This drops in a few hours and I am crazy excited for several reasons:

1. We actually got to publish previously banned works! We fought 'the man' and won (for a limited time).

2. A percentage of the proceeds will go toward helping us fight against censorship in publishing.

3. THE BOOKS! When I first published "Captive in the Dark" there were no books (that I knew of) like it. I'm proud to say I helped bring dark reads into the light.

4. We're hosting a 60 page hop with over $1K in prizes. Yeah, you should join the release party: http://on.fb.me/1z7JYqc

5. There's a month-long giveaway to win AUTOGRAPHED copies of every book in the antho: http://supersexysmut.blogspot.com/

6. The day following the release, you can chat with all the authors via our Google Hangout. Hosted by The Novel Tease: https://www.facebook.com/events/38607...

7. On the 18th, we're part of BDSM-A_Palooza, featuring 50 of your favorite indie and traditionally published BDSM/dark authors. More free stuff!!! http://www.smutketeers.com/

8. DO YOU NEED ANOTHER REASON?! Giveaways, face time, and whole lot of dark reads to fog up your reading glasses. What more do you need?

REVIEW FOR BENEATH THE BURN:

LOVED IT!!! Was up all night reading it cuz I couldn't put it down. :) But now I really am going to bed now...review to come later...

***Updated Review***

From the moment I started reading this story I was enthralled. It's gut wrenching, dark, disturbing, beautiful, hopeful, gripping read that will have you wanting to throw your reading device up against the wall one minute, then the next you're holding it close to you, not wanting to let go, lost in the world that Pam has created in Beneath the Burn.

Life was jaded like that, throwing them together when he couldn't tolerate affection and she was desperate for it.

The story is about Charlee Grosky who is on the run hiding from a very rich and powerful international businessman who held her captive. And Jay Mayard, a rock star who hides his scars and uses drugs to help him cope with his past and his fear and dislike of being touched. They meet by chance, but the timing is wrong. Yet, when they meet, immediately there is a connection between them. One that will help Charlee find the strength she needs to get her through some of the darkest moments in her life. And for Jay, helps him find the courage and determination to change his ways and try to become the man she deserves.

Look, I can try and come up with a long review that will do this book justice. But no matter how hard I try, it's not gonna happen. Why? Because the book basically left me speechless it was soo fucking good. And what speech I am capable of forming into words and making sentences out of just won't do it justice. Sorry, you're just going to have to trust me on this. So, I'll just cut to the chase and say... This is one AMAZING, HELLUVA FUCKING GOOD STORY! I stayed up all night reading it because I COULD NOT PUT IT DOWN. But by the time I had only 10% left of the book I started falling asleep so I decided to go to bed. That lasted about 5 minutes because I couldn't stop thinking about the book. Got back up and finished reading. People, I love to sleep... I dream about sleeping... But this book grabbed a hold of me, said, "Fuck you Sandman, she's finishing this goddamn book so get the fuck out." And the Sandman ran away like a little bitch.

So, go out and buy, borrow, but don't steal, this book. You won't regret it. But do take the content warning in the blurb very seriously. It does include graphic rape, sex, anal, bondage, and violence. If those things make you uncomfortable, then this book is not for you. This is a book that will push your boundaries so read with an open mind.

Happy reading!

P.S. The Sandman gave it 5+ stars and highly recommends it too!

Sinister Desires is a lover of "dark reads" heaven. The collection is full of different dark reads by big named authors and great dark reads.
Before reading this collection I had already read a few of the stories in the collection, but that didn't bother me at all. I'd loved the stories that I previously read that I was happy to re read them as I'd all ready read Captive in the Dark and Flawed quite a few times before as I love the books. These 2 books are must reads in my opinion. There both very dark, contain great characters that are very in depth and interesting and are jaw dropping, edge of the seats reading.
I really enjoyed the other books in the story that i hadn't read before as they have all been on my TBR list for quite awhile. The books in this collection are:
Beneath the Burn by Pam Godwin
Captive in the Dark by Cj Roberts
Empathy by Ker Dukey
Therapist by Jaden Wilkes
The Decimation of Mae by D.H. Sidebotom
Joseph Fallen by M.S Willis
Roman by Kimber S Dawn
Flawed by Francette Phal
Facade by Ker Dukey and D.H.Sidebottom
Her Master's Courtesan by Lily White

Although I really enjoyed every story in this box set, the outstanding book for me that i hadn't previously read was Facade.

