A journalist sits down with Draco Malfoy, who vanished eight years ago, for his story on why he disappeared and what happened.
Told from the perspective of Hermione, the journalist follows the story of Draco and Hermione on an expedition to look for a mythical cave and the aftermath of returning home.
’Far where the trees meet the garden and the sun embraces the moon, there is an ocean between the mountains where I will wait for you.
And even after our two souls become one, and the light is swallowed by darkness, and life will cease to exist, I will, always, and forever, love you.’
This was the most beautifully written, poetic, gut-wrenching piece of literature I have ever read to date !!
This is one of those reads where you think about it for the rest of your life — you will compare everything else that you read to this knowing that it will never be this good. I felt every word so deep in my soul. In my bones. It’s part of who I am now !!
I loved the way SereneMusafir laid the plot out — that deserves an award in and of itself. The mysterious beginning, the plot twist and that absolutely soul crushing world ending heartbreaking ending! It hurt but it hurt so so so good.
I adored slow and steady build of Hermione and Draco’s relationship, the way SereneMusafir handled Hermione’s struggles with her illness, how she illustrated the adventures. How she brought the different cultures and languages to life. Part One was a dream for me in particular — the search for the cave and all the notes from Safia gave me such a high! The settings were phenomenal and the side characters were all so well developed. The tension between Hermione and all her friends — her boss. The desperation of escaping to a better life. I could go on forever.
But that ending. Wow. Had me in pieces. But of course, what else could you expect from a masterpiece like this?
I need this injected into my veins. I need to be buried with it. I need everyone to know true heartbreak like this !!

‘“What kind of flowers?” Hermione startles at the sound….
His face is vacant and she watches him closely, looking for hints of an insult, before answering, “White daffodils. They were Mum’s favourite.”’
· · ── ·•°•❀•°•· ── · ·
‘Malfoy's eyes flick briefly toward Hermione, pausing temporarily on her, before looking away entirely, the tips of his ears turning red. He responds but all she can manage to hear him say is "hayati.”’
· · ── ·•°•❀•°•· ── · ·
‘“How will I know what kind of love I will get?”
Leena places her hands on either side of Hermione’s head and leans her cheek to the side of her temple. Her voice is gentle. A mother speaking to a child.
“Mektoub, my love. Whatever is written for you, that is what you will find.”’
· · ── ·•°•❀•°•· ── · ·
‘His eyes ask, What are you doing to me?

‘“…The way his body changes whenever you’re there is obvious to everyone but you.”
Hermione ignores the skip of her pulse at the words. “What are you talking about?”
And in a tone so casual, as if the words have no weight in the grand scheme of things, Amina says, “His body just exhales. Like he’s been holding his breath for a hundred years and you’re his first sigh.”’

“Every time he looked at you,” Amina whispers, “it was like this. Every single time, Hermione. And it hasn’t changed at all.”’
· · ── ·•°•❀•°•· ── · ·
‘“I remember you,” he says. “And I think of you—always and without reason.”
Hermione blinks, taken aback. "What?"
"You," he says. "Always you.”‘

‘You’re the sun, Granger, he said to her once. But what was the sun in light of the constant, infinite orbit of the immortalized constellation that made up Draco?’

