It could be a little crowded, but he threw a few elbows and carved out a space for himself as the family storyteller. He enjoyed the role so much that he decided to spend most of college and graduate school investing in the world of literature. This led to a career teaching English and Creative Writing in the great state of North Carolina, where he currently lives with his wife and family. To his great delight, the demand for stories and storytellers is alive and well. As such, he can often be found at local coffee shops laboring over stories that he hopes his family, and fans, will love.

Part of the amazing Dragonships series, The Void Dragons continues the journey of Lunar Jones and the Mars dragon, Dread. While the first book focused on Mars and the second introduced a threat from within the solar system, this book brings all of the dragons and humanity together to protect the entire solar system from an outside enemy.
As some of the original crew start thinking about moving on, this book brings them back together to work as a team in a whole new way. They follow cryptic clues, organize the biggest mission they’ve ever attempted, make some huge sacrifices, and even get a little taste of first love along the way.
I’ve been reading this series to my son before bed, so I was especially excited to get the opportunity to read an advance copy of The Void Dragons. My son absolutely loves this series, and we were so wrapped up in the story that when I reached the final words, we were both shocked and immediately wanted another chapter (or a few)! This one definitely ends on a cliffhanger, and we cannot wait for the fourth book!
I definitely recommend this series for families looking for a fun read-aloud or for middle grade readers who love dragons, space, and rooting for the underdog.

3.5☆ • I adore this series, it quickly became one of my favorite book series because it's just so much fun. That being said, I think this is the weakest in the series so far. 𝘉𝘶𝘵 (!) after that ending I will need book 4 as soon as possible, thank you very much. I really need to know what happens next.
The book was good, don't get me wrong. It's just not as good as the first two. The series started out so strong, I loved book one, and I thought book two was even better so I had high hopes for this one.
I did love the concept of the zombie dragons in this one though, that really stood out to me.
I think there are a few things that can be explained more (or just in general) before the series ends because I feel like there are some things that are unanswered. Likee I might've forgotten because I read book one over a year ago now but how are the dragons planets, etc.
Again we have Greek Mythology, space and dragons in this series, so if those are things you enjoy reading about I still highly recommend this series.

I think this is my favorite “Dragonships” book so far. It has a unique premise—hello, zombie dragons?—and a compelling returning cast that have me both laughing at the page and staring concernedly. The beginning of “Void Dragons” feels like when you’ve just graduated high school. You’re facing opportunity and uncertainty in your future, and leaving everyone and everything you’ve ever known in your past. You try so hard to grasp onto the people you’ve grown up with, and you manage to keep a few, but the rest slip through your fingers. I feel you, Lunar, I really do.
This book has it all. Suspense, action, horror, humor, and a bit of that awkward first love. At points it felt like I physically couldn't stop reading it, and that ending... god. I hope we get a fourth book. I loved reading this one.

Things have calmed down since Lunar Jones and his crew have saved the world in The Last Dragon on Mars and The Rise of Neptune. There is a lot of change, as people on the crew take other jobs, not always on Mars. Little Will is off on a Lunar Exchange Program, and Percy Lee is replacing him. Proctor is set to be a dragoon. Lunar and Dread get ready to attend the planetary dragons meeting, and Lunar is alarmed when Jupiter poses the question "should humanity continue?"! From there, Lunar and various companions, including Cam Lawson, Mara, and Trey, have all sorts of dangerous escapades as the Void Dragons, manipulated by Gloom and Doom, threaten everything they hold dear. Why has Proteus strung them along with clues? What is he hoping to gain? When a black hole threatens to the universe as well, the planetary dragons all align to try to stop it. Will they be able to send the void dragons back to where they belong? There have been many prophecies, but will Lunar Jones be able to save the day again? This ends on a cliffhanger, so I suspect there will be another book.
Strengths: Lunar is a fantastic character, and it's interesting to see him at the beginning of the book when things are calm. We know he is good when things are difficult, but watching him navigate losing his crew and realizing that he likes some of the girls who are around was fun. Of course, this doesn't last long, and before we know it there are all sorts of problems with travel, dragons, and fighting. Threats from undead zombie space dragons make anything that goes on in real life seem calm by comparison! While I am still a little unclear on how the whole "dragons as planets" works, it's a fascinating idea, and the politics are intriguing. Twenty years ago, I would have had to buy two copies of these books for fans of Paolini's Eragon and Reeve's Mortal Engines.
Weaknesses: This book comes in at 464 pages, which is a lot for middle school readers. The first book has done well in my library, but I'm not entirely sure I will buy this third book. It will depend on the budget, since third books in a series see far less circulation.
What I really think: Series like London's Battle Dragons circulate well because there are only three books, and they are a manageable size. The Dragonships series will appeal to strong readers who can commit to longer books like Messenger's The Keepers of Lost Cities or Murray's Dragonborn books. Comparisons to the Skandar books are apt.

I just finished reading The Void Dragons by Scott Reintgen, and it is a great ending to the trilogy. This is book three in The Dragonships series, and if you love space and dragons, this book is a great choice.
The story follows fifteen year old Lunar Jones and his dragon, Dread, as they get ready for the Solar Summit, which is a massive meeting of planetary dragons that only happens once every 500 years. But while Lunar is distracted by the summit and sad about his friends in the Dread Knights leaving the team one by one, a huge new threat shows up.
Everything kicks off when Lunar finds a creepy, abandoned spaceship floating between Earth and Mars. It turns out that nine scary, undead monsters called void dragons have attacked. They are heading out to target all nine planets at the same time, and their arrival means a black hole is heading right for the solar system.
Lunar has to scramble to find new powers and make unexpected alliances to stop them before everyone is wiped out. I loved how much Lunar grows as a person in this book. Even though he is already known as a big hero, he still has to deal with teenage problems, like his feelings for Rose Proctor and dealing with his team changing.
The action scenes are fast and exciting, and the whole idea of combining spaceships with dragons is such a great idea. That keeps you reading late into the night, but it also gives a really satisfying ending to the series. I highly recommend picking up this ebook if you want a fun, action packed sci-fi adventure.

In the next book, they should include Betelgeuse.
Just think, if the Sun dragon was THAT BIG, imagine the Betelgeuse dragon! You could fit over 900 trillion earths inside of Betelgeuse, so he would be SOOOOOOOO BIG!

These are so fun!
The characters though kids are amazing, the dragons! I really like how the plot develops and how action packed these are.
Almost a perfect read but the first 40% did feel a bit slow and stuck at times.
That ending?!!!
Please tell me there’s more books coming!

I finished this book within 2 days. It has a HUGE cliffhanger at the end and I actually can’t wait until the next book comes out, Like I have to wait a year. I don’t think I can survive that long without the 4th book.

I got this book as soon as it came out and this was a perfect book. I bawled at the ending but the book was incredible.