Facade was a great story that plays with your mind. You spend a lot of the book not knowing what is happening but you just can't stop reading. The mystery, suspense and thrill of the story keep you completely engrossed in the story from the start of the story right until the end of the book.
The only part of the story that you no of is the beginning when Star has no recollection of her memory. She has been drugged and kidnapped and is just as confused as to what's happening as you the reader is.
This is a book you need to dive in blind to. The darkness and mind twisting messes with you all the way through. When I thought I'd figured out what I thought was happening, the story completely changed direction again.
This story completely blew me away. I loved every mind blowing part of it. The mystery, suspense, intensity, sensual and sexiness of it all.

If you love a really great dark read every book in this series is for you. This is before the best collection I have read.
A must buy for dark read fans.

I have not read all of the books, but here are my reviews for the ones that I have.

Captive in the Dark by C.J. Roberts
I read this book a long time ago, rated it 5 stars, but never reviewed it. Recently I did a reread and wanted to write some focusing on Caleb. I love Caleb, who is one of my top ten of all times in the book boyfriends department.

The first thing that stands out to me in the beginning is how much pleasure he derives just from watching her, before anything has even happened (as far as the Livvie/Caleb situation).

He was excited and instantly drawn to her. The reader feels suspended on the edge of their seat waiting to find out what will happen, how it will play out.

After her abduction, she still can't hate him even though she feels she should. While he is completely consumed with her, she is not immune. She dreams of him, a perfect angel.

Although he may look like heaven, he is equal parts heaven and hell.

-He was my tormentor and my solace; the creator of the dark and the light within.-

As more details of his past are provided, he becomes an even more complex character. He is so gorgeous and his been so tormented and is now fighting his desires, emotions, background, pain, fate, etc etc etc. I wanted to hold the little boy he once was and encourage the man he is that he could change his future.

The entire story is up then down, emotional wave after emotional wave, surprise, sexiness, ugliness, doom and hope. It just doesn't get much better.

Beneath the Burn by Pam Godwin
I loved the characters and the plot. There wasn't a dull moment. Sometimes a dark book just focuses on being dark. This book shows love and strength. Excellent on all accounts.

Joseph Fallen by M.S. Willis
Wow. Brutal. Loved it. Glad I read book 1 first cause this was pretty devastating.

Flawed by Francette Phal
Lacey is a high school senior honor student. She comes from the trashiest of backgrounds. Her mother is a crack head/junkie/prostitute. Her brother is a low life user. How someone with so much fire came from such hopelessness is a mystery. In order to live, Lacey is also a prostitute. She has a small clientele of steady johns. Her goal is to save money for medical school, but her family is like a yoke around her neck constantly dragging her down and using her money.
I'm a deer in his headlights. There's no left or right for me. No up or down. No chance of looking away from the disaster that's about to happen to me.

Knox works for the Russian mob. He "takes care" of people the boss needs removed. Unlike most hit men, he doesn't do it for the money or the power—it's not a job, it's his passion, his life. Knox is a serial killer that gets to feed his hunger in a way that is useful to his boss. As far back as he can remember, he has never had any connection to another person or any emotion besides the desire to kill. He is indifferent to love, hate, happiness, sadness, fear... The name of this series is The Butcher so just imagine what you will.
He isn't sane. Not even a little bit. Everything he's done to me up to this point proves that.

Lacey, yet again trying to save her ungrateful family members, ends up indebted to Knox. There is something about her tenacity that intrigues him. She's like a puzzle that he needs to work out. How far can he push her before she breaks?
I think it might be a reflection of the sort of person he is on the inside. Beautiful, yet irredeemably evil.

This book is filled with unlikable characters. Lacey's mother and brother are of course on the list along with several minor assholes at her school. But the biggest bitch of all is Katia. I don't know when I have hated a book persona this much.

There are so many things I'm not even going into about title. It has some deep twists and turns. There are explanations, connections and surprises. These things need to be learned as you read so that you may get the full emotional blow.

For those looking for a dark read that is truly dark, not sort of, but the real deal, which also has an awesome storyline this is the book for you. Sometimes a book is labeled dark, and it isn't. This book is dark. Sometimes a dark book takes it too far and becomes a horror story. You end up not caring about the characters. That isn't the case here. I was totally into this book and the outcomes. I highly recommend it.

Her Master's Courtesan by Lily White
This one was actually too much for me.

So everyone keeps saying before a dark book that it isn't rainbows and fluff etc etc yada yada yada.  I cannot stress enough that this is a D-A-R-K read.

Unless you're a zombie, I'm assuming this is what's going on with you right now.

1st- Before you read this book, you should do this.

Just rip that sucker out cause you won't be needing it.

2nd- You need to know that it does contain rape, physical abuse, psychological abuse, slavery, and so on.  Everything is very detailed.

3rd- There are two types of truly dark reads.

