"EVERY WITCH WAY BUT MAGIC" is the 20th installment in K.E. O'Connor's "Magical Misfits Mysteries" series. Consistent with previous entries, the narrative is exceptional, featuring compelling characters, engaging humor, and unforeseen plot developments. This series offers an enjoyable reading experience, with intriguing criminal investigations and unusual magical shenanigans. Each installment consistently delivers great entertainment and ingenious magical mysteries, featuring Juno, a sassy and smart cat familiar, previously a goddess.

Juno's magic is still weak and unreliable after she sacrificed most of it to save Crimson Cove. When it works, it mostly backfires one way or another. Of course, tere are other matters to take care of, too.

During the town's annual Founding Day Reenactment, a young wizard cast a spell that killed a visiting wizard in front of everyone. A visiting High Angel saw the whole thing and insists on punishing the young wizard. Juno's not sure. There are too many reasons why it's a setup. It doesn't help that the High Angel seems flighty and a little crazy, warning Zandra and friends not to investigate. Can Juno and Zandra convince Cythera to help them go against the High Angel and prove who is actually responsible for the murder?

On top of everything, Juno has information that Zandra will die if their magical bond isn't broken, but Zandra's response is: "Not Happening."

I received an Advance Reader's Copy of this fun, cozy mystery, and the above is my freely given and honest review. I also recommend this series to anyone who loves entertaining mysteries and wise-talking cats. Me, I'm waiting for the next installment.

Juno's magic is not up to snuff and his power is not what it used to be since he gave most it to Crimson Cove for protection. We see this at the first chapter where Ms. O'Connor put us right in the middle of Zandra and Juno doing their job and chasing a wild beast. Juno is frustrated knowing her powers are wonky and when she needs it most, it misfires. Some of her misfires are funny making these books enjoyable. The town is having a reenactment held on an earthen ring and with thunder, wizards appeared on the mound. Sage, a familiar to Veranda is dressed like a toad with tendrils of smoke puffing out. The crowd laughs as they settle in to enjoy the show as the circle fills with wizards and their familiar. The battle starts with lights, bangs of power, as their town is created. All of it non magical, however at the end people things get serious when Wizard Ambrose lays dead. There is a young wizard the angels blame and the High angel warns Zandra and friends NOT to investigate. Will they go against the High Angel to prove who actually is responsible.

Every Witch Way But Magic - a review by Rosemary Kenny.

Zandra and Juno, are on a mission for Animal Force, in K.E. O'Connor's Every Witch Way But Magic. But that's soon the least of their troubles, as Cythera, the Head of Angel Force needs their help in catching a murderer - who strikes in plain sight at the Crimson Cove founder's celebration.

Magical skulduggery, spooky predictions that make Juno afraid for Zandra's life, an interfering higher angel and ancient, powerful magic that helps solve a protection issue - Every Witch Way But Magic has them all and more.