‘And it takes her breath away because, in the grand story that is this life, Draco is written for her.
He is meant for her.
And Hermione hopes, prays to whoever will listen, that she is written for him too and that this story never ends.’
· · ── ·•°•❀•°•· ── · ·
‘“I love you.”
A sob fractures in Hermione’s chest, her hand going to her mouth.
“I love you, Granger,” Draco repeats, strength replacing the rending distress in his voice. “It’s enough that I do. And I am saying that I am here if you’ll have me too.”’
· · ── ·•°•❀•°•· ── · ·
‘“Oh God, don’t you know?” Hermione whispers, threading her hand into his silken hair.
How could he think that if he loved her, she'd never feel the same?
How could he feel that his love wouldn't be the only thing she'd want?
“You must know, Draco.”
“Don’t say it if you don’t mean it,” he pleads. He squeezes his closed eyes tighter like if he can't see her, he can avoid the pain. “Don’t say it if it’s not true. I won’t bear it, Granger.”
“I love you too, Draco.”’
· · ── ·•°•❀•°•· ── · ·
‘“Only you," he says. "Only you, Granger. I’m only yours."
And Hermione weeps.
He was impossible, in every way. Breathtaking, leaving her at a loss for words. But people like them did not get what they wished and hoped for.
And she cries because it couldn’t have happened and it did.
Because Hermione didn’t think anyone ever would and he did.
He can’t stop touching her, each touch sacred and desperate. I love you, I love you, he keeps repeating.’
· · ── ·•°•❀•°•· ── · ·
‘Hermione kisses him and kisses him until everything that ever hurt disappears and the sky outside pales. Until the sun begins to rise above the clouds and the birds bring in the day and Draco knows that she loves him and that there is only him and she is, and will only ever be, his.’
· · ── ·•°•❀•°•· ── · ·
‘Lightheaded and filled with indulgent delight, they bask in being no one in a town that sees them only as they are; lovers lost in each other with names cast away like petals. It’s almost divine, a sacred thing to behold, when they touch.
Do lovers all feel like this? they wonder, gazing at each other with awed looks. Do all love to the point of creation? ‘
· · ── ·•°•❀•°•· ── · ·
‘“—But I’m selfish, Granger," he continues, his words spilling from his lips, "and a fucking coward, because finally, finally, for the first time in my life, I can look at myself in the mirror and not feel disgusted. Finally, I can fucking breathe and that’s only because whichever parts of me that are worth existing anymore, the only parts of me that deserve any chance at this, are those that are made of you.” His pale eyes are red-rimmed, gleaming as if he’s barely holding himself together. A sad, bitter smile falls on his lips. “And I’ll be damned for this, because they’re the most brilliant, only salvageable remaining parts of me, and I just cannot let you go.”’
· · ── ·•°•❀•°•· ── · ·
‘You will be the end of me, he thinks and then shakes his head. No, that’s not it. From you, I begin.’
· · ── ·•°•❀•°•· ── · ·
‘Do you believe in god, she’ll ask.
And he’ll say no even though that’s not true, because there will be many times he'll look at her and think, breathlessly, I believe in you. I believe in this.’
· · ── ·•°•❀•°•· ── · ·
‘“No matter how long, Granger.”
Hermione pushes to a stop at his voice. At her name on his lips.
She turns her head to look back at him, heart in throat.
He maneuvers effortlessly around the Aurors holding him down and Draco finally lifts his red-rimmed eyes to meet Hermione’s.
His vivid silver eyes pierce against hers—a collision always, his eyes on hers.
“There will never be another,” he promises.’
· · ── ·•°•❀•°•· ── · ·
‘Hermione remembers him.
And she thinks of him always and without reason.’

‘She makes this ground holy.
She makes this place the only divine thing you’ve ever known.’
· · ── ·•°•❀•°•· ── · ·
‘Hermione, he’s saying to her. You’re my Hermione.
And she tries to listen because he is the voice she’s been searching for all her life, but she can’t help but also repeat, don’t forget me, please don’t forget me. And she must be saying it all out loud because he is saying,
My name is Draco Malfoy, and I will remember you.’
· · ── ·•°•❀•°•· ── · ·
‘“This doesn’t hurt.”…
“This could never hurt, Draco,” she breathes. “You could never hurt me. Do you understand that?”…
Draco says in a devastated voice, “It’s like holding onto water.”’
· · ── ·•°•❀•°•· ── · ·
‘“Don’t go, Granger,” he pleads fervently. “Don’t go where I can’t see you again. Don’t go where I can’t come and find you.”’
· · ── ·•°•❀•°•· ── · ·
“Marry me,” he says, and the smile grows with the words. “And be mine forever.”
"I am already yours.”
“Forever,” he insists.
“That too,” she whispers. “Yours forever, Draco.”
“Then let me be yours,” he says without a missed beat. “Let me be yours only, Granger.”
And this feels far more right for him than what he asked before. Let me be yours, he thinks feverishly. Let my name be intertwined with yours on this earth and in every universe above us.’
· · ── ·•°•❀•°•· ── · ·
“And when I’m old? Will you stay with me then?”
Draco’s eyes tighten as his chest stirs painfully. “Especially when you’re old, Granger.”
“Even when my hair has turned white and it falls out in clumps and makes a mess all over the floor that you’ve just cleaned?”
“Even then.”
“What if I can’t walk anymore because my knees are wobbly and hurt too much?”
“Then I’ll carry you wherever you want to go. In my arms or on my back. I’ll crawl if I have to, but I won’t let you fall.”
“What if I can’t recognize your face?” Hermione asks, her throat closing. “What if I forget your name too?”
The conviction in his voice stays. “Then I’ll tell you yours so you can remember mine.”
Softly, she says, “And what if I forget us?”
Draco’s eyes don’t dare stray away from her. “Then I’ll write you a story of everything I remember.”’