One- the person is evil, and you know it.  You hate them from the beginning.  You aren't meant to have feelings for them.  It's a thriller, and they're the bad guy.

Two- the person is bad, but you still form a romantic attachment, even though you know it's f'd up.  The person somehow tricks you, wins you over despite what they may have done.  There's something about them that calls to you.

This book gives the appearance that the later will happen, but it's really the first type.

4th- The author's writing style is so good that you don't even see the twists coming.  I wish I would have paid better attention to the warnings from her about this book and prepared myself better.  That's why I'm warning you now.

I kept expecting things to go differently than they did.  Don't do this.  The fall will be hard enough without your mental false buildup.

5th- This story has no romance.  No moral.  It is simply DARK.

Empathy (Empathy, #1) Empathy by Ker Dukey

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

There are some books you feel honored to read before they're released to the readers.  I have to say that Empathy is definitely one of them.  This book had the perfect combination of dark and light that the words and story just flowed through the pages.  Ker Dukey did an excellent job of bringing us a male lead you love to hate and a female lead you wish you could trade places with.

Blake and Melody were great characters.  Both strong with personality and they had such a great chemistry together.  Their attraction and feelings for each other were tangible to me as the reader.  I felt like I was in their shoes.  I felt their sadness and most of all...I felt their L♥VE for each other.  Blake leads a life of no feeling.  Living life one way and a secret life the other.  Until he sees Melody.  A quick glimpse at her strength affects him in ways he couldn't have imagined.  Together they explore this attraction and have plenty of HOT steamy moments spent exploring each others' bodies.

For the readers out there, I have to say...once you think you know where this story is headed, you're surprised with a WTF moment. Blake and Melody not only enjoy their time together, but there's a point where suffering seems all consuming for them.

Capture

Empathy had me hooked from the very first word and I couldn't put it down until I finished.  Empathy is most definitely one of those books you neglect work, cooking and cleaning for.  I'm such a fan of Ker Dukey and each one of her new releases becomes a new favorite.  Absolutely 5 stars worthy!

Therapist Therapist by Jaden Wilkes

My rating: 4.5 of 5 stars

DELICIOUSLY TWISTED READ

Oh, Dr. Dane...Dr. Dane! You are one twisted man and I would love to book an appointment for an hour on your couch. What's "normal" anyway? We all have our hang ups, right? I would like to volunteer for your experimental treatment. I'm sure I can come up with a trauma that warrants your special attention to cure me. :)

Jaden has an amazing talent of bringing us a dark and twisted character and presenting them in a way that we would love to enjoy some private time with them. Dr. Dane is no exception. Every one has their hangups, demons, issues and what have you, it's what you do to manage it. Dr. Dane is a therapist and he's well aware of his issues. He's managed a way to help "cure" his patients by using them for his own depravity. When Mistress comes into the picture, Dr. Dane finds a whole new obsession and what comes after will blow you're mind.

Therapist gives us gritty, raw, dirty and rough. I appreciated Alexander Dane's inner monologue. I had quite a few laugh out loud moments. Other's may consider him as a sick/perverse individual but I saw him as a humorous man with a unique sexual appetite. Reading about his treatment sessions resulted in a few occasional breaks of some alone time with my own personal bedside arsenal .

I loved this book and it's originality. Thank you Jaden for your perverse imagination and twisted humor. Therapist is another reason why I love your work and am in awe of your talent.

Facade (Deception, #1) Facade by D.H. Sidebottom

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

BLOWN AWAY!!

DH Sidebottom and Ker Dukey did an abso-f*ckin-lutely fantastic job in this joint venture. Their writing styles were seamless and it was obvious they were sharing the same twisted mind for this dark & twisted tale.

Just when I thought I had it figured out??? BEEEEP...Wrong!! I was kept guessing with each turn of the page.

I couldn't make up my mind whether I loved or hated Dante. Apparently I was in the same boat as Star. Having only bits & pieces of memory and comparing it to the present left Star and me guessing and trying to figure out what the hell was going on.

This was an AWESOME read and I HIGHLY recommend it.

*WARNING- this does have a cliffhanger but extremely worth it!!

Since I've read so many books in this collection, I've decided to just add some quotes from my previous reviews... if they don't convince you that this is AMAZING... you should probably go and pick up a Sparks book and a box of tissues because you can't handle this awesome.

