes a good book and aa must read for others.

Hell or Happiness

He was stuck in Hell. With a wife who didn't want anything for him but his money. All he wanted now in his life was a baby. Someone to leave his legacy to. She was at a place in her life where she wanted a baby. She didn't have to have the man. She only wanted someone to love unconditional. Their terms worked until they fell in love with each other. Their problems began with the wife from Hell and the ex fiance who wanted what they wanted

Weak doesn't even begin to describe the MC

I have never read such a weak man as the MC. Doormat would have been better description. What man rich or dirt poor would EVER knowingly allow his wife to have sex all over his home and threesomes with men and not do anything about it. True struggle to finish.

good good read

When you want to relax with a lot of romance and a little drama that is this book, I thought it was really cute, original idea, I am glad they made it, and he was such a good guy, a little to good a push over really he needed his friend Jacob...But in the end a really cute story, could of been more romance between the two.

Serect And Lies

I enjoyed this book. The plot was very slow, just had to keep reading the book. I felt the author dragged on some key points in this book. Also Kevin put up with things no real man would do. This story makes you think, do you really know the person you are marrying. All in all a good read.

Your True Love Is Out There

Kevin is in a loveless marriage, he wants a child more than anything however his wife refuses to have children so he finds a surrogate named Marina to have his child. What happens when feelings start to develop will they be able to ignore the feelings or will they act out on those feelings.