I’ve made this claim before but I truly mean it when I say that this is the best book I’ve ever read. The story, the prose, the LOVE, the soul-crushing heartbreak?! My god. This story will haunt me for the rest of my days (complimentary).
I can’t believe I’m backkk!! I was busy trying to finish this gut wrenching piece of art?? I was so frustrated, I didn’t seem to make any progress even though I read constantly for hours until I found out that this fanfic, if printed, would be 1,300 pages?? Excuse me???? It was so worth it.
“𝘞𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘪𝘧 𝘐 𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘨𝘦𝘵 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘯𝘢𝘮𝘦 𝘵𝘰𝘰?” “𝘛𝘩𝘦𝘯 𝘐’𝘭𝘭 𝘵𝘦𝘭𝘭 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳𝘴 𝘴𝘰 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘤𝘢𝘯 𝘳𝘦𝘮𝘦𝘮𝘣𝘦𝘳 𝘮𝘪𝘯𝘦” STAAAAAAPPPPPP, I genuinely haven’t found a better portrayal of undying love as I keep finding in Dramione fanfics, the slow burn-enemies to lovers dynamic is always a great foundation for building such a strong bond, I think they make so much sense in every wayyyy.
I did not expect the rollercoaster of plot lines and emotions throughout this story, I feel like I’ve lived a lifetime alongside them. I hold both characters so dear to my heart and specifically their AU selves in this one, showing us such raw versions of them and explaining trauma the way it did and how it does intervene with relationships and friendship.
I gave it 4 stars for two reasons: some chapters were a drag tbh and the author notes were too pretentious for my liking.
First half of the book very good and addicting plot after that it becomes way too long and overdramatic. Did not like the behavior of side characters, but then at the end the writing and scenes between Draco and Hermione are soo beautiful. Saves the rating, otherwise it would have been 2 stars.
(German verion/ review below - Deutsche Rezi weiter unten)
Years after the war, Draco Malfoy has vanished without a trace. No one knows what became of him or why he withdrew from the wizarding world. When a young journalist finally gets the rare opportunity to interview him, Draco begins to tell his story—a story inextricably linked to Hermione Granger. The plot follows mainly Hermione’s perspective and begins at a time when she feels lost. Although the war is long over, she continues to struggle with its aftermath and with the question of who she actually is without her role as a war heroine. When the opportunity arises to join an expedition into the African desert to explore a legendary cave and its secrets, she joins the project—and finds herself having to work with Draco Malfoy of all people. During their journey, Hermione and Draco get to know each other anew, free from prejudice, social expectations, and their shared past. The dangerous expedition becomes a journey of self-discovery, healing, and forgiveness. Amid ancient legends, magical mysteries, and the challenges of the desert, a deep bond slowly develops between them. But the real test begins only after their return. The magical community reacts anything but favorably to their relationship. Old wounds are reopened, friendships are put to the test, and both Hermione and Draco must decide whether they are willing to pay a high price for their shared happiness. It is one of the most emotional and poetic fanfictions. The story is told at a very slow pace, with a dense atmosphere and often a melancholic tone. It combines adventure, romance, and profound character studies with beautiful descriptions of nature and travel. Many readers describe it as heartbreaking, moving, and unforgettable. Central themes include post-war trauma and healing, self-discovery and identity, adventure and exploration, forgiveness and second chances, friendship, loss and loyalty, societal prejudices, and love under difficult circumstances—and it is definitely a slow burn.
The story started off incredibly strong with an engaging and addictive plot that immediately pulled me in. Unfortunately, the middle sections felt overly long and at times unnecessarily dramatic, making them much harder to get through. I also struggled with several of the side characters and wasn't particularly fond of Hermione's characterization, as she often came across as too passive for my liking. That being said, Draco was written beautifully throughout the entire story, and the final chapters completely won me over. The writing became especially powerful near the end, and the scenes between Draco and Hermione were emotional, moving, and genuinely memorable. While the pacing wasn't always consistent, the ending was absolutely worth it and left a lasting impression.
A minor SPOILER about the ending:
The ending is about Hermione’s desire for freedom. Throughout the story, she is defined by others: as a war hero, as a symbolic figure, as a celebrity. Only when the world believes she is dead can she truly live. That is why, despite all the grief and emotional pain, Green Light ultimately ends with a happy ending (HEA). According to reader reports, the author herself has confirmed that Hermione survives and that Draco and Hermione spend their lives together. _________________________________________ German review / Deutsche Rezi:

This was the most beautifully written Dramione I have read, with a poetic narration. The plot itself is vague, and I didn't know what to expect, considering it is very different from your average Harry Potter fanfic. It does take place after the war, many years later.
" Hermione hopes, prays to whoever will listen, that she is written for him too and that this story never ends."
I have no words; I am truly speechless at how intense and all-consuming the narrative of the story is. I feel like a part of my soul has been ripped apart and is now part of this majestic emotional turmoil of their love and hardships. I keep dreading how the story would go since it feels like the world is set on keeping them brutally apart. I have no idea how much tragedy my heart can suffer from being hopeful that things would be for the better, because this has three parts, so I was really nervous.
" Let my name be intertwined with yours on this earth and in every universe above us. "
Don't mind me falling into a big slump after reading this and just staring at the wall while crying. This is just a story full of heartbreak and hope, leaving you empty and numb afterwards because I don't know how to move on from this fanfic. The song " Another Love " by Tom Odell also fits this song perfectly. Now I'm just gonna touch some grass, stare into the sky, and feel the sun rays on my skin while crying.
Another beautiful fan fiction. Very poetic, i just feel like I'm witnessing a grand love story of the century. The euphoric feeling i get reading this will forever stay with me because i haven't feel like this for a long time. This is such a delicate and thoughtful story. Every word is so poetic. I'm crying my eyes out. It's truly a bittersweet ending. It's a happy ending it's just I'm crying so much. I can't believe I'm reading this for free. Only 30% of this story is happy and the rest is quite high stake, high pressure, and when Hermione feel anxious, i can feel her, i get nervous for her. I'm glad toward the end everything finally getting calm although I'm nervous for draco imagination the cursed take Hermione away, thankfully it's a happy ending for them in this universe. After an emotional and physical burden they carried, now they're away, hidden from all the sick whisper, spying eyes, amd people that hurting them. Thank you for the beautiful journey, beautiful story.