Lily White, you my Dark Queen, never cease to turn me into a ball of anxiety. You have perfected the craft of dark mind fornicatery in a way that has never been done before. -- Her Master's Courtesan

MS Willis completely outdid herself with this one, I was hooked from the very first page and didn’t stop reading until it was done. It is page after page of the most intense, heart-stopping drama. -- The Estate Series

What did I just read? Did I just get Stockholm syndrome from a book? Caleb. Wow. Just ... I need more. I'll never get enough of CJ Roberts, I might just start stalking her now. -- Captive in the Dark

I honestly have no idea what to say about this book. Jaden Wilkes never ceases to throw me for a loop. Therapist takes you deep into the mind of a sociopath who happens to be a therapist..... -- Therapist

What the f**k did I read? Seriously. WTF?
I've read some crazy dark books this year, but this one is definitely on the holy sh*t scale of darkness. No idea how Kimber will top this one with book two. Roman is insanity personified. -- Roman

So, that about sums it up.... The anti-heroes you will hate to love and love to hate.

I bought this book because it had "Her Master's Courtesan" by Lily White. I had already read all the books in Sinister Desires except "Her Master's Courtesan". This is the only way to get the book on Amazon. All the books are really good and dark reads. If you have not read the books in Sinister Desires and love mind games and dark reads then by all means this a book for you!!!

Ok... I've read FOUR of the books in this series... Loved every one of them... here are my reviews...

Beneath the Burn by Pam Godwin
Jay & Charlee
I DARED TO BE VULNERABLE AND IT PAID OFF!!!

Well, I most certainly should wait to write this as I just finished it last night, but I just can't fucking wait to gossip about this book. I'll be talking about this book till the day I go to meet my maker! This is the second book I've read by Pam Godwin and it most certainly will NOT be the last. I'm a Pam groupie! I'd follow that bitch to ends of the earth just to get more books from her and maybe have a beer with her!! LOL! Can't get enough of her writing. Ok, enough about my Pam Godwin obsession... onto the review...

My assessment of Beneath The Burn is going to be tough to put into words but I'll give it my best effort to convey it to you in the simplest terms. This tale of anguish, sorrow, and bonds is so heart wrenching, so dark, so dank that my heart almost burst. Forget about what you think you know here or what you may assume this is about. It will take you to places you thought you'd never go and love it. Amidst kidnapping, rape, drug use, violence, and suspense you'll (oddly enough) experience love, acceptance, protection, and believe it or not, humor. This is NOT... I REPEAT NOT for the faint of heart, all you peeps out there that love a composed and predictable romance, well, dig your heels in for this one, you're going to need it. I honestly feel like I need to read one of those foo foo books just to cleanse my pallet before I move onto another story like this one! That's a good thing by the way! Don't misunderstand me, this story also has its share of humor and will having you laughing out loud at many points, but I think the hilarity is put there to help ease you into the mayhem and back out again.

I usually begin talking about the male lead in my reviews, but there's just too much to say about our beautiful, courageous, intelligent, and talented Charlee (with two E's!). What a breathtaking character. She is the strongest female character I've ever read and I have a feeling she mirrors (on some levels) one of my favorite authors (wink wink)! Personally I would have splintered from just a fraction of the shit she went through. In fact, I broke a bit just reading about all the turmoil and anguish she put up with for 9 goddamn years. She always seemed to have such an inspiring attitude and dished out amazing advise while her own heart was quiet. The kind of girl that gives without ever taking. Still laughing out loud at the "Charlee Constitution!"

Now Jay Maynard, oh boy. A man I love to hate! For starters, how can you not love a rock star for Godsakes? His external shell is hardened by years of abuse followed by more years of suppression. His insides however are a different story brought out by the trust and love an amazing woman. A quote from the book pretty much sums it up for me. "Love is like a series of improbable, lonely notes landing together in meaningful chaos. Where every channel carries a rhythm that conveys an expression of emotion. It doesn't feel flat or fake or hallow. It's not exaggerated with overtones. The complexity might feel organized, but the creation is never controlled." Jay was, is, and always will hold an enormous place in my heart. I wouldn't mind trying "The Strong Box" position with him!

Great supporting characters in Nathan, Tony, all the band members, and even that nasty, son of a bitch Roy. Without that POS this story wouldn't have the best villain ever written. I almost felt a tiny bit of compassion for the dick towards the end, but to no avail... he showed his true nature and I was back to wanting to cut his nuts off. I cherished the brother/sister connection Charlee and Nathan had formed. He could have left her to fend for herself, but he gave up his life and time to stand by her side and shield her at all costs. The band members, Laz, Wil, and Rio are some of the best in the business. From thongs to video games, these guys will have you laughing your asses off.

The writing style, well, it's Pam Godwin and there is no other like her and her writing. It's detailed, yet it flows. It's angsty, yet she manages to plug in plenty of softness. And it's suspenseful and scary at times yet she peppers in some humor and makes it one of the best books ever written. I'm glad I finally got the opportunity to read it and will be bragging about it for the next ten years, maybe more!!

The pacing was good and the highs and lows kept my heart in check, most of the time! It's 484 (Kindle version) pages long and every, I mean EVERY damn page warped and corrupted my heart until there was nothing left but the shell it came in. Can't say much without giving anything away, but I will say this... at 94% I had to set my kindle down before I threw it and text my friend Kat through tear filled eyes to tell her I was bawling my eyes out. She had finished it already and was waiting for me so that we could discuss it. Needless to say, she told me she's been there also and to keep reading and text her when I was done! I'M DONE KAT, I'M DONE AND I LOVED IT!!!!

10 Stars all the damn way!!!!

Captive in the Dark by C.J. Roberts
Caleb & Livvie "Kitten"
I. AM. A. DIRTY. WHORE.

Ok, first off... repeat after me... "I am a dirty whore!" No shit... just say it now cause once you've ended this book, you'll be thinking it!! I will never be the same again! I am dirty. I am a filthy whore. I left a piece of me on the pages of this book and this book left a piece of itself on me! I loved it, I hated it, I wanted to be it, and most of all I will treasure this story for the rest of my existence.

I read Captive in the Dark on the recommendation from another dirty whore, Chelle Bliss. She actually bought me this book a year ago and I kept pushing it further and further down my TBR list. Now I know why! Chelle knew too that once I ingested the words that make up this tantalizing tale that I'd be forever scarred and my heart would never be the same and if it's all the same to you, I'd like to keep it that way!!

I'll start with Caleb. Holy freaking hell, this guy is one of a kind. He's alpha, he's sexy, he's as fucked up as they come, and he's so dark and mysterious that you'll never, and I mean never know what he's thinking. He IS the "monster that no one thought to look for in the light of day!" Even after the unimaginable and unspeakable things he does to Livvie, I still crave him in the worst way. Have faith that he'll turn your world upside down and inside out, he did mine! When he says, "Kitten, don't let me find you!" a chill ran down my spine. A chill of fear, of excitement, or maybe a chill of the unknown and what would happen if he did find her! Yikes, the hairs on the back of my neck are standing up right now (*looks over shoulder).

Livvie, or should I say Kitten, well, she kind of drove me bat shit crazy. She cries all the damn time. I don't know what I would do in such a situation, but I sincerely don't think I'd cry so much. She's stronger than she thinks and pulls that strength out of her ass at times. She's not the battered dog she portrays herself to be. She's more like a young woman who goes from one appalling circumstance to a poorer one depending on how you look at it. I personally think the entire event changes her for the better! She seemed to do a lot of growing up in four months, God knows she had to, but sheesh, the crying almost did me in!

Just so you all know, when you finish this book, you'll be agitated, salivating, feeling pissed off, exhilarated, and above all dirty! This is a cliffhanger so have the next installment, Seduced in the Dark ready to go. This book was effortless to read and I finished it in two days. It was so captivating and compelling that I could NOT put it down. The dialogue flows and feels very natural. The pacing is perfect and the tension leading to the climax was invigorating to say the least. It's 224 (Kindle version) pages long... and for me that equates to... not too long, not too short... just right baby... now get your asses over to whatever site you buy your books from and get this mofo immediately!!!

Thank you Chelle Bliss for opening my eyes to this dirty world!!!!

5 Stars because 10 is not available!!!

The Decimation of Mae by D.H. Sidebottom
Daniel & Mae
SPEECHLESS

I Am in awe, I'm not sure exactly how to feel about this story, I want to scream. I Want to cry, but most of all I want to tell you about the story that broke me in so many ways. I can honestly tell you that a piece of me died on the pages of this beautiful tale! From the very first word, I was hooked, this is one of those books that you won't be able to put down no matter how hard you try. Damn you D.H.!!!

Mae, our little lamb is my hero in every way shape and form, She laughed in the face of the devil and taunted him with her defiance. From the life she was dealt to the life she was force into, she never lost herself. A woman repeatedly beat, told she wasn't worth anything, and stolen from the only life she knew. Her spirit still soared above all the evil. Mae and her dirty mouth and will to exist will live with me forever. I can only hope to be half the woman she is.

"You will never pen me in like some timid animal that is too scared to fight. I have nothing to lose. You can beat me, hurt me, control me even, but you will never ever own me." ~Mae

Daniel is everything I love to hate in a character. He's offensive, condescending, evil in its purest form... yet he demands my attention and the hope that one day he would change and find his peace! I've never read a character that demanded so much passion from me. I hated him, I loved him. I wanted to be the lamb to his Shepard, I don't even Care if the path he lead me on is to my demise,.. my slaughter! I'd go!