I heard so many good reviews that i went into it with a bit high expectations. And did it let me down? I really tried to like this story because everyone loves it. I guess, in the end it was not up to my taste. I couldn't connect with the story. Some scene were cringey like the orange eating scene in the car was the biggest cringey scene. I completed chapter 11. However, gave up in chapter 12. I couldn't understand why hermione dated and put up with a narcissist man (not draco). That was the weakest point of her character. There are many other things that I didn't like but i will stop here. In a nutshell, this fic was not my cup of tea.
i love this so so soooo much. everything i love in books can be found here. this is the single best piece of fanfiction i've ever come across. the writing is magnificent. the characters leap off the page. they struggle, they overcome and they are very much real. the inner monologue of hermione was the most relatable thing ive ever read. loved the emphasis on mental health issues and how incredibly well it was handled. ugh i don't know how to fully put my thoughts into words for this one but there are so many chapters that are etched into my brain and that i think about often. i wholeheartedly wish that this can one day be published as a real book because it certainly isn't lacking in any way and beats many of the already published ones out there. green light you will always be special ❤️🩹
HOLY HELL!!! Ive never had a book edge a HEA, this hard, in my life. I was stressed and so confused on how it was all gonna play out. Its. Was. Done. So. Well. This was such a beautiful story. The love, devotion, adventure and awareness of them, was incredible. A grip I had, is Why is Hermione always the one who is sick or hurt. I get the premises, but dang. It hurts so much. The narrator did a fantastic job. The difference between the characters was notable and they where given their own voice.
I think I started this on the 25th but I’m honestly not sure. I know it was in June. But finished it today and I am…. Utterly speechless. This book. The themes. The plot. Draco and Hermione. My Shayla’s 😩😩😩 This was so beautifully written. The themes were so deep and there were so many layers. I was on the floor at the end, crying, just so shattered by this story. This is 100% Roman Empire Dramione for me and I’m never going to be okay again 😭😭 the ending was soooo good and thank goodness it ended that way or I’d be sending serene my therapy bill
this was so sad. i feel like i have been punched in the gut and had my heart ripped out of me. this could have been a novel. genuinely. it was written beautifully.
i loved part 1. the middle dragged for me- it became a little sluggish. the ending broke me.
it was so beautifully written like i cried i genuinely cried. if i could write like this id never shut up. ever.
6⭐ So so so good. Genuinely phenomenal. The plot? Amazing. The characters? So well written. The Setting?! Oh my god I ate that up so harddd. I love adventures and this one was suchhh a crazy experience. And that ending? I swear the author had me at first and a few tears mighttt have been shed but I'm sooo glad it was a farce. I would've never forgiven the author for a sad ending after everything they went through😭.
honestly didn’t expect to love it as much as i did. fic is pretty long like after awhile i forgot they even went on their expedition but i think each part was needed for their story to be told. this line will forever haunt me “you gave me her and if there was any good in the way i’ve loved then let me keep her. for once in my life let someone stay” so beautiful

I lay here with a shattered heart, having cried for hours while I couldn't set this fic aside. It's by fair means the most beautiful I've ever read and I can hardly imagine it can get any better. I feel grateful to have read this story, since it tore my soul apart and set it back together in a way I won't recover from. I'm going to reread this. Again and again.

These Dramione fanfiction books keep devastating me. How is it that the best books I have ever read are fanfiction? This one is equivalent to Manacled level emotions. Just such absolute love and yearning. I was weeping by the end. and not a few little tears, full-blown hyperventilating.
This book is really long, but it so beautifully written that you end up okay with it.
This was almost too angsty, even for me! I kept putting it down because I was so stressed and then picking it back up, once reddit reassured me of the happy ending. Another top-tier Dramione to add to the list, I think.
Loved how this fanfic started out. However, through the middle it really slowed down and didn’t seem to pick up the pace anymore. Finished it because I always want to know whether there’ll be a happy ending.
This was the read of the year. This was everything to me. I cannot put into words how this was beautifully written with palpable clarity and poetic detail. God. After this story you simply cannot recover. This was perfect in every sense of way anyone could ever imagined. Truly, truly incredible.
Wow ! Je suis passé par tellement d’émotion en lisant cette fic !! J’ai passé un agréable moment ! Alors ok c’est 1700 pages c’est long ça a durer 40h de lecture pr ma part mais MON DIEU !! Ça en valait la peine !!
I will never forget part one. the most magnificent story i’ve ever read. the middle was definitely too slow but the angst killed me. breathtaking writing. i’m absolutely ruined. I’ll just remember part one with a happy ending :)🌌