"I am the sort of man who will relish and your defiance, Mae. Believe me; I would love nothing more than to fight with you, to take you hard and punishingly, to bruise you and make you bleed." ~Daniel

Great supporting character cast. From that dirt bag, drug dealing, scumbucket Liam in the beginning to those evil, wicked handlers Demi and Frank. God, I love a good villain, even Daniel could be grouped into this category.

This book will tantalize your senses and make you feel like your entire world is collapsing around you. Don't get me wrong, I loved it with every fiber of my being, I even laughed out loud at parts. It's frightening, its humorous, and it's the complete package of love and hate. The pacing is just right, the dialogue flows with expertise, and the highs and lows that brought me to that wonderful climax have branded my heart and will forever be a part of me.

5 Stars

Joseph Fallen by M.S. Willis
Joseph & Arianna
I WILL NEVER BE THE SAME

FUCK... this book was a recommend from a fellow author/blogger. I bought it before I realize I already had it within the pages of an anthology I bought a while ago entitled Sinister Desires. I don't fucking care... I'd buy this book ten more times if I could!!! This book was a one day read for me. I could not (for the life of me) put this down. It's not a pretty little romance gift wrapped in happiness and glee... NOPE, it's a knockout, drag you down, rip your still beating heart outta your chest kinda book. So don't read it expecting silly love songs and a knight and shining armour. Not gonna happen and YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.

Joseph Carmichael is... God, what is he? He's a monster, a control freak, and a pretty shrewd business man. My jaw is still laying the floor where it dropped hours ago. I can't comprehend how someone can be so driven, so single-minded, and so fucking evil all at one time. I guess he didn't start out that way, but the writing was on the wall from the very beginning, the question was how long until he actually showed his true self. No matter what he has or how much his worth, he always wants more. More money, more square footage, more respect, MORE. This bastard had it all, but his greed drove what should have been most important away. Fuck, he's such a dick!

"I have not broken those promises, so do not break yours. Do not threaten to leave me again. There is no where on this Earth that you could run, that I would not hunt you down, find you, and drag you back here, chained if need be, to where you belong."

Arianna, that poor woman. She never had a chance. She was beautiful, smart, and fun loving. Joseph changed all that. Not over night, but over the course of 10 or so years. I would have left him... after I slit his damn throat. The unspeakable things this woman endured were beyond belief. She mostly kept her chin up, her thoughts to herself, and her heart closely guarded. Joseph's twisted mind would have corrupted most people, but not her, not Arianna. She may not have been physically strong, but her mind was a rock and she used it to make her life more enjoyable. That and her music!

"I don't want the things you give me! I don't care about the money, about the parties, about the prestige or the envy! All I ever wanted was you! Why can you not see that?" "I love you Joseph, but I will not remain in the life you have chosen. End this now, or let me go!"

The supporting characters are very few. Let's see there's Connor. He starts out as Joseph's right-hand-man until he's needed as Arianna's bodyguard/babysitter. I wasn't sure about him at first, but fell madly in love with him after only a chapter or two. Next up, the spawn of hell, Emory. This guys is certifiably infuckingsane!!! He needs to inflict pain and death to be normal. The things his mind come up with and the way he manipulates is so cunning and calculated that it make you almost think he may not be so fucked up. Then he condones drugs, murder, and rape and I'm back to thinking he's a total lunatic. There are others, but I'm not at liberty to talk about them at this time... you'll just have to find out about them on your own. I have a feeling I'll be learning more about them in the next installments.

This story is one that will go on my top 10 list for this year. I have never read a story (till now) that started out pleasurable and happy and progressively got worse with every turn of the pages. Not worse for me, but worse for our characters. The tension that Ms. Willis creates in this book is outstanding. It's a non-stop build from start to finish and I could not stop reading. I craved more with every word I consumed. The pacing is fast and kept the story flowing. The characters are more powerful than any I've read in quite some time. The storyline is dark and gritty and without a doubt the most painful book I've ever read. It was effortless to read, but made my heart stop beating at times. Good luck with this one... you're going to need a lot of booze, smokes, and tissues to get through this one.

5 Evil Stars!!!!

I LOVED EVERY DARK & TWISTED WORD

Sinister Desires is an anthology of books not for the faint of heart. Here is my review of several of the books in this collection:

"BENEATH THE BURN" BY PAM GODWIN:

Charlee is a tattoo artist, on the run from her abusive billionaire captor, Roy Oxford. Jay is a member of an up-and-coming band, The Burn, who uses drugs & women to hide the emotional scars of his youth. Jay's physical scars are not so easily hidden, however, so he seeks out a tattoo artist (Charlee) to help conceal the outward manifestations of his painful past.

Charlee & Jay are both survivors struggling to leave their pasts behind them. A one-time encounter creates a bond between the two that leaves a lasting impact upon their lives. For Charlee, Jay's inspiration helps her to survive additional abuse at the hands of her captor. For Jay, Charlee inspires a desire to become a better man.

"Beneath the Burn" is Charlee & Jay's story... and it is not a pretty one. Their romance is not your typical love story. In fact, "Beneath the Burn" is dark, twisted erotica, and definitely not for the faint of heart. The book is long, spanning several years. It details events endured by both Charlee & Jay--past & present; apart & together. Charlee & Jay's pasts taint their present and threaten to taint their future. Undoubtedly, there will be many obstacles for them to overcome. But they are survivors, and together they are determined to prevail.

The instant connection Charlee & Jay felt for each other seemed a bit unrealistic & contrived for my tastes, but overall, I found their story to be engaging. By far, the best part of the story is Nathan Winslow. I loved his devotion to Charlee and his fierce protectiveness. I loved how he wanted to absolve Charlee of her of guilt and was willing to help her move forward--wanting her to be happy.

If you are a fan of dark erotica, then you'll want to give "Beneath the Burn" a read. Despite the minor flaws I had with the storyline, the characters were likeable and their story of survival, inspiring.

EMPATHY BY KER DUKEY:

Empathy: the ability to understand and share the feelings of another - Suffice is to say, the title says it all.

The story revolves around 3 main characters whose lives are inexplicably intertwined--Melody, Ryan & Blake. Melody is a young college student whose "perfect life" disintegrates when tragedy strikes her hard. Ryan is one of Melody's classmates and his brother, Blake, a police officer & killer for hire.

From beginning to end, Empathy held me in its grasp. The story is not only gripping, but it's a dark & twisted roller coaster ride. Many of the twists and turns I never saw coming, and I loved every single moment!!

Ker Dukey plays puppet master to this clever psychological thriller which has a cliffhanger ending that has me craving more. I can't wait to sink my teeth into the "Desolate," Ker Dukey's next Empathy novel.

Indulge your dark side, and delve right in for the ride of your life!!

THERPAIST BY JADEN WILKES:

Somewhere deep down inside myself, there must lurk a dark & twisted soul, because I find myself utterly fascinated with dark & twisted characters such as Alexandre in "Therapist." I love delving into the psyche of killers and sociopaths and other characters that display socially abnormal behaviors. I want to know what makes them "tick;" what forces drive their obsessions; if they are capable of giving and accepting love. And I applaud authors such as Jaden Wilkes who are able to elicit feelings of empathy from readers like myself for characters possessing even the darkest of souls.

Alexandre is a therapist who specializes in treating women that have been victims of sexual assault and trauma. He also has a very unorthodox brand of therapy that he reserves for some of his most "special" clients.

Alexandre's professional and personal life center's around his narcissistic tendencies, as well as his sexual proclivities... primarily his need to dominate & humiliate. He is a sociopath seeking sadistic pleasure at every turn.

As the story progresses, we watch as Alexandre struggles with loss of time, altered memories and distorted reality. It is clear, that there is more at "play" than meets the eye. Yet, despite the breadcrumb clues left throughout the story, the puzzle pieces don't come together until the very end.

If I'm being honest, prior reviews proclaiming a "shocking" or "explosive" ending, left me a bit disappointed with the conclusion of this story. While the ending was good, I was expecting something a bit more cataclysmic. It's for this reason, that I'm giving "Therapist" 4 stars instead of 5. My suggestion: Read "Therapist" and simply enjoy the ride!

FACADE BY KER DUKEY & D.H. SIDEBOTTOM:

Imagine waking up in a cell without any memory of who you are or how you got there. Then imagine finding out that your captor is also the love of your life. Imagine learning that the two of you were playing out your real life fantasy and that, somehow, your memory was lost in the process. Then imagine your memories slowly returning, clashing with what your reality is now. Would you know what is real and what is imagined? Would you be able to push aside the façade to discover the truth?

Let Ker Dukey & D.H. Sidebottom take you on the ride of your life! Pick up "Façade" and discover the truth for yourself. But beware... the cliffhanger ending will have you ravenous for more!!

CAPTIVE IN THE DARK BY CJ ROBERTS:

"People often believed they were safer in the light, thinking monsters only came out at night. But safety - like light - is a façade."

CJ Roberts' "Captive in the Dark" is definitely not for the faint of heart. The subject matter is gritty, raw and disturbing. It is also captivating, gripping, thought-provoking and tragic. It totally blew my mind!! It's crazy how much I love this book and the Dark Duet series as a whole--I must be seriously disturbed!!

"Why couldn't he just keep being an evil, soulless bastard so I knew what his role was and I knew mine? Why did he continually have to switch back from cold and unforgiving, to comforting and warm?"

Both villain and victim of circumstance, Caleb is a very complex character. His inner thoughts & feelings are often at a counterbalance with his outer actions. He can be kind, yet cruel; he can be gentle, yet harsh; he can be loving, yet sadistic. So, it begs to be asked: Are monsters born, or are monsters made? Can monsters even love? And, in the end, can someone learn to love the monster--their tormenter, their captor--in return?

"I wrapped my arms around him and held on as hard as I could. He was my tormentor and my solace: the creator of the dark and the light within. I didn't care that he would undoubtedly hurt me at any moment, right now; I just needed somebody to hold me... To tell me these exact words. Its going to be okay. It wasn't of course, I knew that. But I didn't care, I needed the lie."

The third person narrative allows the reader to really connect with both Caleb and Livie, exposing their inner turmoil as their shocking story unfolds. As a whole, The Dark Duet series is a twisted, multi-layered love story, often testing the boundaries of your heart and mind. Caleb and Livie's story is an emotionally draining journey, but one that's well worth the ride!

*I received a free copy to read & review for "Roman" by Kimber S. Dawn and "Her Master's Courtesan" by Lily White for Wicked Reads Review Team*

ROMAN -by Kimber S.Dawn
3.5 Stars
I finished this book a couple of days ago, and have been "absorbing" the story in an attempt to categorize my feelings and be able to present them in some sense of order. (I'm not sure that helped).
See, I have mixed feelings on everything. I am a lover of dark reads, and this story satisfies most of my yearnings but still left me "wanting".
Roman is a billionaire, Alpha-male with a side of crazy...more then a "side" of - he is a complete sociopath who regularly "feeds" his monster.
His sadistic tendencies turn into murderous rage, he possesses no need to feel love or empathy. At this point, he's left 12 women in his wake - and he's proud of who he is.

For a little while.

Meet Heather Mackenzie. She's a daughter, sister, and cop. She's assigned to the investigation of Roman Payne that her deceased father had started. The closer she gets to Roman, the more attraction she feels. Thus begins our "quasi" romance aspect of the story.

Then everything goes to hell. The strong heroine becomes beaten.
Roman starts flip-flopping.
The ENTIRE story seems to do a 180, and I'm left seriously confused.

I wanted to enjoy this, I really did, but the story just fell apart and the characters didn't hold up.
I can't characterize this as a romance story, it's not really erotica (I'm not sure if any scenes were really consensual), so I will classify this as dark and leave it at that.

Her Master's Courtesan -by Lily White

Alright, I've had a few days to think this over and am now ready to write up my thoughts on this story.

Aiden is a "Master"...he's not a Master in the BDSM sense. He's a heartless, soul-less, sadistic slave trainer. He plucks women from their regular, everyday lives and trains them to be courtesan's. I found NO redeeming characteristics in him, but for some reason I still liked him. (What does that say about me?)

This is NOT a romance story. This is NOT fluffy, there is no love, there is NO sweetness.
This is a dark, gritty, abusive tale of Aiden's adventure in breaking Rebecca.
The adventure starts from the 1st page and doesn't end until the very last chapter.

Rebecca turned out to be more of a "project" then Master was expecting, and that is really where the story is. I'm not delving into the details, as you'll need to read it yourself...if you dare.

Well more like 4.5 stars really. A couple of them didn't have that argh! factor but on the whole, a very dark and most definitely sinister group of full length novels. For those of you that like dark reads, this is for you. Those that don't - well don't read it :P

I've actually been enticed by this collection to purchase some of the second novels of their series, in a couple of cases. They are that good!
Even though as I'm reading, my eyes are like saucers and I'm like 'NO! How could he/she?!' or 'Oh my God!' and in some cases 'Ewwww'; I loved the emotional gamut I was put through with these beauties. Thank you authors :) I have entered the dark side and survived.....ish.

I absolutely LOVED this anthology! Reading it was like having the most fantastic bookgasm ever! I won't go on about each one, because that would take forever. Know this. If you like the darker, edgier books; the stories that push the limits, then you definitely want to pick up Sinister Desires. From the first page to the last, you will be on the edge of your seat. You will feel like you've been sucked in, flipped upside down and spanked hard, but you will love every minute of it.

It took me nearly 3 weeks but I finished. Having to keep putting it down to collect my thoughts was the most time consuming part! Five stars just isn't enough for this anthology. Only problem I've got now? I need to go purchase and read second parts (and wait for second parts, I'm looking at you, Francette Phal). A fantastically, disturbed collection of stories... I fucking LOVED it.
